snippets: now by far the biggest benefit to using a wireless microphone is the fact you can now move much further away from the pocket 3 and still get clean audio but you can also attach a windshield to these microphones which will also help cut down on wind noise and if you want to record two people at the same time you you can also connect two DJI mics to the pocket 3 again with either a transmitter and record both, now over the past year the feature I found the most useful on the pocket 3 has to be active track you see I'm generally out here creating these V myself but using active track I can actually turn the pocket 3 into a second camera operator so instead of every shot being static I can just double tap on myself on the screen and now as I move around the pocket 3's gimbal will automatically follow me allowing me to get much more Dynamic clips

snippets: now speaking of talking to the pocket 3 if you are planning on recording audio with it well just like the video quality the audio quality is surprisingly good using the internal microphones and this is what you're hearing right now although these do have two drawbacks firstly there's no protection around them there's no windshields so if you are recording on a Wendy or day you will get some of that wind noise which will lower the audio quality second you have to keep the pocket 3 close to yourself once you start moving away further from it it will no longer be able to pick up your voice so for that reason I highly recommend that you instead use a wireless external microphone with this camera is that has multiple benefits and I would recommend you either use the DJI mic 2 or the smaller and cheaper DJI mic mini because they can connect directly via Bluetooth to the pocket 3 without the need of an additional transmitter you would only need to attach an additional transmitter if you're using a third party microphone system and when you're ready to store the pocket 3 you can actually clip the transmitter to the top of the protective case

snippets: now when it comes to the battery life off the pocket 3 unfortunately the battery is sealed inside so you can't remove or replace it so this means you can't charge lots of additional batteries like you can with most action cameras and then just swap them out which may be an issue for some now the pocket 3 has an official Max re run time of 2 hours and 46 minutes which I think is pretty close to reality I did do a long continuous recording test once and got to around 2 and 1/2 hours before it died Al this very much depends on the camera settings you are using although let's be honest you're probably never going to capture a recording that long with the pocket 3 you will either capture loads of short clips for example we were recently on a trip in room and the pocket 3 was the only camera I took and I just kept it in my pocket all day and then when I seen something I wanted to capture I could bring it out nice and fast capture the clip and then when I was done it could go straight back in my pocket although being honest most of the clips I captured were off scaffolding because a lot of the landmarks are currently being repaired and renovated in Rome that was something I only found out when I got there but I'm not complaining you might also use the pocket 3 to capture slightly longer 20 or 30 clipse if you're vlogging to it now whereas I think 2 and 1/2 hours battery life is okay there's definitely been days where I was capturing those longer 20 30 minute clips that I did run out of par before I was done recording which is frustrating so I absolutely recommend getting the bundle with the extended battery handle is this can give you roughly another 1 hour and 40 minutes of runtime and I really couldn't be without this being honest and the best part is it's also hot swappable so if you're in the middle of a recording and you notice the battery is getting low you can attach it without needing to stop the recording, now when it comes to charging the pocket 3 does have an incredibly almost unbelievably fast charge time allowing you to charge it from 0o to 80% in only 16 minutes so you can charge it back up really quickly

snippets: while the base unit is nice and portable the problem is that that's not how you're going to use it more than likely you're going to attach that battery grip because the battery life on the pocket osmo 3 isn't that great and you've already increased the size by like 50 or 60%, then of course you're going to need a tripod now this is the best tripod I've found and I'll link all these accessories in the description below but most tripods are the small Dy ones and this thing is fragile you don't want to put it down and gets blown over by the wind so I've for this ulzi tripod it's like a it's got metal legs it's got a nice ball head it's telescoping this is the best solution but when you add this to the package now you've doubled the size so essentially you went from the idea of this small pocket camera to essentially having a police baton in your pocket, the cost of this device is not a flat fee whether you're getting the simple the base combo for like five something or the Creator combo for 7 something you still have to account for a bunch of little accessories that can cost you up to $200 $300 an SD card that's like 50 60 bucks a tripod a good one that's like 50 60 bucks a quick release Mount that's like 30 bucks if you want to get alternative mic Solution that's like 80 to 50 bucks a third party protective case that's another 50 60 bucks all those accessories are little add-ons that you're going to pick up either when you buy the camera or when you're trying to get the camera to do what you want it to do eventually and you have to be considerate of that it's not a flat rate cost for this device

snippets: now the second thing I would say is and this is not sponsored in any way I would pick up DJ care refresh that way if you damage the camera instead of having to pay for an entire new one you'll only have a small additional cost to get it replaced it's well worth the investment, now speaking of hand holding the pocket 3 I mentioned in my initial review I actually think it's quite an awkward design to hold you see if you hold it with a decent grip you end up covering the joystick which can lead to you accidentally moving the Gamal during a recording and if you rotate the screen to portrait mode and hold it you end up covering the bottom portion off the screen now the fix I have found for this is to Simply attach the extended battery handle which comes with the Creator combo and this not only has the benefit of making the pocket 3 easier to hold without covering the controls but it will also extend the battery life

snippets: Considering this as a gimbal My Hope was that the camera itself would just flip on its side for True vertical filming sort of like what DJI drones do specifically the mavic 3 Pro and the mavic 4 mini instead the pocket crops the sides nevertheless you still get a decently wide field of view and footage looks good but not all modes work in vertical so there's no dedicated night mode which that's okay but there's also no 120 frames per second and it is limited to 3K resolution kind of bummed out about those two

snippets: now one of the last pros of the pocket 3 has to be the fact you can control it remotely with your smartphone now being completely honest when I first got this camera I thought yeah that's that's pretty cool but it's not something I'm ever going to use but over the past year it's actually turned out to be one of the features I have used most and the reason for that is it allows you to remotely adjust the framing by moving the gimbal change the camera settings start an active track start or stop a recording and more and it means if I am further back away from the pocket 3 I don't need to keep coming back up to it to make adjustments and when you're trying to frame a shot where you're standing further back you literally can't see the pocket 3 screen it's so small so you don't know if you are centered or not so to be able to preview and make adjustments with the smartphone app is invaluable, now although the protective cover is fantastic I have noticed when using it you do need to be very careful there's these two rges on the inside that the pocket 3 screen has to sit between for it to be able to fet flush and you don't want to end up accidentally putting the camera in off cender which trust me is easy to do and have the screen resting on top of one of those rges when you press down on it as this could cause the screen to break and ultimately this brings me on to the biggest con of the pocket 3 and that's its durability this is a delicate little camera it's fragile there's no two ways around it you've got that mechanical gimbal sitting on the top and if you drop it on like an action camera where you might get away with a few scrapes and scratches chances are you will damage or break the pocket 3 over the past year I've actually broken two I had one fall off a tripod damaging the screen the second one I dropped and chipped the camera lay which is also not replaceable so if you do damage the camera lens you need to replace the entire pocket 3 so for that reason I would say if you want to use this camera indoors to Vlog capture holidays or even to create content perfect but if you want to use it to capture action maybe mining Biking For example this is not the camera for you as you'll just be stressing the entire time worrying about it and ultimately you'll have to be so cautious not to damage it
