detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: This review is purely on sound alone, since I can't speak much to battery life and connectivity having not experienced many other bluetooth true wireless buds. I originally didn't like the sound of these, but I've come around after playing with the settings. Some of the problems I have with a lot of earbuds is the emphasis on the low mids and bass, since it tends to make the high mids and treble, especially that characteristic of snares and other high mid percussion, sound tin-y and annoying. Having heard good things about these IConX buds, even two years from their launch, I was disappointed when I was having the same problem with sound. I went from a wired pair of Bose earbuds that had a more rounded, softer sound to the Samsung ones, which just...well, loud, drum-heavy rock music literally made me want to turn down the volume it sounded so weird. The timbre was just...wrong. Well, luckily, the equalizer options my Samsung Galaxy S9+ offers from a software standpoint, as well as the advanced sound features that allow you to customize sound to your hearing and the Samsung Gear Wearables App, made these earbuds sound just as good as my Bose Soundsport wired buds without the wires. I highly recommend customizing your settings to get the best out of these earbuds. I have the GearWearables equalizer set to "Soften" in addition to having my own personalized sound profile, and it's made all the difference. Also, hey, the bass is awesome in these. Rich and thumping, EDM sounds so good. Now, Bluetooth still has some...quirks. The range isn't great, but I rarely go around without my phone in my pocket. And like I said earlier, I don't have much to compare to in terms of connectivity. These buds work for my phone and connectivity needs well enough. They're ultimately pretty comfortable too, thought try as I might, the little wing tip won't stay in my ear super well. I have very small ears, however. I find them just as comfortable and the sound quality still very good even without using the wing tips to their full potential. I guess the TL;DR is they're pretty great if you're comfortable adjusting the equalizer settings

title: Customizable sound, great bass, minor fit issues
detailedReviews 2: content: Bluetooth headphones, in their earliest incarnation, became available to consumers in 2004, promising to rid the world of wires. Rather than signal the death knell of traditional wired headphones, they have become bedfellows with their wired counterparts, offering wireless convenience that is, in a great many’s minds, outweighed by the inconvenience of battery life and the need to charge them.
While battery life for over-ear headphones is less of an issue, in-ear earbuds still face challenges due to the lack of real estate available to the battery.
Personally, I use a combination of solutions for this reason; bluetooth for gym usage and short commutes, wired headphones for longer commutes, running and long-distance travel.
2016 has been something of a second coming for Bluetooth and wireless technology, specifically due to Apple’s contentious decision to deprive their user base of a headphone port; a move that, concerningly, Samsung is rumoured to be following with the S8.
Whether Samsung’s Gear Icon X are an intentional challenge to Apple’s own AirPods is unknown; while the rivalry between the two companies would suggest they are, they were announced two months before the AirPods, and beat the Apple product to market, and the AirPods seem inadequate for exercise, while the Icon X offers a number of features geared towards the fitness market.
So, if we are moving into this brave new wireless world (unless you’re content using an awkward dongle), these things had better be good, right? Well, while I can’t speak for the AirPods, I certainly can for the Gear Icon X.
To begin with the Icon X are clearly a premium offering. $200 gets you two earbuds, with a rubber inner ear locking design that I’d seen previously with my YurBuds, together with a small clasp case that contains an additional battery, for charging the headphones when you’re out and about.
The locking design works incredibly well, and, after you’ve picked from the three sizes of both the buds and the inner ear lock, you’ll never feel like the headphones are likely to drop out. The case is reassuringly weighty, with a satisfying click as you lock then in place to charge.
The sound quality, too, is superb. Deep and bassy, without being overpowering, with crisp highs, the Icon X are faultless. While they block out any external sound, as you might expect, they do offer an ‘ambient sound’ mode, that uses a microphone to play ambient sounds to the user while they have the headphones in. This is extremely useful when wandering around town, enabling you to hear traffic and other noises that could pose a hazard.
So far, so good. However, it’s here where the Icon X’s flaws make themselves know.
The Icon X are packed with great ideas; the charging case, the ambient sound mode are just two. Another is the sensors on each earbud, that detect when the earbuds are in your ear, switching themselves off when they aren’t.
Well, a great idea also needs great execution, and in this case, Samsung missed the mark. Getting the earbuds to detect they are in your ears isn’t the problem, what becomes a problem is when, after ten minutes of wearing them, they think they’ve fallen out. I mentioned that the in-ear locking design works fantastically? Well, while they feel like they do, the sensors frequently disagree with you.
During an hour session at the gym, I was notified they were falling out of my ears by the tone they emit (when they didn’t feel like they were) four times. Granted, using gym equipment requires a great deal of movement, but sweat seemed to make the sensor act up even more frequently. Walking around town, I had the same issue twice; and it’s not just a case of pushing the earbud in further, you have to fiddle with them for far longer than you ever should until you hear the tone to indicate the earbud is secure.
Not only this, but the device has a touch sensitive outer shell, designed to give the user the ability to skip and pause music. Again, another nice idea, but it’s far too easy to accidentally operate the skip or pause function when simply trying to fit the things back inside your ear.
The reason for the in-ear sensors is an attempt to preserve battery, which is critical due to the headphones extremely disappointing battery life. One occasion I made note of, I took the Icon X out of their case at 6.40pm on 100% charge; by 7.05, my phone app told me they had used ⅓ the battery already. After an hour, the left earbud had half the battery left, but the right, the ‘lead earbud’, had ¼ battery left, and was marked red.
On another occasion I had an alert that told me 10% of the battery was left; I timed this at 17 minutes before the earbud switched off.
The charging case is there for a reason. The earbuds each contain a 47mAh battery, which means that the case should be able to fill the pair of earphones with charge three times. This is extremely useful to have to hand, and works as a great companion and carry case, but the average 1-2 usage on a single charge is still a disappointment.
Beyond that, the Gear Icon X does have the ability to store music in the headphones itself, together with tracking fitness activities, such as running and walking. Since a hard drive crash a few years ago wiped out several hundred mp3s (and lost a hundred of so permanently, such was my lax attitude to backing up), I stream all of my music, so the storage is not an aspect of the device that appeals. That said, there are plenty of people who would relish the opportunity to run without their cellphone, while still tracking their activity and listen to music.
Ultimately, for all its great ideas, the Icon X feels like it was rushed out without being adequately tested in a bid to beat the AirPods to the punch. I could live with the battery life due to the charging case, but the issue with the sensors left me frustrated and cold. For $200, I want an impeccable pair of earphones; instead I got a pair that promised so much, sounded so great, but fell badly short when it came to usability.

title: Great ideas, but flawed execution and battery
detailedReviews 4: content: I have been using wired headphones for quite some time now. It has nothing to do with expense, but more about sound quality. I have to admit that these Samsung Gear Icon X earbuds are not only the sexiest bluetooth headphones out, but also have converted me into wireless audiophile!
I love the design. The cas is so small and not to mention is a portable charger case for the earbuds so you can charge on the go! The case has some neat led indicators to show charge mode and also a bluetooth connector indicator. The case is also pretty secure so that's a huge plus, especially when you're on the go.
The battery life is pretty decent with 7 hours and the earbuds are really snug and secure in my tiny ears. I was a bit let down by the bass quality of the earbuds, but then again, bass has been an issue with many bluetooth earbuds. I was blown away with the sounds quality and mids and lows were really great.
My Samsung Galaxy S8 paired very easily with the Icon X earbuds and are really cool when paired. I have up to date notifications, swipe functions for music and Samsung apps, as well ask Bixby/AskGoogle functions, which is awesome in my busy daily schedules.
Being a workout fanatic and a person who loves shopping and always mobile on-the-go, these earbuds are the perfect addition to my daily lifestyle.
I would definitely recommend these earbuds if you're in need of a sexy looking pair of Bluetooth head phones that you can depend on for listening to your music, answering phone calls, and checking notifications on the go or during an extreme workout or activity.

title: Sexy design, great sound, perfect for lifestyle
detailedReviews 5: content: After using them for about a week I am pleased with their build quality and ease of use. The major drawback I have noticed with them is the battery life. I understand however that with their size and portability plus being truly wireless you have that tradeoff.
Syncing was very easy, all I had to do was open the app and pull them out of the cradle and the step by step process just worked.
The controls were simple and worked as expected. I was a bit hesitant about how well that would work but the controls were simple enough that I was able to utilize all of the functionality flawlessly.
I really like the ability to have the passthrough functionality which is something I feel my Jaybird Bluebuds lack. I have used them in the office when I needed to focus on things and then turned it on when I needed to interact. I have also used it when going to the mall, I was able to interact with people without having to take them out which was nice.
Wearing the Icon X while at the gym and even while mowing the lawn was where these shine. Although I sweat a lot They fit securely in my ear and I have never had them fall out which is something I was worried about after hearing about the Apple Ear Pods. Apple could take a lesson from Samsung on these things.
The coolest feature these have is the workout mode. Once you activate it, the ear pods begin recording everything from distance to speed and syncs all of the data to your S Health app on your phone. This gives you a sense of accomplishment once you are done working out. Knowing what you have achieved and hearing it rather than just seeing it in the app really makes the workout more valuable.
My recommendation on these is that they are a buy. I would definitely recommend them for someone looking for a device that will help them with their fitness goals, enabling them to enjoy working towards those goals.

title: Solid earbuds for fitness goals
detailedReviews 6: content: I have been using/testing the Samsung Gear IconX wireless earbuds for about a month now. I love these things and they have made my walking activity much more enjoyable! While the earbuds are primarily pushed as fitness headphones, they work well as a mobile music player. The charging case can hold up to 1,000 songs. I have about 120 songs that I've downloaded to the device which a lot more space available.
I was able to charge and use the earbuds out of the box. They come with additional tips to adjust for a more comfortable and snug fit. Whether it's walking or doing crunches and lunges, the earbuds stayed put.
The touch controls took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of the pressure I applied to the touch pad it was a breeze. I like being able to switch through songs without feeling as though my workout activity is being majorly interrupted.
There is great sound quality coming through. I am not a fan of the ambient sound feature. When on, there seems to be too much extra noise and I can hear every step I take or move I make. It was somewhat annoying so I do not use that feature, but can still hear my surroundings without it being turned on.
I use the earbuds in conjunction with the Gear Fit2 so I have not primarily used them for the fitness tracking aspect. However, the one time I did use it for this purpose, the tracking seemed to be accurate so I have no complaints. However, using the Gear IconX with the Gear Fit2 is a great pairing.
I've also used the earbuds as my wireless headset for my office phone that utilizes VoIP software through the computer. A quick connection to the Bluetooth and I can enjoy music without disturbing others in the office and still get phone calls that come through. Another great feature that I've enjoyed!
I would recommend these to anyone looking for a decent quality, cord-free earbud to use with any type of exercise or other activity when one wants to listen to music and/or track their physical activity.

detailedReviews 7: content: Gear Icon X Review
After I got these in the mail, I charged them up, checked for firmware updates played around with different ear bud sizes and put them to work. They fit much better than I thought they would, and I have not had any issues with them staying in place. I have had them on some rough mountain bike trails, and used them while boxing a heavy bag without an issue. At home and in the office, these have been used to listen to music and make handsfree calls while I work or do things around the house.
The sound out of the box is not that great, but after tuning the EQ on my Galaxy S7 they sound fine. I use Bluetooth to stream music from my phone to my car stereo, so it would be nice if there a separate software EQ just for the Icon so that I do not need to adjust the sound when I connect different sources. The ambient sound feature seems pointless. When I turn it on, the only thing different I hear is static.
I honestly have not used the activity tracker much, and I doubt I ever would. It is quicker and easier to track with my phone and I would prefer a Gear S3 Frontier for that function, especially if I could take it swimming. The activity tracker function does work, I just think it is not going to be very practical to use.
The controls took a little getting used to, but now that I have the hang of them they are not that bad. I also like the idea of built in storage so I can listen to music while leaving my phone at home or in the car during a workout.
Overall, I like the Icon X a lot. These have now replaced both my headphones and Bluetooth earpiece and go with me everywhere. Although I do not have a Gear S3 Frontier yet, I think the combination of it, the S7 Edge and the Icon X would make the perfect trio.

title: Good sound after EQ, practical for daily use
detailedReviews 8: content: You'll notice that I gave the IconX a 5 star rating. Please let me explain why! If you're motivated by the way this product is marketed I think you will agree with that rating. However If you have expectations beyond that you may be a little disappointed.
These earbuds are marketed to the crowd that works out regularly and would like to use them without wires interfering in their movement. That could be running, lifting or cycling. Believe me, cycling without the extra wires is wonderful, especially when you have a helmet and glasses on already. It's just one less complication getting in the way and in my opinion the ambient sound feature is mandatory while riding a bike on city streets.
It's true that the charge only last an hour and a half to an hour and forty five minutes if you're streaming but streaming is only one way to enjoy music during your work out. For most of us an hour and a half of strenuous workout is enough but for those that spend more time in the gym you can download your tunes into the buds and use them without the phone, extending the power to about three hours.
Wouldn't it be nice if they lasted two weeks playing them 24/7? I'm sure Tesla owners wish they could drive 2,000 miles on one charge too! In today's reality, if you want small, completely wireless earbuds there are some compromises that have to be made and I think Samsung has done a great job creating a product that fits the marketing.
When I opened the box I was impressed with the quality and look. They feel well made and look classy. You don't look like Frankenstein's twin brother with the bolts coming out of your ears instead of your neck!
The fit is obviously going to be different for every individual but for me I was able to get a very good fit in the beginning which has turned out to be a great fit after time. What I mean is that I wanted a good sound so I made sure the fit was a bit snug and bothered me just a little at first. After a couple of weeks the fit is comfortable. I assume that my ears have gotten used to them because they feel very comfortable now. Also, it never feels like it's going to fall out. They stay in the ears nicely during my workouts. One note, if Samsung is watching, the inclusion of foam tips would not only give better fit to more people but it would also provide awesome bass response with a fit less snug. I know this because I put foam tips on mine as a trial. Even though the tips didn't fit the earbuds perfectly it allowed me the opportunity to test them with foam tips.
Sound quality is as good as any earbud I've used with proper fit and I have used many earbuds. Remember however, that they have been marketed for listening to music while working out. If your intention is to watch video you will be disappointed. There's a lag between video and audio. I tried this on my Samsung 7 and my Surface. If I was watching a Facebook Live I had no problem but a video file or Youtube created an unacceptable lag. Again, this is not how they have been marketed. I don't think these will replace general purpose or High Fidelity headphones. But if you want truly wireless sound while working out I doubt you'll find anything better.
I saw a complaint where someone said that you can't select artists or individual songs if you're playing music just from the earbud and not streaming. Seriously! Just stream it from your phone and live with an hour and a half or create a playlist of your favorite songs to workout with and let it randomly select. You can load about 1,000 songs on the internal storage that will keep new and entertaining music going for three hours. If you'd rather hear the same 30-40 songs then only put that many in the earbuds memory.
The heart rate monitor seemed pretty accurate but again this is coming from earbuds that don't require you to wear a watch or a strap around your chest. I think it's plenty accurate to make comparisons from workout to workout. In my case, it was almost spot on but everyone's ears are different and I've read that others have had poor readings.
The sync from left to right ear sounds perfect. I know that's a problem that many manufactures have had but not with these. Good job Samsung! Another important fact is, I'm using these with a Samsung Galaxy7 phone and I had zero connectivity issues. I can't comment on using them with any other device. There is one complaint! In ambient sound mode with the volume turned down the buds create a little white noise. This may be necessary to amplify the ambient sound to the earbuds or it may be something that can be fixed with an update but if you listen to your music at a moderate level it's not noticeable. I only use ambient sound while biking so you may never deal with that.
All in all I was impressed with these earbuds! I'm sure there will be many more coming to market. Some very cheap, some with connectivity issues and some that make you look like a dork (I think there are some white ones coming out soon called earpods). But today, I don't think there are any better truly wireless earbuds on the market if your needs are how they have been marketed!

title: Marketed for fitness, good sound, some flaws
detailedReviews 9: content: I bought these for workouts without a phone, point blank. For that purpose, they are perfect. They have absolutely never fallen out, even when I am practicing a few dunks for basketball. If you have small ears, I could see them being uncomfortable, though. Bluetooth Connectivity is great, on par with my "semi-wireless" earbuds, and much better than earlier wireless earbuds (Earin, brags dash, etc). Most people who have left bad reviews have been for either battery life or sound quality. The battery life on these is low (about 1-1.5 hr streaming from phone or 2-3 hrs if using internal music player). I was expecting that already; plus, I use the internal player so battery life is fine for my workouts. My only gripe is I wish they had a quick charge feature, that's it. As far as battery life, if you are wanting to purely stream music during workouts, I would opt for either Jabra Elite or Bragi's "The Headphone" (not the Bragi dash). Those give about 3 and 5 hrs of battery life, respectively. Sound quality is fine, exactly what you would expect. I don't know why people would ever expect earbuds, in particular wireless earbuds, to sound amazing. If that's what you are looking for you should stick to over the ear style headphones. I'm not an audiophile, but they were about the same quality as the wired apple EarPods. Bass was a little low, which you can more or less correct with an equalizer on your phone. They were MUCH louder than I expected, something other wireless earbuds have had issues with. Of course, getting a seal is key for any earbud's sound quality. In summary, these are a great wireless earbud option for short 1-2 hr workouts. If battery life is a huge factor for you, maybe wait another year until companies start to nail this issue.

title: Great for short workouts, battery life is key
detailedReviews 10: content: I have used the Gear IconX now for several weeks and can honestly say it is a really good device. I want to break down this review to 5 sections:
Connectivity: The Gear IconX pairs very easy and only had a few drop outs. I even paired it to the Fit2 and it worked great (really nice for those long jogs). The range on the Gear IconX is about the same as any Bluetooth headset (~30 feet).
Fit & Sound: This device fits very snug and I have done just about every exercise with them in (weights, jump rope, running, etc.) and not once did they fall out or did I feel they were unstable or feel like they were about to fall out. They are very comfortable and I never experienced ear fatigue. The sound is rich with plenty of base and clear treble highs. I took a few phone calls on them, I could hear the other call perfect and the other person on the other end said I sounded clear.
Battery Life: The battery life is acceptable as I got about 1.5 hours of battery if I streamed music from my phone and almost 3 hours with music playing directly from the ear buds. The case charges the ear buds which is nice and small. Once you are finished with your workout, just put the ear buds back in the case and put them in your gym bag. This reduces the chance to lose the ear buds. My gripe on the case is that you almost have to always have them plugged in. If you leave the ear buds in the case and not plugged in, the case and ear buds will die in about 2 days. Why did Samsung do that? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the case to trickle charge the ear buds so you don’t have to leave them plugged in all of the time?
Ease of Use: To use the ear buds, just put them in your ears and they connect to your phone. Open up your music app and hit play. It is just that easy. When you remove the ear buds, the music pauses and when you put them back in, the music resumes. There are two ways to listen to music, stream though your favorite app or download music directly to the Gear IconX. To download music to the ear buds, it is easy just not convenient. You have to plug the charger in, with the ear buds in, to a computer or your phone to download your music. For the S7 edge, you can just attach the case to your phone and transfer music. The touch pads are really sensitive to the touch and often when increasing the volume it would pause the music. The touch pads don’t have any click or haptic feedback, just a beep when touched. This definitely could be improved. The heart rate monitor worked pretty well on the S7 edge. While using the S Health app and running on the S7 edge, the heart rate monitor was fairly accurate. I sometimes would get these random beeps signaling the HR wasn't registering and after a few steps it would stop. I figured this out only by looking at the S Health app and it told me the HR disconnected. This was due to the sensors being dirty. A simple wipe of the sensors before inserting them generally fixed the problem.
Firmware update: The notification for a firmware update will be in the Gear IconX app on your phone but the ONLY way to update them is to plug the case (with the ear buds in the case) into a computer, open the Gear IconX program on the computer and then update. There probably won’t be a lot of these updates but this is not convenient. Again Samsung, why is this different than how you update firmware on the Gear S2 or Gear Fit2?
Summary: Overall, I really like the Gear IconX, I would recommend them and would give them 4 stars. The fit and sound is incredible. You won’t find a better, more comfortable ear bud for working out on the market. I have tried all of them and this is the best. The only recommendations I would make to Samsung is to make the touch pad less sensitive, improve the charging mechanism on the charging case and allow for Bluetooth transfer of music (similar to the Gear S2 and Fit2).

title: Fit and sound incredible, best for workouts
detailedReviews 11: content: I regularly work out at the YMCA and have been on the lookout for a solid set of earbuds that match up well with that. My normal go to earbuds have been wired Yurbuds, but I get frustrated when the wire binds up while working out and gets yanked out of my ears, or pulls my phone out of my pocket. In the past I have tried some blue tooth headphones that have a wire between the right and left earbud, but those run into the same issue as the wire gets caught up in my shirt collar and get pulled out.
These headphones are wonderful and I wish I ran into them years ago! I will do my best to give my honest review on them.
Packaging: Professional. Nice and compact, not a lot of wasted space. What you would normally expect from Samsung.
Product Quality: A+. Earbuds are built from solid hard plastic. They look to be built to last and without having to worry about damaging wires, I expect that they would. Most of my headphone in the past die from wire or connector damage.
Fit: Once again the product exceeds expectations here well. Just from looking at the picture I wouldn't have though they would work very well, but they fit very snug. I have not had any issue yet with them falling out during any of my work out or cardio. They also come with different sizes of wings and tips for different fits.
Look: These things fit well in the ear, and don’t stick out much at all. They look good as well. I have gotten quite a few compliments about them and questions based off how they look.
Sound: For those who are audiophiles, these headphones are probably not for you. That's not to say the sound quality is horrible, on the contrary the overall sound quality is good, with bass that is there but not overpowering. I can put them on and enjoy the tunes. I have not experienced any sound distortion or sync issues that I have read being reported on other wireless brands.
Battery Life: This is the one area it where the headphones leave you a little disappointed. They fully live up to the advertised battery life. 3 hours if you’re playing from the built-in storage, or 1.5 if your streaming. Of course, for the purposes of working out and running, this works just fine. The case itself also has a built-in battery that will recharge the cases while they are resting in it. So, after you work out, you pop them back in the case and they are good to be used again.
Touch Controls: The basic controls are straight forward and easy to use. The touch pad on the earbuds are very responsive and in some cases, seem a bit too sensitive. I have found plenty of times that during a workout that i stop the song instead of turning the volume up, Whoops! The controls do seem to work well for apps as well. I tend to use IHeartRadio and the basic start/stop/next track touch controls do work.
Music Player: Very basic functionality here, which I do hope they improve on. As typical you do need a software program to upload the music to the IconX, in this case the Samsung Gear IconX Manager. I do love this feature as I can load up all my workout tunes and just leave my phone at home. My only wish here is that they build in a playlist functionality.
Overall I think they did right with this product and I am fully enjoying being wireless! If you are looking for a solid pair of earbuds for working out I would recommend giving these a consideration.

title: Perfect workout companion, good sound and fit
detailedReviews 12: content: Biased review. I do like Samsung products. Here is quick overview of my pros and cons Pros- THEY DONT LOOK GOOFY LIKE APPLE AIRPODS! Battery life is good. (Outlasts my workouts / I bike a lot / If you are Arnold Schwarzenegger and workout 23 hours a day you may want wired headphones and some additional protein) Sound quality is good (I can hear good while biking against wind) Built in music storage (No need to bring your phone) Pairing was easy with Samsung phones (Note 9 and S7 Edge for me) Easily transfer music from Samsung Note 9 (Maybe other android phones too) Good fit (Stays snug in ears) S Health app built into earbuds (sort of) Intuitive touch sensor on earbuds for adjust sound / track / activity (works through bicycle gloves) Charging case is nice. (I bike almost every day and only charge the case once or twice a week.) Cons- S Health only works for running / walking ( I normally use the app for biking) Could be a bit louder (Previously I had Motorola S9 HD headphones for years and they sound about the same so maybe I am just going deaf in my old age) Touch sensor could use a little tweaking (at times I would go to adjust the volume and I would accidentally pause or advance tracks.

detailedReviews 13: content: I'm a fan of gadgets but this one amaze me how good they sound, I have couple of different ones and I like this one more than the other ones. It feel comfortable, the sound it's really clear and they don't come out of your ear. I like the fact that you can download music to them and no need to use your phone or use your phone battery. It's cool the case to charge it. You don't have to use both at the same time if you don't want to. They are really good earpiece. I even use hearing aids and feel comfortable don't Vader or hurt me ear. The comes in different colors, samsung it's getting better every time they come with something new. After you connect them with your phone it will connect audio when you take the out of the case and ready to work, you can listen to music, podcast, movies, talk in the phone that's simply great. It fits in your pocket, small purse they are so light, I have to say thank you Samsung Company for making great products.

title: Amazing sound, comfortable, great features
detailedReviews 14: content: The sound quality is better than I expected. They even cancel noise pretty well. There is an ambient mode that will let you hear things around you through the microphone. (like a hearing aid) I got used to the touch controls just from a few hours of use. The best thing about these for me is the 4GB of storage. You can plug them into a computer or phone with the samsung gear/wear app and load your MP3 files onto them. Your mileage may vary with battery life. Using them without a phone and with ambiant mode off gave me 3-4 hours on a single charge. The case will charge them multiple times. You can even use one bud at a time if you would like to. Overall for being just a few months older than airpods, the IconX is more sophisticated in terms of features and practicality. A truely underrated pair of wireless earbuds that still hold up today. (They definitely will not fall out)

title: Sophisticated features, underrated wireless earbuds
detailedReviews 15: content: I love these earbuds. Sound is great, and volume range fine. The fit is very customizable, and I have no problem or concerns with them falling out, even while riding my bicycle. Sometimes, after 30 minutes or so, I'll need to adjust them but that's it.
The controls were very wonky when I first got them, but after a software update, they became much better but could still use some improvements. Sometimes my touch isn't registered, or is misinterpreted (maybe 5% of the time). Frustrating, but livable. If the earbuds would "remember" my settings or allow me to default things like volume level, ambient noise on, etc., it would make them much better..
I would LOVE to have either a built in locator, or an attachment point where I could add one. A "squeal" feature, like what's available with the S2 would be perfect. I live in constant fear that I'm going to lose the case.
My only outright disappointment with these is the ambient noise amplifier. I ride my bike and was hoping I could use these to enhance my ability to hear traffic coming up behind me. Nope. Just the very loud sound of wind rushing by, overpowering everything else. If this noise could be eliminated, that would be amazing.
Fix the ambient noise issue with wind, and I'd happily buy a second pair.

detailedReviews 16: content: I noticed some people are disappointed with the earbuds for low battery life or "no shuffle mode". They should probably edit their reviews now. (Yes, it does have a shuffle feature. Look on the Gear IconX settings in the Gear App.)
I have had the Gear IconX for 3 days now (9/16/16), doing little experiments with them to see what their true potential is... so far. Yes, the battery life could use some work. When using the earbuds as stand-alone earbuds, meaning not connected to your phone, they can last a good 2 to 3 hours. When connected to your phone via bluetooth, you could probably squeeze 1.5 hours off of the earbuds. I haven't tried the "work-out" mode yet, but I have a Gear Fit2 so I only use the IconX for the music. (Mind you, these earbuds were meant for fitness and you wouldn't be working out for more than 3 consecutive hours.)
A smart thing to do to make them last longer, if you haven't tried it, use one at a time. I work at a warehouse where they allow to have music playing on you as long as one earbud is in AND we're not allowed to have our phones with us. So the Gear IconX is perfect for my situation. I was able to get the earbuds to last my whole 6 hour shift by switching them back-and-forth.
Another cool feature is the "Ambient Sound" feature which allows you to turn on the microphones on your earbuds to help you hear sounds around you while using both earbuds. For some, it is not an ideal feature, but in the description it says "to help you be more aware of your surroundings". So if anyone tries to come up behind you or there are vehicles around you while you're out for a jog. Or if you just want to have a conversation with someone while listening to your music. I found it very helpful and pretty cool.
One thing I do wish, is that they add a wall charger to the package. It's very frustrating when you want to charger ALL your devices when going to bed but you only have 1 charger to go with.
Overall, the Samsung Gear IconX is definitely a win!! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. I would agree that there is a lot to improve on, especially with the battery life and charging issue. Other than those 2 things, the Gear IconX are definitely something I'm glad I invested in.

title: Great concept, battery life needs improvement
detailedReviews 17: content: These headphones are a great stab at a first generation product. They fit great, which was a big worry for me. I have no fear that i can get a workout in or go for a run without these falling out.
The charging case is common with these types of headphones. it charges the headphones, connects to your computer via micro usb, or the Samsung app to download music to the headphones. Its surprisingly small, and wished the case came with a slot where i attach a key ring, but serves its purpose well.
The touch pad design, although taking a little getting used to, works well and does what you need it to.
The battery life is short. Much shorter if you have your phone connected to them via blutooth. But the beauty of these headphones is that you don't have to have them connected. Its a huge plus when comparing them to all of the other wireless headphones on the market. The ability to use these headphones away from a phone is far and beyond my favorite feature.
They do not come with a "shuffle" setting, and the songs will play in order of how you put them on the headphones. Its a little disappointing, but not the end of the world.
Im very excited about these headphones. they are great for exercising, or anything you want to do away from a cell phone. There is room for improvement, but a great product for a first generation. 4/5 stars because of battery life, no key ring space on the charging case, and no shuffle feature.

title: Great first generation product, room for improvement
detailedReviews 18: content: I was so excited to try wireless earbuds for the first time in my life and I wasn't disappointed!
First of all, the Samsung Gear IconX Earbuds come in a compact, versatile case. The case serves as a storage unit and a charger. It is very convenient and works well to keep the earbuds protected when not in use. As a charger, the case is small and easy to use - definitely minimizes space.
Secondly, the design of the earbuds is sleek and stylish. They fit perfectly into the ears with very little noticeability. It takes barely any effort to insert them properly. Also, they alert you when the insertion is complete with a little beep.
Finally, the sound quality is phenomenal. As small as the earbuds are, the sound that emits from them is high quality. You get a full surround sound effect. In addition, there are options that allow you to chose to hear your outside surroundings along with your musical choices or not. My favorite features include that I can hear my notifications, take a phone call, and get updates on my fitness goals (how far I've traveled, etc). These earbuds are very easy to connect with Andriod phones.
The only negative that I've experienced with these earbuds is that the charge is approximately 2 hrs. However, being that they are wireless, I expected as much.
I would highly recommend these wireless earbuds!

Full Review
These headphones are amazing. I've always hated working out with wired headphones and actually broke an iPod once accidentally when my arm got tangled up in the wire while running.
A few years ago I tried a Bluetooth head phone which wrapped around the back of my neck and it was a big upgrade from a wired pair but it was rigid and heavy for hanging in/on my ears. My ears would actually start to feel a little sore by the end of the workout. That headset also would bounce a little while running which made it a little uncomfortable but the worst is if sweat got into the ear piece it was very difficult to get it out and I would have to wait for it to dry out.
My experience with the IconX ear buds has been magical. They fit snug and feel very light in your ear so almost don't even know they are there. The sound quality is great but if you do listen at the highest possible volume the battery life does not last very long (probably about 2 hours continuously which will probably get worse as you use them over time) but if you scale the volume back a notch or two they last much longer. The Charging case/Box is convenient and easy to use. There is multiple ear pieces for different sizing although I just used the Medium size that was already on them. I loaded up 250 songs and had quite a bit of space of the 4gb memory remaining. This feature is really cool if you don't want to hold a phone in your pocket while you run or exercise. The touch pad features to control the music (Skip, prev, up & down volume) are ok, it's too sensitive and probably little buttons would have been a better move. Overall I'm extremely impressed with these ear buds and every workout has been great with the ease of these earbuds. I would recommend these to anyone/everyone!!

detailedReviews 20: content: I have been a loyal Samsung customer for years. This is by far one of the best products they have put out. I currently have a Samsung Note 8 and I love how easy it was to pair up the Gear IconX. Previously I had been using wireless headphones while at work. Often time I would have to take 2 sets with me due to the battery life not last the full 8 hours. I'm happy to report that with the Gear IconX I can go a full shift and jam out to all my favorite tunes. The convenience of downloading music directly to them is also a bonus.
The comfort and style and also unmatched. I have tiny ear holes and often experience pain after prolonged wear with old fashioned ear buds. Not the case with these. They are incredibly well fit and did not need any adjustment, even during an intense workout. My favorite thing about the IconX is the ability to charge directly in the holding case. When fully charged, it holds 2 charges so I don't have to charge it daily.
I would highly recommend t hjis product. In fact, I have already been raving to all my friends and family.

title: Best Samsung product, easy pairing, great fit
detailedReviews 21: content: I was pleasantly surprised with wireless earbuds. Not only they fitted well onto my ears but they also come with 2 other size fittings. I was little bit skeptical at the beginning if they will stay inside but they actually did. At the beginning they might feel a little bit uncomfortable – it feels like they create vacuum inside your ears, but I got used to it after a while. Ambient sound (they have built in microphone that routes outside sounds to earbuds) feature needs some improvement, especially at higher volumes – you can hear some static and it feels unrealistic since there is a delay in sound transfer. Although I think it’s a great solution for music festivals to protect your ears.
I was not expecting it to have a built in sports tracker – yes it does monitor heart rate and an activity tracker that syncs data with Samsung Health app.
Overall great Bluetooth earbuds, battery lasts a little bit over an hour when streaming music from phone, but included case has a build in battery as well, which charges them as well. Earbuds have their own memory, so you can store over 3GBs of music on them.

title: Great Bluetooth earbuds, good sound and fit
detailedReviews 22: content: I’ve had the opportunity to test and review the Gear IconX.
Small and discrete with an elegant sophisticated look. These wireless headphones are definitely a must have for all of those fitness and music lovers.
It comes with more than enough internal memory to play all your favorite music, as well as playing from your phone through Bluetooth. very easy to transfer music directly to the IconX from your phone or computer with the Samsung gear app.
I found this more suitable for work outs and short travel due to the battery life time, three to three and a half hrs. From a full charge (the IconX case is also a battery bank). Very useful if you’re trying to keep track of your health, as it links with the S Health app.
A very cool feature is the ambient sound, you can listen to music and still keep a conversation with somebody, it’s a great feature to keep you aware of your surroundings, since it has a microphone built in (not recommended on a windy day)
You can receive and make phone calls, listen to your favorite tunes, keep track of your health and much more all in the power of your finger, as it is controlled through touch pads!
I highly recommend the Samsung Gear IconX.

detailedReviews 23: content: MXED......
Sound quality is excellent. Those complaining about it seem to have misread the manual or not read it at all. The manual is available in the gear app under the more options in the upper right. If you simply connect them to the computer and load media to the earbuds the sound quality will be compromised and will not be stereo. Each earbud has it's own memory and they need to be synchronized. Data on each earbud will automatically sync when the PC gear manager is opened. The PC gear manager program is actually stored within the earbuds. Simply open the iconx USB connection and look inside the tools folder, then use the gear manager install file.
These are extremely comfortable, have excellent sound quality, excellent touch controls, and do not move at all when running or working out; something I've never been able to say about other earbuds. The product is great! Just don't give up on it before putting in the effort to figure it out. Admittedly the quickstart guide is not very helpful, use the manual that is available through the gear app on your phone.have been waiting for really good cordfree earbuds forever...and these are pretty good. fit well, sound great, & even plays nice with my iphone....
but the battery life. the LONGEST i've noticed these lasting (and i did track this) is 70 minutes. weird how i keep seeing the battery life at 3 hrs in reviews.close, but until the battery can last longer than a workout, no cigar.

detailedReviews 24: content: First good!
Sounds great either music or the voice through the ear piece.
Battery life fair but needs percentage not just picture of battery with estimate time left.
Fits good in my ear but the one that was on the Gear torn while changing to other ear piece.
Second Bad!
I use Gear S3 and Note 9 but Can't have both devices connection with the IconX at the same time just one at a time either with Note 9 only or Gear S3 only.
App on Note 9 (Galaxy Wearable) drains battery on Note 9 faster for some reason.
Needs separate app for Gear S3 so the IconX can play music with the Gear S3.
Ambient Sounds with echo-ish!
Love the internal 4gb of memory for music and sounds great.
Love the style and it's fit.
Love the swipe and tap.
I used Samsung Fast Charger and it still works!
No fire or burn out! ;)

title: Good sound, fit, but connectivity issues
detailedReviews 25: content: Awesome! Yes I find these to be the best wireless ear buds on the planet. They fit perfect and if they don't one of the 3 wings & buds most likely will. They stay on your ears. They don't move around when you become more active. In fact, I forgot I had them in during a sparring match and was asked to take them out to my surprise. The sound is so clear at every level and they don't over exaggerate the bass. It is accurate, full and reminds me of a smaller version of my Klipschorns. If have any sense of tech you will pick the little nuances of these gems quickly and if you're not a few days of honest test runs will have you working them like a pro. I will say an hour and a half of Pure streaming is enough for a quality workout, but the three hours you receive when utilizing the stored songs on the internal memory re welcomed option. I bought these refurbished and had no issues and have enjoyed them every time I put them in. I wore these into work one day and one of my co-workers said what are wearing? I showed him. I demonstrated them for him and he mediately said I gotta have a pair. So now four co-workers have them and three wives have them! Every one of them has said other people at the gym havel ask them what they are, so I'm sure the dominoes will keep falling. Thank you Samsung.

detailedReviews 26: content: These earphones are so cool. I love that they have internal storage so you can go to the gym without your phone. I did find that the pods were sightly too big for my tiny ears, making it hard to get them in and keep them in all the way. The sensor that detects if it's in your ear or not kept thinking I had taken them out and pausing the song which was frustrating. I do like them better than the Apple air pods because of the internal storage, background noise settings (it's nice to hear what's going on around you while listening to music), and quick pairing. A couple times, I put the headphones in at the gym before turning the Bluetooth on my phone on and they quickly paired with someone else's Samsung phone and started playing their music in my earphones. Was kinda funny. Happened to me on an airplane once too.

detailedReviews 27: content: The concept behind the IconX is excellent, but the delivery of the final product is poor. My main issues are 1. Very Low Battery Life 2. Very Sensitive Controls 3. Poor Sound Quality.
Having 4GB of storage to add integrated music to the earbuds for independent play without needing Bluetooth connection to the phone is awesome however, the poor sound quality and poor battery life negate this awesome concept.
I used it both with and without Bluetooth and I was barely able to get a hour out of the battery life which is really poor in my opinion. I have other Bluetooth headphone devices that give me well over three hours of life on a single charge. One hour is not acceptable and that really ruins the uniqueness of the IconX.
The other issues just add to the disappointment; that being poor sound quality and the fingertip control is way to sensitive. Unfortunately at the higher than average cost, I would not recommend these. The independent use feature just doesn't offset these glaring design flaws.

detailedReviews 28: content: We've all read before how these type of ear pieces are better than the rest. Well THIS time they didn't lie. First off I LOVE being able to connect my music and movies without wires for long fights, the others I've used constantly come out your ear or that piece that goes over your ear gets irritating after awhile. Now to get to the workout, I've used them 3 times so far working out(I'm a heavy sweater) and they did not budge. LOVE the workout coach that's motivating you as you go, that lil bit of motivation pushed me though when I was ready to quit. I like having it linked directly to my Samsung health app as well, (did I say how much I enjoyed these icon x). The music didn't stop either, 1 tap to skip to the next track when slow songs came on (thought i took em out my workout playlist) was AWESOME! detailedReviews 29: content: I've had these earbuds for a few weeks now and overall am very happy. They are super comfortable. They never feel like they are going to fall out, which is a common issue for me with earbuds. The sound quality is pretty great as well. Granted I'm no audiophile but they sound at least as good as any other earbud I've ever used. The tap/touch controls work very well. It's nice that you can input commands on either earbud. I really like the ambient sound mode. It will pass through outside sound so that you aren't completely cut off from your environment. It's especially nice when I know I'm going to be interacting with people so I don't have to take them out. I don't use the onboard storage much but it's easy enough to set them up on your PC and load music onto them.
As far as negatives go, I really only have two. They don't bother me much but YMMV. One is the battery life - it's just too short. I can get around 3 hours of them which is plenty for a gym session or pretty much anything really. I've had them die on me but the times I need them for longer than that are few and far between. The other problem I have is with outdoors connections. Every time I've used them outdoors the sounds constantly breaks up and the track skips around very bad. It's effectively unusable. For me it's not really an issue because I don't spend any significant amount of time using them outdoors.
Again, very happy with these earbuds overall. The pros far outweigh the cons for my usecase. If you spend long periods outdoors these are probably not for you but otherwise they're pretty great.

I love the sleek look and feel to the buds and I like that they are not too large since I do have small ears. I would definitely recommend these to anyone with a Samsung device. title: Easy connect, great fit, love the charging case
detailedReviews 31: content: Upon receiving the IconX, I was impressed with the presentation. I unboxed and was pleased with the contents. I was a bit cautious about fit as my ears are not 'normal' but after playing with the different tips and wings, I found a comfortable fit. I was very happy with the ability to stay in my ears, regardless of my level of activity. The ambient mode is very useful. The only thing keeping me from giving this five stars is the phone calls only coming from one ear. Would prefer to have them from both. Other than that, it is a fantastic product. For my type of usage, the battery life is acceptable. Would be nice if they stayed charged in the case longer than they do, but as long as you plug it in every night, its not really an issue. The touch controls took some getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, they are very easy and intuitive to use. It would be nice if they would automatically make whichever one you pull from the case first the pairing one, and the other the passive one so that you don't have to switch it in the phone settings. All in all, this is a great product that I look forward to spending a lot of time using.

title: Comfortable fit, useful ambient mode, call issues
detailedReviews 32: content: I bought mine at the end of November 2017. I have used them about 10 to 12 times. The small black mesh that is at the end of the ear piece is attached with a small double sided tape or glue. I was cleaning the ends with a q-tip as per the Samsung instructions online. The black mesh came off on both of them. It is a lucky thing they did not come off in my ear or I would have been at the hospital getting my ears flushed out.
Also the volume in the right one is half of the left one. I tried everything I could read on the user boards to fix it. No luck. I now have to ship them back with a prepaid fed ex label. They say that if they were modified (they were not) don't know how you could. If they were dropped or got wet. Which also never happened that the warranty may not cover it.
I have read that sweat can cause problems with the speakers. Don't know yet what the issue with mine is.
If I am told that there will be a charge for a product like this that I have only used a limited amount then I will be very angry.
Also I will be without them while they either get fixed or get replaced. I want replaced ones as I believe they need to adjust the design of the mesh for safety reasons.

detailedReviews 33: content: This product is easy to use. After charging it, I paired it with my Android phone, and it told me "Connected" right in my ear! I thought that was so cool! I love the way it talks to you. I can easily raise or lower the volume of my music while driving without having to go to my phone. I absolutely love the workout detection. It is probably my favorite feature of this device. No more missed workouts! I am part of a running group, and I go to the gym often, so these are just perfect for that. At first I thought they were going to fall out of my ear, so of course I tested them by jumping around and running around my living room before actually going for my run. Needless to say, they passed the test! I already recommended this to my friends. The only thing I would add, is an extended battery. These don't seem made to replace your headphones entirely seeing that the battery runs out after a few hours, but they work wonderful for workouts and your drive to work. I love how it beeps when you press it, so that way you know that you skipped the song, and you know how many taps it registered. This is awesome technology, and I'm so glad these were made. It's like they though of me when they made this product!

detailedReviews 34: content: I'm a bit disappointed with these truly wireless earbuds. When $20 not-truly wireless but still... Aukey Bluetooth earbuds are sounding better than these $XXX samsung, it's really annoying. Aukey fully charged are good for at least 5-6 gym sessions (about 1 hour long each). I am telling you truth - these $XXX samsung will alert you (fancy thing) that it's at 10% battery low on the 4th session. And, I don't have any fancy features activated, like ambient sound, etc. They are kept in the charging case in between the sessions. Charging case is pos on its own. I can't pair them with "smart" treadmill because the case isn't with me and they won't pair without it. Again, the biggest annoyance is "how this $XXX thing could offend me with that cheap quality sound"

detailedReviews 35: content: Gear IconX 2018
A big improvement compared to the first generation IconX. Samsung took a lot of the complaints and revised them into the 2018 model.
Pros:
• Battery life! It’s the biggest improvement coming from the first generation earphones. Easily lasts the stated usage times.
• Updated charging method using USB Type C. This is becoming the new standard among new android smartphones and it’s nice to use one cable for both.
• The lid actually pops open when you press the button. The previous generation could get stuck in the closed position making it a pain to open. The carrying case is also shorter but wider with a grippy feel.
• Adjusted the fit nicely using the various size tips and wings.
Cons:
• Price can be intimidating but once you commit you won’t go back to wired earphones.

detailedReviews 36: content: These ear buds are awesome! I mostly use them for music and phone but my wife uses them for her workout and she loves them. They're comfortable to wear and battery life is good, we get about 1 1/2 to 2hrs of use. Being able to load music on to the ear buds is one of the best features about them cause it allows me to use them without having them connected to my phone. The other great feature I love is the ambient sound feature, with ambient sound on, it allows me to use them at work and the reason i say I love this feature is because I can also use them as ear plugs by simply turning off the ambient sound and to an aircraft mechanic this is awesome cause it eliminates the annoying removal and installation of regular earplugs every 2 minutes. These ear buds are just awesome! They are so easy to use. The charging case is compact and comfortable to put in pocket and take anywhere with you, very convenient. I would definitely recommend these to friends and family. Samsung did a great job with these ear buds.

detailedReviews 37: content: I have finally found the perfect workout companion.
The Samsung IconX provides fitness enthusiast a clutter free, simple to use, and stylish device to stay connected to your handset (Galaxy S+) while you sweat away at the gym, on the road, up and down those endless steps. I tested the headsets on a variety of my preferred workouts and was surprised by how comfortable the ear pieces fitted snugly into my ears even when at my most dynamic of moves. To test this further I used the Samsung IconX timed to my favorite Rocky soundtrack playlist while hitting the Boxing bag for 40mins with no disruption to sound quality, fiddling with the fit in my ear, and a few simple taps whenever I wanted to skip the next tune. Added bonus, the Ambient Sound feature is very handy and allows you to be alert to the surrounding sounds...such as your screaming coach!
I strongly recommend the Samsung IconX to anybody seeking to rid themselves of legacy cabled headphones, step into the future, its literally now and in your ear!

detailedReviews 38: content: Very high quality and super COOL! I found the wireless Bluetooth to be easy to use and very functional. The sound quality, ambient sound function and phone call answer/quality to be outstanding. The fitness tracker and battery life were the only opportunities. The fitness tracker did not work well during workouts that were more involved than simple jogs etc and lost connection with the phone (during jumping jacks for example). The only other opportunity area was battery life. For workouts lasting less than 90 minutes it works great. But for outdoor activities such as yard work etc where the duration of the activity was 2+ hours I had to have a back-up earbud solution. I did not take advantage of the mp3 player functionality as I think that has become less and less needed with phone and streaming services.
Overall I would recommend in terms of quality and cool factor but be aware of the possible limitations with more aggressive workouts and battery life.

detailedReviews 39: content: These little buds do so many things right that it's hard for me to not give them a 5 star review, they are seriously good.
Fit out of the box is perfect for me, my girlfriend, and my buddy, I never even tried the additional sizing bits because they were immediately comfortable.
Fit is very secure, I run a lot and these feel secure always, they kind of twist to lock in your ear, this was my biggest fear but it's not a problem at all
Pairing is really easy
Touch controls are easy and neat
The case charges them, it seems like it will charge both buds one time from empty, about at least
Built in fitness tracking is a sweet bonus too
The only downsides are that they only last me about 1.5 hours per charge, which means I need to charge them every time I workout and they are relatively expensive but they have way more features than competitors so it makes sense.
I really like these, still can't figure out how they fit so good and don't fall out while running.

detailedReviews 40: content: They are my favorite wireless earbuds to use. I love the features and they are a great fit. I have had some problems though. The charging case is an ongoing battle to get the buds set in it right so they will charge. My other major problem is with the mesh covering the speaker. I have had many problems with cleaning it and now, after following the cleaning instructions, the mesh has fallen off and I am unable to find replacements. I believe the newer models started to come with a cleaning brush and mesh replacements, but mine did not. When I contacted Samsung via chat, I was told to look on ebay. I would wait for an update to the design before buying these, they are good, but need improvements.

detailedReviews 41: content: Wireless ear buds with built in activity tracker including heart rate and 4gb music storage !! The package also included charging case, usb to micro usb adapter, charging cable, multi sized ear wings and user guide.
The pros:
They sound amazing and are much more comfortable in the ear than I anticipated.
The touch controls are easy to use once you've gotten used to the interface.
Uploading music was an absolute breeze and they held my standard tracks with plenty of room to spare.
Having no cords to catch on things has been very liberating.
The cons:
The charge is short lived but acceptable for most workouts or standard outdoor adventuring.
The Bluetooth connection with my Galaxy s7edge would cut out from time to time.
There is no menu, that I've figured out anyhow, to navigate the music you load on the ear buds. So far my experience has been only a random shuffle of songs with no way to play a full album or select an artist.

title: Amazing sound, comfortable, but short battery life
detailedReviews 42: content: I love the idea of these, I just don't think they are ready for prime time. And that's not Samsung's fault. The batteries in these just don't last long enough, much like the batteries in everything we use. So, I'm going to start with the pro's:'
1. Great fit, they don't move and not uncomfortable at all. This was a pleasant surprise and I've used them running with no issues.
2. Once paired, they automatically pair when you put them in your ear. Really nice touch, no on or off buttons to try to find.
3. Touch gestures work! I wasn't sure this would work very well, but volume up and down worked great, pausing songs and starting them back up was easy.
4. Charging case is nice and small enough to carry in your pocket.
Con's:
1. Battery life
2. Battery life
3. Battery life
Battery is rated for about 3.5 to 4 hours and it could last that long with music saved to the device itself (about 4GB internal memory). But if you are streaming it doesn't get there. Seems to be closer to 1.5 hours. Makes sense, bluetooth uses power so it is going to have some drain. Again, this isn't limited to Samsung. Batteries just need to evolve for a product like this to really work for me.
Bottom line: If your workouts or use of a product like this amount to around an hour, this is a good product. If your workouts are longer then this won't really do the job and I would suggest sticking with a wired product.

detailedReviews 43: content: I will start with the positives of these earbuds. First, the sound is extraordinary! They certainly sound better than the earbuds that come with any Samsung phone. They are light! The earbuds themselves are extremely light, and they bear little weight on the ears. The touch controls are convenient, and they are easy to use. And! The Bass is amazing on these! Close to Beats quality on the bass of certain songs! The negatives are that they do tend to fall out, when looking down, or doing everyday tasks. They are not very comfortable. I even used the smaller ear pieces, and they still aren't comfortable. It is the little loop that makes them uncomfortable. If I were able to take those off (and I did try, but the plastic against the ears were not comfortable) they would be better. Overall, I would recommend them to a friend, but I would recommend them with caution.

title: Extraordinary sound, but uncomfortable and fall out
detailedReviews 44: content: I just received my IconX today. After reading the reviews, I knew enough to CHARGE them before putting them in My ears. Charging didn't take long at ALL. Once I plugged them into my head :) they paired right up.
The CONS that I have read about, and what I have seen myself in using these earbuds:
-problem pairing: Personally, I have had no trouble at ALL with this. Not only did they pair with My Samsung Galaxy Note5, they also paired with my ipod touch. (only note, you need to place the earbuds back in the charging case for a second, put them back in your ears and they will pair right up with the device. Once paired, end of issue)
-sound quality (lack of bass): On this I have to agree (sorta). When listening to music streamed via My Galaxy Note 5, the sound was weak, not much volume and VERY little bass. HOWEVER! When used with My ipod touch (which I normally use for music anyway, not phone), the sound is AWESOME! NICE bass, plenty of deafening volume. These little earbuds sound great.
-confusing touch controls: O.o seriously? This could not be easier. Anybody that has used a Beats Headset, already knows these controls.
In short, LOVE these earbuds!

detailedReviews 45: content: I am pretty tech savvy and have trouble operating these ear buds. Operation has been very frustrating.
The buds can't keep connected to the phone. If I want to listen to music stored on them they can't decide to keep playing or plays only from one ear bud. I have to turn off the Bluetooth in my phone to play the stored songs. A setting for the earbuds Bluetooth on/off would really be nice.
I was able to play internal songs while on a bike ride but the battery didn't last long. There is no indication of the battery level. When on a bike ride you want to be able to hear what is happening around so I turned on the ambient sound. It worked great except it was windy and the wind noise was really bad. As a work around I turned the ambient sound off and took one earbud out. I tried recording the workout but the battery died and apparently the progress to that point was not stored.
Great concept but frustrating at best.

detailedReviews 46: content: Great great great! I've been looking for a good pair or earbuds for my workouts and for when I go running. These are so fantastic! I don't use them to pair with my phone, I use them as a stand alone device to play music and track ny fitness. They've been great and they have great battery life. I've been averaging about 3.5-4 hours per charge. I only have my left ear so I only use the left one. I wish I could activate ambient sound with only one earbud bc when you put them in you really can't hear ANYTHING. Perhaps they will do an update soon to fix that. I was able to find a good deal on eBay for these and they have been such a great purchase so far. I use them everyday at the gym and park. I really hope they make a second gen ones with an even longer lasting battery. Also I hope they integrate these earbuds with a virtual assistant. Like there has been times when I wanted to play a playlist or play all the songs I have by Lady Gaga or something. Would be cool to talk to my earbud and have her search and built my playlist at that time. Overall so recommend these. I love mine! (:

detailedReviews 47: content: My Gear iconX earbuds were easy to setup and they sound very good - no Bluetooth coloration. There are a large number of functions that are accessed by various taps and swipes on the primary earbud, which by default, is the the right earbud. This will take practice to get used to, as it's easy to tap too much, too firm, not firm enough, etc. in order to access the desired function. Hence, mistakes are easy to make. This is just the nature of the beast - there's simply no room to handle this level of functionality otherwise. For simple volume adjustments, as an example, I find it easier to simply adjust the level control on the phone. This should NOT detract one from purchasing, however. They are really good. I've listened for several hours at this point and have yet to experience any dropouts or other audible anomalies. Battery life is very good.

I used my bottle of water as a cooler device by keeping it on the earbud playing the message. I try again this monring when the temperature outside wasnt too hot but I got the same issue. Depending of where the sun was, my left or my right, the earbud played the same message. detailedReviews 49: content: Great Fit
Great for workouts
Good Sound when fitted correctly...terrible low end when not.
Terrible battery life on mine the right bud drains faster than the left.
Inaccurate HRM and Pedometer.
I love how these fit and sound...no heart pumping base but you get used to it quickly. If the battery life was better and both HRM and Pedometer could be calibrated....it would be perfect.
These don't sound as good as my Jaybird X2's but I prefer them overall. No skips and dropouts like the X2's and both buds stay synced. The call quality seems to be better than the X2's as well.
If the HRM and pedometer drains the battery then Samsung should get rid of them as they are off by about 35% and useless. The integration with other Samsung products is not intuitive and will frustrate those with no patience.
Overall I love them as it suits my needs but for general listening I wouldn't recommend them.

detailedReviews 50: content: First off great design and feels really snug and secure. It will not fall out of your ear at any activity. I'm pretty sure you can bungee jump and they won't come out.
Splash resistance is a great feature nowadays so if it drops in a puddle you can act on the 3 second rule and you should be just fine.
Super intuitive and responsive to finger commands.
The charging case Is awesome and will last for two charges on the go.
The sound is crisp and clear with great base handling.
You are able make and receive phone calls however you will receive it in mono, meaning only the designated main earpiece will function. the call quality is amazing with no flaws.
4GIG of internal storage will give you around 2.5 hours of stand-alone play (not connected to a device via BT).
While connected to a device via BT you will get about an hours play and that is the only downfall of the product.

detailedReviews 51: content: I was so excited to try these wireless headphones. For one because they didn't have a wire like some other brands of headphones that are wireless. I was skeptical about them fitting in my ears. Unfortunately, my reservations about them are somewhat true. It took me several tries to get them to fit and stay in my ear properly. I tried all of the different sizes until I found one that didn't hurt my ears. I'm not a big fan of the in ear type of headphones. I prefer the Apple headphones. They are much more comfortable. Now to compare the pros and cons. I can't justify paying retail price for these headphones. Here's why: Pros, they are super easy to pair. I had no problem pairing them to phone. The sound quality is amazing. They are somewhat noise cancelling. The charging case that came for them makes them easy to charge. I haven't had a chance to add songs to the headphones using my computer but I doubt it will be difficult. They've included an adapter which makes it easy to add your music. Charging the headphones doesn't take very long. Cons, the battery life doesn't seem to last very long. For some reason one headphone always dies before the other one. I don't like that the headphones don't turn on at the same volume. I have to adjust the volume on each side. I'm still getting a feel for adjusting the volume. I always end up skipping to the next song or pausing the music I'm listening to. I have still a couple of weeks to keep testing them out. I'll add another review if anything changes.

detailedReviews 53: content: I think these are a great product. The ease of use is impressive and they work pretty well. I have yet to really test these while working out specifically, but I look forward to trying that. The charging case is nice and fits well in the pocket, although I feel like it'd be nicer if it was flatter. Even if that meant they had to be a little wider, I'd prefer the flatness for pocketability.
One thing that keeps me at 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is no voice dialing option. It'd be great if when they're paired with my phone the first touch and hold option was to activate voice dialing. Honestly, without that, I don't know if I can recommend them for someone who doesn't work out a lot and would probably say to look at other options. The need to start a workout is not high enough in frequency to be the first touch and hold option.

detailedReviews 55: content: OK, we all know that wired earbuds are the decades old standbys for on the go listening, but these Bluetooth earbuds are worth a look. Why? I'm always getting earbuds pulled out of one ear or another when cord got caught on something. The Gear Icon X earbuds ROCK! They fit nicely and you can move without any worry of a cord. I like the case that recharges the earbuds about 3x before the case needs to be charged. I haven't had a chance to try the fitness tracker (Samsung phone required for that feature to work I believe).
Only reason I took a star off is due that the battery life is about 1.5 hrs if streaming via Bluetooth.

I usually listen to audible books while mowing the lawn or trimming with the weed eater. I can't hear the narrator above the sound of the mower/trimmer. Otherwise...great product. Better than others I've owned. Will use my over-the-air Beats for mowing, etc.

Today getting ready to do my workout surprise. The left earbud is not working, I checked and make sure it was clean. Checked in Youtube and Samsung forum, it seems it is a common defect from manufacturing base in the reviews and videos.
I giving 02 stars waiting from the response from Samsung Costumer service case N# 5060738348, that I apply for replacement of the equipment due the fact it is still in warranty (15 days).
Thanks in advance for any further assistance in my case.

detailedReviews 60: content: I got these for Christmas last year and they stopped working properly after 3 months. I've been hoping one of the updates would fix things, but no luck. I can't use the earbuds during a phone call, bluetooth connection doesn't stay. Recently the right earbud sound has degraded tremendously and I can barely hear out of it. Luckily they adjusted the calibrations or something because for a long time I couldn't make it through a 3 mile run without the sensors going crazy from normal running head movement. It's not easy to use the "tapping" when running and then the things are sketchy during other workouts because of head movements.

detailedReviews 61: content: I waited a couple of months before I did the review to these earbuds. While they are very lightweight after having it in your ear for a while it starts to get uncomfortable. I would be working out and would have to adjust it while would lead to my music being interrupted. Another complaint of mines would be the sudden stopping of music, I would have to tap it a few times to finally get the thing playing again. Also there are times when I'm on a call and the earbud would switch back to my phone then when I go to look at the phone it would switch back to the earbuds. All these annoying little problems adds up to make my experience with the earbuds bad. Not worth what I paid for it in my opinion.

detailedReviews 62: content: I was skeptical, but I am a devoted Samsung consumer, so I kept an open mind.
They take some getting used to, mostly as far as swiping to the left and right to forward a song, and swiping up and down for the volume. Whenever I try to forward a song by swiping, I am adjusting the volume instead. But if you tap the earbud twice, it also advances the songs, so it is not a huge deal.
I love that I do not have to take my phone with me on a walk or run if I don't want to!! I actually loaded songs right onto the earbuds, and it was really easy! If you do take your phone with you, though, you can connect to many if not all of the music apps, such as Pandora, and Milk music.
The battery life is not wonderful, and I think that is my only complaint. It is good for about an 1 and a half.

detailedReviews 63: content: A month ago I reviewed these buds. The fit and battery life were, and still is, top notch. My issue in my 1st review was the left bud volume dieing and after receiving a new pair the same issue is back - which tells me this is a hardware issue. Samsung is aware of it since MOST people have the exact same issue in the exact same bud. Disappointing to say the least.
I'm returning these buds for a full refund and likely won't buy the next iteration until 6 months after release to see if they've addressed this issue or if there's a new problem. I had high hopes for these buds but I can't use them for the gym and would not recommend them to anyone.

For those who has issue with charging and experiencing it as if the device doesn't get charged properly, there is definitely an issue with the charger case. Here is the work around and hope that Samsung can fix the issue by releasing a software update. Once the charger is full and shows green lights, simply just open the lid slightly but not completely shut. Then just put a rubber band around it to keep the headset from falling off. I think the charger case doesn't recognized that the headset are full and keeps charging while the head sets kept getting discharged. I hope this helps.

For years ive been hoping for earbuds to be on both sides (headphones) and be good looking and great functioning. I have a lot of electronics and everything is all Samsung. Now these are my favorite gadget slash everyday wear item. Im a driver for a living can't say where but i seem to wear brown everyday! So i use them to break the silence, also to keep track of all the s health info, and listen to music or stream my audio book.. The only function i can think of that i would improve down the road is battery life. Which for me still isn't a problem. Thats about how often i take breaks from media stuff anyway. There only suggestion was to spend another 200 dollars and purchase the complete product again. In the short time I had the ear buds I was less than impressed with the performance of the ear buds. the initial charge only lasted 3 hours the second charge only lasted 4 hours. I realize that it was not samsungs fault the charger was lost or stolen but to not offer any replacement parts is unacceptable.

Looked at reviews and forums, and this is a common issue with the earbuds and with the Gear App trying to work with them. Good design and comfort but bad software and internal hardware. Not only for listening purposes but also for keeping track of my distance of walking and giving me my heartrate in intervals during my workout. This is an innovative feature to add to earbuds. To me the sound quality is great. Balanced bass and treble with a clear sound. For all the features that it has, it is worth the money. They are designed very well to fit snug in your ear where you don'the have to worry about them falling out. The battery life is short, but whats great is the carrying case that also serves as your base to recharge. Place them in the case and then you charge up ready to go again. Go Samsung!!!!!

So he returned them because of that, and the left one kept falling. He was disappointed because he wanted them so bad.
Hers: Mine worked out the box. I wore them around the house and they worked great. Then I went to the gym. It kept unpairing, so I had to stop and adjust it in my ear. This was while i was running on the traidmil. That was frustrating. During my work out it kept impairing, and i had to stop and adjust them until they paired again. I will try again.

Essentially you can turn them on. Bluetooth works well and sound quality is okay.
Try downloading the PC manager so I can do the update for the earbuds like it recommended, and the PC manager won't connect to my earbuds. Try uninstalling and reinstalling, the PC software, no dice.
Also the "Ambient Noise" function is not good. Delay is miserable and for some reason it doesn't come in on the right headphone. Probably just microphone issues.

detailedReviews 72: content: This product is very easy to use right of the box. The ear buds die kind of fast BUT the case that you carry them in acts as a battery pack and charges them right back up within 20 minutes MAX. The only down side that I have seen so far is that you can listen to incoming text messages and you can receive incoming phone calls but you cannot call anyone or send a text message from the earbuds. The only way to make a call from the earbuds are to take your phone out and call someone and then you can use the earbud to talk. This is inconvenient if your driving or running and don't want to take your phone out. So yes you can use them on calls you just cant use them to make a call. So once you select the person you want to call from your phone the ear buds will then pick up the call. This is very inconvenient when driving.

detailedReviews 75: content: There are three issues with this product, the battery life between the left and right ear bud is different, varies by around twenty minutes at times, so left side will last 40min and the right side 60min. The second issue is that the left ear bud is much louder than the right, this makes these basically unusable, it is extremely annoying, I installed all the latest updates, tried everything that I could find on the web but no luck, it seems to be a design flaw. The other thing that drives me crazy is the fact that these are not aerodynamic, so if you have a road bike or mountain bike and a slight breeze hits your ears the noise is so loud that you won't be able to hear your music even at full volume, that's besides the fact that you could only hear the music on one side to start with. Stay away from these, these aren't even worth $20.

detailedReviews 77: content: I love these things for workout. But...
First of all, I never use workout couch, just because I do my workouts my way, at my pace and hate hearing this annoying voice: faster, faster, slow down, you are doing great, etc. It's just annoying a stupid. If I accidentally push the button that start workout couch i have to take it out my ears, put it back into the case, close it, then take them out and put back into my ears. I get it, it's not that difficult, but it does slow me down when I am sweating on elliptical ir a treadmill and trying to get the case and not to drop things on a floor while I ran, annoying. And there is only option to do left or right earbud for workout, there is no complete off switch for chouch, no disable option.
And second, I am sure there are plenty of people who use them for other ocasions, like gardening, relaxing, taking a stroll along the park, etc., I do those things too. And sometimes my hands aren't exactly free to put them carefully into my ears, sometimes I hit that button and chouch activates again. Ugh, please, make and update with complete couch disable option. These earduds are not exactly cheap, make them worth the money I paid. When I bought them, there wa no mentioning of "no off switch for the couch" I assumed that as many other electronics it would have on and off swich for every option. Make it happen, UPDATE!
Oh, and by the way, the customer service person, did not really want to listen to me, kept trying to end conversation... I was waiting to be connected to cervise for long enough, but your people have no patience with customers, just remember, there is plenty of other peoducts on a market, I don't get respect for the money I spent, - you don't get my business any more...

detailedReviews 78: content: Samsung has made its 2nd attempt at a wireless headphone. The physical size has not changed, but the holder/charger has reduced in size drastically. This reduction in size now allows you to slip it into your pocket to be able to charge when it is needed. Which is not as often as the previous version, but only allows a partial recharge of the ear buds, before needing to be charged itself.
I have stored around 300 songs on the devices, with plenty of more storage available. They hold a total of 4GB worth (about 1000 songs). That’s way more than you could possible listen to in the average work week (50 Hours). But still way less than the average playlist.
The sound quality is as good as any wired devices I have tried. They did take a bit of testing to get the correct size Earbud Tips for each ear, but well worth the effort to take the time for it. The Wing Tips easily make customizing them for that 'Perfect' fit, although they do take some time to get used to having them in your ear, as they are heavier that the other wired versions.
The best improvement I have seen over the previous version, is the battery life. The battery last almost a good 2x the previous version. Being able to go through a full day 10 -12 hours of work without having to charge makes for a pleasant update over it. This is not a full 10 hours of listening, but in an office environment, you will always have some interruptions. This is where the Ambient Sound comes in handy, thus allowing you to keep up with the surrounding activities, while still able to Listen, or talk on your mobile.
By far the best feature I have found, is being able to use powered equipment and not worry about the noise level. The IconX 2018 is not registered as a dB reducer for safety purposes, but from a home owners point of view, they help keep the noise from the daily activities down.

title: Improved battery life, ambient sound handy
detailedReviews 79: content: I was very optimistic about the IconX ear buds when I was asked to review them. I received them, charged them up, linked up with my Samsung Galaxy S7 and started streaming music to them as I worked in my yard. It was difficult to keep these earbuds in my ears so I switched out the rubber cups and loop that holds them into my ears. They still did not fit snugly in my ears and I have to adjust them often and sometimes catch them when they fall out. It would have been nice if Samsung had provided the ability to attach a leash onto the ear buds so that a loose earbud does not get lost or damaged with a fall. Because the IconX have touch sensitive controls on the ear buds I have to be careful when adjusting them to not accidentally switch the music or functionality or touch the heart rate sensor. On to sound quality, the sound quality is not as good as I expected and the volume is a bit low even at full on. I can get 1 ½ - 2 hours of play time before they need to be charged. Charging occurs in a pill shaped case that has a battery so that the earbuds can charge away from the power source. One of the earbuds goes to green while charging but the other one blinks red. The earbuds still both charge and I cannot understand the reason for the blinking red indicator. The earbuds however run down the power while in the case so the case still needs to be charged often. The earbuds each have 4 GB of storage so that music can be copied onto them through a USB connection to a computer. I have found the ambient sounds feature to be useful when it is not winds. If it is windy it sounds like wind across a microphone. I did not test the workout mode because I have a fitness band on my wrist and it is easier to use.
The bottom-line for me is that I cannot justify the premium price for these earbuds when my much less expensive Bluetooth headphones are more comfortable, sound better, and last longer on a charge. I will be returning these earbuds.

title: Difficult fit, low volume, not worth price
detailedReviews 80: content: I was really excited to get these after I heard about all the features. Initially, I loved them. After a few months (never dropped them, got them wet, exposed them to extreme temperatures) the left one began having consistant issues charging. Everytime I'd put them in the case to charge the right one would charge without issue and the left one would not charge 90% of the time - seriously possibly more. Now the left ear bud is so quiet even at full blast I can barely - and often not at all - hear any sound through them. When I can it is about 5x more quiet than the right one. Both of these issues are VERY widely common, a quick Google search can verify that. For $150 (I paid $200) I would STRONGLY and sincerely urge you to save your money and the headache and consider a better product. Samsung is VERY aware of these issues but in all of my searches I have not once seen them offer a reasonable solution nor fix this issue after a year. Seems like rectifying a widespread issue their loyal customers experience isnt as important as making and selling more product to future dissatisfied customers.

detailedReviews 81: content: I usually don't write negative reviews, but if I can save one other person from wasting their money, this will be worth my time. On my quest for the perfect grass cutting headphones, I found these beautifully crafted little devils. They securely fit in my ears, and I could not wait to use them. My excitement quickly faded.
The benefits of the design clash with the tap commands. Every time I touched the earphone it did some unwanted function. Often, without touching anything, the earphones would simply shut off and then turn on and reconnect. I have a Samsung note 5, so I don't think compatibility was the problem, but the headphones had a mind of their own. I knew the short battery life might be a problem, but that never really bothered me. Attempting to keep the volume at a level I could hear the music was a problem.
The gear software allows you to set volume levels, but every time the headphones disconnect and then reconnected, the volume level would reset to an unreasonable low volume. While the system gave warnings about high volume levels, trust me when I write that at maximum volume, which I was never able to maintain, my hearing was safe.
I purchase a lot of "toys." This by far was my worst purchase. If you intend to buy a set of IconX headphones, please do your research. There are far better products on the market. My frustration over this product was so great that I finally gave my set to a friend.

detailedReviews 82: content: I work from home a lot and like to tune out those around me or the television that is constantly blaring, but still am up and around so my boyfriend got me these for Christmas so I wouldn't have to unplug. The first time they were great! Stayed perfectly in my ear, then I get the in-ear warning that I had 10% battery remaining til they finally turned off a little over an hour later. Maybe I didn't have them charged all the way? Tested it again another night with a full battery. Lasted an hour and a half. Okay, maybe play with just one ear while charging the other (which defeats the purpose of drowning everything out). I thought I had it! But no, you select a main ear, so the second you take that one out to charge and wear the other one, the Bluetooth disconnects! (All tests were performed while streaming. I didn't upload any music so I wouldn't have to perform a reset if I returned them. I have heard the battery lasts up to 3 hours with uploaded music, not streamed, which still isn't acceptable for me.) Finally decided to take them back. A note on the charger: once the lights are green that indicate they're charged, leave the case open, otherwise it will re-drain. Leave it in your bag to charge wirelessly and you'll have some dead earpieces. I have not given up on Samsung however. All of my gadgets are Samsung, but since this is really a new innovative product, I anxiously await the sequel!
I would recommend for those using it to workout since that typically lasts about as long as the battery.

title: Battery drains quickly, case re-drains power
detailedReviews 83: content: When i review items, i like to give first impressions of the item and then give it about 2 weeks to come up with my results on how i feel about it.
First impressions:
Packaging: 10/10 Looks sleek and very well put together. Not too much paperwork and guides are straight forward
Product: I love that the headphones charge in the case and that the case isn't too big or too small. I like that there were different ear clips sizes and different ear bud sizes. Sound output is awesome when connecting to my S7 Edge. I like that is has the option to let in outside noise so you are aware of the noise thats happening around you. I love love love the you can connect it to any device that has bluetooth so its not only for one specific brand.I love that the charging pod holds a charge so it doesn't have to always be connected to an outlet when charging; perfect when on the go! One of the best things is the look of them, they just look amaze!
The negatives: I have 2 phones, the S7 Edge and my iPhone 7plus and multiple tablets. Works seamlessly with my Edge but anything else connecting via bluetooth is a miss 99% of the time. The audio comes out distorted and sounds horrible. You get better sound from headphone at your local dollar store. I also dislike the fit of the headphones. There are different bud sizes and different ear clips, but its a hassle to fit them onto your ears. I find myself shoving them inside my ear to keep them in place. That negative leads into the negative with them being touch sensitive. When putting them in your ear you find yourself pressing against the touch sensors and either changing songs or making selections you didn't want to happen like starting a workout. One of the biggest negatives is that the battery on the headphones only hold about an hour to and hour and a half. Thats not enough to use on a road trip or even on normal use throughout the day.
Final thoughts: After about a month of use with these headphones/Buds, I like to idea and the concept of them but i think they missed majorly on execution. I think to myself that if they rushed production to be ahead of apple and not focusing on the overall product...Note 7....Hmmmmm. There are too many issues with these buds for me and i don't think i would recommend them to family for purchase. Purchase price at $150-$200 seems too steep for a product with this many issues and not that great functionality....
Good try Samsung, ill be waiting for your improved version in the near future.

detailedReviews 84: content: I have used the Gear IconX now for several weeks and can honestly say it is a really good device. I received the ear buds as a trial from #InsidersGearIconX and have used it with both the S7 edge and the Pixel XL. I want to break down this review to 5 sections:
Connectivity: The Gear IconX pairs very easy with both the S7 edge and the Pixel XL and I only had a few drop outs.
I have used the Jaybirds and could never get them to fit this snug. They are very comfortable and I never experienced ear fatigue. The ear buds fit just right as to cancel noise out unlike the Plantronics Backbeat FIT.
For the Pixel XL, you have to use a computer to transfer music to the ear buds. For the S7 edge, you can just attach the case to your phone and transfer music. The touch pads are really sensitive to the touch and often when increasing the volume it would pause the music. The touch pads don’t have any click or haptic feedback, just a beep when touched. This definitely could be improved. The biggest difference between using the Gear IconX with the S7 edge vs the Pixel XL is the heart rate monitor. I could not get the heart rate monitor to read on my Pixel but it worked pretty well on the S7 edge. While using the S Health app and running on the S7 edge, the heart rate monitor was fairly accurate and I compared it to my Polar H7 HR monitor.
I have tried all of them (Jaybirds, Plantronics, Beats, Bragi Dash, etc.) and this is the best. The only recommendations I would make to Samsung is to make the touch pad less sensitive, improve the charging mechanism on the charging case and allow for Bluetooth transfer of music (similar to the Gear S2 and Fit2).

title: Fit and sound incredible, best for workouts
detailedReviews 85: content: Design: A
These earbuds are great in theory; the combination of features, sound, look, and fit are what you'd expect out of a pair of earbuds for the price.
Execution: D
The overall performance is absolutely not what you'd expect out of a pair of earbuds for the price. Bluetooth problems, battery life, and changing issues are some of the specifics I will elaborate on below.
Fit: B+
As far as in-ear headphones, these fit great. I have odd ears; I use the small tips for my right ears and the medium tips for another, so the option to switch them is nice. That being said, I have never liked the in-ear design. I prefer designs that don't rely on the tip being wedged in your ear canal. These can become uncomfortable after prolonged periods of time, but I have never worn a pair of in-ear headphones where this was not the case.
Sound: B+
If you're a true audiophile, you're probably not looking at bluetooth headphones. If you're not, the sound is definitely good enough. Like most bluetooth headphones, you're losing some of the extreme highs and lows, but everything you do get is pretty crisp and clear.
Battery: D
The battery life in these is terrible, and is probably their worst feature. I've had them last as little as an hour, usually get close to 2 hours before the 10% warning when listening on my phone. You can double the life by using the built in storage, but this limits you to preloaded music that you can only shuffle. The charging case will charge them back up pretty quickly, but it's still annoying to take them out for half an hour while you let them charge. Plus it's not too hard to wear the charging case out during the day too if you listen to music a lot.
Charging Case: B
As mentioned before, they charge the earbuds relatively quickly. However, sometimes they won't charge if they're not sitting in there right. The good news is the charging lights will let you know this is the case, and you can just take them out and put them back in and you'll be good to go. The bad news is it takes a 10-15 seconds for them to start blinking, so there's a good chance they'll be in your pocket out of sight before you see the blinking lights. I will admit that since I use different size tips for mine, I may experience this problem more so than others.
Bluetooth: C-
Range doesn't seem to be an issue; you can get up and walk to another room and have uninterrupted connection. It seems to be rapid movements, particularly biking, that mess up the connection. This is pretty annoying for me as I bike a lot. Other random connection interruptions happen sometimes, though it's seldom. You just stick them back in the case and take them back and they'll be good to go.
Heartbeat Sensor: A+
Take this with a grain of salt, I've only used it a couple times because I'd prefer to spare my battery, but I have had no issues with the heartbeat sensor, and it's a neat little feature.
Controls: B
They're fairly straightforward. Sometimes you hit something you don't mean to, but they're definitely a helpful feature
Storage: B
Plenty of storage, which is good. Having to listen to your music on shuffle is not so good.
Overall: C
Good headphones in the grand scheme of things, but not sure if they're worth the price.

title: Good headphones, but not worth the price
detailedReviews 86: content: I haven't had a ton of time using these and this is my first pair of completely wireless earbuds but I'm very impressed so far.
Pros:
-Earbuds and case have a nice look and feel.
-Compact case
-Wingtips and eartips can be changed independently
-Snug fit
-Battery life
-ambient noise feature
Cons:
-somewhat difficult to pair
-uncomfortable after prolonged use
-ambient noise feature doesn't automatically back turn on after it turns itself off
-Touchpad difficult when running
One of the first things that I noticed when I opened the box was the design. Both the earbuds and the case have a very elegant and sleek look. I've already had a couple of people ask me about them because they like the look. The case is compact and easily fits in my pocket. The earbuds themselves feel sturdy and lightweight. It took me a little while longer than most earbuds to get them paired up with my phone, but once I did, the features available was impressive (I have a Samsung S7).
Let me just start by saying that I have a very difficult time finding a pair of headphones that fits perfectly with no discomfort after prolonged use and unfortunately these are no exception. I really appreciate that the wingtips and the eartips can be exchanged independently and aren't paired together like other brands. It gives you so many more options when trying to find the right fit. These do stay in place much better than I was expecting. I tried to shake them out and was unsuccessful. But unfortunately they do still hurt my ears after wearing for a few hours.
One of the main reasons I didn't purchase the first generation of these was the negative reviews regarding the battery life, but I haven't had any issues with it yet, even after 3-4 hours of use. The charging case is a really nice feature that has come in handy. The other one I use the most is the ambient noise. It takes a little getting use to. But it's nice to have when I'm shopping so I'm not completely unaware of what's going on around me. I have noticed it turns itself off if there's a lot of ambient noise and once it turns off it doesn't turn on unless you go back into settings and turn it on. Also, the touchpad is nice to have on both sides but it's very tough to use while running. I paused/played my music 75% of the time I was trying to adjust the volume. Hopefully there's just a bit of a learning curve.
Overall they seem to be a pretty solid pair of earbuds. I look forward to using them more and seeing what else they can do.

title: Uncomfortable after prolonged use, touchpad difficult
detailedReviews 87: content: PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS LIKE I DID. I bought these awhile back and here is a short list of just some of the problems I've had:
1)Took forever to get to pair. DO NOT USE THE SAMSUNG GEAR APP!
2)Case stopped charging one of the buds. It then fixed itself getting my hopes up only to crush them when it broke again
3)Each earbud picks a time to randomly disconnect
4)Plays a stupidly loud pinging sound whenever you're already having a bad day
5)God forbid you don't wear them when it's 70 and sunny because the range goes down with the square of temperature
6) One died entirely and now only plays TV static tones
At this point you may be thinking "hmm maybe this guy just got a defective pair. He should make a warranty claim" Well I'd love to but when you go to the Samsung website and try to request service for the product you get a "404 page does not exist." Save yourself the headache and just move on. For context I also own a Samsung watch so you can tell I like the masochism.

title: Numerous issues, save yourself the headache
detailedReviews 88: content: I purchased these about 2-3 months ago now. The battery life is great, the touch controls are great, the comfort is acceptable, the "ambient noise" is neat for hearing surroundings or even hearing yourself sing (but it hurts my ears a bit, like listening to high pitched music that's too loud). I've noticed little by little the sound volume seems to be degrading. Originally max volume was fairly loud and could tune out the passing traffic during my morning commute, 3 month fast forward to now, and it's about 60-70% of of what it was. Fine for quiet surroundings, about useless for loud surroundings now.
The headphones are good, but I expected it to last longer before degrading to this level. If money isn't an issue, buy it. Otherwise, I'd advise a $30 pair of Bluetooth headphones that will last about the same length of time; albeit without all the cool features.

I SEE WHY APPLE IS KICKING SAMSUNG BUTT. Sent back my second pair because they broke. Sent them back January 1st 2019 and today is February 10th. Haven't received them. I was told by customer service someone threw them away and they would send me a gift card. Then I get a message saying they were sending the earbuds. I called today 2/10/19 and I was told I wasn't receiving neither one and to call back later to find out why. 2 pair of earbuds sent back leas than a year and now I'm being told I will not receive my gift card or a replacement earbuds. Sound quality is shabby and it does nothing it designed to do they do t turn of if i take one of i cant control them from the earbudat alland the sound drops out constantly not to mention the strange sound that seems to appear ot of nowhere that wont stop until it stops on its own. These earbuds are garbage and i wouldnt recommend them to anyone which is a disappointment to me because i have samsung products throughout my home as well as phone ,tablet and televisions and are totally satisfied with the quality of all of them but you dropped the ball on these 2nd generation Icon x's. She said that she would forward this to the samsung engineers(??) and that I should post on the Samsung Community for support. I did that to which a Samsung moderator told me to reach out to the OS manufacturer for support. REALLY? so Let me get this str8..I need to contact APPLE for a SAMSUNG ISSUE? I would LOVE to get my money back and find something else since I can't get no support. It's a simple fix; Just do what EVERY OTHER company does and do a software update for the current mac OS.. detailedReviews 92: content: I was given these as a gift and looking forward to finally not having to worry about wires hanging down when listening to music.
Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out. After 1 week, I would leave the earbuds charging in its case, and after leaving them charging for 2 straight days, I go to put them in and the left earbud says critical battery and the right earbud says 10%.
I understand when it comes to wireless, battery life isn't the greatest, especially when devices are drawing a lot of power for the convenience of wireless, but to leave them charging for a couple of days and not have them barely charged at all, is another thing.
The light on the little charger case is green which indicates full charge, however when turing them on and syncing them to my galaxy s6, it gives me the critical battery and 10% warning.
I love Samsung and pretty much all my electronics are Samsung, but these were REALLY dissapointing.
Maybe I have a faulty pair? Could be, but I would not recommend these to anyone.

detailedReviews 93: content: I'm a bit disappointed with these truly wireless earbuds.

I used my bottle of water as a cooler device by keeping it on the earbud playing the message. I try again this monring when the temperature outside wasnt too hot but I got the same issue. It's not easy to use the "tapping" when running and then the things are sketchy during other workouts because of head movements.

detailedReviews 99: content: I waited a couple of months before I did the review to these earbuds.
