I could not help but start jumping up and down on the spot to test out the bounce of the shoe- almost like being on a trampoline. The breathable woven upper wraps the foot securely and the thin but lightly padded tongue sits comfortably across the top of the foot- which I absolutely love because I hate it when the tongue pushes or rubs against the top of my foot or ankle. They fit true to size with enough room in the toebox.
I have been running with the Novablast 4s for over 5 months now (on rotation ofcourse) and I have covered approximately 100kms in them, with 21km being my longest run in them. The Novablast 4s were one of my staple rotation shoes when training for the Comrades Marathon, more specifically for those "fast" training sessions.

Responsive, light, and comfortable cushioning. I am not a shoe expert so I don’t normally focus on technical things such as hill drop etc but I do know what a good shoe feels like so I’m gonna explain it in dummy terms 🤩 also because I am more focused on protecting my feet and not getting injured while putting in quality sessions…
What I did do and got phenomenal feedback for is recommend this shoe ALOT for guys who were training for marathons and ultra marathons especially when doing their tempo and longish run that this is their safest bet! Some went as far as racing in them which is great!
Carbon plated shoes are definitely the “in thing” but what people don’t know is how dangerous it is to train in them especially because some of us are not fast enough to pull that off….The Novablast 4 provided me with exactly what I need need…in my books it definitely gives the effect of plated shoes as it should because we can’t ignore the FF blast 💥

The only place I probably wouldn’t take it would be the track for speed repeats because I like to be lower to the ground. However even with the high stack, the shoe is stable. Midsole is soft but still responsive (not overly soft). I really love this shoe and plan to buy it again.

As someone who has always bought Nike products in the past, the great reviews for the Asics Novablast 4 were enough to sway me to try something different and I am so glad I did.
They are extremely comfortable, breathable on the tops, have brilliant grip and it feels like I am running on springs. They have great support for the entire foot and running in them feels very gentle on the feet, legs and knees. They are a fantastic shoe.
Just something to bear in mind- what makes them so cooling/breathable for the feet means that they aren't the best for running in the rain...learnt that the hard way after getting caught in torrential rain the other day but that's my fault and that of the Great British weather.
But all in all, they are well worth the purchase and I'm looking forward to running in them for a long time.

Laces don’t slip and great grip for running in the rain and on slick leaves here in Seattle. The flip-side of that is they don't give a tight lock down like some shoes, especially trail runners, give. Likewise, the shoes have zero hotspots for me and I could wear them all day if these weren't my dedicated runners. I really hope they don't change the design next year!

i can guarantee you that it gives te support you need to go faster with a lot more stability, very response spring like feeling especially because i am a fore foot runner, mostly on my toes it literally responds very well to my running style.
From my experience with the shoe bouncy, energetic, light weight, great cushion, ff blas.
I do recommend for both medium and fast pace training. If i had to race in it i would maybe go as far as a half marathon. All levels runners can easily adapt to the shoe from beginner to seasoned athletes.

detailedReviews 91: content: I’m a gel nimbus gal but I wanted to try the novablast. The gel nimbus has more cushion which I need because I have had trouble with plantar fasciitis in the past. The novablast 4 fit better size wise. For me, the nimbus 24 size 8.5 was snug. The nimbus 25 size 8.5 was big. The novablast 4 size 8.5 was a little smaller than nimbus 25. I have to buy the oldest model in the cheapest color because I can’t afford to pay $160 for a new pair of shoes every 5 months. The novablast is a great shoe, but I will go back to nimbus, probably 26 or 27, next time.

detailedReviews 92: content: I had the Asics NovaBlast 3 and loved them. I decided to go with the version 4 since 5 is also out. These are even better than the 3. They are a little wider so more room which I was fine with. They are even more cushioned and feel amazing on all kinds of runs. I wear these for long day runs, tempo, easy pace. I still wear my HOKA Mach for my sprint days though. I have found that these shoes have an amazing response time. My cadence is its best with these. I used to love my Saucony Triumph but now my new FAV are the Asics Novablast.

The shoelace holes rip out completely after about 2-3 months of wearing them. I only wear them for jogging 3x a week so not a lot of wear. ASICS did however honor the warranty and gave me a new pair but the new pair are doing the same thing!! ASICS need to put some kinda plastic ring around the shoelace hole so they don’t tear out.

I have purchased several pairs of Novablast for work over the past 2.5 years. I have always been able to put them on and go with no discomfort. However, when I purchased a pair of Novablast 4 and wore them to work I had so much pain in an area of my foot that I don't usually have pain. I was limping half way through my shift and could hardly walk towards the end of my shift. I tried adjusting the laces, tried different socks but nothing helped. I called to ask about an exchange but was told they would not work with me. So now I have a $140 pair of shoes that I can't wear.

Traction is poor, slipped on warm up, gave me now confidence on run.
I have petite feet, narrow on heel wide forefeet, I sized up but still I comfy, can feel a ridge in the forefoot after 6 miles, quite distracting, toes went numb.
Drop not quite for me either.
Great weight tho.
Make the drop a 6mm, offer wides, sort the traction out and this would be a great shoe.

I'm hitting 45 this year (running since I was 12), so thought I'd give the Novablast a whirl – and wow, I really didn't know what I was missing. So much more spring in my runs! And the upper fit is the exact same breathable feeling as the Duomax. And just as light weight. I really like the new stretchy tongue on these too which stays in place.

When I decide to get up and out the door, I don't have time to sit down and bother with my shoes. Now, I have to locate and pull up a swatch of fabric that is suppose to be the tongue but wiggles it's way down and then lace the shoes. The soles spread like marshmallows and they are easy to step and trip on. I would like to return these shoes.

detailedReviews 101: content: I think they are mostly okay outside. A little heavy but when you hit a certain speed, you feel the spring and the forward propulsion is not too aggressive. However, when the weather was too bad to go outside, I took them onto the treadmill. A really really awful experience. I felt completely unstable in them and thought they would slip as the grip is terrible on that surface and the mild rocker just does not work on a treadmill. It made me rethink the shoes a bit to be honest. I think I would recommend them for outdoor only and for relaxed runs, when speed is not important.

detailedReviews 102: content: Started off with Asics about 4 years ago and loved them but when I reordered the same trainers they had changed (toebox was so much wider) so wasn't happy with them. Returned them and went onto Brooks instead, big mistake as they were awful but I did try and perservere due to the cost. Went back to Asics recently - the Novablast 4 - and they are the best trainers for running I have ever had. Could tell the difference straight away. From now on I will stick to Asics and also love their returns policy that if you don't like them you can return them even if you have worn them. Gives you peace of mind and lets you try them out properly - go half a size up though as I am usually a 6 but 6.5 is perfect for running.

Instead, ASICS required me to return my shoes, pay a restocking fee, and make a completely new order online in order to get the proper size. Doing it this way, I was unable to use my healthcare worker discount again and lost my discount on the order. I do not understand why exchanging my shoes for another size is not available through the website.
