Previously I was trying to do that on my iPhone and rarely finished a ( newspaper) article because it was just too difficult. With a Bluetooth keyboard it has replaced my seven or eight year old lap top. I've also recently downloaded Tidal for streaming music. Again the big screen is really useful for seeing a whole lot of album or artist choices alongside the current playlist. I joined an online meeting the other day and the large screen was great for seeing everyone.
It is big and that's what I like, but it's also slim and not too heavy, even in a case. I will be taking it with me to meetings, something I couldn't really do with the laptop. Some people might find it unwieldy. My partner is used to his iPad mini and finds my 13" screen rather "jumbo". But I'm delighted with it ☺️

As expected 7 years on from my old iPad Apple have made a few refinements, larger screen, faster response times, longer battery life and shorter charging time to name but a few of the basics. A more sensitive Touch ID makes access quick and easy and movement between apps again is easily done. I'm unlikely to avail myself of all that this new iPad offers but am nevertheless very pleased with my purchase. I am as comfortable using the new iPad as I was my old one, which for an oldie is so reassuring.
PS: also replaced my wife's 10 year old iPad as well, she is equally pleased with the new one apart from the difficulty she has in using Touch ID, she preferred the button to access the iPad and finds her arthritic finger on her left hand (she is right handed) unable to effect access.

13” screen is great. I use it for reading music charts, which is better than my regular iPad.
The touch ID button is no longer part of the screen at the bottom – it Operates with the on off button at the top of the iPad Air (Portrait). I find that it does not work as well and often requests to repeat the touch which also means you have to touch the request on the screen and then the touch ID-So sometimes it’s three steps to get through Touch ID. Annoying! Perhaps I need to reset it.
Apple brags about the M2 chip, but I am not finding that it is any different than my old regular iPad 2021.
Considerably cheaper than the iPad Pro if you only need 128 gigs but want the 13” screen.
A little too early to give it too much praise since I’ve only had it for a few days – yes I rhymed that!

Surfing, watching videos, taking notes and developing photos with Lightroom for iPad works very well. Combined with a (pricey) Magic Keyboard is almost like having a very lightweight laptop.
It misses a few “pro” features that justify the more expensive model. For example, the 120Hz variable refresh rate, and the Face ID unlock. However, are minimal aspects that is possible to ignore.
For heavier duty operations I use the VMWare Horizon client to connect it to a Windows instance if needed, but is a very niche application.
All and all, is a very capable and powerful powerhouse, I highly recommend it as an alternative to a laptop. However, keep in mind that is still quite limited by iPad OS.

Set up from the old to the new was a cinch! The size is brilliant, it is 13" so be aware, larger than most tablets, but it is light! Don't go getting thick chunky covers else you'll lose the benefit of the lighter size. Fast, lightening fast in comparison and if you get this I highly recommend the Pencil Pro to go with. They work so well together. I swapped out my iPad mini and kept the old iPad Pro, I'm now considering getting the new 11" version and swapping out the Pro, though that is a consideration. I did look at getting the Pro 13" but to be honest, when comparing the two, it was a no brainer to save money & buy the Air, the extras on the Pro really aren't for everyday users, imho! So, yes, I highly recommend the Air and if you can, get the size that fits you best. Also think about memory, just how much do you want to store on your machine, also consider how much to store in iCloud! Enjoy.

Improvements over my 5 year old iPad Pro. 2 small things : While I got the blue iPad in the blue box, there is not much blue on the back or edges; looks more like silver with maybe a hint of blue. I did get a blue case with stand. Also, while everything synced with my old iPad including the settings, etc…. the only problem I noticed is that I cannot share web pages using the email icon. Strange because I can do this on my old iPad and my desktop. Not a problem though because the web page address can be forwarded by email or message using the upload icon at the top of the page. So everything OK after a week or so.

The screen is nice and bright and having the extra size means I can enlarge my fonts without cramping the space. Plenty of room to view photos and edit, which is quite important for me. Glad I may the purchase. The additional 2 years of cover you get with JLP is also a worthwhile consideration. I will also advise I took advantage of the Cashback scheme, all very simple to use and payment was quick and efficient.

We purchased with a Verizon chip and that's where the problem started. I was told that I would get this for the sale price at $100 off so I signed up for the Verizon service at purchase. This was not true as I paid the full stated price and I'm not sure why or if it was worth it. They said signing up for Verizon at purchase is free versus an activation fee at another Verizon location but didn't tell me that I did not get the sale price (I purchased multiple items and discovered this when I got home and looked closely at my receipt). I opened a new credit card because they said I would get a couple hundred dollars in rewards but it is now about a month later and this whole process is still up in the air (we now have a new rewards account after they said they would just apply the purchases against our existing account so now we apparently have two). The purchasing process was extremely painful as there was always a need to call someone else over to help the associates that were trying their best to figure it out. Finally, trying to call the store to speak to the associates involved was IMPOSSIBLE. Talking to the associates involved and explaining that what they said isn't what I got would have likely resulted in a more satisfied customer. I could only get to the customer service phone system and those people were useless but good at shuffling me to multiple agents where I needed to repeat my information and story only to never get any kind of helpful assistance. My only recourse was to go to the store and hope the people involved were there. I'll probably cancel my credit card and buy accessories elsewhere.

Images are sharp and battery life is long, However continued use exceeding 10 hours without shutting it off and leaving it in standby mode, will drain the battery faster. We have 3 Ipad Airs and 1 Ipad 4th gen, The airs are faster in processing, and lighter, as well as upgradable to the newest ISO format, These are worth the money as long as you are not spending more than $125 For a gently used one, Due to the new Ipad Air 2 model that is available, for $200 offered by Apple. A used one that is dented or scratched should not be considered for more then $100 USD. Be wary of Bad deals, and keep watching the Feed for better ones. Took 82 hours to find mine, $80 for the first, $88 for the second and $100 for the third. all through Ebay. The last one was in mint condition the other two has minor nicks or a small dent on back. Overall Great for parents, or Teens. I would suggest a Gen 4 for a child under 7,or a Shock proof case, for an Air.

It is NOT BRAND NEW as it was listed. The charger was used as well. Beware, you can get a cheaper refurb from Apple or other retailers. I don’t even know if it’s backed by the one year warranty since the listing is not true.

I paid for an express Delivery to make sure her Birthday Gift arrived on time.
Following two failed deliveries I was made to wait a week to finally be told the item was not now available for delivery ?
I immediately requested a replacement to be sent. This was rejected evan though they had others in stock? They insisted I needed to prove my identity before a refund could be made through an independent security company, which took a further fortnight before my money was refunded.
I immediately reordered through John Lewis at the same price and my daughter happily received her Birthday gift the next day with an added gift of a Two Year Guarantee.
Many Many thanks to John Lewis team for repairing my daughter's Birthday.
