detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: When I first saw the Nike Men’s Promina’s, they didn’t stand out to me as a gorgeous shoe. As someone who has a variety of shoes in their collection, from beat up Nike Pegasus Turbos that have seen miles of asphalt to some coveted Jordan 1’s to the casual Nike slides, I wasn’t sure there was a spot in the line up for the Promina’s.
Upon putting them on I felt like I grew three inches. Being a 6’-3” male, I typically stand out amongst some of my peers but the shoes felt a little like stilts at first. The overall build of the shoe caters to the casual use, no intense running in these. They are advertised as walking shoes and that was the primary purpose of wanting these as we now have a toddler that is always on the move and wants to go outside for walks.
The fabric and style of the Promina is similar to most Nike running shoes, nothing too stand out special. They have a bit more “chunkiness” to them that suits different styles that I was hoping would fit well with my usual attire. The shoes will go with just about any outfit, but in my opinion don’t have the flair, signature style, or lasting comfort that makes me want to take these out onto town.
This leads into comfortability of the shoe. Once I started walking in them I couldn’t help but notice they felt fairly stiff and rigid. I chalked that up to the normal break in of new shoes. After a few weeks I didn’t get the feeling that the thicker sole was really providing significant cushion or that desired “cloud-like” feel. For a shoe built for walking, these left me wanting to find something less chunky and with more “give” in the sole.
Overall, I think this shoe is for the person who isn’t picky about their style, is looking for a very basic walking shoe, and likes the more rigid/chunky look while also maintains the Nike athletic look. I personally did not feel like they were Nike’s best product on the market and would point people in the direction of Nike’s other running shoes such as the Zoom Flys or Pegasus as these have more functionality, similar enough style, and feel much more comfortable.

detailedReviews 2: content: Straight out of the box, the first thing I noticed about the Nike Promina was the oversized midsole. Not only are they large but they have some wave-like sculpting near the arch of the foot that really draws one’s attention. Looking a little closer, there’s a hit of more premium material with the heel tab being composed on a synthetic leather. Coming away from those two key details, the overall construction of the shoe is sturdy with a basic knit upper. Nothing special like Flyknit, but still very lightweight and breathable for the feet.
Stepping into the shoe, they were comfortable right away, both underfoot and in the toe box area. They definitely run true to size. The cushion on these is unlike any shoe I have worn before, which comes with its pros and cons. The pros are that for somebody like me that has bad knees, the cushion really helps absorb some of that impact while running/doing cardio. It also feels a little springy, which makes it easier to keep pace for longer. Somewhat unrelated to performance, these have a 1.5-2 inch lift at the heel so if you want to add a little to your height, these would be a good option. The main con for the shoe is that walking, especially uphill, feels a little unnatural because of how tall the heel is. The heel is also a little bulky so it can get caught on things sometimes, mostly stairs in my experience. All things considered I would say these are a great shoe for running/cardio, especially if the area is relatively flat.
With regards to style, I went with the triple black colorway and I think that was a good option. The shoe lends itself well to a more subtle outfit and you can add accents around the shoe to make them pop a little bit more. Overall, I would mostly use these shoes for exercise over casual wear.
The thing I liked most about these sneakers was the shock that the midsole absorbed while I do my distance running, it’s definitely my knees favorite part too. I wish that the heel of the shoe was a little less bulky and lower to the ground so they could feel more natural while walking and not get caught on stairs when walking down them. However this being said, the Nike Promina will be my exercise shoes until they fall apart!

detailedReviews 3: content: The Nike Promina Shoes are a great running shoe! The foam cushion feels very comfortable under foot. The toe-box felt a bit tight, so I would suggest maybe going half a size up than your regular size if you have a wider foot. Nike Promina isn't the most stylish shoe out there and I the colorway of the shoe was very basic. The fabric used for the shoe is pretty decent, besides normal wear and tear I think Nike Promina would a good shoe even for everyday wear and can last for a long time. I think the design is pretty ordinary. I like the soft cushion of the shoe, it makes running very comfortable and effortless. The shoe is fairly light and feels great on foot. I would say they are not the most flattering shoe out there and could definitely use some upgrades, especially design wise. The color way of the shoe was not great, I would definitely change that. I would say design was solid and the shoe looks like it would hold up pretty well. The big cushion definitely takes some getting used to and can feel uncomfortable whilst doing other activities such as weightlifting or even walking.

detailedReviews 4: content: Pretty comfortable right out of the box. Fits true to size for length and width.
Love the design and uniform color. I really like the blackout colorway but often disappointed by shoe manufacturers with “all black” shoes that end up having multiple shades of gray and black. The coloring on this shoe is very consistent.
There’s a thick rubber pad across the entire bottom face of the shoe for durability to support longer walks and chasing my kids around the yard. The upper mesh is a thick padding - good for durability but a little warm in the forward toe box. We’ll see if that locks in sweat and odor over time. I’d like a future model to have a little more breathability.
I’ve enjoyed wearing them at work, on family walks, and around the house. Solid value for the price!

detailedReviews 5: content: Fit/sizing: True to size. Apparently made with a wide toe box and forefoot area.
Materials: Soft mesh/recycled fabric. Soft foam. Great for the price.
Pros: Overall comfort. Durable outsole. Thick midsole.
Con: Not a very protective shoe.
This shoe is very comfortable straight out of the box. It has a really thick and soft midsole. The upper is made of a nice fabric that requires no break-in period. The shoe is classified as a walking shoe and I can see why. I can wear this pair throughout the day and it won't hurt my feet. It took a little bit of time to get used to because of the shape of the midsole. It provides a rocking effect so it might feel weird to anyone who hasn't experienced that before. However, that goes away really fast. I think it's a perfect for anyone that needs an all black pair for jobs that require long periods of standing. The outsole seems very durable so far and it'll probably make for a long life of the shoe. The cushioning isn't made of Nike's top of the line foams, but it feels very soft. It's comparable to other Nike cushioning systems. You also can't beat the price range. I appreciate that it's part of the Move to Zero program as well.

detailedReviews 6: content: The Promina is a great everyday shoe for walking. I used it to walk about 2 miles everyday on a trail. The Promina was comfortable and the all black is able to blend into any outfit. As someone who is training for his second half marathon, these are nice relaxing pair of shoes to slip into on my rest days and go for a walk.
The two cons regarding it are simply that you might need to size down if you don’t want to use the extra eyelet and that it takes a bit to break in. The eyelet issue isn’t huge if you don’t mind the shoe “hugging” your ankle and are used to it. I wear a size 11 and kept slipping out of it until I use the extra eyelet. The feel is good but a little awkward since you might feel a little off center when you initially walk in the Promina. Once you get used to it and break them in, they that awkward feel disappears. It took about a week for me for that to happen.

detailedReviews 7: content: My initial impression was the shoe was clunky as I’m not use to a shoe with a rocking sole; however, after a few days I appreciate the comfort of the shoe for walks with my dog. The upper was pretty standard but didn’t breathe well, which was fine because it’s fall, but might get too hot during the summer in Oklahoma. Another thing I’d prefer is brighter colorways but that’s not a big deal. I thought the show construction was good and it appears to be durable. I also liked the fit. I have a narrow foot and didn’t feel like my foot was sliding, which is good. The show definitely felt stable even with the high sole. Overall a good walk shoe. This is not a running shoe, all comments are considering walking or everyday wear.

detailedReviews 8: content: The Men’s Nike Promina shoe is a super comfortable and durable training shoe I would highly recommend.
As a person who trains both running and lifting it’s important to find a shoe to help out with both. The Promina fits those needs to a tee. With its sleek design, airy fabric and stable but light sole, these are definitely go to shoes for training.
Beyond training, these also make for a great everyday shoe. They’re easy to slip on and can take on most tasks with ease! The design of these shoes are also super unique and look great for that athlesiure style and look.
I will say that the sole may be challenging for some to get use to as it does seem a little thick but you definitely won’t regret your decision!

detailedReviews 9: content: I have mostly worn these walking in a hospital. This shoe has only been worn for short trips, but daily short trips with 3 hour drives. The amount of cushion is really nice! However there is a lump near the heel and it feels a little strange. I can’t say I’m used to it quite yet! I’m not sure if everyone would find it comfortable or get used to it. I think the fabric portion of the shoe is quite narrow and not enough room for expansion when the foot is inserted. Due to the fabric portion not being wide enough, I do not wear socks with it as my pinky toe is squished without one. If you have wide thick feet this shoe may be a gamble. If you want a comfortable shoe, I would definitely give this shoe a try on! I’m bummed they did not work for me!

detailedReviews 10: content: The Nike Promina shoes are comfortable, snug, and extremely supportive. The arch support is exactly what I look for in a workout shoe. They’re very comfortable and snug around the sides and top of the foot, which are some of the most overlooked places that experience irritation. The only thing I don’t care for about the shoe is the tongue of the shoe isn’t wide enough because I can see portions of my socks. And there isn’t enough cushion in the tongue. Overall it’s very good looking and comfortable shoe, despite the minor personal tweaks.
