detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: I purchased the MacBook Air M4 a few weeks ago and in short this is quite a powerful machine for its price. As a student and a programmer I needed something light, strong and a machine with great battery life to handle my day to day tasks. The MacBook Air M4 checked all the boxes for me and had a great price tag for such a new Apple product. Below I will give the Good and the "Meh" of this machine.
The Good
Battery Life: The new MacBook Air M4 offers outstanding battery life, making it perfect for students and programmers who need all-day performance without being tethered to a charger. Whether you're coding for hours, attending virtual classes, or juggling assignments, its efficient M4 chip keeps everything running smoothly with incredible endurance.
Base Model with 16gb of RAM: This ample RAM is particularly beneficial for students and programmers, allowing for seamless operation of multiple applications, such as code editors, compilers, and virtual machines, without slowdowns. The combination of the M4 chip and increased memory ensures a smooth and efficient workflow, making it an ideal choice for handling complex programming tasks and academic projects.
M4 chip & Bench Marks: The base model MacBook Air with the M4 chip delivers a major performance boost, perfect for students and programmers. Built on a 3nm process, it features a fast 10-core CPU and scores around 3,760 (single-core) and 14,700 (multi-core) in Geekbench 6—up to 20–30% faster than the M3. It also includes a powerful Neural Engine for AI tasks and runs cool and silent thanks to its fanless design, making it ideal for everyday coding, multitasking, and schoolwork.
The "Meh"
60hz Display: The M4 MacBook Air's display is solid but unremarkable. It features a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina panel with a 2560×1664 resolution, 500 nits brightness, and P3 wide color gamut. While these specs are adequate for everyday tasks, the 60Hz refresh rate feels dated in 2025, especially when many competitors offer smoother 120Hz displays. Additionally, the screen's glossy finish can lead to noticeable reflections in bright environments, and its contrast ratio is lower compared to OLED or Mini LED panels, making blacks appear more grayish in dim settings. For students and programmers, the display is functional, but those seeking a more vibrant and fluid visual experience might find it lacking.
Base Storage for price: The base MacBook Air M4 comes with just 256GB of storage, which feels tight for its price—especially for students and programmers. macOS and system files take up around 30–40GB right out of the box, leaving roughly 210GB usable. With large development tools and media files, that space can disappear fast, making an upgrade or external drive almost essential.
In Summary: All in all, the MacBook Air M4 is a powerful, efficient, and student-friendly machine that hits the sweet spot for everyday use and programming. While the display and base storage leave a bit to be desired, the exceptional battery life, 16GB of RAM, and impressive M4 performance more than make up for it. If you're looking for a lightweight, reliable laptop that can handle demanding tasks without draining your energy—or your wallet—it’s a solid choice worth considering.

detailedReviews 2: content: A great laptop with exceptional battery life, perfect for school, work and productivity. When paired with Apple ecosystem it seamlessly enters your daily life.
Lightweight and really easy to carry around all day at work or campus, at a desk or on the bed. The MacBook Air does everything with ease, no fan noise and a long lasting battery.
The base Air model with 16GB of RAM is enough for everything you'd need, upgrade to a 24GB of RAM will get you slightly more cores for performances, but for most people 16GB is enough. Screen is 60Hz and less bright compared to the Pro, so more glares outdoors, but in moderate sunlight it's not a big issue.
I debated getting the Air vs the Pro, and for me having 0.7 extra pounds to be carrying around everywhere doesn't bring freedom of choosing your workspace, which is important for me. I suggest picking up a Air vs Pro at a store, to see if you can imagine yourself using it everywhere, everyday.
My daily usage includes research on chromes(20+ tabs), google meetings and working on coding IDEs, remote desktop and watching videos/movies. No complaints for multitasking purposes. Although if you are doing heavier workloads like 4k editing or software engineering, consider the MacBook Pro because thermal throttling WILL slow down your work.
I also do some light gaming on the MacBook Air as well. For cloud gaming the wifi on these laptop will give you stable enough connection to play cloud. Natively the Air will almost heats up for every newer games out there like Cyberpunk 2077, but you won't be getting a MacBook for gaming purposes.
TL;DR: If you need a productivity laptop with the best battery life(and trackpad) with no fan noise, for school, work and daily use, get the Air. 24GB for those who knows what they need it for, 16GB for the average user.

detailedReviews 3: content: After purchasing the MacBook Air 13 Inch, I can confidently say it’s a game-changer for anyone who values performance, portability, and pure elegance in a laptop.
Sleek Yet Sturdy Design
The first thing that struck me is its lightweight, ultra-thin build—I can carry it everywhere without feeling weighed down. The aluminum body feels premium and robust, making it both stylish and durable.
Powerful Performance
Powered by Apple’s cutting-edge silicon, the MacBook Air delivers zippy performance for everything—from multitasking and video calls to editing high-res photos and streaming 4K content. Apps open almost instantly, and the battery lasts all day (easily 15+ hours on a single charge!). so I don’t have to hunt for an outlet.
Gorgeous Display and Quiet Operation
The Retina display is stunning, with vibrant colors and crisp details that make movies, web browsing, and work a pleasure. Thanks to its fanless design, the MacBook Air stays whisper-quiet, even during resource-heavy tasks.
Intuitive macOS Experience
Setting up was a breeze, and I love how Apple’s macOS works seamlessly with my other devices. Handoff, AirDrop, and iCloud make switching between my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook effortless. The Magic Keyboard is a dream to type on, and the large trackpad is silky-smooth and precise.

detailedReviews 4: content: I was fortunate to get this at the sale price of $849. This was so compelling I bought one, and decided to get 2nd one for myself. This was with 256 gig option 14 inch. Purchased in both the new blue grey, and midnight color. I am currently using these to dabble in AI video editing, gaming on Xbox Cloud, general use. The battery truly is over 18hrs. I am what you call power user using every aspect of the machine streaming music , surfing , writing etc. Even when I was gaming on Xbox cloud gaming and was gaming for long night as was competing Doom Dark Ages still had 20% battery after gaming all night. I normally have used Windows machines, but had MacBook air of the past. This M4 was able to edit videos in speedy way using Veo 3 Google Tools. Overall , I really care about nice bright screen, clear audio, battery life, and never to stutter on video, or opening multiple windows etc. When I gave this laptop as gift it was to replace a MacBook air from like before pandemic. It is about 30% faster than the prior processors. This Mac is for every person that wants a very nice laptop for under $1000. It does come with excellent tools from writing,to video editing . Nice, bonus subscription trials came with mine such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, Games Etc. Finding a nice capable laptop under $1000 that can hold it's on , is rare. Though I'm not using this was it was possible to run newest Windows inside this through emulation. However , I have decided to keep this MacOs. Only bummer is that games like Mortal Kombat One on Steam do not support MacOs by default. Something to hope to see more developers support MacOs especially M1 on. It will come with charger though I did upgrade to faster charger. Overall, this is great laptop for many and did see options for iPhone and iPad integration mirroring etc. You do have option to upgrade storage ,size etc. For me though I care about portability so that's why stuck with 14 inch. Storage was 256 is aok for normal usage. However, if you are downloading big videogames they will take up lots of space. Most people do use some sort of cloud ie iCloud. However you could buy external drives for storage. I think this a great laptop that could buy for any friend or family member and they will love it, for what it is able to do.

title: Great value for a capable laptop under $1000
detailedReviews 5: content: I have owned Apple computers and devices for years, so I can compare this laptop's performance against past MacBook Air generations. The processor in this computer is lightyears better than the old Intel in my 2020 MaBook Air. Internet surfing is very fast. My Internet browsers can handle having many tabs running without any issues. iMovie also works without making this computer struggle. (I often create and edit videos using iMovie. My previous MacBook Air would struggle to run iMovie. This new laptop has no issues running the software.)
Another aspect of this new laptop I am very please with is the process for transferring my files and apps from my old computer to this new one. In past generations of the MacBook Air, I would run into problems transferring everything over. I always backup my most important files, so I was prepared for complications, but this time everything transferred over to my new computer with minimal fuss. The transfer works through Wifi. I only needed my computer password and my Apple ID and password. The transferring process took no more than an hour.
The laptop itself is beautiful. Just like my previous laptop, the keyboard feels good and durable. I am very pleased with the return of the magnetized power cord. I missed this feature in the last generation of the MacBook--the magnet connection helps eliminate the struggle of finding the correct port to plug in the cord.
Overall, this laptop keeps all the positive features of past Apple computers and includes improvements that might seem small but make a real difference. I look forward to years of good service from this machine!

title: Significant improvement over older MacBook Airs
detailedReviews 6: content: Had a MacBook early 2015 before upgrading to the M4. I had to get a new laptop because my screen cracked and it wasn’t worth the price to fix, so I was very hesitant about which model to buy. After a lot of research, m4 seemed like the most economical choice and best investment. I still had my doubts about whether it was worth the price tag, especially since my early 2015 air was working just fine before the crack. However, there definitely is a noticeable difference in the overall function of the computer. (For reference, I upgraded to 512gb storage after having 256gb memory). This laptop runs faster & cleaner, with no issues opening multiple apps, even if one of them involves data analysis. No slowness, no lags, doesn’t heat up quickly, and battery lasts a while. Camera is crazy sharp as well, and moves with you as you move your head on FT, Zoom, teams, or other video conferencing apps. No issues with sound or mic use either on these apps so far. No regrets upgrading to the higher storage option - I desperately needed it and didn’t even know it, so I’d recommend doing that too if you keep getting that “not enough storage” message now. The only con (and annoyance) for me is that the usb ports are all usb-C, so normal flash drives and older phone chargers won’t plug in without an adaptor. I also think it should be cheaper, but that’s my issue with Apple in general lol and I’m hoping it lasts long.

detailedReviews 7: content: I Managed to get this for just under £1100 saving £300.
Phenomenal laptop with much more power than I need. I went for this spec for future proofing. This is my first Apple laptop and without a doubt the best laptop I've ever owned. I've been in the apple ecosystem for several years but never considered the MacBook Air until the JL discount. I couldn't believe the price reduction for a computer that had only been out for just over a month.
This has now replaced my two 1st Gen silicone Mac Minis and IPad Pro.
The screen size is just right. A little heavier than I expected but a lot lighter than the MacBook Pro. The speakers are a bit tinny but still decent. The camera is a big improvement on previous models but I tend to use the continuity camera 4K video calls feature of the recent operating systems. Battery life is excellent and lasts me several days with one charge.
It turns on instantly like an iPad and I don't miss the touch screen.
There are loads of tutorials on YouTube to get the best out of the MacBook Air.
It will need a dongle as it only has two thunderbolt ports but this will allow you connect it up to two separate monitors, if required, SD cards and other peripherals.
This also comes with a two year JL warranty unlike Apple.
No buyers remorse. If you're looking for a does it all laptop then the base model or this is definitely worth considering.

detailedReviews 8: content: I've never thought I was ever going to get a MacBook as I was always a Windows User. However, since I've been working IT Support for Harvard University, many of my end users are on MacBooks, and after working on them and setting up dozens, I really enjoyed the macOS.
So, it was time for me to get myself one and I wasn't disappointed at all. The M4 chip is amazing. Since it has more power than the M3 chip, it can thermal throttle easier, but this won't be an issue for the average user. Upon setup, I made sure my macOS was updated to the latest macOS Sequoira 15.3.2 and double-checked the battery cycle which was 2. This is normal because factory testing is needed for quality purposes, so do not be alarmed.
I already use about 16-17GBs of RAM daily so the 24GBs of RAM is a must-have for my use (ServiceNow, Outlook, multiple different IT tabs, Garageband, etc). I appreciate that with the M4 MacBook Air, you can extend to two monitors NOW with the internal display open versus the M3 MacBook Air where you need the internal display closed. Sadly, I did chip the corner of my paint because a water bottle knocked it a bit.
I bought my MacBook Air for about $1,200 versus the original $1,399 because I had plenty of reward points earned using my MyBestBuy Via Credit card and with my plus membership, it gave me another $50 off which was sweet. I also financed it interest-free for the next two years.

detailedReviews 9: content: The new m4 MacBook Air is truly a powerhouse, just about anything you throw at it, it’ll handle with ease. Perfect for photo editing, and with the 24GB’s in RAM it’ll handle an immense amount of multi-tasking. For such a thin computer, and this thing is thin (wow), it never over heats, is never loud, and is as portable as your personal mobile device. The only drawback is the lack of available ports, but I suppose that’s the sacrifice you make for the compact and discreet design. I mean when you think about it your iPhone or your IPad has only one, the natural step-up for this form factor would be to have 2, and of course slightly more for a pro model. The MagSafe charger is a wonder, and I’m beginning to wonder why other computer manufacturers haven’t begun to adopt similar designs. For heavy AI workloads or for complex video editing consider a MacBook Pro model as the GPU on the air only runs 10cores, and the m4 pro runs 16-20, (even more for M4 max). As always though Apple maintains its place as the number one producer of not only the most powerful tech but also the most consumer friendly and usable products. This is a must have, and if you’ve been on the fence for awhile about making the switch from Windows to Mac OS this is the time to do so with this product as your entry point.

detailedReviews 10: content: My review is five stars however that’s for Best Buy’s excellent customer service regarding this purchase I bought the 13 inch MacBook Air and took it home and quickly realized it was a little bit too tiny for me. I’m coming off at 15 inch MacBook Pro. After trying it out for a couple days I called Best Buy and asked if I could exchange my MacBook Air from a 13 inch to 15 inch MacBook Air. They allow me to return the computer. They did not charge me a restocking fee. And they swap my AppleCare from the 13 inch model to the 15 inch model without a glitch. It was an excellent experience and I think Best Buy for its customer service policies. You guys were great so that’s my review on the 13th MacBook Air I think it’s a nice computer but it’s a bit small the screen I think compare compared to the 15 inch model which is superior by far. I have that 24 GB RAM and 512 SSD. 13 inch models are great however, when you have a 15 inch model in front of you it just makes everything look better. The screen resolution is much better than the 13 inch model and I’m very happy with my purchase in the return and exchange thank you very much for selling me your computer. I got a great deal from you guys even better than Amazon prime day you guys have the best price so thank you. Will buy another Mac from you guys again I promise anyway that’s my review. I’m not sure if you guys wanna post it or not but thanks for everything. Five stars

detailedReviews 11: content: Upgrading from the M1 MacBook Air (2020) to the new M4 MacBook Air feels like moving from a trusty sedan to a sleek, high-performance sports car. The design remains slim and lightweight, but everything else has been refined. The midnight finish looks stunning in person—deep, premium, and resistant to fingerprints compared to earlier colors.
The M4 chip runs faster and cooler than my M1, handling multitasking, large files, and even light video editing with ease. Apps launch instantly, and workflows that occasionally bogged down my M1 now feel seamless. The extra RAM (16GB) also makes a noticeable difference in keeping multiple apps open without slowdowns.
If you’re coming from the 2020 M1 Air, this isn’t just a mild refresh—it’s a significant step up in speed, future-proofing, and overall user experience. Apple has managed to keep the portability and quiet operation that made the Air so popular while pushing its capabilities into pro-level territory.
Overall, it's a great product!

detailedReviews 12: content: I love it. Plain and simple. As you'd expect from Apple, the keyboard, touchpad, screen, build quality, and user experience set the standard to measure everything else against. I was curious how this would perform for me, being an Air with no fans (one of the reasons I love it, it is SILENT), but it handles everything from email, web browsing, and Office to running multiple VMs and development tasks with ease. For most of my uses, it barely even gets warm, and the battery life is incredible. I've used both PC (Windows and Linux) and Mac alongside each other for decades, and the M4 MacBook Air has replaced my brownout-inducing gaming laptop for all but, well, gaming (of course). And it does it all silently and effortlessly. If you're a multi-tasker and/or have a lot of data, definitely recommend stepping up to at least the 24GB/512GB model. Speakers and the new webcam are really impressive, too. Oh, and the midnight finish looks really nice, for me doesn't really attract more fingerprints than most other black/metal laptops (go for the classic silver if it might bother you), just make sure you take care of it and clean it regularly, lol.

detailedReviews 13: content: I’ve had my new MacBook Air for about a week now, and honestly I love it. From the moment I opened the box, everything just felt premium. Performance-wise, it’s insanely fast. I’m usually running a bunch of tabs, messaging apps, and some light editing, and it handles all of it without breaking a sweat. It’s also completely silent, which still surprises me sometimes. Another thing that really impressed me is the battery life. I’m getting through almost two full days without having to charge it. The speakers actually sound way better than I expected for a laptop this thin, and the screen is really sharp. I was honestly surprised when I found out that it didn’t have a touchscreen, but after doing some research, I realized it makes a lot of sense. Adding touch would probably take away from how compact and thin the laptop is - that’s something I really care about since I take it with me whenever I’m traveling. Honestly, this was a big purchase for me; I was a little nervous at first but it ended up being 100% worth it. I really like this.

detailedReviews 14: content: It took me ~4 weeks to get the it working well to my comfortable satisfaction. For the installation process, I copied an older Mac's files and have not gone through those yet to see what I need. I learned more about the iCloud and am now using that for backup though I don't understand how to get more files in the iCloud yet. I had to start to recover some of what was lost in the previous Mac which was only 4 years old. I am not finished with this process just yet. This wreckage of my Mac prompted me to backup two older laptops that had important information on to portable hard drives. I still have a lot of questions which I will be getting back to once I start to incorporate my previous usual routine of working on the computer daily. I even had a much older laptop looked at to see if some data was able to be backed up, but the answer is no, so that is being recycled. This entire month has opened my eyes to the importance of backing up files, using the iCloud, and learning more about the Mac/Apple computer which I need to continue to do. There are some things I have ignored over the years, and it is time to learn and understand more about the computer and Apple. I also learned more about what Best Buy offers in terms of Geek Squad service.

detailedReviews 15: content: I was considering getting either the Surface or the ProArt, but ultimately, choosing the MacBook Air turned out to be a great decision for me. If the MacBook Air had come with 8GB of RAM minimum and needed to be upgraded, there’s a good chance I would’ve gone with ProArt instead which has more RAM and Storage.
I’ve been using the MacBook Air for about a month now and have had no issues. The battery life is excellent, and it’s incredibly lightweight—perfect for me since I travel frequently for work. It really helps reduce the weight and clutter in my bag.
The only downside I’ve encountered is that some Windows-specific applications I previously used aren’t compatible with macOS. However, I’m working on finding suitable alternatives, so it's not a major problem.
As for storage, I initially considered the 512GB model, but since I store most of my files in the cloud, the base storage has been more than sufficient.
Overall, this laptop has been a perfect match for both my work and everyday use.

detailedReviews 17: content: I have owned several MacBooks over the years and this is the best yet. I am a photographer and use the computer primarily to process raw images. When traveling the 13 MacBook fits neatly in my camera bag. For use in the studio I have an external monitor and printer. The M4 processor with 32MB of RAM renders 45MP images very quickly. I mainly use DXO and NIK software. These do not make as much use of AI as other packages but this suits my needs very well and the M4 processor is excellent.
There are some compromises with this small a computer. The number of ports is limited and there is no dedicated monitor connection. I carry a hub to overcome this but it is one more thing to pack. I also prefer an external mouse to the trackpad. Neither of these are deal breakers and I knew of these limitations when I bought the computer.
I highly recommend the MacBook Air for anyone needing both a portable and a studio machine with the power to handle high resolution raw images.

When it came time to purchase a new laptop, I finally decided to step out of my comfort zone and get my first ever iOS computer. Enter the new MacBook Air M4.
This machine is epic. It’s fast, well built, and a great addition to someone who already has several Apple products. Already owning AirPod Pros, iPhone, Apple 4K TV, and a HomePod, this machine is a beautiful final addition to my Apple ecosystem. Everything works together. I easily login to websites and never have to remember passwords. Whatever I do on my phone is readily available on my MacBook, and vise versa.

detailedReviews 19: content: Premium build quality meets sleek design. The battery life is very good could be a smidge better but given how lightweight and powerful this machine is, its a nitpick more than anything. The speakers on this laptop are incredible and the microphone quality is also superb. The webcam quality is also fantastic. I don't care much for the "stage centering" feature it strikes me more of a gimmick than anything. Keyboard is fine but again no laptop keyboards are good in my eyes. The laptop feels very well made and doesn't bend if you press down on it with a modicum of force. The big glaring negative is the display and its not brightness or something its simply because its 60hz instead of 90 or 120hz. Seriously Apple? 60hz display in 2025? Other than that this is a great work or personal laptop. As long as you don't do heavy video editing or something this machine is perfectly fine for the majority of users.

detailedReviews 21: content: Definitely an upgrade from my 2013 MacBook Air!
Went in to get some diagnostics run by the Geek Squad, and was informed that it was considered “vintage” and thus was ineligible for repair. I knew it was on its last leg for a while before it stopped working, but was very nervous to shell out for a brand new one. Man, was it worth it!
Mostly using it for audio production in GarageBand. I know it’s not the fanciest DAW, but it gets the job done and I enjoy the user friendly and intuitive free software.
Super impressed by the speed and very much hoping that, like my last Mac, I get another solid decade out of this laptop!
All the staff was super helpful and informative, too. They were able to set up a reasonable payment plan, and hook me up with a year of repairs and maintenance through Geek Squad and AppleCare, too! Overall, a great purchase and experience for me when I was deeply dreading the day I would need to replace my old baby.

detailedReviews 22: content: I have been deferring ‘retiring’ my 2017 Apple Mac Air and IPad for a while. Both are still functioning although they are grindingly slow at getting fired up. A bit like their owner! I had done my homework, even contemplating buying both new devices from an Apple shop in China. But Apple has a monopoly on worldwide price control it seems. No bargains there.
The Harvey Norman EOFY sale was too good to miss, and I bought two replacement devices in the same week. Delivery was by Australia Post. I had no need to visit a store in person. The ease of ordering online was very good and delivery occurred within 48hrs. I set up my new Apple Mac Air in a virgin state ie not copying files across from the old Mac as everything I wish to retain is stored in the cloud. The new IPad set up was even easier as I just copied the apps and file structure from the 2017 model as a mirror image.
I have not had to visit a Harvey Norman store at all. The one minor technical glitch involving 5 Apple devices syncing with each other (3 old and 2 new) was resolved by the helpful Apple staff in the city.
Overall a very positive buying experience.

detailedReviews 23: content: I am a photographer who uses lightroom and photoshop. I occassionally use AfterEffects and Premiere Pro. Through all of my experiences, this computer has done a great job at keeping itself cool during all parts of my workflow. So far, the hottest that it has ever gotten, was when I was rendering a video, which was when it got a little warm. Nothing significant. I can see this lasting many years to come.
I am a first time Mac user and need to address that the MacOS is a little bit confusing at first, with lots of hidden gestures. There are a lot of features that are annoying, but it is nothing you cannot customize after some youtube viedos.
Also, for the sale price that this was listed for, the specs are absolutely incredibly.
Great experience all around, knowing what I know now, my choice in purchasing this computer would not change

detailedReviews 24: content: I have a total of 6 laptops (all 2024 or newer) and all of them are great at certain things and not so great at other things. This is where the MacBook Air M4 differs , it literally hits all the wants/needs: good screen, good sound, good performance, great battery life.
The laptop is premium looking and feeling and is as light as air. The hinges are excellent with no screen wobble and the trackpad is the best in the business. You can walk around using it in one hand without any issues.
The only thing that could be better is a brighter screen, if they made it 600 nits this would absolutely be perfection.
Now Mac does not run all of the variety of programs and games than you can run on windows that is true but if most of your work is web based (like most now a days) and your not heavy into gaming this is the laptop for most ppl.
I would recommend paying a little more and getting the 24GB variant as 16 does tend to get stuck/studdar from time to time.

detailedReviews 25: content: Daughter needed a laptop for college and the M4 was the "Best Buy" ;D Her brother secured an M3 last yr in Midnight. Screen is 13" which is the same size as the chromebook kids use in HS. Daughter selected Starlight and loves the color so much she selected a clear case to cover it. Bought matching keyboard cover in Starlight. Easy for iPhone users to get accustomed to and very light to carry. Slim and compact. Even fits in a medium sized purse! Carries it in a medium sized messenger bag. Comes with power brick and USBC cord (both ends). Camera has a privacy slide. Uses it for school, watching movies, syncing with her iPhone, talking and msging her friends. Got her a Magic Mouse but she hasn't used that yet as she prefers the track pad (go figure). Speed is very good so long as the wifi is good. Cons: Only has a usbc port so need an adapter to use HDMI or USB; not a touch screen; no disc drive.

detailedReviews 26: content: Great for traveling. As a photographer, going on 2 or 3 extended photo trips a year, I like to copy my images from the camera card onto a computer drive and then begin editing in Adobe Lightroom at the end of each shooting day. This MacBook Air is way more than adequate to the task. The M4 processor and the 16gb of RAM make the work go smoothly and quickly. Listening to music while I work, I am astounded at quality of the sound coming from the computer speakers. The rich, full sound belies their small size. The screen resolution is fantastic and the color rendition of my images lets me see details and gives me confidence to do the bulk of image and video editing on the road, as it were. Final Cut Pro runs smoothly on this for video editing. And, the price, at less than $900, makes it a great value.
Thus, it is small, powerful and speedy, while looking and sounding good at a great price.

Having other Apple products it makes overall connectivity really easy. Iam able to wireless connect my iPad Pro making a second screen, both of which are 13”, so that is super useful, and because everything has a small overall footprint it is easy to put away and store without having to have a huge set up.
The Apple intelligence is super helpful as well in streamlining smaller tasks leaving more time to focused on bigger projects.
The looks of this MacBook Air is closer to the looks of the MacBook pro’s which I like a lot. Wasn't a fan of the thin tapered body of previous MacBook Air models.
So far this has been a great buy for my returning to college and Dailey use. Looking forward to using it for some time to come.

The internals on the newest Mac Air are brilliant having had a mid range dell previous to this doesn't even come close the m4s 10 core 10 core setup is perfect for work and gaming although not all games are supported by the Mac os on steam. 16gb as standard is great as well for CAD especially runs a smoother and more stable level whilst rendering high texture models.
Overall should you buy this,
Short answer yes it's a great addition to your existing apple ecosystem but if you are not already in the ecosystem I would consider your wider options aswell consider the games you want to play if any on the computer look at support.

The screen is small enough that it can fit easily in my back pack, yet large enough that I don’t feel I’m straining my eyes to see. The features is the new Macs are amazing. For example the new M4 chip allows you to have two external monitors displayed while also having the laptop itself displayed. Previous models could not do that. Also, it handles multiple tasks at once well. I often have Lightroom which is a pretty taxing task running and Spotify and other tabs open at once and it runs smooth. If you’re into more advanced activities such as video editing I would maybe look into the Pro model. But for a photo hobbyist/student this works just fine. And the color looks clean!

However, I use Adobe lightroom and the denoise function that has been implemented in the last 2 years requires a very powerful GPU. In order to get a laptop with the specs I needed it cost more than this Mac so I decided, why not. I heard good things about the M4 chip,
Overall I am very pleased with it. It is very light, fast, and solved my problem. As I was a systems administrator is my past life, adjusting to MacOS took some effort but was pretty easy for me. Not to mention the great battery life. Runs everything I need it to. The price can bite, but for me it’s justified by the compatibility with my other devices, the Intelligence program, and the care that Apple gives its customers. The midnight color, as awesome as it looks, does love fingerprints, so bear that in mind. The keyboard is basic, nothing wrong with it, but just not as comfortable for me as other laptops. detailedReviews 34: content: I've recently made the switch from a long-time PC user (30 years!) to Mac, and I am blown away! I didn't think Macs could be so advanced. At first, it took me a few days to get used to the whole Mac-way of thinking, like multi-tasking and how everything works. But after a week, I'm totally hooked!
The battery life is incredible! I didn't expect it to last for so many hours. My PC laptop's battery can only go for 2 hours max!
I find myself being much more focused when using my Mac. It's so quiet because it doesn't have a fan, which is nice. But it can be a bit of a pain if you use apps that are CPU-intensive because it can get quite hot. But I'm usually fine most of the time.
The AI tools are absolutely amazing! If you need to generate a picture or proofread what you wrote, it's so easy!
If you're already an iPhone user, you'll find it easy to switch to a Mac.
My final tip for you: think outside the PC box and dive into Mac. You won't regret it!

I've owned more than a few MacBooks over the years, the last one being the Intel-based 13" Pro with Touch Bar (yeah, I know, right—seemed like a good idea at the time). Using it on a recent trip around Europe to write content and work in visuals for a bunch off magazine articles, it kept getting really hot and battery ran really low, affecting my productivity and throughput in a huge way. I'm happy to report that this machine more than holds its own. Daily usage is quick and snappy. It's also proven very capable of running Lightroom Classic while connected to a NAS for photo master storage. I have found performance far better than a similarly spec'd ASUS laptop. In addition to being a capable workstation, the laptop is one of the lightest I've ever used. I look forward to using it while traveling. My only minor complaint is with the quality of the on-board speakers — they are not as rich or full as the MacBook Pro that I use for work, but I plan to use headphones when I need higher fidelity audio.

The build quality of this machine is also superb, it's very light and well built, and Apple recently fixed their Butterfly Keyboard problem so I don't see why this machine can't last you at least 5 years.
The only con about this laptop is the ports, which is fine for me because you can buy dongles for <$20 and have access to a ton of ports. Thermal throttling is another issue, but unless your doing some serious editing, or Software Engineering tasks, you likely won't ever throttle.
Overall this is the perfect laptop for 99% of people, for those who want to do more intensive things like Machine Learning or intense Software Engineering, I would suggest you get the MacBook Pro.

I also bought an external 2T SSD for $150. I have had the laptop for 3 weeks and use it for all the normal things like email, browsing the web plus making content for my YouTube channel. It seams to be faster than my PC for video editing. I do try to delete unused programs and files on the 250 GB internal hard drive to keep at least 100MB free. By doing this I hope I can edit multiple large 4K videos. So far so good. I wonder if I should have spent another $500 to $700 and bought the Pro. I love the small size and quietness of the M4 Air. I also liked that Best Buy allowed me to trade in my old MacBook Air and use it towards the purchase. Also liked that Best Buy offered a payment plan so I could spread out the cost over a year with my Best Buy credit card. Plus I could pick it up within hours.
I now own a MacBook Air that is more future proof and a bit faster. The M4 chip is fast and probably more powerful than I need for my simple tasks, but I like the fact that it does have more power if I do some photo editing. After going through some the PCs and looking @ the MacBook as far as bang for your buck it was there and needless to say I brought her MacBook that she will have for @ least the next 3 to 4 years. In day‑to‑day workflows (web research, writing, and Python scripting), the M4 chip breezes through tasks that used to make my old machine stutter. The fanless design is super nice and convenient with silent operation, and even under sustained load—compiling code—I’ve never heard a whirr just a slight warmth and that's it. Battery life routinely sails past 12 hours, so I finish my workday without hunting for an outlet. The Sky Blue finish amazing, and the roomy 24 GB of RAM lets me juggle multiple tabs, Zoom, and compiling a code without swapping to disk. It balances speed, GPU, processor power and screen clarity with exceptional build-quality and aesthetic appeal at a price less than last year's M3 model. A very worthwhile upgrade for the vast majority of users (particularly those still on Intel-based Macs, who will notice a huge difference in speed). The only limitations for some might be the number of ports (MagSafe and two USB C only) and the 60hz screen refresh rate, coupled with the inability to upgrade storage and RAM after purchase. You don't think about the speed, (it's just fast to the point of not noticing it, never lags on anything), you don't think about the build quality (it just feels like a solid piece of aluminum), and you don't think about the OS integration (everything just works out of the box if you are even remotely in the Apple universe of products).
I'm not pushing this machine to do anything in particular (no video editing, normal photo editing, media consumption, etc.) and it just doesn't get in the way. The new M4 chip handles multitasking smoothly, and the 16GB memory ensures seamless performance. The Midnight color looks sleek and premium. Battery life is outstanding, lasting all day. Perfect for work, study, or creative tasks. Highly recommended!

detailedReviews 50: content: As a long-time Mac user, I wasn’t expecting to be that impressed with an upgrade - I already loved the Apple ecosystem. But this new Mac has blown me away. It’s faster, quieter, and somehow even sleeker than my last one. The display is razor-sharp, battery life feels never-ending, and it handles everything I throw at it - work, creative projects, endless tabs - without breaking a sweat.
Apple has a way of making you feel like your tech just gets you, and this Mac is no exception. It’s familiar, but better. Like if your favourite jeans suddenly made your legs look longer and never sagged.

detailedReviews 51: content: My PC is over 12 years old and uses Windows 10 which is not going to be supported from October 2025, so rather than learn Windows 11 I decided to push the boat out and buy a new MacBook Air and learn MacOS instead. I have an iPhone and iPad so I thought it wouldn't be too difficult.
So far, it has been quite easy and logical. I do a couple of hours each day and am building up my knowledge.
The keyboard is lovely (I'm a trained touch typist) and I chose the new Light Blue shade.
I probably won't use all the features and there are some things missing eg a disc drive but I'm finding ways around that. I like that it is so light and thin, easily portable.
On the whole I am very pleased with my new laptop and delivery was very prompt.

detailedReviews 52: content: I was hesitant at first to make this purchase, but have found that the Macbook Air 13 inch has met every need. I used to carry around a bulky laptop, so the form factor of this device in my backpack makes me almost forget it is in there! The screen is very clear and high quality, and the speakers surprisingly blew me away. I think the 24GB may be overkill, as I've never even gotten close to my 16gb even with lowerend games, music, videos and several writing applications going at once. This little guy is my forever creative best friend. Also, the battery life when not playing games and just browsing, watching videos or listening to music has been superb.

detailedReviews 53: content: This was the first Mac that I bought since 2016 and it is probably my favorite model. The MacBook Air with M4 chip runs like a MacBook Pro. I haven’t had any problems with it. It’s thin but doesn’t feel cheap. There are a magnet for fingerprints so be ready to put a cover over it, clean it, or just not care. I personally clean it every so often. Mac products are probably my favorite for work and such. I use it for photography with Adobe and I haven’t had any issues with it. I also use it to compose music with Sibelius and I have a bunch of files but still a fair amount of room.

detailedReviews 54: content: No surprise here. The machine is great, and I'm grudgingly getting used to the new OS. Apple has made the OS a bit user-unfriendly by introducing so many different non-transparent ways to control system/Finder behavior—some of which you'd (I'd) really like to turn off, but can't, even after help from Apple tech support. That aspect is a triumph of OS engineering over common sense. Doesn't Apple do focus groups, or is it just my preferences getting in the way?
Anyway, I'm happy to have a Mac that can stay current for a while, because Apple sure doesn't care about forcing customers to upgrade.

It’s fast, the IS will run everything from Microsoft Office to Linux apps. It will even run you iOS apps from your iPhone or iPad. The graphs are just amazing and,!if you use it, the built in security means you don’t have to worry about hackers, malware, or phishing scams. The batter lasts for two days, minimum and it’s faster than any game machine on the market. This is very nearly the perfect computer.

I got this thinking i would hand it over to another family member if I did not like it and I have been massively surprised. The battery life is insane; I can easily get 4-6 days of work done on the laptop before looking for a charger. The speed of the Apple M4 is just outstanding. Everything opens up quick and using LLMs or encoding videos runs smoothly and lightning fast. If you're in this price bracket and want a laptop for general work that can do more if you ever need to, this is the gateway.

While there is a price premium vs. Windows computers, I find that washes out given the longer usable life of MacBooks. My previous MacBook was six years old and still performing reasonably well. I've never been able to make a Windows computer last that long, even with upgrades.
Also, the battery life is phenomenal - the battery monitor reads 20+ hours when fully charged. I only charge it every 2-3 days.

While the Pro still works, I was running into a few issues with software compatibility, so I figured it would be a good time to upgrade. I was going to move into a Mac Min, but the Air was just as capable and allows me to be more mobile with my work-from-home setup. I am about a month in, and this machine rocks! It has been a breeze to use, and even with the lower spec'd chip, the system is still very snappy and powerful. It runs all of my apps with ease. Not to mention how much quieter and cooler it makes my office. So if you are still on an intel based Mac, this is well worth the upgrade.

However, the experience I've had at a local BB (South Setauket, NY) was horrible, making it the WORST purchase I've made this year. I am impressed with the build quality and ease of use. I still have a lot of work to do to learn the optimal ways to get around the OS but so far it's working great and I would recommend it.

detailedReviews 86: content: Picked up a MacBook Air from Best Buy Northgate today, and honestly, the whole experience was smooth. Staff was helpful but not pushy, which I appreciated. They answered a few questions I had about storage and setup without trying to upsell me on extras I didn’t need. The MacBook itself? Fast, light, and super sleek—perfect for everyday work and travel. It was in stock and ready for pickup the same day, which made things even easier. Overall, solid product, easy purchase, no complaints.

detailedReviews 87: content: This is my first MacBook since the first Macintosh and I am very pleased with it. It is replacing a Chromebook Pixel go and so far I have no complaints. It doesn't have a touch screen but I personally don't use it so it is not an issue. It is extremely fast with a very long lasting battery. The screen is excellent with a very good resolution. The backlit keyboard is also very good and comfortable. It charges very quickly and it is reliable, beautiful and efficient.

detailedReviews 88: content: its a bit early to review really. I only got the kit set up recently and have experienced all sorts of problems as I move from a many years m/s laptop user to Apple. I moved to the MBA after enjoying using Apple ipad and iphone happily for years and years. A friend said there were continuity benefots from moving across to Apple for my laptop. I love the feel, style, quality, lightness etc etc of the Apple unit BUT so far it has been a bit of a nightmare switching across; everything works differently and I am still soldiering through.

detailedReviews 89: content: Great Laptop Size and priced best I have seen and been watching. I also have M2 15 inch and they each have benefits size wise witb the M4 a bit faster than the M2. Boyh beautiful Laptops. Best Buy had at the curb within an hour, adding in 2-3 month bonus’ Apple TV , Apple Music, etc. I have purchased 8-9 Apple Products at Best Buy over the years, as convenience, lowest price, repairs through Geek Squad, compared to Apple Store, Best Buy offers the better all round experience. Get same product, less lines and customer service to an individual, This M4 is a delight and ideal for any purpose.

detailedReviews 90: content: I was super nervous about buying this device. It took me several months to actually go through with it. So far, I absolutely love it. I’ve been an iPhone user for so long and still needed a little assistance with the MacBook. I love that it has tutorials to show you how to get the best out of the laptop. The battery hold a charge for DAYS!!!!! Most so quickly and is super easy to connect to networks. I am super happy with my purchase. If Apple makes a touchscreen one it would be a 20/10 but they did good so, 10/10.

detailedReviews 91: content: I love my new computer. The last one I had was a 2017 macbook air. It's now 2025. Needless to say it was a snail. I looked at these for the longest, not sure if I should go new or refurbished or open box. I chose open box "good". But honestly it was "excellent". I didn't see a scratch on it and saved myself $100.
Performance for what I do is perfect. It's super fast, can handle the things I need it for, battery is awesome, all that. I'm super satisfied with my purchase.

detailedReviews 92: content: Most excellent product. A little overpriced for my liking but would rather return to a brick and mortar store as opposed to Amazon if need be. Not much to dislike about the device.
My wife never wanted to switch from Microsoft to Apple and now she says for talking me into changing. Super durable and the magnet power cord is worth the price of admission by itself. Graphics great, response great, security great. Please start making them here in the U.S.A.

detailedReviews 94: content: This M4 MacBook Air is honestly one of the best laptops I’ve used. It’s incredibly fast, stays cool, and the battery life is insane. Super lightweight and easy to carry around, but still feels premium and solid. Great for everyday use like browsing, streaming, work, and even light creative stuff. The screen is sharp, the speakers sound surprisingly good, and everything just runs smooth. If you want a reliable laptop that just works and feels modern, this it.

title: One of the best laptops I’ve used
detailedReviews 95: content: I was never a fan of MacBooks until the M1 processor came along. Its performance and battery life were so superior to anything else on the market that I switched from being a long-time Windows laptop user. The MacBook Air 13 with the M4 chip builds on this excellence, with 16GB of RAM as standard being one of the most significant (and necessary) upgrades over the previous 8GB.
This handles anything thrown at it when used as a day to day device, and the battery lasts all day.
The lower price compared to last year also makes this a strong value purchase.

detailedReviews 96: content: Best portable laptop on the market. BestBuy also did price match with Microcenter for me, 3 weeks after purchase, which is amazing and keeps me coming back for more. BestBuy is the best place to buy electronics, dedicated customer with a bestbuy credit card. :)
I use a MBP 16" as a daily laptop at work and I wanted a lighter one for coffee shops and personal work. MBA 13" is perfect, I don't need a faster CPU or RAM, 24GB RAM with M4 is more than what I need.

detailedReviews 97: content: The new M4 MacBook Air is a beast. I got it in the Midnight color and it looks absolutely stunning. The speed of the M4 chip is no joke – apps open instantly and multitasking is effortless, which is perfect for my busy workload.
But the best part is the battery; I can genuinely go all day without needing the charger. It's so light I forget it's in my bag. This is easily the best laptop I've ever owned and I highly recommend it!

detailedReviews 98: content: Get it. I don't know how I waited so long to cave, this is THE best laptop I've ever used (not including gaming, but that's a different beast). Seriously though, it's gorgeous, FEELS well made, have yet to find a program or job I can't complete due to being a MAC vs Windows (I'm old enough that that used to be an actual issue) I might even switch this one in and get the pro.. I use this laptop more than my iPhone as a student and just human being in general. Get. It. Right. MEOW.

detailedReviews 99: content: I have been a Mac user for over 12 years. I recently gave up my m3 Macbook Pro for this M4 Air and I have no complaints. I realized I was no longer a power user. So simple browsing and a few work emails can function. I like that I don't really need to attach my external hard drive. I do keep it in a case and I have a sticker where my palms rest to eliminate the famous rubbed out track pad. I wish there could be a built in camera privacy but I just use a sticky note and it doesn't get in the way of closing my laptop.

detailedReviews 100: content: The MacBook Air with the M4 chip is a dream for students. It’s incredibly fast and handles everything from research and writing papers to video calls and creative projects with ease. The 24GB of memory means you can run multiple apps without slowing down, and the 512GB SSD gives you plenty of space for files and media. It’s super light, making it easy to carry between classes, and the battery easily lasts a full day on campus. The Midnight color is sleek and stylish—definitely a head-turner!
