snippets: this is the Timex expedition field chronograph and a lot of you guys said that I should check this out because I love field watches and this is going to be my new affordable favorite, The Timex weekender chronograph is fifty three dollars and thirty cents and you know you're getting a mineral crystal in like a thirty meter water resistance rating this Timex expedition kind of field Watchi chronograph has a 100 meter water resistance rating yes you are getting a mineral crystal still but a 100 meter water resistance rating with this really cool styling for 4773 so this is actually the much better purchase just you know from that metric right there, but the dial is really where it's at okay let's look at the date window I'm typically not a fan of the four o'clock date it's typically not done well that's not the case with this watch the date wheel is nicely centered in that four o'clock date there's a little border going on there which which kind of adds to that visibility again with that matte black dial and the black date wheel if it didn't have a border it would probably look kind of sloppy kind of difficult to read but they chose to take the time and add a little border there you know those four corners broken up so you can really hone in on that date window very very nice design choice

snippets: and then the hands okay as we can see here they are skeletonized hands that is very very smart and very deliberate on time axes part because this is a chronograph okay what's the point of having a chronograph if you have big broad hands that are quite visible but that cover up the sub dials making the chronograph complication useless I'm looking at you tutor okay tutor with their dumb snowflake hands on their black Bay chronographs it makes the chronograph complication essentially useless because those stupid snowflake hands cover up the sub dials per hours of the day okay this sub $50 Timex is a much better Buy and much more functional 100 meter water resistance rating some really nice visibility a nice neat and tidy border date window and again these skeletonized hands that are still quite visible still quite bold and broad but cut out so look I can see that 8 right there on subtile I can see all the registers nothing is broken up nothing is blurred out or obscured everything is very very visible and it blows my mind that a $47 watch with some change gets you all this visibility all this functionality incredible

snippets: well it turns out timex has read my mind late last year they released a bunch of interesting field watches under the expedition north banner on the surface these seem to essentially be upgraded versions of the cheaper weekender and expedition watches that have been around for some time now, they will notice that all three hands fall disappointingly short of their markers you won't be so disappointed with some of the upgrades that tamex has implemented such as the inclusion of a sapphire crystal and a sturdy coin-edged rear that accommodates a 100 meter water resistance rating double that of the hamilton, however this version doesn't feel quite as bloated as if the fat has been trimmed in all the right areas

snippets: so the next day after the unboxing and bad news on this movement so this multi-function hand is being very erratic and sluggish and not staying in calibration so when I push this bottom Pusher the orange section should line up to the low tide and then show current tide you see it did not line up to low tide now however there is a calibration mode I didn't know this in the earlier in the unboxing but when you pull the crown out the orange section should line up to the noon spot here you see it lined up to six so this is how you recalibrate it but again even after I do this it's very sluggish and erratic and not responding correctly and I've had to calibrate it over and over again and to give you an idea you see we just calibrated it and now if I go to the temperature setting it should go to minus 20 degrees it did not and then show the current temperature now if I go back to tide it should go to low tide setting the orange section of that multi-function hand and you see it did not stop there so it's just doing this over and over again not good and then on the date check it out here so it's the 2 am let's just assume right and I'm going to go all the way through 24 hours and you'll see that date does not change from the seventh so again there's something wrong with this movement altogether not just the multi-function hand there you go just past midnight yeah so this one's going back to Timex I'll leave a update in the description description section when I get that replacement watch in to let you know how it fares and make sure you subscribe if you haven't already that way you can kind of follow along after I get that replacement in down the road I'll do a review on it as well so let me know your comments too you know aside from the issues with the multi-function hand what do you think of this Timex Expedition North and I'll catch you in the next video I'm Whit with so many watches so little time and money

snippets: my big disappointment with this whole watch comes with the handset the handset it it it really bothers me now it doesn't look bad but the minute hand and the second hand are far too short i think they they should reach out to at least the edge of that chapter ring right here uh on in this portion they should at least reach out that far and there it looks like there's like a couple millimeters distance short from that so i am bummed about that i think it looks funny to me, maybe it's a pet peeve of mine but the shortness of that second hand and the minute hand really bothers me and i want to hear your thoughts about that down below if you feel the same way as me and what are your thoughts in general about this timex mechanical field watch this expedition north model 38 millimeters let me know all of your thoughts about this watch down in the comments below
