detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: I am enjoying the game very much. The gameplay is engaging and suspenseful, the zombies respawn and ammo is scarce, keeping you on your toes, uncertain whether you'll be able to defend yourself during the next encounter. I'm playing it on PS5, and while it comes on a PS4 disc, the developers have created an updated version to take advantage of the PS5's more powerful hardware, as well as its new controller. You are given access to this updated version for free upon inserting the PS4 disc for the first time. It's very cheap currently across all stores and online marketplaces, and it's an incredible value. It feels good to play, the graphics are spectacular, especially on PS5 with raytracing. A solid recommendation for any PS4/5 owner.

detailedReviews 2: content: Resident Evil 2 was already excellent game, but this remake makes it even better.First of all, graphics are stellar and even on PS4 it looks state of the art. Character models look wonderful, but what steals the show are zombies and gore. Zombies look incredibly detailed and it might be goriest representation of them in any video game made to this very day. It will give you chills when you will see them. Soundtrack is excellent and atmospheric, building up fear even more. Voice acting is also top-notch and it doesn't sound forced at all. Biggest improvement in this remake, other than graphics, is gameplay. Biggest improvement in this remake, other than graphics, is gameplay. Instead of sticking with tank controls and fixed camera, this game took best from Resident Evil 6, with over-the-shoulder camera and making shooting a lot easier and controls more convenient and fun. Difficulty also got changed. While in the original saving was done only by ink ribbons, here we get auto-saves and checkpoints, which in my opinion makes it a great choice and game much easier to enjoy even for casual, because original was extremely punishing. Worry not, though, because if you want classic Resident Evil difficulty, hard difficulty setting gives you limited ink ribbons that you have to find and turns off autosaves. Wonderful compromise if you ask me. That's not the only change, because stages got expanded, some jump scares got changed and you don't have to replay whole game twice to see the true ending, because now second playthrough of each character has new content only, removing the padding of replaying the whole game again. Even with that change, it's a good 15-20 hours long game, which is good in my book! The only small downside of this game are changes in the plot and notes. Notes got much shorter and most of the connections to previous Resident Evil are removed, making this more of a stand-alone game. There are also some changes to the plot itself, one of them big and somewhat controversial, but I won't spoil it and you will have to find out for yourself. To sum it up, great game just got better. It is definitive Resident Evil 2 version of the game, a much better remake than Resident Evil 1 got. If you're into horror or want to experience Resident Evil 2 again, then I strongly recommend it! One of the best remakes to date, making most of the changes for the better and one of the best games! Strong GOTY contender! Less

detailedReviews 5: content: Capcom have done an unbelievably good job in remaking this masterpiece. They successfully maintain aspects that made the original a classic hit, while seamlessly combining modern game play mechanics that creates a smoother experience. Excellent decision to use the RE engine from a technical and artistic standpoint. It captures the grotesque details of zombie gore and blood-soaked hallways, to the beautifully decorated RPD main foyer in stunning detail. It looks and feels amazing to play. Also, the soundtracks during enemy encounters, particularly Mr X, make combat encounters much more terrifying than I remember! A worthy re-imagining, and much needed revival in the survival horror genre. 10/10! Looking forward to DMCV :)

detailedReviews 6: content: NnyCW for Capcom CityResident Evil 2 greatly improved upon the original version of Resident Evil (though the remake of it bests this at best and ties it at worst) Everything you liked about the original Resident Evil is made better and everything that was a problem in the original is fixed here. And the ability to play as Leon and Claire as well as alternate scenarios for both of them mean this game sure as hell has replay value. (you have to play the game thru four times, all of which are different, before you've really beaten the game) If you don't have Resident Evil 2 by now, there is no reason not to finally pick up a copy of this CW for CapCity.

detailedReviews 8: content: For those who don't know, this is a reboot on the classic 1998 PlayStation game. The story has had a complete overhaul. It still contains key elements from the original but better scripted. The graphics are powered by Capcom's RE Engine which was used for RE7 BIOHAZARD. RE2 plays over the shoulder ( like GEARS OF WAR and RE4 ) and you play Leon Kennedy who is a rookie cop and Claire Redfield the young sister of Chris Redfield, the hero of the original game. For those who played the original, you won't be disappointed and for those who never played it before won't be disappointed either. There is DLC available for costumes and weapons. The praise is truly deserved for this title and is worthy of any RE or survival horror fans attention.

The player assumes the role of 2 unsuspecting victims, Leon S. Kennedy, the rookie cop on his first day for the R.P.D. or Claire Redfield, a college student visiting town in search for her brother Chris. You must fight to survive and uncover the truth behind what has caused the seemingly never-ending nightmare. The game itself is a perfect revival of the Survival Horror genre we came to know and love from the earlier entries in a way that brings the fans something both new and exciting, but also something very familiar and close to the old Resident Evil experience. The game brings back the classic story but also re-envisions a lot of events of the original giving the old-school fans something completely new. A big difference in the remake is the game now being perceived from an over-the-shoulder perspective this time allowing for a more updated, modernised style of playing which makes it a great way for newcomers to start the series. The game is almost flawless in every department from sound design to storytelling so I find it incredibly hard to find flaws which is why, as a long-time fan of Resident Evil I feel confident in saying that this is the perfect route for the franchise to take and have already recommended it both to the newcomers and the veterans of the series. detailedReviews 28: content: Resident Evil 2 (1998) is a game I classify as a must own. The game has a AWESOME soundtrack, amazing atmosphere, good voice acting, great graphics, and amazing story. The game is for those looking for great PS1 games. It's also for those interested in how to the Resident Evi 2 Remake and the original are both similar and different. I give Resident Evil 2 (1998) a 10/10. The game does have tank controls and limited saves but you get use to the controls. And If you play your cards right with the limited saves, it shouldn't be a problem. I do reccomend you play on beginner to fully appreciate/enjoy the game. But other than that it's still a great game.

detailedReviews 33: content: A fantastic game. The fixed camera angles are iconic to the original ps1 resident evil titles, and are implemented perfectly, old school tank controls leave this game one of the only games that bring genuine nostalgia to me. The story voice acting has improved vastly from the original resident evil 1 but by no means is it an acting masterclass but its not awful especially for the time period. It's sets the bar so high that even it's remake counterpart as good as it is still lacks the It factor even though it is vastly superior in many ways. Definitely a must buy that never gets old.

The tyrant boss in the game is my favourite. Loved playing both Leon's and Claire's storyline. Some awesome dlc content too where you get to play as Chris which is a bit more action based rather than horror/puzzle. More of a mini game that one. Love this game would definitely recommend!

There are some minor changes here and there but they only serve to improve the game and don't take away from the experience. This is a remake after all, so changes are to be expected. But the core of horror experience of the game is still there, only enhanced.

Three things made this game amazing; Plot, Gameplay and Atmosphere. Hideki absolutely capitlized brilliantly on the game's different environments with different background themes and songs. Also, the cut scenes and FMV made this game a lot more compelling to play and sucked you into its plot as if you were there. This game definitely has a place as arguably the best Survival horror title of all time. Unfortunately, it sequels (3 and CVX) were a disaster.

The graphics still look nice, the puzzles & action are as fun as ever. My only complaint it the controls are kinda hard to get used to. Definitely one of the early 3d games that hadn't figured out how to utilize the joystick well. It can be irritating at times. But otherwise, still a great game all these years later. And the n64 port is nice because there's really no loading at all. Pick it up if you loved it back in the day, it's still great!

It's a must have for RE fans and in my opinion, it is the best of the classic RE games. Corny voice acting and crappy graphics but it's a port from the PS1 so you gotta understand, it's not a remake. This game is decent in every way such as your damage meter, enemy hit points, inventory spaces, to health rejuvination item amounts, ammo, puzzles and boss difficulty andhow frequent enemies appear(on EASY MODE. Don't try playing normal unless you are an expert.). I give the gameplay a 4.6 and the overall a 4.8.

detailedReviews 42: content: Dated but loaded with contentAt a small price this is a nice game to buy. It's a large step up from the original RE but it's also the most outdated. It comes with an A/B scenario so you're encouraged to play through the game twice. It also has a few side modes like Extreme Battle and 4th Survivor, so you'll definitely get about 8-10 hours out of this. It's just cheesey, super linear, and lacks a few mechanics from newer games like the quick-turn. Otherwise it's a good fun experience with awesome music, just not my personal favourite. One person found this helpful

I have many childhood memories of this game for the PSX and was very happy to relive my misspent youth. I do have a PS2, but my copy of Resident Evil 2 had scratched to the point that the PS2 couldn't read it. But, I just happen to have a Gamecube because of Resident Evil 4, so this is great! I also bought the Resident Evil Nemesis for Gamecube for the same reason. They are both really good, and haven't lost anything in the transfer from PS1 to Gamecube. There are 2 difficulty modes, "easy" and "normal" The amount of ammo is doubled for easy mode, as well as being a few less enemies to kill. Overall, for its time, this is a brilliant game. It is compelling to play again and again, trying both characters for each scenario. It is compatible with the playstation 1 console, the playstation 2 console, and the playstation 3 console. For the Playstation 1 and 2 console it will require a playstation 1 memory card, and will take up 2 of the 15 blocks to save. The playstation 3 will require you to format an internal memory card on the system, using some of the hard drive space. Leon is a rookie cop in Raccoon City and meets up with Claire during an infestation of zombies and other monsters in the small town that is on the brink of destruction. Capcom got it right, put in a juicy section of the game with only one thing limiting you: TIME. That's the key to a succesful demo, get the player hungry for more. When I played it I was in a dilemma during the whole 30 minutes take it slow to avoid jumpscares or rush in to be able to finish it. That version was then ported to the GameCube in 2003. Though the game is in desperate need of a remake like Resident Evil received on the GameCube, it still holds up for those who remember the original release.Story: Set months after the events of RE, the T-virus has reached Raccoon City and residents are being transformed into Zombies. The city is shut down and escape routes have been blocked off. You play as Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie cop who arrives in Raccoon City shortly after the outbreak started or Claire Redfield, Chris's sister who is looking for him. Once you find out Chris has left Raccoon City, and headed for Umbrella's headquarters in Europe, you both look for a way out of the city. Chris is helped by a mysterious Ada Wong, who says her boyfriend was a researcher named John who worked in the mansion lab while Claire is helped by a small girl named Sherry, who turns out to be William Burkin's daughter.Gameplay: Survivor Horror, Single-player. The gameplay elements are not much different from Resident Evil. You fight mutant zombies and creatures, while solving puzzles to advance the plot and reach your goal. You have the same type of weapons from RE such as hand guns, shotguns, grenade launchers, knives, with the addition of percentage based ammo weapons like the Flame Thrower, Spark Shot and Machine Gun, and other new weapons like the Crossbow, and stronger versions of the Hand Guns and Magnums. The puzzles in the game are not very difficult if you have played any RE game but they still add some challenge to the game. Some of the enemies in the game include zombies, cerebrus (dogs), Lickers, plants, giant spiders, moths and a huge Alligator. While gameplay is fairly short (around 3 hours), you can play a 2nd walkthrough of the game with the other main character and get an alternate ending and gameplay will be affected by results of the first walkthrough. Some elements affected include all percentage based ammo weapons that you used won't be available and if you didn't kill the Alligator, you will have to on the 2nd walkthrough. Conclusion: While the controls, graphics, and sound are bit outdated, this is just a direct port of the original game. Voice acting is weak, but better than the original release of RE. If you are looking to complete your collection of the RE series, this game is a must. Hopefully it will get remade in the years to come along with RE3 but who knows. It is still worth owning if you still have a GameCube or it will play on the Wii with a GameCube controller and memory card. I still rate this game as 9 out of 10. Less

If you beat the game with a certain rank, you can unlock the Hunk & Tofu missions (yes, Tofu is literally a big piece of tofu with a beret on lol) where basically you have to just get to the roof using a limited supply of weapons and healing items.I'll admit, I'm a bit dissapointed with the graphics. Back when the game was first made I was amazed at how everything looked.. but that was back in what, 1997? Compared to today's graphic standards, Resident Evil 2 is a joke with extremley pixalated characters and blood, not to mention the characters mouths dont even move. You really wont be amazed with the graphics at all unless you are looking for some nostalgia like I was.The sound effects and music are still awesome. The guns still sound powerful, and the voice acting (except when Leon screams "ADA!" at the end of the game) is still really good. The sounds of zombies moaning, Lickers' claws tapping cement, and the other ghoulish SFX made by the monsters still spook me a bit. The music is interesting to say the least. Sometimes you are given a welcoming, soft tune one minute then turn around to be trapped in a devastating, soul shattering, haunting tune. I love it!To end my review, I really suggest if you haven't played Resident Evil 2 by now then the Gamecube version is perfect for you. To other RE fans, you may just want to rent it to say you played it again... I on the other hand loved this game.3 people found this helpful Less

The "boss" of the game, William Birkin, constantly mutates and starts to look amazing. If you've played RE Outbreak, you'll see this guy in the opening video totally remade. The game features a great story as well, as is the style of the series. This game proves that graphics aren't everything, although I still hope it will be graphically overhauled some day.One person found this helpful Less

This is without a doubt one of the finest N64 games ever. Less

He wasn't all that hard, but I got scared and I'll tell you why:I was walking up to the door and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this red thing walking outside past the window. I heard this noise and I said, "Oh my god I am going to die."Seriously, that was a pretty scary moment. Anyway, the graphics are exceptional for the N64 but playstation are better. The music/sound effects are better on the playstation but are acceptable on the N64. There are two people you can pick and two difficulty settings. Pretty nifty. There is a violence setting where you can have it high, medium or low. Kids under 10, I suggest low. High is pretty bad when you die. Medium is average.Wor. Less

I don't know what gives sellers the right to price a game, A GAME, that high. This isn't ebay. You can make the game easier by lowering the difficulty, but you will end up with a shortage of bullets and inventory space constantly. The reason mainly being the feel of gameplay on the Gamecube controller. It's not real bad gameplay-wise on Gamecube. It's just kinda a little weird, when you've played it a lot on other controllers. title: Classic RE game, exact adaptation, cool port
detailedReviews 68: content: Definitely a classicWhen I was little I grew up watching my older brother play Resident Evil. Since then, I've been a fan. Now that I'm older I decided I would give it a shot of playing them and experience it myself (because obviously watching someone else play isn't the same). This is by far my favorite RE game in the series. Why do I love it? Because it's a classic and for me it's very nostalgic. If you're starting to play RE games or have an old GameCube lying around definitely play this game. The graphics are a bit better than the original PS1 graphics. The game itself is easier than any of the other RE games (so definitely recommended for beginners). detailedReviews 71: content: Really disappointing that I have to write this review but I specifically bought this because I was led to believe it would give me the free PS5 upgrade, and it clearly says on the product page still that this includes the free PS5 upgrade, which is only true if your account region matches the disc region, which in my case did not. I received a Region 2 version for Europe so am not offered the free PS5 upgrade for my account, which is a New Zealand account, so I assume I will only get PS5 upgrades offered to me on my PS5 for Region 4 game discs. Usually Mighty Ape is pretty onto it but sadly not in this case.

detailedReviews 72: content: Not a review... a rantThis game as well as RE3 for GC are STRAIGHT ports from the older games. The graphics and resolutions have been cleaned up some but there is NO new content like in the RE1 remake. Capcom first announced these games with a price of $.. and now they want people to pay double that for games that have nothing new and are several years old. I love the RE series and really want to have the complete set for GC but I can't justify paying nearly full price for straight ports. My advice is wait till these games come down in price. One person found this helpful

It is extremly violent, extremly bloody, and extremly grose. You do nothing but go around and blow up zombies that devour living human being. Not to mention, this game will give you nightmares. I played the one for playstation and it is exactly the same as this: Violent, bloody, gross, and extreamly scary. I have to admit, when I played this at a friend's house, I got nightmares for three nights.

Worth playing to this very day but if your not a fan of playstation 1 graphics (they are dated) may wish to grab ps3 or other updated version which are also well liked.Resident Evil 2:The highlight of the entire survival horror genre in many people's opinions. Bringing the genre to it's peak with it's entertaining story and game play, game makers must of started to feel pressure to change up the formula rather trying to top this gaming masterpeiece.Yea some might laugh at me calling this a masterpeice but to those people i say it is a masterpeice of cheesy lines and entertaining gameplay and story with cheap thrills and scares along the way.Resident Evil 3: This one is seen in two very opposing lights. On one side some people think of this as the best resident evil game it had the most thrills and chills something around every corner however this is clearly where resident evil started to turn away from it's genrethis is the start resident evil turning into a action oriented game. In the view of some people leading to the downfall of the series a few years down the road to others a rebirth. To me personally it's a little of both. It's a good game nonetheless i enjoyed the mini game at the end more than the actually story mode.Code Veronica: This was a good game what makes or breaks this game for fans who already played the previous entries is the story. Many found this game to be the pinnacle of Survival Horror with it the game makers balancing the gameplay better than they did in RE3 as well as improving the graphics backgrounds now rendered in full 3d. I personally didn't like the story so overall i found it to be an underwhelming game but gameplay wise it was certainly was top notch with well balanced gameplay. Developers consider this to be a direct sequel to RE2.Resident Evil Zero: Zero is a good game but one plagued with problems from having to backtrack far to often to tedius item swapping to boring puzzles but some of us still forgive it because it's unique and classic style RE and for giving us some background story for the orignal RE.Resident Evil Outbreak & File #2: An average RE game with the ability to play with 3 other people online so really it was just an RE Social Experiment but a decent game nonetheless and you can play it single player if you wish to.Resident Evil 4: Made a full transition from survival horror to an plain ole action game barely maintaining any Horror elements at all and attempting to hold onto it's survival elements and enhance them. Opinions vary wildly on this onepersonally RE2 and 4 are my absolute favorites even so RE4 isn't really survival horror it's a great game nonetheless but you can see why long time fans would be dissapointed they expected surviaval horror and they didnt get it.Resident Evil 5: To some the last great resident evil game to others the series end of relevance... Tries to up the Survival elements even more swarming you with seemingly endless enemies forcing you to learn your enviroments and know when to run and when to fight which completly changes the gameplay and has little to nothing in common with the rest of the franchise. This games highlight by most accounts is the multiplayer you can play 2 player story mode. This in my opinion is RE dumbed down for the masses to enjoy if you can... mindless fun killing of the "undead". Fun for what it is i suppose.Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D/VS: 3d is basically the Mercenaries Mode from RE4 updated and with new scenarios and characters from RE5. It's fun especially if your a huge fan of RE4 but i wouldn't call it essential by any means. Game recieved mixed reviews basically if you want more RE4 get it if not forget it. Vs most would agree just forget it but if you have an iphone or ipad and you love RE4 and wish it had multiplayer online VS mode then hey give it a shot maybe you be one of the few who enjoy it.Resident Evil 6: Resident evil 6 tries to reinvent resident evil again an obvious attempt to renew the franchise however it fails in most fans opinions. The game takes a more cinematic approach the graphics are seriously impressive but where it suffers is gameplay the gameplay isn't as fun as in previously installments in most people's opinions and the game reviews reflect that with lower scores. An above average game but RE fans will be potentially turned off by the fact that this game doesn't resemble RE's past games at all. Also has co-op campaign.Revelations: Capcom's response to the negative feedback RE6 got. Resident Evil attempts to take the best of elements of classic RE and combine them with new RE. An episodic adventure that regains alot of the feeling of RE series. This brings the series back nearly as good as classics RE1 - Code Veronica as close we can hope for in this day and age. No co-op campaign this time around but a multiplayer raid mode instead.Revelations 2:Different Story line same idea as revelations but this time they brought co-op campaign mode back but only in split screen (no online). Raid Mode is online only so guess you and your friend better like this mode if multiplayer is your thing. This game is nearly as good as the first and some of its extras are superior to the first one.Footnote Resident Evil Gun/Survivor Spin Offs: The Umbrella Chronicles & The Darkside Chronicles were both solid rail shooter games that re-tells parts of resident evil story line solid entertainment and a must have if your a fan of both rail shooters and RE if not check out if your interested. The Survivor Games are a crapfest if you check them out you have been warned best for die hards who like the amusement of really bad games.SUMMARY: If you never played Resident Evil 2 and can look past the dated graphics get it asap. If you can't look past the dated graphics wait for the remake or grab Code Veronica Instead. If you like Action Shooter type games Get Resident Evil 4 asap its been re-released on PS4 and most other home consoles. If you want multiplayer consider RE5 for its co-op campaign or Revelations 2. If you just want a game closer to the feeling of classic RE with multiplayer options Revlations or Revelations 2 are good options. If you ever thought what would happen if they made RE almost B movie like ... try RE6 lol Less

MoreResident Evil 2,The Horror's Back....sort ofFirst of all let me say that my introduction into the Resident Evil series was R.E.4 which is considered by many (so far including myself) to be the pinnacle of the series in spite of a few of its quirks. Also playing the Gamecube version of the original Resident Evil afterwards while not overall as good was still a fantastic game as far as giving me a good, girly scream inducing, scare. Sound design, graphics and sometimes unintentionally funny dialogs were what made these games good. Now it is true that starting with the best of the series unfortunately means that I have nowhere to go but down. However I didn't know that R.E.1 and 4 were the best at the time. That being said you can imagine my mix of astonishment and disappointment when I put in R.E.2 expecting an amazing remake like R.E.1 and get a slightly jazzed up PS1 game on the Gamecube. Now one might think that graphics aren't truly essential for a good horror video game experience and to them I'd say your right, to an extent. However the only (very) slightly upgraded graphics of R.E.2 on the Gamecube (arguably having some of the best graphics of the previous gen consoles) is like expecting to get a five star meal at a high class restaurant and receiving a plate of day old hamburger helper. The graphics make the humans and zombies look robotic the scenery look ugly and unfortunately the creepy atmosphere is diminished to the extent of me needing to turn off the lights and have Freddy Kruger standing next to me to feel scared sometimes. The sound design and surprise zombie attacks still are enough to make me jump out of my visually under-stimulated skin every now and then. The voice acting is still as funny as always due to it being so over the top it could jump over Mount Everest while still trying to be serious. As usual the game-play mechanics are slow and clunky and you never have control of the camera which I suppose is meant to aid in the fear that a super zombie could charge you at any time and you're caught unprepared with dwindling health and amo but after a while it is just irritating. You are also limited to the amount of items you can carry like weapons, health items, keys, amo, or even some piece of a puzzle. Right away this is annoying because if you get to a puzzle that requires an item you stored at the last save point then you need to run all the way back, get it and return to solve the puzzle while making the choice between health items and amo. I suppose that these are all elements that are standard for the series but even so they are annoying. The point I'm trying to get to is that this game is average. That being said if your looking for a game to give you a good scare then you could do worse but if a scare is what you really want then ignore R.E.2 and get something like Silent Hill 2. This is an ok game if you're a fan of the series (which I partially am) and if you are then I give a small recommendation. If you're just looking for any game with zombies then you'd get a better experience with Dead Rising, R.E.1 or heck just watch a George Romero film and play with the remote control. Now let it be known that in trying to write a review for a game I look at it not as a fan but as a level-headed person just looking for a game to play depending on interests so here is a preemptive "I don't care" to all the obsessive fan-boys (or fan-girls) and I will not be changing the score. It got an average score and it should be happy with that.KONAMI Silent Hill 2 ( Playstation 2 ) Less

So naturally when I heard Resident Evil 2, 3 and Code Veronica would be making their way to the Gamecube I had high expectations. However it became clear that these would not be the same great remakes that they were first perceived to be. In fact they weren't remakes at all. Capcom simply ported all three of the games to gamecube discs, and then released them for $40.00 (!) each. That's a steep price considering most of us played this game when it was originally released on PSX back in 1997. The motivation behind these "re-releases" was simply to introduce the entire series of Resident Evil games to the market who may not have played them on the Playstation, but had played the original remake or Resident Evil 0 on Gamecube. While you should not buy this game if you already own the original on the PSX (like I said it's the same EXACT game), if you never played the original RE2, then this is a good chance to get to know this classic.About the game first. This is indeed one of the highlights of the Resident Evil series. Most fans regard this as the best RE game to have ever been released. While I'm still partial to RE 1 myself, I would have to agree on some levels that indeed Resident Evil 2 is the series' shining point. The innovative idea of having the two main characters' stories (Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield for those who haven't played) intertwine with one another was genius. In reality you can play this game 4 different times (2x with each character) and get a somewhat different story line each time. To fully appreciate this game, you have to understand the time it came from. In 1997, graphically this was one of the best games to ever be released on the playstation. The zombies were scarier than they had ever been in the original game, and the environments that Capcom created for the city were genuinely creepy, not to mention introducing new enemies like the licker. The FMV sequences were stunning for the time, and really propelled the game into the position as front runner of the "survival horror" genre. Leon and Claire were rendered perfectly, and their interactions with the surroundings were stellar.Control wise the game is exactly like every other RE game you've ever played. The GC version simply uses the control layout found in the RE remake and RE 0. At first to those who haven't played a RE title before, the controls may seem awkward, but since I'm guessing that most of the people who bought or are going to buy this game had played at least one of the Gamecube RE games, there should be no problems for anyone. The controls do take some time to get used to, but they quickly become second nature, and after you've played at least one RE game, you should instantly pick it back up every time you turn it on.The story found in Resident Evil 2 is a definite highlight. Basically following the incident that happened at the mansion in the first game with Chris and Jill, the T-Virus has been released into Racoon city, and zombies are now walking the streets. Fate brings together (and quickly pulls apart) Leon Kennedy, a rookie police officer from the Racoon City Police Department, and Claire Redfield, the sister of Chris Redfield from the first game, who is determined to find her missing brother. They both understand they must get out of the city alive, and after a car crash at the beginning of the game, they are forced to go their own ways (more will make since if you play the game, I don't want to ruin the story.) From there both pretty much have to do their best to stay alive, while finding other survivors, and making their way out of town. However that's no easy task. Now on the reasons to buy or not to buy. If you never owned the original Resident Evil 2 on PSX, or don't own a playstation 1 or 2, then I guess this is a good game to buy. However the $40.00 price tag is pretty ridiculous, seeing as this game is almost ten years old. If you can find one for a reasonable price (around the $20-25 price range) then I would recommend you get it, especially if you haven't played this game before. It is truly one of the most innovative installments the series has produced thus far, and is a must play for fans of the RE series. The thing that really bugs me about this release is that Capcom had so much that could have been done with this game, but simply chose not to. Ok I understand not reworking the story, or adding new areas and stuff, but at least touch up the graphics, and make stuff faster. Lets be honest, this game looks like it came from the stone age compared to anything that's on the gaming market right now, and it's pretty lame that Capcom didn't at least make an effort to make the game better. Had they have done that, it might have made this purchase necessary. However since they chose not to, this is a skip, especially if you already have it.Still even though Capcom put no effort into this re-release, I still have a hard time giving this game a bad score because I love it so much. This is still one of my favorite games from the series, and was truly a masterpiece when it came out 8 years ago. If you somehow don't own a Playstation one, and you have never played this game (and you can find one for a reasonable price) this is a great buy, because the game is definitely a great piece of entertainment. I can't help but feel a bit of resentment though towards Capcom for doing this, especially to die hard fans like myself who played the original on the Playstation years ago. Basically this game is only a ploy to get those who were new to the series to buy the re-releases. You've been warned. Still a classic game though.4 people found this helpful Less

The seller was thoughtful and sent me a second one for disc two. Finding a 2-disc jewel case should not be hard to find so I don't see an issue.\n\nFor the price of item and how fast I got it. I would say that this a good stop gap while I search for an empty case and manual. This makes it feel more complete than a empty clear jewel case.\n\nWhile not accurate to the original, it captures most of the vibe of the original art. To boot, image quality while lower, is still readable.\n\nSome quality issues with some of the edges, and the inset looks like the image was cut and trimmed in the center.

And thats not counting the secret missions and other bonus goodies.Like Capcom did with Street Fighter Alpha 2 for the Super Nintendo, they did the impossible again here and crammed a 2-CD, graphics-heavy game onto a cartridge. Angel Studios did the job, and used massive data compression along with a 512-megabit cartridge to fit everything in. The result is a game pak that is physically heavier than all the other games in your collection. Whats even cooler are the new features, including a high-res graphics option and 5.1 surround. The only thing that takes a hit are the pre-rendered cutscenes, which are pixelated from compression. But its a small price considering no one expected the game to fit at all.Great for the novelty value, great for the gameplay experience. Resident Evil 2 must be in your N64 collection. Less

Considered by many the best Resident Evil charpter ever, it's finally on the Nintendo GameCube... Let's check out what's it all about:- Graphics: Ok, this is the worse part in here, but it's not that bad. Do you notice any differences in this graphics and PSOne's, talking about this game? Yes, you do.. But it's not a big difference, not a thing to notice at first. In the GameCube version, the characters' and monsters' faces can be seen clearly, unlike in the PSOne versions. Background is the same as PSOne's. So, if you were expecting a graphic evolution like from PSOne's Resident Evil to GameCube's, then I'm sorry.. You'll be disappointed in the graphical part.- Sound: There is not a difference between this version and PSOne's if you're talking about sound. Sometimes the music can be too loud when characters are speaking, so you won't understand wha they're saying. But that's no problem. Just ajust the sound effects and you're done. The soundtrack is scary and classical, voice acting is not bad either.- Fun: It's such a great thing to play this fine Resident Evil charpter with the awesome GameCube controller. It feels like a new game. Even though I've played (and beaten) this game before in the PSOne, I must say that I was still scared of those weird corridors with that scary soundtrack. The game story is really good. Overall, this game is really fun if you're a Resident Evil fan. You have to beat the game twice with every character, because both have 2 scenarios, and you will not know the whole story if you don't finnish the game's four scenaries. Plus there are three mini-games. One of them is called Extreme Battle. In this one, you'll have to take and plant bombs all around the RPD, but time is limited so you have to hurry. This game can be played with many characters, incluiding Chris Redfield. Another one is called Hunk - The 4th Survivor. In this mini-game, you must get to the helicopter room, so they will rescue you (you are Hunk, the only one who survived trying to take the G-Virus from William Birkin), but it's not that easily because they have really few items and lots of zombies. The other mode is almost the same thing, except that the difficulty is extreme and you play as To-Fu (a cheese, yes), and the mini-game is called Tofu- The Survivor. Still, it's far from being my favorite Resident Evil charpter.- Educative: Ok, this game is not educative, not at all.. Lots of blood, violence, body parts falling down zombies, heads cut off and all this kind of thing, that you'll see in nearly every Resident Evil game. But there is no cussing in this game. So, parents... you should only buy this game if your children have played this kind of games before and if they do not get scared easily, unless they'll have nightmares, lots of 'em...The veredict: Resident Evil 2 i very cool game, it's in the Top 10 of the Best PSOne Games Ever. So it can't be bad... If you've played Resident Evil 2 before and you own an authentic copy for another plataform (PSOne, Dreamcast, Nintendo64 or PC), I don't think you should buy this game unless you want the whole series in the GameCube console (which is my case, because I bought the GameCube to play the whole Resident Evil series in it). If you've never played it or if you do not own this game for other plataform, it is a must-buy. One of the best Survival Horror games ever. In this game, if the suspense doesn't kill you... something else will.12 people found this helpful Less

The first major difference you'll notice is that all the games scenarios are contained on one disc instead of two. Second, saving the game only eats up a measly 8k (one block) on your memory card. Third, the frame rate is much faster, going at 60fps. The PSX version feels like it's running at twice a slower frame rate by comparison. Last but not least, the graphic resolution is significantly higher. Everything is very sharp and crisp, whereas the PSX version is blurry and pixelated. I've also played the PC, Nintendo 64 and Dreastcast versions and the GameCube one beats all three visually hands down.So while you are not getting "remade" graphics like the 2002 GameCube version of the first RE, you are indeed getting sharper, cleaned up visuals and smooth frame rates. The best way to explain this is by downloading any of the Wii's N64 Virtual Console games and comparing them to the originals. While they are technically ports, there's a big difference in the graphic presentation. Less

Well it was included in the second version released on Playstation, but that version did not come out here. However this one also includes the awesome unlimited ammo cheat. For those needing constant A ranks to unlock the elusive Tofu, this is fantastic news as the unlimited ammo cheat does not effect your rank like the special weapons do.So if you do not have a PS3 and/or do not want to spend $5.99 on PSN, you can get this version and enjoy what I still feel is the best Resident Evil game in the series. On top of that you can even play the extra game mode not present in any American release of the Playstation version. Finally you can also cheat your way to an easy victory. One person found this helpful Less

But oh well, the only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because it's really fun. There are so many enemies everywhere you go. Although that does desensitize you to enemies after a while and tone down the fear factor, fighting is what I look for in a game. See 0 and the original were scary because you have no idea if there's gonna be an enemy in the next room and what kind it is, and you can count on having at least 3 in almost every room in this game. It's really great. But as I said, no upgrades at all were made to this port. So if you don't have this for another system and you like the RE series maybe you should get it.2 people found this helpful Less

I don’t buy games from Steam or Uplay anymore, cdkeys.com provides a reliable instant solution…every time. Also no hidden costs like G2A (I was almost caught on a purchase @ G2A. You need to pay special attention during checkout on G2A). Cdkeys.com on the other hand has no funny stuff. No check boxes to subscribe or anything like that. What you see is what you get for the price. The Game:This brings me to the game. I normally do not play this sort of game. I have never played any of the Resident Evil games before. Somewhere I saw a review of the game and the overwhelmingly positive rating it received. The game was way too expensive for me until I saw the special on cdkeys.com. I thought I give it a shot and purchased the game. The controls and mechanics is not something I was used to, but was easy enough to adapt too. Off the bat the story captures you. The sound within the games makes it real (creaking doors, thunder, rain, moans and footsteps of the walking dead) and along with the amazing graphics the game comes alive. It’s a survival horror game, so don’t expect things to be easy. You need to collect item elements (that can be combined) and ammo (to name a few), which by the way you need to use wisely. The puzzles in the game is the thing that kept me going, exploring different areas to find end solutions. Intuitive puzzles (such as locks) are usually solved by obtaining a specific piece of information. Other puzzles however are provided by means of an objective that may require smaller puzzle solutions or discovering items needed to solve problems. All along in the midst of the walking dead. Although I have not yet finished the game, I was never frustrated in the sense of not knowing what needed to be done. I have had no technical issues in the game whatsoever. In the reviews I read, it was specified that the game may not be as long as expected. You can however play as a different character and although many of the puzzles may be the same, some content can only be experienced for the other perspective. All in all I am enjoying this game thoroughly. For the record, I am not affiliated with cdkeys.com at all. detailedReviews 95: content: This game is cool, the gameplay is cool, and everything that people state about games are cool, but, DO NOT, AND I MEAN DO NOT, let children 14 and under play this game. It is extremly violent, extremly bloody, and extremly grose. You do nothing but go around and blow up zombies that devour living human being. Not to mention, this game will give you nightmares. I played the one for playstation and it is exactly the same as this: Violent, bloody, gross, and extreamly scary. I have to admit, when I played this at a friend's house, I got nightmares for three nights.

detailedReviews 96: content: Great game but a lazy portA very lazy port of the PS1 game. They could have put in some extra work and made this progressive scan compatible or went the route they did with RE 1 and use the engine from Zero. It's a great game but sadly it looks terrible and its not worth the price on the gamecube unless you are a die hard fan like myself. For people just trying to experience the game I would recommend PSP hacked version or the original PS1 because it will save you money. Overall this is one of my favorite games of all as far as gameplay. The one star deduction is strictly due to a lazy port. Just keep an open mind if you did not grow up playing this game because the tank controls and camera angles can take some getting used to. But that is what makes these games ... detailedReviews 97: content: Of the Resident Evil series, this one (the second installment) really expanded on the first game and solidified what the public knew a survival horror game was. The core gameplay is the same as the first, but enhanced by better graphics, smother controls, larger and deeper story, and better cross story-line intersections between both playable characters. There's even more fun to have replaying, with extra guns and costumes. By far my favorite RE game. Enjoy!
