detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: I purchased the MacBook Air M4 a few weeks ago and in short this is quite a powerful machine for its price. As a student and a programmer I needed something light, strong and a machine with great battery life to handle my day to day tasks. The MacBook Air M4 checked all the boxes for me and had a great price tag for such a new Apple product. Below I will give the Good and the "Meh" of this machine.
The Good
Battery Life: The new MacBook Air M4 offers outstanding battery life, making it perfect for students and programmers who need all-day performance without being tethered to a charger. Whether you're coding for hours, attending virtual classes, or juggling assignments, its efficient M4 chip keeps everything running smoothly with incredible endurance.
Base Model with 16gb of RAM: This ample RAM is particularly beneficial for students and programmers, allowing for seamless operation of multiple applications, such as code editors, compilers, and virtual machines, without slowdowns. The combination of the M4 chip and increased memory ensures a smooth and efficient workflow, making it an ideal choice for handling complex programming tasks and academic projects.
M4 chip & Bench Marks: The base model MacBook Air with the M4 chip delivers a major performance boost, perfect for students and programmers. Built on a 3nm process, it features a fast 10-core CPU and scores around 3,760 (single-core) and 14,700 (multi-core) in Geekbench 6—up to 20–30% faster than the M3. It also includes a powerful Neural Engine for AI tasks and runs cool and silent thanks to its fanless design, making it ideal for everyday coding, multitasking, and schoolwork.
The "Meh"
60hz Display: The M4 MacBook Air's display is solid but unremarkable. It features a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina panel with a 2560×1664 resolution, 500 nits brightness, and P3 wide color gamut. While these specs are adequate for everyday tasks, the 60Hz refresh rate feels dated in 2025, especially when many competitors offer smoother 120Hz displays. Additionally, the screen's glossy finish can lead to noticeable reflections in bright environments, and its contrast ratio is lower compared to OLED or Mini LED panels, making blacks appear more grayish in dim settings. For students and programmers, the display is functional, but those seeking a more vibrant and fluid visual experience might find it lacking.
Base Storage for price: The base MacBook Air M4 comes with just 256GB of storage, which feels tight for its price—especially for students and programmers. macOS and system files take up around 30–40GB right out of the box, leaving roughly 210GB usable. With large development tools and media files, that space can disappear fast, making an upgrade or external drive almost essential.
In Summary: All in all, the MacBook Air M4 is a powerful, efficient, and student-friendly machine that hits the sweet spot for everyday use and programming. While the display and base storage leave a bit to be desired, the exceptional battery life, 16GB of RAM, and impressive M4 performance more than make up for it. If you're looking for a lightweight, reliable laptop that can handle demanding tasks without draining your energy—or your wallet—it’s a solid choice worth considering.

detailedReviews 2: content: A great laptop with exceptional battery life, perfect for school, work and productivity. When paired with Apple ecosystem it seamlessly enters your daily life.
Lightweight and really easy to carry around all day at work or campus, at a desk or on the bed. The MacBook Air does everything with ease, no fan noise and a long lasting battery.
The base Air model with 16GB of RAM is enough for everything you'd need, upgrade to a 24GB of RAM will get you slightly more cores for performances, but for most people 16GB is enough. Screen is 60Hz and less bright compared to the Pro, so more glares outdoors, but in moderate sunlight it's not a big issue.
I debated getting the Air vs the Pro, and for me having 0.7 extra pounds to be carrying around everywhere doesn't bring freedom of choosing your workspace, which is important for me. I suggest picking up a Air vs Pro at a store, to see if you can imagine yourself using it everywhere, everyday.
My daily usage includes research on chromes(20+ tabs), google meetings and working on coding IDEs, remote desktop and watching videos/movies. No complaints for multitasking purposes. Although if you are doing heavier workloads like 4k editing or software engineering, consider the MacBook Pro because thermal throttling WILL slow down your work.
I also do some light gaming on the MacBook Air as well. For cloud gaming the wifi on these laptop will give you stable enough connection to play cloud. Natively the Air will almost heats up for every newer games out there like Cyberpunk 2077, but you won't be getting a MacBook for gaming purposes.
TL;DR: If you need a productivity laptop with the best battery life(and trackpad) with no fan noise, for school, work and daily use, get the Air. 24GB for those who knows what they need it for, 16GB for the average user.

detailedReviews 4: content: I was fortunate to get this at the sale price of $849. This was so compelling I bought one, and decided to get 2nd one for myself. This was with 256 gig option 14 inch. Purchased in both the new blue grey, and midnight color. I am currently using these to dabble in AI video editing, gaming on Xbox Cloud, general use. The battery truly is over 18hrs. I am what you call power user using every aspect of the machine streaming music , surfing , writing etc. Even when I was gaming on Xbox cloud gaming and was gaming for long night as was competing Doom Dark Ages still had 20% battery after gaming all night. I normally have used Windows machines, but had MacBook air of the past. This M4 was able to edit videos in speedy way using Veo 3 Google Tools. Overall , I really care about nice bright screen, clear audio, battery life, and never to stutter on video, or opening multiple windows etc. When I gave this laptop as gift it was to replace a MacBook air from like before pandemic. It is about 30% faster than the prior processors. This Mac is for every person that wants a very nice laptop for under $1000. It does come with excellent tools from writing,to video editing . Nice, bonus subscription trials came with mine such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, Games Etc. Finding a nice capable laptop under $1000 that can hold it's on , is rare. Though I'm not using this was it was possible to run newest Windows inside this through emulation. However , I have decided to keep this MacOs. Only bummer is that games like Mortal Kombat One on Steam do not support MacOs by default. Something to hope to see more developers support MacOs especially M1 on. It will come with charger though I did upgrade to faster charger. Overall, this is great laptop for many and did see options for iPhone and iPad integration mirroring etc. You do have option to upgrade storage ,size etc. For me though I care about portability so that's why stuck with 14 inch. Storage was 256 is aok for normal usage. However, if you are downloading big videogames they will take up lots of space. Most people do use some sort of cloud ie iCloud. However you could buy external drives for storage. I think this a great laptop that could buy for any friend or family member and they will love it, for what it is able to do.

detailedReviews 5: content: I have owned Apple computers and devices for years, so I can compare this laptop's performance against past MacBook Air generations. The processor in this computer is lightyears better than the old Intel in my 2020 MaBook Air. Internet surfing is very fast. My Internet browsers can handle having many tabs running without any issues. iMovie also works without making this computer struggle. (I often create and edit videos using iMovie. My previous MacBook Air would struggle to run iMovie. This new laptop has no issues running the software.)
Another aspect of this new laptop I am very please with is the process for transferring my files and apps from my old computer to this new one. In past generations of the MacBook Air, I would run into problems transferring everything over. I always backup my most important files, so I was prepared for complications, but this time everything transferred over to my new computer with minimal fuss. The transfer works through Wifi. I only needed my computer password and my Apple ID and password. The transferring process took no more than an hour.
The laptop itself is beautiful. Just like my previous laptop, the keyboard feels good and durable. I am very pleased with the return of the magnetized power cord. I missed this feature in the last generation of the MacBook--the magnet connection helps eliminate the struggle of finding the correct port to plug in the cord.
Overall, this laptop keeps all the positive features of past Apple computers and includes improvements that might seem small but make a real difference. I look forward to years of good service from this machine!

detailedReviews 6: content: Had a MacBook early 2015 before upgrading to the M4. I had to get a new laptop because my screen cracked and it wasn’t worth the price to fix, so I was very hesitant about which model to buy. After a lot of research, m4 seemed like the most economical choice and best investment. I still had my doubts about whether it was worth the price tag, especially since my early 2015 air was working just fine before the crack. However, there definitely is a noticeable difference in the overall function of the computer. (For reference, I upgraded to 512gb storage after having 256gb memory). This laptop runs faster & cleaner, with no issues opening multiple apps, even if one of them involves data analysis. No slowness, no lags, doesn’t heat up quickly, and battery lasts a while. Camera is crazy sharp as well, and moves with you as you move your head on FT, Zoom, teams, or other video conferencing apps. No issues with sound or mic use either on these apps so far. No regrets upgrading to the higher storage option - I desperately needed it and didn’t even know it, so I’d recommend doing that too if you keep getting that “not enough storage” message now. The only con (and annoyance) for me is that the usb ports are all usb-C, so normal flash drives and older phone chargers won’t plug in without an adaptor. I also think it should be cheaper, but that’s my issue with Apple in general lol and I’m hoping it lasts long.

detailedReviews 7: content: I Managed to get this for just under £1100 saving £300.
Phenomenal laptop with much more power than I need. I went for this spec for future proofing. This is my first Apple laptop and without a doubt the best laptop I've ever owned. I've been in the apple ecosystem for several years but never considered the MacBook Air until the JL discount. I couldn't believe the price reduction for a computer that had only been out for just over a month.
This has now replaced my two 1st Gen silicone Mac Minis and IPad Pro.
The screen size is just right. A little heavier than I expected but a lot lighter than the MacBook Pro. The speakers are a bit tinny but still decent. The camera is a big improvement on previous models but I tend to use the continuity camera 4K video calls feature of the recent operating systems. Battery life is excellent and lasts me several days with one charge.
It turns on instantly like an iPad and I don't miss the touch screen.
There are loads of tutorials on YouTube to get the best out of the MacBook Air.
It will need a dongle as it only has two thunderbolt ports but this will allow you connect it up to two separate monitors, if required, SD cards and other peripherals.
This also comes with a two year JL warranty unlike Apple.
No buyers remorse. If you're looking for a does it all laptop then the base model or this is definitely worth considering.

detailedReviews 8: content: I've never thought I was ever going to get a MacBook as I was always a Windows User. However, since I've been working IT Support for Harvard University, many of my end users are on MacBooks, and after working on them and setting up dozens, I really enjoyed the macOS.
So, it was time for me to get myself one and I wasn't disappointed at all. The M4 chip is amazing. Since it has more power than the M3 chip, it can thermal throttle easier, but this won't be an issue for the average user. Upon setup, I made sure my macOS was updated to the latest macOS Sequoira 15.3.2 and double-checked the battery cycle which was 2. This is normal because factory testing is needed for quality purposes, so do not be alarmed.
I already use about 16-17GBs of RAM daily so the 24GBs of RAM is a must-have for my use (ServiceNow, Outlook, multiple different IT tabs, Garageband, etc). I appreciate that with the M4 MacBook Air, you can extend to two monitors NOW with the internal display open versus the M3 MacBook Air where you need the internal display closed. Sadly, I did chip the corner of my paint because a water bottle knocked it a bit.
I bought my MacBook Air for about $1,200 versus the original $1,399 because I had plenty of reward points earned using my MyBestBuy Via Credit card and with my plus membership, it gave me another $50 off which was sweet. I also financed it interest-free for the next two years.

detailedReviews 9: content: The new m4 MacBook Air is truly a powerhouse, just about anything you throw at it, it’ll handle with ease. Perfect for photo editing, and with the 24GB’s in RAM it’ll handle an immense amount of multi-tasking. For such a thin computer, and this thing is thin (wow), it never over heats, is never loud, and is as portable as your personal mobile device. The only drawback is the lack of available ports, but I suppose that’s the sacrifice you make for the compact and discreet design. I mean when you think about it your iPhone or your IPad has only one, the natural step-up for this form factor would be to have 2, and of course slightly more for a pro model. The MagSafe charger is a wonder, and I’m beginning to wonder why other computer manufacturers haven’t begun to adopt similar designs. For heavy AI workloads or for complex video editing consider a MacBook Pro model as the GPU on the air only runs 10cores, and the m4 pro runs 16-20, (even more for M4 max). As always though Apple maintains its place as the number one producer of not only the most powerful tech but also the most consumer friendly and usable products. This is a must have, and if you’ve been on the fence for awhile about making the switch from Windows to Mac OS this is the time to do so with this product as your entry point.

detailedReviews 10: content: My review is five stars however that’s for Best Buy’s excellent customer service regarding this purchase I bought the 13 inch MacBook Air and took it home and quickly realized it was a little bit too tiny for me. I’m coming off at 15 inch MacBook Pro. After trying it out for a couple days I called Best Buy and asked if I could exchange my MacBook Air from a 13 inch to 15 inch MacBook Air. They allow me to return the computer. They did not charge me a restocking fee. And they swap my AppleCare from the 13 inch model to the 15 inch model without a glitch. It was an excellent experience and I think Best Buy for its customer service policies. You guys were great so that’s my review on the 13th MacBook Air I think it’s a nice computer but it’s a bit small the screen I think compare compared to the 15 inch model which is superior by far. I have that 24 GB RAM and 512 SSD. 13 inch models are great however, when you have a 15 inch model in front of you it just makes everything look better. The screen resolution is much better than the 13 inch model and I’m very happy with my purchase in the return and exchange thank you very much for selling me your computer. I got a great deal from you guys even better than Amazon prime day you guys have the best price so thank you. Will buy another Mac from you guys again I promise anyway that’s my review. I’m not sure if you guys wanna post it or not but thanks for everything. Five stars
