I wish there would be a screen to show the inputs and outputs and PCM and DSD strengths and something like dial knob so as to interact with it. Once connected properly it performs its job deligently and silently. Through out the I2s configuration please diminish the volume levels of Streamer, pre Amp and Amp to the minimum otherwise it may give horrible noise which can damage your ears and speaker elements.

What's impressive is the way the R25a's convey the emotional essence of music. They capture the subtleties of tone and timbre, the nuances of phrasing and dynamics, in a way that's both captivating and moving.
The midrange is what got me grinning ear to ear - vocals are presented with uncanny realism, with every subtlety of expression and emotion conveyed with precision. The treble is extended and airy, with a sweetness that's never fatiguing.
And then there's the bass. The R25a's can produce bass notes that not only extend low but are also incredibly detailed, textured, and taut. What surprises me about the R25a's bass is its ability to convey the subtleties of rhythm and timing. First off, the design deserves praise. These speakers are compact, elegant, and effortlessly blend into most spaces. They feel premium, and the attention to detail shows—whether you choose the minimalist white or the bold red, they look more like art than gear.
Setup was refreshingly simple. KEF's app isn’t perfect, but it’s functional enough. Once you get past the initial pairing and firmware updates, everything runs smoothly. I use them wirelessly most of the time, and they’ve held a stable connection even in a cluttered network environment.
Now the sound—which is where these really shine. For their size, the LSX II delivers a shockingly large and rich soundstage. Vocals are vivid, mids are clear, and the imaging is precise, especially at moderate volumes. KEF's Uni-Q driver really helps with this sense of coherence. They don't hit sub-bass levels like a full setup, but the low end is present and controlled. Add a sub if you're into heavy bass, but for most genres, these are more than satisfying on their own.
However, they’re not perfect. At higher volumes, especially in untreated rooms, they can get a little sharp in the treble—especially with brighter recordings. It’s not harsh, but noticeable. And while streaming options are plentiful (AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Roon Ready, etc.), the KEF app itself still feels a bit clunky and could use refinement.
Also worth noting: these aren’t for bassheads or those looking for “fun” tuning. The LSX II is about balance and accuracy, not thump or flash. Some may find them a little “polite” or neutral—but for others, that’s exactly what makes them special.
In short, the KEF LSX II feels like a thoughtful, well-crafted product for those who value detail, design, and effortless hi-fi in a small package. They aren’t cheap, but they deliver real value if what you want is honest, clear sound that fits beautifully into your living space.
Would I recommend them? Yes—but with realistic expectations. They’re not party speakers, nor substitutes for a full separates system. But for daily listening, lo-fi, or acoustic mornings—they’re absolutely a joy to live with.
