These headphones sound great. not perfect for mixing, and maybe not perfect for producing because the frequency response isn't as flat or detailed as more expensive headphones, but they do sound amazing for the price. i use them for sketching out song ideas on my gear when i'm away from my desk because they sound excellent and very musical with a perfect amount of bass and treble. they're also very lightweight, fold into a perfect small shape, and are extremely comfortable. you don't even feel like you're wearing anything when these are on. they feel perfect. i've had three pairs in my life. they are my go-to non-mixing headphones and they last a very long time (at least 4-5 years each pair, being thrown into backpacks and worn every single day) for the price. they beat out a lot of the sennheisers and others i've tried that are 3-4 times the price

I've been using these headphones for around 4 years, I bought originally them because they were the cheapest over the ear headphones at Best Buy when I went. They are quite nice, comfortable. I can't speak to their audio quality or the quality of the mic'd version, because I have only used the mic-less ones and I'm not much of an audiophile.But they serve my needs fairly well; this is my third pair. The only reason I've needed to buy new pairs is just my preference; after around 2 years or so, the faux leather covering on the ear pads wears out and starts leaving flakes on my ears after wearing. But I wear them for upwards of 6-7 hours per day, so if you wear yours less than that, they might last longer for you. Well made, cheap, and functional. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for cheap but reliable over the ear headphones.

detailedReviews 3: content: I was shopping for a pair of Koss PortaPro headphones, but not only were these offered for a much better price (on sale for $10), Koss did not have the lightning adapter available that would have enabled me to pair these with my iPhone so, for me, there was no point in buying them. I was able to purchase the Sony pair PLUS a genuine Apple 3.5 mm to lightning adapter for less money than the Koss headphones alone would have cost. In addition to the price, the Sony brand name sold me, because I have never purchase a Sony branded piece of electronic equipment and then been dissatisfied with it. These are supposed to be foldable or collapsible, but I noted in the reviews that several people complained that their pair broke due to the way the pivoting or folding mechanism is constructed. My solution to that? Don't fold them. Keep them in the open position. As regards the sound quality, they sound good enough for the price. Great for listening to YouTube videos through your PC, great for listening to podcasts through your phone while you're out walking the dog. You're not buying a pair of $300-$350 Bose or a Sennheiser rig so adjust your expectations accordingly. I have only had mine for a few weeks, but I am very happy with my purchase. These seem to be as good as other sets I have owned that are two to two and a half times the price.

So, if you are looking for a technical examination of this product I'm not the ideal person to give this. If you just want a straight-forward review then keep reading. To begin, the headphones do work. The audio is good, in fact they sound better than I had expected at this price point. The sound is clear, rich and has a sensible level of bass. They're nicely put together, they fit comfortably over the ears, can be folded flat for storage. Another added bonus is that these have a tangle-free cable. These are decent sounding headphones that are comfortable while watching videos, listening to an audiobook and making video calls. I used these headphones to communicate with my colleagues over on Microsoft Teams when I worked from home and they did a decent job. None of my colleagues complained about the quality of the microphone. For what I'm getting at this price I can't really complain.

As expected with Sony, these sound good to my non-audiophile ears. They get very loud if your volume is at 100%.
Sound leakage is usual for over-hear headphones, so, more leaky than earphones as expected.
These headphones have no mic and no buttons. That’s actually desirable for me, since I sometimes use these with an adapter that doesn’t like headphones with mics.
My only complaint is the ear cushions. They’re pretty thin, and they’re covered in a very thin and wrinkly skin that feels like a plastic bag sticking to my ears.
Extra points to Sony for adding an accessibility feature — there’s a raised dot exclusively above the left earcup so I can tell it apart just by feel. I’m sighted but even I feel for that raised dot instead of reading the ‘L’ and ‘R’ labels.

Now, out of the box, these are nothing all that special. They sound as you'd expect. Inoffensive. However, if you take the time to EQ them, they transform into something else entirely. I'm not kidding when I say these sound every bit as good as the best headphones I've heard. You'll hear all new details in your music. It's like hearing them for the first time again. Honestly, one school year is what I'd hope to get from these at this value. I'm kind of excited they're still going strong! UPDATE: 10/14/20 Bought a 2nd pair for our 3rd grader to use at school. Originally, we bought her the lightweight, on ear styled, Koss brand headphones on here, but she thought they were too tight and uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. Especially because she wears glasses, and now a mask as well. She loved these tho! Said they felt great, and has been using them at school for just over 6weeks with no problems. ORIGINAL: We bought these for my mother in-law to use with her t.v. because she is starting to become hard of hearing. We wanted to check everything out before setting everything up for her, and we found these were made well, had good sound volume and quality, were comfortable for a decent length of time, and overall were good headphones. She wanted to have two different styles. These were the one style that she was able to use in her 3.5mm tablet as well, which was an added bonus. She had hoped both pairs would work in her tablet, but the on ear computer style Panasonic did not fit, but still works for the t.v. set up, which was her main concern. The Panasonic had a smaller pin, so it might have worked in a cell phone. She did not try it, but I will update once she does. I wish we had thought to try ourselves. We purchased everything on Amazon for her setup. This pair fit all of our heads and have a lot of adjustability. They do show which way to put them on by marking the back of the ear pad section with "L" for left "R" right, as shown in my photos. These are decently padded, and if taken care of should last. Overtime, this padded material may start to crack and chip away, but they're pretty good for this value. The Panasonic ones were more lightweight when wearing for long periods, so she's still glad she got both pair. We waited 2mnths to review so she had a chance to really use these and see how they worked, and we told her we'd return them if needed, but she is happy with them. They've really helped with her quality of life. She had stopped watching t.v. for a time because she just couldn't hear it anymore, so I'm happy the volume and sound quality was good enough so she could use them daily. We may order another pair of these for our daughter. I will update if these fail. I hope my pictures help give you an idea of what to expect in person.

I have had these for 1 year and they work as well as the day they did when I took them out of the packaging. They have lasted me from frequent everyday use to workouts at the gym to domestic AND international travel! I love them and highly recommend them!
P.S.: Helpful advice. Since this is NOT cordless, you will want to buy yourself an adapter to connect the aux audio connector on this set of headphones to a lightning adapter (for iPhone) or another kind (for other devices). Not expensive and well worth it. Bonus: You won’t need an adapter on planes that have a aux receiver.

Headphones are the exact same way. It is absurd the way companies such as Bose and others was literally THIRTY times as much money as Sony for their headphones. Read the reviews and you clearly see people say there is no noticeable different in quality between the inexpensive headphones from various manufacturers and the expensive headphones.
I learned this same lesson with electric razors. I first bought an electric razor for $30. I then bought one for $100. It was at that point when I realized the quality was the same. Both of them simply cut hair. The way companies now want $300 for electric razors is absurd. Those cheap ones for $30 are just as good.
It would be nice if Sony charged good prices like this on their TV sets. Now I just buy other brands that cost a lot less and actually offer better performance than Sony.

Quite forgiving of source (phones and lappys work great) but it also resolves a good amount of detail, if provided a better DAC and AMP. Maybe most importantly, it renders high quality and well recorded music incredibly naturally: note/instrument separation, stereo imaging, staging, timbre, balance - everything sounds *right* - quite an impressive feat for any headphones. Buy 1 for yourself, and be impressed, then buy 10 to give away.
Caveats... the build quality *feels* cheap, but the cable and body are hearty, functional, lightweight, and very serviceable. If it breaks in 5 years, I'll just buy another. Also, being on-ear, it leaks a ton of sound into your ear from the environment. Personally, this is something I *wanted* - I already don't enjoy headphones as much as speakers, so further isolating the headphones experience, to me, is worse.

These Sony ZX headphones have excellent sound in all but the highest volume settings. When I turn the sound on my computer's Soundblaster Audigy sound card all the way up and turn the sound all the way up on my program that I'm using (such as Youtube for example), the bass gets to sounding just a little bit 'muddy' or distorted. But, if I back the sound card's volume control just a little (like back down to 90 from a maximum of 100), then they sound fantastic. I tested them out by listening to classical music like Mozart, Chopin and Williams (John Williams' movie themes) and they reproduced everything as well or better than my computer's Soundblaster brand speakers and just as well as my CD player's speakers. I also tested them out by wearing them while playing video games that use my sound card's ability to create a 3D surround sound effect such as Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas. These headphones sounded very good with those games and the surround sound worked quite well with them thanks to the way that the ear pads conform to the shape of your ears a bit, blocking out most background noise so that you really get the full effect of the surround sound. That's not bad performance from a budget pair of headphones.
They are lightweight, but don't feel fragile. I like that you can fold them up quite a bit so that they'll easily fit in a backpack or portable game system carry case like the one I have for my New 3DS XL that has several pouches inside of it. Not quite as small as my earbuds, but will still fit if I don't take all of my game cards.
The only thing I really don't like about them and that keeps them from earning five stars, is that the headband isn't padded. I thought it wouldn't matter since they aren't heavy, but after extended use (like watching a two hour movie for example), the headband gets to be rather uncomfortable. So, I wrapped a piece of felt around the headband and taped it in place with Gorrilla Tape (like Duct Tape only better). That has solved the problem.
I recommend these headphones for when you want a pair of simple headphones that won't be too big of a shame to lose, get broken or stolen since they didn't cost a fortune, but yet still sound decent. They aren't Bose level of quality, but they aren't Bose priced either.

They are perfect for this application, but I found myself using them for Teams calls at work as well and have to keep swapping them back and forth. I happened on another pair today, also 50% off, and picked them up so now I don't have to keep switching. Perhaps I wouldn't use them in the studio for critical mixing, but for everyday use they are great!

Update: I've now used these headphones several times on the treadmill. I like them even more now. When running, you'll occasionally run into a set of headphones with a seriously flimsy cord. As you run, a flimsy cord will bounce and become seriously annoying. These don't do that at all. I love how the solid cord just hangs with minimal movement. Also, the ear pads will get a bit sweaty, but nothing a quick wipe won't rectify. I'll let you know how they hold up for exercise use.

The one downside is the cable: it wouldn't hurt to make it a little thicker, and therefore a little more robust. When one side failed (suspect wires inside cable stretched and eventually separated) I opened it up to have a look, and was surprised to find that inside the cup the cable is simply tied in a knot. This is pretty dodgy; I'd expect a better form of strain management in what is otherwise a quality product. Drop the headphones or accidentally karate chop the "Y" join enough times, and that knotted wiring will probably fail. My unit is a few years old, so hopefully they've modified the design since then. Despite this, I would recommend, and buy again; in fact I'm about to order right now!

I work in front of a computer for hours at a time, and almost always have headphones (and eye glasses) on. I probably have a larger than average head shape too. Every single other pair I have tried ended up making my ears hurt before long, except this one. While the construction quality is decent, I do expect to run through a new pair every couple years, but at this price point, it's really hard to complain. First, I was drawn to the style and color. My options were black or white. I chose white because I usually listen to music while my wife tries to sleep and they are easy to find without a light. I would have enjoyed more color options but they do not make them. The style is surprisingly comfortable with the soft padding over the ears. The great thing is they do conform to your ear and block out the outside noise while also letting very little noise out when the volume on your phone is maxed out. To me the speakers are as clear in comparison to top brands like Bose.
The next best thing is the portability. They are pretty light weight so I sometimes don't even realize they are on my head. They do fold flat so suitcase or backpack travel is simple. While the ear pieces do fold flat to the headband, they do feel a bit on the breakable side. However these are the most portable headphones I have used.
They are made of plastic with I think a vinyl ear cushion so cleaning with a damp (NOT SOAKING) rag will wipe away any dirt.
I didn't give this product 5 stars because they are a bit on the flimsy side and would like a variety of color to choose from but feel 4-4.5 stars is justifiable with the sound, portability, style, comfort, and ease of clean all being there. Overall I wouldn't change my purchase and would honestly pay a little more knowing both the sound and comfort is there.

These are on-ear, meaning that they will not envelop your ear the way a larger headphone would; they sit on top of the ear. The pros: They are super lightweight, headband tension not too strong, and have decent sound quality for the casual listener. I also like the way they fold up.
Cons: They feel cheaply-made, and padding is extremely minimal, so not very comfotable for extended periods of wear. Also, as mentioned, the product description is a bit misleading. Due to this, they also are not great at blocking out background noise. The smaller 30mm drivers also keep these from delivering a lot of bass, but hit mid-tones pretty well.
Bottom Line: These are a pretty great sounding headphone for $20, and would work well for casual listeners. I am happy with the purchase so far. However, build quality is a bit of a concern, so I'd recommend those with active lifestyles to search out something a bit more durable/comfortable.

They fit a bit tight (even over my smallish head) giving your ears a squeezed feeling, so I had to bend out the plastic headband a bit. I prefer the lighter, less bulky style of walkman headphones from the 1990's, but this one does cancel more outside noise and provides better bass. Ear cup cushion material is not foam but faux leather that feels cold on the ears and gathers skin oils. The ear pieces frequently swivel out of place and the cheap plastic hinges holding them will probably fail quickly. Had to place tape around the headband to hold them in place. Some users say these headphones only last a month. We shall see.

1. The noise-cancelling feature was uncomfortable to use. It creates a tingling sensation in my ears when noise cancelling is turned on. I don't know the cause of that, but I gave up using the noise cancelling because it was too uncomfortable, so one of the major features of these headphones was unusable to me.
2. After a little over a year of use, the left ear no longer is emitting sound. Above where the cables for the two phones split, the insulation on the cable to the right ear has split open around the whole circumference of the cable. The right ear phone is still working for now, but I'm not counting on it working for much longer.
4. For my purposes, I would have liked a slightly longer cable.
These are a relatively inexpensive option for noise-cancelling headphones, but since the noise-cancelling feature wasn't usable, I would choose a set of headphones without this feature and buy something cheaper in the future.

I was looking for a pair of cheap headphones that can be thrown on and around anywhere I go that also had some good sound to them, and this Sony MDRZX110 hits all those marks, and then some!
At less than $20, you really can’t go wrong with these puppies, as they sound fantastic, with good deep/rich bass, clear mids, and highs, and can be cranked up high when you need to drown out the world at whatever your task is at hand. Whenever I have a chance to turn the volume maxed on these headphones, they handled it well!
They easily fold up quite flat for easy storage, strong cable, and a good length on the headphone jack for phones w/ thicker cases. I also have a big head and a lot of hair, and the headphones are a comfortable fit for longer wears at a time, usually 2+ hours.
However, there are quite a few cons to these as well. My biggest complaint about these headphones is the plastic used and construction makes them VERY VERY creaky. So creaky that they take away from the music or movie that I’m watching 100% of the time, and that blows! The materials used are also pretty cheap, for example, the earcup foams are already quite soft and thin as it is, after a few months of use, they pretty much flattened out. Along with the materials used around the ear cups, the vinyl is already breaking down and flaking off every time I take them on and off. You can also tell these headphones are not meant to be used for more than 5 years in my opinion, as the entirety of the materials of the headphones will not age well. But hey, they’re less than $20, so use’em and love’em, I do!
SUMMARY:
Great headphones w/ amazing balanced sound, but the materials are cheap AND the creaking from the plastic takes away from the experience of whatever you may be listening to. But they’re less than $20!!! So enjoy them while they’re still intact!

Reviews say the mic is good though I do wonder if I'm holding in my hand the same headset as is here in the majority of reviews. (Same model on the box.) I might distribute the extras to the high school for their zoom interviews if the mic is good enough for that. detailedReviews 98: content: Just got these yesterday, and they are replacing my Philips NL29206AD-4 headphones which are still working but the ear pads have totally fallen apart. At $17 I don't expect much from a set of headphones and true to form these ZX110s deliver on that premise. They are all plastic construction including the adjustable headband, as expected, so probably won't last long. They are comfortable to wear for long periods, and give pretty good sound isolation for medium size , on-ear closed back phones.
As for the sound, they have very prominent bass, and low mids. On the high end they are as dull as a blunt razor. Seriously lacking in the mid highs and highs. They sound very muted to say the least, and vocals sound further back in the mix than expected. I wouldn't recommend these if you listen to classical or jazz, but for EDM, Hip Hop, Rock they are passable. I have MDR7506 Sony headphones and they have a very balanced sound across the frequency spectrum, with tight bass, clear highs and balanced mids, I can't say the same for the ZX110's but I guess they also reflect the price.
For a bit more money I'd go for something like MDR7502 Sony's (around $40) or Audio Technica ATH-M2X ( around $24 ), both of which have much more even frequency responses and are small to medium on-ear phones. The ATH-M2X is half open back, and Sony is closed.
