Difficulty also got changed. While in the original saving was done only by ink ribbons, here we get auto-saves and checkpoints, which in my opinion makes it a great choice and game much easier to enjoy even for casual, because original was extremely punishing. Worry not, though, because if you want classic Resident Evil difficulty, hard difficulty setting gives you limited ink ribbons that you have to find and turns off autosaves. Wonderful compromise if you ask me. That's not the only change, because stages got expanded, some jump scares got changed and you don't have to replay whole game twice to see the true ending, because now second playthrough of each character has new content only, removing the padding of replaying the whole game again. Even with that change, it's a good 15-20 hours long game, which is good in my book!The only small downside of this game are changes in the plot and notes. Notes got much shorter and most of the connections to previous Resident Evil are removed, making this more of a stand-alone game. There are also some changes to the plot itself, one of them big and somewhat controversial, but I won't spoil it and you will have to find out for yourself.To sum it up, great game just got better. It is definitive Resident Evil 2 version of the game, a much better remake than Resident Evil 1 got. If you're into horror or want to experience Resident Evil 2 again, then I strongly recommend it! One of the best remakes to date, making most of the changes for the better and one of the best games! Strong GOTY contender! Less

The game brings back the classic story but also re-envisions a lot of events of the original giving the old-school fans something completely new. A big difference in the remake is the game now being perceived from an over-the-shoulder perspective this time allowing for a more updated, modernised style of playing which makes it a great way for newcomers to start the series.The game is almost flawless in every department from sound design to storytelling so I find it incredibly hard to find flaws which is why, as a long-time fan of Resident Evil I feel confident in saying that this is the perfect route for the franchise to take and have already recommended it both to the newcomers and the veterans of the series. The game is for those looking for great PS1 games. It's also for those interested in how to the Resident Evi 2 Remake and the original are both similar and different. I give Resident Evil 2 (1998) a 10/10. The game does have tank controls and limited saves but you get use to the controls. And If you play your cards right with the limited saves, it shouldn't be a problem. I do reccomend you play on beginner to fully appreciate/enjoy the game. But other than that it's still a great game.
