Tolede is the perfect ānudey pinkā, MLBB colour for someone who needs pink/colour in their everyday lipsticks. I wore this on my wedding day. The formula is a nice everyday satin formula. Itās a āgo toā lip colour perfect for work.
Dolce vita is another MLBB colour. Itās very sheer so kind of looks like balm, gloss with a bit of pigment. Literally MLBB. I donāt reach for it as much these days but I keep it in my handbag for when I want a lippy to apply on the go without a mirror.
Niagara is a GORGEOUS coral shade. Brightens my face so well. Hope they never discontinue this. Iāve had it for about 10 years and recently rediscovered it. Perfect for someone with colouring like me because it really brings life to your face but itās not too saturated like some corals can be. It can be worn in a muted way with only a swipe or two. This formula is a satin as well I believe - nice everyday formula easy to work with.

My long-time favourite "my Lips but better" (a different brand) lipstick was discontinued earlier this year and I have spent months and a fortune trying to find a replacement. This sheer Dolce Vita formulation is even better than my previous belov?Ā®d MLBB.
The colour is a perfect MLBB shade for those of us who have quite naturally rosy lips - so many so-called MLBB shades are just too pale for me. The fact that it's sheer adds to the softness, the naturalness, of the lipstick.
The formulation is also wonderfully moisturising, as good as a balm in this respect and, for a sheer lipstick it it stays relatively well on the lips too.
This is perfect in every way, my only concern is that Nars will stop making it in a few months' time - Oh please don't, Nars!! I dont want to have to go through all that heartbreak and searching again...
I loved this lipstick so much that I also bought the matte velvet lip pencil in Dolce Vita, but I will say that it seems to be a very different colour on me; the sheer lipstick is plummy/rosy, but the pencil comes across as a slightly warmer, more brick-like colour on me.

Dolce Vita is the shade in the photo I added. Gipsy is also another "my lips but better" color with more of a flush, a very wearable reddish berry color. Lasting-power wise, they are high-average for a cream bullet lipstick. They transfer, and if you eat you will probably have to reapply, but they will wear off gracefully without leaving a ring around your mouth at the end of the day or turning into a mess around your mouth if you eat or drink. The mattes last better than the shimmery shades. I'm sad that NARS is no longer cruelty-free, because finding a good dupe for Dolce Vita has been a challenge.

The only colors that havenāt worked for me (fair-skinned Caucasian, blue eyes, dark blonde) are those few that skew too orange or coral. Although I usually go for a deep, saturated color (I like deep reds), Dolce Vita is a good everyday sheer for most complexions. Itās the exact color of my lips. I wear it when doing something where I donāt want to look made-up. Hiking or other outdoor sports.
NARS lippies have a light, non-greasy texture and good longevity. They do wear off, but do so evenly. You donāt end up with a ring around your lips if you havenāt touched them up in a while, and they donāt bleed. The lipstick has no taste or fragrance that I can discern (thankfully). It doesnāt end up on your teeth. Itās a great product at a mid-range price.

Christina is a warm tone without being a nude/ beige, and it has punch without being red, orange or pink. The formula is a satin, feels creamy, and the color stays true for a lot longer than many other brands I've tried. I do use a lip primer almost all the time, I find it fills in the lines and helps the lipstick go on more smoothly. I paired this color with a MAC lipliner in Chicory and wow, what a perfect combination. And because of the slight raspberry undertone, I can wear this color with any red clothing too. I first bought this in Heat Wave, then bought a tube of Jungle Red shortly thereafter, and I have an order with Funny Face on the way. I absolutely love these colors and how the lipstick applies and wears. I feel like I'm now a Nars lipstick convert, and can easily see myself buying more colors in the future, and I especially love that there's a fairly large and varied collection of matte colors.
The color applies easily both directly out of the tube and onto a lip brush. Sometimes I will wear Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip Cheek Stain all over my lips to act as a lipstain and lip pencil and to prolong the color, especially after eating. I use Flamenco for Jungle Red and Jive for Heat Wave. I've also used a drugstore-brand lip pencil, which also works OK. However, Nars lipstick seems to wear fairly well even without a lip pencil or other primer or color extender. I usually only touch up the color after eating lunch, barring any important meetings. I feel confident in wearing these colors to work, although I do work in a casual environment, so others may find the boldness isn't acceptable at their workplaces.
I love how highly pigmented the colors are. When I buy lipstick, especially reds, I look for a matte finish, which I think Nars has. Also, they last a long time and aren't drying. When I do reapply, it's mostly to just touch up the color, and I don't find you need to completely start from scratch just because you ate a granola bar.
The color transfer is also minimal. I've never found a lipstick to be truly "kiss proof" (or lunch proof), despite what may be claimed, but this comes close. If blotting my lips with a napkin or looking at my drink' straw, I will find some color has rubbed off, but it's not excessive.
I also have dry lips, especially in the winter, and although the lipstick will settle into cracks more readily then, if I apply a light coat of lip balm after the lipstain but before the Nars lipstick, I think it works pretty well in preventing this issue while also not causing the lipstick to feather or rub off more quickly.
The two big holdups people may have about Nars lipstick is the price and the amount of product. For me, I've tried a fair number of matte lipsticks, and for a long time I put a $20 spending limit on myselfāhow could I justify more? But other lipsticks got returned or regulated to the back of the makeup drawer, and I finally splurged for Nars. I think it's worth it. It's not cheap, but cheaper brands didn't have the features I wanted, specifically a matte finish and longevity. I've also seen some complaints about the amount of product (0.12 oz.). I have a 0.15 oz. lipstick that I've literally been using for a decade, once including daily application for a long time, and I'm nowhere near to finishing it. I've never known a regular person to use up an entire tube of lipstick. Even with daily use, it would take forever. If applying straight from the tube, you really only need one full swipe of this Nars lipstick, plus a few touch ups to get the color everywhere, and if you use a lipbrush, you'll have even more control on the amount of lipstick used. 0.12 oz. may not seem like a lot for $24, but I think it's worth it.
My only real complaintāalthough slight and superficialāis the removable cap seems flimsy. I have to be sure to set it down while applying, instead of just clutching it in my hand, lest I accidentally squeeze it and crack it. I'm also a bit more afraid that dropping the lipstick will crack the cap. But ... less plastic used is less plastic production and waste, so that's good I guess.

In most cases, I won't buy more than one color from each "line" of lip products. But, I had to make an exception for these. It's kind of ridiculous, but have 6 of these! Bridgette, Catherine, and Jane are some of the most unique, yet wearable colors I've seen. Geraldine and Annabella are easy colors to find anywhere, but I love this formula and wanted some bold classic colors. I also have Bette and I had an exceptionally hard time choosing between all the similar deep berry/red shades that are available. I used to have Juliette, but for some strange reason there is a TON of sparkle in that one so I ended up returning it. This is a really pricey lip product, but it's totally worth it. They are extremely buttery, creamy and pigmented. You only need one swipe, which is probably why the lipstick tube is so short. Don't keep going over your lips or else it may look thick and cakey. The packaging is so luxurious and I love the magnetic closure. It does not get dirty like the blushes do. These lipsticks are so moisturizing, yet stay on my lips forever. They never apply poorly and it's not a high maitenence product that requires a lot of exfoliating and lip balms prior to putting it on. This definitely my holy grail lipstick and I plan on buying more! Also, as someone else noted, some of these colors tend to be extremely similar to one another. You definitely don't need the whole range.

Keep in mind that I only got it about a month or two ago and only used these colors less than 5 times each and I already want to toss these out. This is extremely disappointing since no similar products I've purchased from other brands have had issues like this, especially not at this price point. I love these colors and the formula and would've purchased backups but that's unfortunately not the case. Save your hard-earned money and put it somewhere else because you don't need to learn an expensive lesson like I did.

More expensive than some lipsticks but higher quality for sure. This is definitely a great Fall color (or year round color for me, haha). LOVE the color and the formula. It has great staying power without making my lips too dry.
However, the bullet kept coming loose and I had to keep pushing it back in. A few days ago I reached for it to apply before getting out of my car for work and the entire lipstick flew out onto the floor of my car. It was not able to be saved. I only had it for a few months.
I reordered and my new one was just delivered. The top of the lipstick is smooshed and the bullet is completely loose! I'm so disappointed that the first one wasn't a fluke. In reading reviews this seems to be a consistent issue and I'm wondering why NARS hasn't addressed this defect in manufacturing with so many reports of this happening. It's not an inexpensive lipstick and NARS is a high end brand...where are the high end standards?
I tried this color in the Air Matte formula and the color isn't as vibrant and the staying power is lackluster, so I'm super disappointed my new lipstick is already damaged. My rating is based on the color and formula alone. My rating for packaging is 0 stars.

The original lipstick had the following qualities: totally matte, firm texture, faint bergamot scented, bold color like a poppy blossom. This does not have a scent which is fine, but that sort of subtracts the luxe factor. It also has the slightest bit of sheen to it once applied. It also seems to have more give and "slip." The original did not tug or drag, but you could feel that every particle was applying the most highly pigmented lipcolor in each stroke. I felt that you could finish your lips in 2 swipes of application. The color somehow seems to be neon rather than a classic red-orange. Why do companies feel the need to "improve" things and wind up ruining them?

I gently push it down to stick it firmly to the base before I use it. The lipstick has a much more waxy quality than the original and does not glide well. I think the formula has changed significantly, BUT THE COLOR IS TRUE. I buy this version only because I can't find a close match to this color in any other brand. Many people have made the same complaints. NARS please listen to your loyal customers and address these concerns. You have a great brand, don't burn your faithful fans.

This month one of the inclusions for NARS 25 year celebration was a Rosecliff lipstick. Ironically the Beauty Loop box Level 2 had my favourite product in it, a Tatcha Dewy moisturiser. Unfortunately the nude lip is really not my thing, it makes my pale face look completely washed out and I always think if ever a lipstick is included in something it should be bold and something that suits a lot of skin tones like a bold red or bold pink. I really appreciate the lovely things I get in a beauty loop box but this one was a miss I'm sad to say. The lipstick is full sized, and has a creamy formula, but, as I said, it makes me look unwell the colour is absolutely not a universal nude as it is touted. A universal nude usually has a touch of pink in it, this is a light brown nude. I'll be finding a friend that's more nude lip 90s oriented to give this to.

First; the colour itself is beautiful! Itās a pale red with a slightly purple tone. I love bright bold lips most days (unless I have bold eyes) and Afghan Red is a great colour for making me look put together when I have not made much of an effort. Itās a seriously beautiful, unique colour.
Unfortunately, it just doesnāt last on me. It only wears around an hour or so before vanishing. I am not sure if this is because I am not used to the formula/satin lipsticks (95% of my lipstick is matte) or just this particular colour and formula doesnāt agree with me!
So, short versionā¦. Love Nars in general, love the colour but just doesnāt wear well on me.

But the lipstick is rather soft, and the packaging really lightweight.
My first tube was wobbly and eventually broke off the base even when only twisting it just enough to use. When you do this, the lipstick then gets lines on it from being to soft and leaning against the edge of the packaging, it also moves when applying it.
I had this one replaced, but was disappointed only to see it happen again.
