I find his outlook on life ('Life is short and not a rehearsal') truly inspiring. While some might find the openness about love and sex unconventional, looking past those moments reveals a person with profound depth and warm humor, sharing about himself and his family. He experiences dreams and fears, faces criticism, and navigates highs and lows. John Barrowman is incredibly self-aware, can laugh at himself, and admits his mistakes. He's incredibly likable, and many celebrities could learn from him. His autobiographies and social media presence are a clever way to preempt scandals by controlling his own narrative. This approach to public engagement is unusual, but also very proactive and brave. His open discussion of his homosexuality and advocacy for same-sex partnerships further highlight his character. Reading this book offers insights into 'Gays,' and John Barrowman can certainly walk in high heels better than many women. The biographies are only available in English and can be found used for under a euro. I felt a 'Don't stop me now, I'm having a good time' feeling while reading, especially at such a bargain price. John Barrowman, the frugal Scot, would surely appreciate that. I hope he and his sister will write another sequel someday; his current involvement with 'Arrow,' numerous conventions, and concert tours surely provide enough material.

title: Inspiring outlook, profound depth, and warm humor
detailedReviews 2: content: John Barrowman's first book "Anything Goes" was an excellent read and it left me eagerly waiting for his next. I bought "I am what I am" as soon as it came out in paperback and I wasn't disappointed. :-) His first book told you mainly about his career with stories about his family, partner and friends. This book tells you more about John as a person and how fame has affected him, plus he continues to tell us about what's been happening in his career, more heart warming stories about his family, partner, beloved dogs and friends. John makes no apologies for who is or what he believes in, but why he should? This book also tells you about his 2009 tour "Music Music Music", his parents also accompanied him on the tour as he loves to have them touring with him if it's possible. I was lucky enough to be in the audience when he did his show at "King Georges Hall" in Blackburn, Lancashire in 2009. He even comments on what a great audience we were and that he'd had a great night, I thought that was a lovely gesture to mention that night, (and we all hope he returns in the future to do another show for us). :-) Again John is very open and frank in this book; it just shows that he's a fantastic person in everyway. :-) This is another fabulous, enjoyable, interesting and compulsive read. If you enjoyed his first book I'm sure you'll enjoy this one too. :-) Personally, I hope John will consider writing another book and if he does I'll be one of the first to buy it. :-)

I have been a fan of John and his character Captain Jack since the first time he graced the screen in Doctor Who but sometimes when you like an actor as a certain character you might not want to get to know the real person, that is NOT the case here. If you LIKE John Barrowman now you will LOVE him by the end of this book. Giving you insights into his career and family life he delights with funny sometimes touching stories on everything from personal to public life. It is such an entertaining read and a must if you are a fan.
