Computer vision relies on video and digital images that the camera has captured, and is a field of artificial intelligence that enables the device to interpret images (similar to a human eye) and to know what it is seeing. The video is quite easy to install and can be completely up and running in a matter of minutes. It does not have to be hardwired, but if you do wire it to existing doorbell wiring, in most cases, it will work seamlessly with your in-home chime assembly. The material used in manufacturing this Blink model is more weatherproof and durable than that used in previous Blink products.
The Blink Video Doorbell comes with a 30-day subscription that includes use of all features it has to offer, like uploading to the cloud, CV person detection, etc. A subscription past the free trial is not required for the doorbell to continue to operate, but it will not be able to save video clips and provide the extra features that it is capable of without one. It is helpful in today’s world, and also safer, to see who and what is at your door before opening the door to your home. The Blink can also record theft and other crimes that may occur within its field of view. I would give this product 5 stars, but I think it could be a bit more stylish in design, so in my honest review, I am just giving it 4 stars. Despite the lack of visual design quality, it does work very well.

I believe that for about $10 less you can get the version without the Sync Module if you happen to already have one. This module (or another sync module, purchased separately, see more later) is necessary in order for this video doorbell to work. It actually works as a hub for up to 10 blink cameras (including this doorbell).
The setup for this Video Doorbell was rather easy and quick after downloading/installing the Blink Home app (either Android or IOS) and setting up an account. It basically leads you through the process step by step - there is no confusion. When you're done with that process, your doorbell will be synced to the Module. The module will need to stay connected to power via USB-C in order for the doorbell to work. Blink provides a power adapter with this, but I have mine connected to my laptop and it works just fine so long as the power is on - it even works while the laptop is asleep. The process did setup a 30 day free trial of the Blink Subscription service which I did not request it to do. Blink claims a subscription isn't necessary to setup the account, but it did it automatically. In doing research, a subscription isn't necessary to get a live view of who is at your door or for it to ring but you cannot record and save any video without it or you would need another piece of Blink hardware - a separate Sync Module, and depending which module you purchase, you would also need to purchase a USB drive or a Micro SD card to save the recorded video locally. When you have a subscription, the video is recorded to the cloud with clips being deleted every 60 days. For me, the recording and saving of video is absolutely necessary. The cost does not seem prohibitive, but it might be for some.
This doorbell does provide a nice, clear view of the person(s) at the door. I can pretty much see everything I need to at the door - I feel that the field of view is good with this. I can see packages the couriers deliver and I can see small children as well as I see adults, even at night due to the infrared night vision. The quality of the video is full HD I believe, which is good, but not great.
This doorbell requires the use of 3 AA Lithium non-rechargeable batteries (included). Lithium batteries are designed for a longer life-span and better performance, but they are generally more expensive than normal alkaline batteries. Blink states that the batteries should be good for up to 2 years, depending on how you setup your doorbell for notifications and recordings. You may also do a wired setup with this, but that does not provide power, it would only connect to your in-home chime, if you have one. Otherwise, the doorbell chimes at the doorbell or through your app. This actually works quite well via Alexa, especially if you have one with video. It can show you who is at the door and you can speak to them as well via 2 way audio, or, you can do that via the app on your phone. There is a lot of background noise and there is a delay when anyone speaks. You will also receive an alert on your phone, if you set that up and that will tell you if someone/something is at your door. It will not tell you if it is a person at your door if you do not have a subscription, it will just alert you to motion and then it will not record, but it will show you a live view. You are also able to set up privacy zones where it will not record. This could be used to cut off the view at the street in order to not record people or vehicles passing by, for example.
Overall, this is a fine video doorbell. It works well and does what it is supposed to do. It does provide an extra sense of security knowing who is at the door before me or my family approaches it. There are sufficient settings available in the app as far as "ding"tones, schedules, notifications, etc. to be able to personalize its use for just about anyone's needs. I would prefer 4K quality, but that would be a different video doorbell. I would certainly recommend this video doorbell to anyone in the market for one.

I used the blink gen 1 in the past along with others but I really didn't like it because the field of view was really kind of bad which was ultimately a deal breaker for me. When I looked more into it I saw there was some 3rd party "mounts" out there that put an angle on them to face down but then you couldn't see people.
Regardless it was bad but that's ALL resolved with the new wider view and when I waste a whole paragraph talking about it it's because you can not only see a 7ft tall man head to toe but also a package at my door and my dog FINALLY!
It has all the bells and whistles as the gen 1 but 3 batteries this time, only slightly bigger unit itself, better battery life (up to 2 years with included lithium batteries), higher 1440p resolution, faster reaction time and going live, uses the same mounting hole spacing but different backplate since its larger.
The one ding I have to say took a star away for me was that the new sync module core it comes with doesn't have any usb port or sd car slot for any local recordings anymore. That annoyed me as that's how I liked to use mine in the past BUT I found that you can actually pair an older sync module 2 and still retain that ability (at least for now).
It's a fairly total package for upgrade or as your first video doorbell nothing bad in use at all works perfectly.

I have got the previous gen of this. I had to purchase a local Sync module. This one is including the module in the package. That's a big plus but the one included doesn't support local storage.
I didn't install it yet (waiting to get some hardware items) but I have tested out of the box. It is indeed better clarity than the older generation but still have the same (almost) video latency. There is that small delay from when the motion is detected and when it is arriving at the live feed (available to view). I believe being wireless is causing this issue.
Setting it up was very easy and it added nicely to my Blink equipment family. No issues with that. The ring sound is good (when somebody push the button) and it also integrates well with Alexa.
Motion detection is ok. Person detection would require subscription.
With powered by batteries, this Video Doorbell is completely wire free. Batteries should last more than 1 year if used properly. I've the older gen that passed the 1 year mark already. Blink promises 2 years battery life for this one.
Over all, it is an upgrade. Very useful to have and kind of essential. I will swap it with my old Doorbell camera and see how it will be going.
I recommend you getting any Doorbell camera brand but this Blink is really the easiest one I've used so far.

detailedReviews 7: content: The Blink video doorbell is my second camera enabled smart doorbell, but my first from this brand. Since we already use mostly Amazon devices, integrating the Blink video doorbell into our smart home ecosphere was easy and straightforward. The Blink app needs to be downloaded and installed to a mobile device in order to set up both the doorbell and the included Sync module 2. In the app, instructions for physical installation are simple to follow with animated graphics and clear instructions. The doorbell comes with an angled wedge plate if you need to change the direction the camera faces, and you can customize the experience to your exact setup via the prompts that appear. For example, we wanted to use this doorbell with our existing doorbell chime and wiring, which we were able to do by first confirming compatibility of our doorbell transformer, then removing our manual doorbell button and connecting the Blink’s mounting plate to the wires.
Once we attached the Blink doorbell to the mounting plate, it had permanent power, as well as the two AA 1.5V Lithium batteries (included) in the housing as backup power. Note that it doesn’t have an internal rechargeable battery, and Blink recommends against using any type of rechargeable battery or even Alkaline batteries with the device. However, when used with a Sync module, the batteries are supposed to last up to 2 years (w/avg use 70 seconds per day), even without being permanently wired. When the batteries need changing, the release tool makes it easy to separate the camera from the mounting plate to do so.
The only part of the setup that didn’t work perfectly for me was setting up the “length of ring” for our electronic chime, which plays a number of different melodies that we select on the chime box. Although we were able to set the length of the chime in 0.5 second intervals, we still got a weird clipped beep after the conclusion of the chime melody every time, no matter what length was set. This likely has to do with the fact that our chime box says that a “diode” is required for installation, which we had installed on the manual doorbell button and is usually what allows the chime to play through exactly once, but installing the diode with the Blink video doorbell is not possible, and the app setting is the equivalent but imperfect workaround.
In the Blink app, you can access the live view of the camera, change its settings, and review past recordings. I like that you can adjust the camera’s motion sensitivity, define activity/privacy zones, and customize which notifications the app sends you, to reduce nuisance pop-ups. One thing about the motion detection feature is that it is very basic and doesn’t distinguish between a person, package, animal, or car. Also, motion detection recording and announcements are only active if the device is in the “armed” state, but doorbell presses are always recorded regardless if it is armed or not. You can also set the camera to automatically save the footage any time you access ‘Live’ view. With photo capture enabled, the camera takes one photo every hour and saves it as a collection of photos in the Clip Roll.
Linking the Blink app to Alexa lets you use voice commands to display the camera feed to and play announcements through your Echo devices. However, since you cannot view the Blink camera’s video feed in the Alexa smartphone or PC app, you must have an Echo show or use the Blink app for remote monitoring. Once we had our Blink and Amazon accounts linked, we were able to enable voice announcements and select a chime sound to play through all the Echo speakers in our home when the doorbell button is pressed, in addition to our wired chime and notifications from the Blink app. It also plays a chime through the doorbell's built-in speaker for the person who pressed it, to let them know that it actually did something.
We signed up for the Blink monthly subscription Plus plan (free for the first 30 days), which gives us unlimited live view recording and photo capture and cloud storage/access to recorded footage from the doorbell camera within the previous 60 days. If you don’t want to have a monthly cloud subscription, the Sync 2 module allows you to store video and photos locally to a USB thumb drive plugged directly into the Sync 2 module (from 1 GB up to 256 GB) and can connect to up to 10 different Blink cameras. Just note that the recordings do not automatically loop and write over the oldest footage, and you must disconnect and download or delete the files when the drive is full. With a monthly subscription, the module backs up the footage from the cloud once per day rather than immediately saving them to the thumb drive.
The video footage from the camera is 1080p HD (1920x1080) when set to “best quality” and very crisp and clear but somewhat distorted with a fisheye effect, due to the 135° horizontal, 80° vertical, wide-angle field of view. When a person is standing at your door (~6 ft tall), you should be able to see them from the waist up when they are standing about 2 feet away from the camera. At night, the night vision infrared footage is ok for illuminating people in front of the doorbell, but if you have a light source in the background, the IR will wash out that area even when set to low IR Intensity; for example, we have LED string lights in a tree on our patio about 8 feet from the camera that aren’t even that bright but in the nighttime video they look like a floodlight. The sound quality from the doorbell is fine, and I didn’t have any trouble hearing or understanding conversation via the app to the doorbell and vice versa, though the audio picked up in the video recording from the doorbell’s mic tends to have a lot of digital compression noise. The speaker volume on the doorbell is loud and clear and is adjustable as well.
Overall, I think the video and audio quality of the Blink doorbell camera is decent, and the doorbell integrates easily with other Amazon Alexa smart devices. We get notifications on our phones, smart speakers, and can still use our existing door chime, albeit with a slight quirk. The setup and installation was quick and simple, and it can be used both wired with permanent power or wirelessly with long lasting battery life. The ability to store video files locally with the Sync module 2 is great if you don’t want a monthly subscription or just want to have automatic backups.

USE: It works very similarly to the original Video Doorbell, but has a much larger viewing angle, meaning you can see also see the ground/packages in front of your door.
USABILITY: If you’re accustomed to Blink Cameras, this works exactly the same way…which is to say, very good.
OVERALL: It works well and is clear when subjects are closer to the camera. It’s less clear when zooming in at distant objects. Compared to its competitors, the battery life is amazing. It does exactly what you want and has low maintenance to do it.
REVIEW:
First, when connecting the Blink Cameras, you first need to sign into the Blink App, on the top part of the screen, press the + button, First choose Sync Module (then Video Doorbell), Scan the QR Code on the back of the Sync Module (then Video Doorbell), and follow the directions - which will have you adding your home WiFi, it will update the firmware settings, and then will be connected. Next, you need to physically install it at your door. This is simple and they now include a corner mount if you need. I used a drill, but you really only need a Philips head screwdriver. You can set it up hardwired or with the batteries. I use it with the batteries and need to replace them once every 1.5-2.0 years (per the original Blink Video Doorbell camera). The maintenance is super simple and it is easy to swap out batteries. They recommend Energizer Lithium batteries, so those are what I use. They can handle temperature extremes very well. I live in the Northeast and the temperatures can fluctuate year round from just below 0° to above 100° F.
The batteries are supposed to last the same amount of time (2 years). The resolution has increased from 1080° to 1440°, meaning cleaner and clearer pictures/video. I would agree with the real world use. The new version camera now projects at 150° versus 135° for the original.
The water resistance has improved. It’s interesting that the camera doesn’t totally fit flush with the wall mount. I contacted Blink about it and they mentioned the water resistance isn’t connected with the backing like it used to be…the water resistance is mainly built directly into the camera (another improvement).
Overall, it’s still my pick for my front doorbell camera system. Others I have tried have been good, but battery life has always been an issue…not with the Blink, though. If you’re using batteries and not hardwiring, there really isn’t another option that I have found to be better…yet. :)

While the camera is on the larger size it does have its perks including a wider angle lens and the room for 3 AA batteries rather than 2. Under the correct settings, the included blink module, lithium ion batteries, and normal outdoor temperatures, blink advertises 2 years of battery life. On my existing blink camera I typically replace the 2 AA lithium batteries on my Backdoor twice a year and my front door cam once a year. Since my rear camera is more active I replace the camera with the new version.
Installation for me was easy. I was replacing an existing Blink doorbell on my Backdoor which is connected to my wired doorbell system. My front door also has a blink doorbell and is wired. Our Backdoor is used more often as our garage and main door access is from the rear. It took me about 15 minutes to swap out the camera and check. The update took about another 5-10 minutes. One thing that I value with this doorbell over its previous generation is the mount. The wires directly connect to the mount rather than the camera so when ai go to replace the batteries I will just pop the camera off the mount, replace the batteries and have no interference with wires. There are two metal ports/connectors that touch when the camera is touching the mount. Prior, I had to always be careful as the wires were directly connected to the camera and in the colder months or really any time I replaced the batteries I always had to make sure not to disconnect or brake a wire. Now I don’t have to mess with anything unless I remove the mount completely from my wall.
The camera provides head to toe angles as mentioned on the packaging. I have great viewing angles and the image is also larger on my Home Screen. I also noticed the camera provides frequent screen shots on my homepage just so you can keep an extra tab on what’s going on. The camera is crisp and clear, I would say the farther something or person is out the harder it is to identify. Anything within 25 - 50 feet from the camera is crisp. The resolution is 1440x1440 and is plenty for viewing and recording needs.
My major disappointment is the updated blink module which doesn’t allow you to add additional external storage so you don’t need a subscription. This version of the module forces you to buy their subscription while my old and other current model modules I own allow for external physical storage. Not sure why they didn’t provide a USB A, C or micro sd card port on this version of the model while the other models they offer do. If you have another module you don’t need to use this one for it to work on your existing system and avoid the subscription.

detailedReviews 10: content: Unfortunately, as technology continues to expand, cost change and we start to see more and more add-ons that fall into subscriptions just to own a product. Looking at other doorbells in this price range, I noticed to get some of the useful features, you will have to go through a subscription. That is no different with this Blink doorbell, but one of the major features you have a workaround if blink is already integrated into your home.
I'll get right to it, that feature is recording video. While they do offer an option through a subscription to record, if you have a blink module, not the one included, you can record your footage directly to an SD card or to a PC. If you're using the USBC module. That alone is worth the price of admission. I quickly become irritated when companies take away which should be basic and put it behind a paywall. Here, you can get a better version of this feature, but at least the basic is available without having to commit to a subscription.
In terms of video quality, it does everything it needs to do and it's clear enough for my needs. I can see just about anyone or anything that is in range of this doorbell with its wide view. The notifications through the app are fairly fast reaching me within seconds of someone entering the field of view. Where I live, using night view isn't really an issue is because we have ample lighting all throughout the night. So unfortunately I have nothing to gauge there for testing.
The two-way communication is fine. Don't expect crystal clear Sennheiser quality. You will get a typical loop with slight feedback, but the clarity is enough to make sure every word is heard without being dropped. It may be muddled at times, but as mentioned, it's similar to a higher end walkie-talkie. I have no negatives there.
The app itself, if you're used to any other blink products, is fairly intuitive with all features. Features easy to access and use to accommodate your needs. Just about everything is activated with a flip of a switch.
Installation is fairly easy, but note that it has an IP65 rating for outdoor usage. If I were back in Michigan with an uncovered doorway, I may have to second guess installing a doorbell without some kind of cover, but where I am no worries.
The one issue I have with this doorbell, and why I docked a star, is the power sourcing. It is strongly recommended that you only use lithium batteries. Even if you are wiring the doorbell in, the batteries are still required to be used. This can be troublesome because the two-year lifespan is depending on how much usage your doorbell gets. One of the paid features is person detection, but if you decide to use the normal detection, it activates anytime anything crosses the doorbells detection. If you are in a high traffic area, and you are not paying for that subscription, your battery usage will be greatly decreased because you will have several things activating the doorbell at any given time. From squirrels, to papers flying in the wind, to cars, etc. and once again, it's only recommended to use lithium batteries, so that is an added expense and something you just have to have on hand. If you own this doorbell. That's a major drawback for me, but I can deal with it because I am not in a high traffic area at the moment. It does come with two lithium batteries in the package, but if you own this, go find a bulk deal for more.
That being said, I do like this doorbell. I like the option of being able to buy a product and use it without being hindered by a subscription for basic features. Its resolution is slightly lower than some of its competitors in this range, but for all the basic functionality you get and being that the picture is still HD, I'm totally fine with that trade-off.

Set up of the Blink was fairly straightforward, although I did have a slight problem connecting to their website. It gives you the option to link it to your Amazon account, I declined.
I chose to go wireless, although I may change that depending on battery life, but its nice to have options.
The view from the camera is very sharp and clear during the day and is in full color. Night vision is black and white and still very clear with or without my porch light on. I set it up for auto day/night vision.
I just have the 1 camera and opted for the basic package that is free. If I had more cameras I would need to go with the upgrade fee based package. Also you get the free 30 day premium trial if you like.
This is my third doorcam, my other 2...the first cost per month with no option for a free program. The other was free with DVR storage but was so glitchy it wasn’t worth it. Both were name brands. Blink, I think is a perfect fit!

I recently installed a similar Blink Video Doorbell camera with the old style Sync Module at my office a few months ago; so I'm kinda familiar with how these Blink Video Doorbell cameras work and the ease at with they are to install.

First up, to get started simply, download the Blink app from the App Store for iOS or the Google Play Store for Android devices. Once downloaded, you'll need to create a Blink account and simply follow along with the app to continue and complete the installation of the Blink Video Doorbell. Setup took me about 20 minutes since I kinda already knew the process from installing a similar Blink unit at my work office a few months ago. I decided to install this Blink camera at my backdoor to my condo. Since there's no doorbell hardwire that goes to the backdoor, I installed this camera wireless which just means its running off the Sync Module Core and 3 AA batteries that come included. However, if you're installing this doorbell at your front door, you can hardwire it to your in-home doorbell sound system.
Now I must say that I'm loving this camera. It does offer very clear video footage both in daytime hours as well as night time hours. I mainly installed this at my backdoor because these delivery services sometimes are confused between my front door and backdoor because of the way our condo is designed. So I needed a camera out back to keep an eye on packages delivered. Audio quality if also very clear, to the point of you could hear the birds nearby chirping.
Ok so I really love this camera just as much as I loved my other camera installed at my front door, but some of these companies nowadays tend to charge exorbitant fees in order to save recorded footage (which is usually the reason people get doorbell cameras to begin with). We wanna keep an eye on our property & any packages delivered. The Blink Video Doorbell camera does offer a 30-day trial, but then you'll have to choose a subscription plan in order to continue to save footage. Overall I love this camera, it has a nice strong build quality and the camera field of view is amazing from head to toe as they described. Everything works well, just do your homework/research into subscription prices on recording and saving footage.

Safe and strongly packaged, the Blink was not complicated to unbox or set up. The screws, wires, and all little parts came packed separately in little plastic sachets. The sync module, main wire, and video cam came neatly packed in the box in a perforated packet. In a nutshell, the packaging was done very well. I also appreciated that the packaging included clear icons and labels on each plastic pouch, which made identifying each component easier. There was minimal wastage, and the compact box design made it easy to store extra parts for future use.
Look:
The black video cam has a very intuitive design. We got the black model. The design is simple and standard: a black rectangle with a camera on the top half and a push-button “bell” in the lower half. However, the elliptical doorbell shape (as opposed to circular in the previous generation and most other doorbells) is unique and gives us the experience of an analog switch. The sync box is wired and needs a dedicated power outlet. I appreciated that it is wired instead of plugged in, since plugged-in sync boxes can often make the second plug point less usable. A different doorbell cam I own can be un-inserted only with a pin. This one can be snapped in and out very easily. Also, the back can be snapped out using a flat pin instead of a pointed one (or a safety pin or anything pointy). This also means that I cannot lose the flat pin. The matte finish also helps hide fingerprints and dust, which makes the device look clean even after regular use.
Manual:
The manual can be accessed by scanning the QR codes behind the cam and sync. However, I made the mistake of inserting the battery before starting the installation process. I had to eventually take it out. The step-by-step installation includes connecting wires, inserting batteries, downloading the app, syncing, etc., in a very intuitive and methodical way. In addition to the printed QR codes, the Blink app itself guides you through the setup with simple visuals and interactive prompts, which made the process almost foolproof. It would be helpful, though, if a small printed manual were included for people less comfortable with digital instructions.
Batteries and Wiring:
Three lithium batteries are included with a stated two-year life. This is probably dependent on how active the front door is. I wish I could recharge the doorbell instead of waiting for the batteries to die. The cam can be hard-wired to an existing system. There are two wires that I did not use. Also, a chime is not included. So, one needs to either buy a chime or connect the Blink with Alexa or Alexa Echo for audio or A/V information if there is someone at the door. I did notice that the doorbell conserves battery well in lower-traffic areas, so if your door doesn’t get frequent visitors, the battery may indeed last for over a year. A battery status indicator in the app helps keep track of remaining charge, though I wish it gave more specific percentages.
Camera:
The camera gives a circular fish-eye-like image. This makes the shapes a little lopsided. However, in good lighting, the images are really clear and HD quality. In low light, the images are grainy. The sound is only moderately satisfactory. While sound on my phone was pretty loud and clear, guests found my voice glitchy. Clips that are stored are just a few seconds long. That way, it is very difficult to understand the event. Clips get deleted in 60 days. This is what a basic subscription is providing at this time. It would be useful if users had the option to extend clip durations or receive multiple back-to-back clips in a single notification. There is no AI face or package detection but that is not a big problem.
App:
The app is moderately customizable. Since we are on the main road, the Blink was activated every time a car passed 20 feet away from the door through a row of pine trees. While this is evidence that the motion detection is really strong, I was able to change the setting on the app. However, it cannot differentiate between animals and humans like ADT. The doorbell can be synced with Alexa, which is cool. The app’s interface is clean and minimal, with quick access to device settings, clip history, and notification controls. However, sometimes the live feed takes a few seconds to load, especially on slower Wi-Fi. There is a “do not disturb” setting for notifications, which is helpful at night, though I would like the option to mute only motion alerts while keeping doorbell rings active.
Nutshell:
Overall, if followed closely, the step-by-step guide makes installation quite easy. The trick is to stick to the steps of when to download, sync, or insert batteries. Interconnecting the doorbell with other devices (chime or Alexa or phone) completes the process. Since a chime for indoors is not provided, the products provided in the box are not enough to help warn you when someone is outside. The device is an economical option that serves the purpose with basic options, satisfactory connectivity, and a standard, nifty look. For someone already in the Amazon ecosystem, this doorbell offers seamless integration with Echo devices, enabling real-time announcements when someone presses the doorbell or triggers motion.

As for the product I had no problem with the install of it for the wireless setup both the mounting of it and the app both seem to be flawless and very easy to do, sound over it is awesome and being able to talk to the drivers or other people makes it easyer for me now instead of having to shout be there in a second when I do actually hear the knock the only con with this item is once in the app the company ask you if you have an Amazon account and to link it for they're purpose of if your going to buy into the program for the purpose of storage which is fine but the app ask you to change your password and that is where the issuse poped up for me as Amazon's computer system if you have they're 2-step verification turned on it does in all actual fact lock you out of the system and asks for a one time password/code. The way around that is to turn off the 2 step verification before you make the account on the app, (lesson learned on my part). On the pros of the product it's real easy to setup, clear instructions, clear picture and great sound which is clear and being able to understand the person on the other side of the door also the price of the item is very reasonable to along with the price of the plains they have. This is in my opinion a 100% get for the price and also the price of the service plan

What I do not like: Poor image quality. Do not let the sharp colorful image on the Blink product box full you. This is not a 2K or 4K doorbell. Does not have head to toe image option.
Do not install camera facing bright light. Camera lens cannot be adjusted for bright light. Person walking up to the camera with the bright light source behind them will make them appear dark. Best to mount camera of to the side away from direct bright light. When the button is pushed by the visitor, there is a slight lag of the notice and image to load on your phone. It is not immediate. The motion detection will be activated by anyone that walks past your house, including a car's headlights. This is an issue because it activates the camera and places video clips on your phone. This motion feature should have adjustment capabilities available to set its sensitivity.
If you want something sharper, clearer and more robust then you need to spend more money on a camera that is 2K or 4K capable, and with more adjustability.

I’ve been having packages stolen a couple times, and this is my deterrent to that. It is so easy to set up. You can attach it to the door or wire it, and then you download the app to set up. Takes about 5 minutes. It does have batteries if you don’t wire it. I’ve read they last awhile depending on if you have motion detection on or not. With the motion detection, it records when it detects movement and can be saved to your drive to review. It also records when the button is pressed. It notifies you immediately for both. It doesn’t have live view unless you buy the separate module, but that’s not a big deal to me. This has been great so far!

2. The wide angle view is too wide and hence trying to set up the motion zone without picking unwanted areas is totally useless. I missed the deadline to return, while I was trying to give it a chance and me trying to change the wifi settings to see if the live feed lag would improve.

detailedReviews 33: content: Blink cameras have been known for their extended battery life and in all honesty, I am quite surprised at how much this does with just 3 AA batteries. This doorbell works if you have one to replace or not. You can literally put a doorbell camera anywhere you want to. It is super simple to set up, install the app, plug up the sync module, pop in some batteries, run through the steps in the app, a couple screws to mount your preferred bracket, snap it in place and you are up and running. Instantly get access to motion notifications and while on the trial of the plus plan, also person alerts.
However, this is where the down side for me comes in. If you are going to use Blink, you might as well use multiple Blink cameras because they are nearly useless without the subscription or Sync Module 2. You don’t get access to any recordings, you only get motion notification or ring notifications, not if a person was detected. You can’t even do live view recordings, which at least some other apps let you do that as it records to your phone. Live view becomes extremely short and you have no idea what you have missed. The reason I say multiple cameras is because then you can use the subscription service for all of them. But, if this is your one and only camera, the basic plan will cover it cheaper than the plus plan, but then you also don’t get the extended warranty option. So, it is like get 3+ devices to make it worth it, or none at all. I really don’t like how limiting wireless cameras are these days with their plans.
However, with that said, while on the trial for the plus plan, it has been quick to recognize and notify me of person or motion detection, despite sometimes the motion being a person just not facing the camera. The fisheye lens makes for a huge coverage area, even up close. Two way audio is good to hear on the phone, but pretty faint outside. One thing that is missing out is if you don’t have an Alexa device or a wired doorbell, you will ONLY hear a notification from your device that gets the Blink notifications, like your phone. With it connected to your Amazon account and an Alexa speaker, you will hear a doorbell chime of your choice and “Someone is at your Blink doorbell”. The sync module that it is included with is just for connecting to WiFi.
Overall, the doorbell camera is not bad so long as you are willing to pay the monthly subscription and you are all in on the Blink system. Linked with Alexa and multiple cameras or other devices, you start to round out your added monthly cost over time. Without the subscription, it does become less effective but still at least notifies you of motion, allows 2 way communications and functions as a wireless doorbell to your phone or speaker.

It should be noted that Blink and its big brother are both owned by the same company and Blink is considered the more budget little brother. Their offerings are more focused to a handful of products and cheaper. Imagine my surprise when I set up the doorbell and the charge to save recordings and have all the juicy features is the same $100/yr that I currently pay for my camera plan. This is for unlimited devices, or $3/mo for the one doorbell. It does include a 30 day trial.
First thing I noticed was the cheap feel of the plastic. It doesn’t click in to its bracket as nicely as the other brand. And there’s no security screw, it’s just a flat tab retention clip to release the camera. And my biggest issue with it is that it is FULLY battery powered. Included are 3 lithium AA batteries for “up to 2 years” but the only thing my existing wiring is for is activating my chime. It cannot charge the unit nor can the unit work with the batteries not installed, I tried.
Also, maybe my biggest pet peeve with this is you need to install a sync module. And it’s on a USB-C cord so it’s not like you can just plug it directly into the wall and let it sit there like my smart lock module. Only reason I gave it three stars is because it’s relatively inexpensive. But it doesn’t seem to be worth the headache vs a more robust solution.
I’ll leave it up for now but I’ll probably end up buying a replacement unit for my existing doorbell that died and keeping this one as a portable temporary camera for when I need it I guess. I would only recommend this if you are looking for something very cheap, only need the battery install, and are either on the ecosystem or are willing to pay the extra three dollars a month.

Unboxing the new generation door bell showed some immediate improvements. The build seems better and the number of batteries has increased from 2 to 3 lithium only. These are disposable and said to last 2 years. My previous Blink had batteries that lasted just under 9 months with minimum use as I don't use my front door often. One main thing I found annoying, was the mountig base has a rubber pad which prevents double sided tape for being used to mount the camera. The bases between the old and new are also different. The previous was mounted years ago with double sided tape which still continues to hold strong. This new rubber backed base was difficult to mount without drilling (storm door or uneven brick). After finally figuring that out, I set up the new sync module and camera. The new sync base has improved connection and faster. The new camera seems quicker from the time the door bell is pressed until it notifies my phone. The old camera had a considerable lag. I am using the new camera with subscription only with the 30day trial and it preforms well. Definitely, an improvement over the old. I am curious how much of a battery improvement to expect (3 vs 2) but only time will tell. The new video door bell also has a very much improved field of view which will be very helpful for me. All in all this new door bell has been a considerable improvement over the old. I do wish they would revert to, or offer the option of a smooth base which can be secured with double sided tape to follow the quick install versatility of Blink system. Not quite sure about the rubber backing as it seems to make the mounting shaky due to the rubber.

The doorbell itself is minimalist and compact, however setup is a pain. Don't use their screws. They're too small and terrible. had to use my own stronger screws to hold it in place better. The wedge, if needed to angle it, isn't the best quality. we'll see how well it holds up, there's some gap and fitment issues (see pictures)
As far as security of the device itself, there is a lock that is supposed to be triggered with what looks like a sim card tool, however even without it, and minimal force the doorbell was able to pop it right off. so hopefully no one just takes your door bell
Setting up the doorbell to the app is pretty straightforward and easy. However, the app is minimal but not the most friendly UI if you're not typically tech savvy and prone to navigating apps to find features and functionality. there are plenty of additional features, but they require a subscription. So as mentioned, if you're already using Blink products, this would be nice to tie in.
Picture is clear and refresh rate is fine. As seen in the pictures, its a little too fish eyed for my liking
it promises 2 year battery, so we'll see how well that holds up. not sure if this will be able to be edited in 2 years or whenever it dies to comment on it. it is on the lower end to help justify the price but could have done a better job with at least installation of the unit and security of it.

I tried a different manufacturer previously and was disappointed with the frequency of false alarms and slow response. Blink really outshines the competition here. I haven’t had a single false alert and the response is almost instant.
The install was really simple. After installing the app, I followed the instructions provided step by step. The Sync Core module and camera install went smoothly. It took less than 30 minutes and I was done. I really appreciated the angled mount that was included with it.
The field of view is really good, and the quality of the picture is amazing. It will take some time to get used to the fisheye view, but the full head to toe view is perfect for people and packages. A two-way conversation was easily heard by both parties. After waiting to see how it performed in the dark, I have to say the IR night vision Is outstanding.
There are a few things that I wish were included. The included Sync Core module manages the connection to the camera and internet. It does not include a chime. With a wired setup it will use your existing indoor chime. In wireless configurations you need to have an Alexa device or purchase an optional camera to act as a chime. Local recordings require the purchase of an upgraded Sync Module. Here again it would be nice if the upgraded Sync module had a chime function. You have the option to purchase a subscription which enables enhanced monitoring functions and cloud storage for videos.
As a replacement for an existing wired doorbell, it really shines. If you’re expecting to duplicate a doorbell wirelessly, be aware you’ll need additional components.

Most importantly, with the sync module, the videos are stored locally, not in the cloud, so you do not require a paid cloud subscription. (A paid subscription offers some additional cloud features, but the basic features of doorbell, motion detection, recording, and operation through your phone all work without the paid subscription.)
The default motion detection works perfectly for me, only triggering with foreground motion. I have had no spurious triggers.
Also, I needed battery operation due to difficulties running a power line to the doorbell, and this unit uses two easily replaceable lithium AA batteries. I bought four rechargeable batteries for under $20, with two in the unit, and two ready to go, for a really fast and simple exchange.
Audio is loud and clear both ways, and surprisingly, the doorbell has a loud, pleasant chime sound when pressed, and while I could have Alexa repeat that inside, I can hear the outside unit fine, and the phone app also triggers a notification.
The video resolution (1080) is clear and sufficient for recognizing who's there.
Overall I'm very happy with it.

In the Box
What comes in the box is the video doorbell, sync module, USB charge cable and charge block, 3 AA batteries, and mounting hardware, wires, and a mount. It’s everything that I need to get it working.
App
The sync module and doorbell work with the Blink mobile app. Both have QR codes on them which made setup simple. Once the doorbell showed up in the app, I configured settings. There are a lot of settings to go through for a doorbell. I set motion detection options as well as adjusted the sensitivity. I also set the Smart Detection settings so that Person Detection was on, Vehicle Detection was off (my front door doesn’t face towards a road or driveway so I didn’t need that), and Other Motion was on. I also set Motion Zones. This is the same feature I have with security cameras where I can set zones (areas to ignore motion). This helped since there is an area where there is movement that would trigger the camera, but after setting that area as disabled, the notifications for that movement stopped. I’m glad Blink added that in otherwise it would have been a headache.
There are many options for video and photos, volume, temperature alerts, notifications, and the option to connect it to Alexa. I have mine connected to Amazon Alexa. This allows me to get notifications on my Amazon Echo and Echo Show devices. This paired with those expands the convenience of the doorbell. When I’m in the room in which I work and someone rings the doorbell, the camera view shows up on my Amazon Echo Show 8. I can also speak with the visitor. For me that is just telling the FedEx or UPS delivery people that I’ll be right there through the mic on the Echo Show 8, but I’m able to see who it is before heading out of the office to the front door. This is much better than hoping I hear them knock. Also the security aspect of this goes without saying. I know who is at the door even before I head out of the office room.
Operation
Everything worked as it is supposed to. I didn’t have any problems with the setup. Not with the sync module or the doorbell. The camera has a wide enough field of view that I can see everything that I need to. Also, the motion detection worked as I expected it to. The only thing that might become a problem is the max operating temperature. It’s around 107 degrees. This week, where I live, the temperature for one of the days was 97 with a head index of 107. This didn’t seem to cause a problem as far as I could tell from spot checking it during the hour that we reached that temperature. The area that I live in, from mid July to mid August, can reach a heat index of 110. I’m not sure if that will end up causing an issue or not. Time will tell.
Final Thoughts
Everything worked as it was supposed to. No complaints there. I really like how it works with my Echo Show 8. It’s very helpful and I’m glad that Blink supports the Alexa feature. If you are wanting to get a video doorbell, then consider the Blink Video Doorbell. It has many features that I think people will be glad to have.

I have a blink camera in my back yard and have been impressed by how it loads the video feed quickly and consistently. Some of my other cameras take forever to load when I want to view something, if they even do.
Setup was pretty easy. There are no directions in the box, so look them up online and follow along in the app. If using the angle bracket, note which side is front and back.
The form factor is a bit large in how thick and chunky it is. It uses 2 AA batteries, so they're easy to swap out, but if they used a battery pack it could slim down a bit. I like how it can also be connected to the existing doorbell wires (if you have them) to extend battery life and use the existing doorbell chime. It does not have an interior chime itself but will send notifications to your phone and/or alexa devices. I did get it hooked to my fire stick and so I'm able to view on my TV.
It has the fisheye type lense so you get a wider angle outside. Video quality is fine but if you try to zoom, it gets blurry. It's best just for who's at your door.
I really like the blink products so far and will expand my system.

The only con about this is that when the door bell rings you can only get a notification in the app or Alexa devices , if you have neither of these you will not know someone rung your doorbell. I have my doorbell at my back door which is a low traffic area. I probably would not use this in the front door or high traffic areas especially if you do not have a blink plan.
I have the blink basic plan which is $30 a year, if you do not have the plan you cannot see past recordings , live views etc.
The basic plan only covers one device, which is what I have, and it works well for me.
As you can see in the pictures the newer version is slightly bigger than the older one

I thought the smaller package was those little things that are put in to keep moisture from damaging the equipment. I threw it away. OPPPS!! I did not set this doorbell up to be used with my home doorbell. Instead I used the included bell system
After charging the bell part and installing batteries, I installed the doorbell on the outside beside my door. Again it was easy to install. All I needed was a screwdriver. The outside fits snug with no wobbling. I really liked the back panel that tilted the doorbell in for easier viewing of the person outside. The view is amazing and fairly clear. The bell itself is not loud enough for me. I wish it was louder. Other than that, this Blink - Video Doorbell is perfect. I love it.
There is an optional Blink subscription plan that is sold separately and if you opt to purchase it, you will be able to do a lot more with your Blink. I opted to not add the plan.

I had to try a bunch of different places on my porch to get it to record anything motion triggered(other than the door it was on opening), and it is still unreliable. At this point Ive rubberbanded the old one together because it’s motion detector seems to work much better and I need a camera that actually records motion. I hope they do a firmware update or something to fix this. Works fine if doorbell button is pressed, great image quality, but I’m very irritated that it struggles so much with motion detection based on positioning that was never a problem for the old version.

It absolutely does not. The worst part of it is it barely captures motion, it misses so many people going to the door or close to it. It also records quite a bit later. This was when I had the free subscription that it worked poorly. Come on what security system doesn't record unless you're paying Massive fees to record? The quality wasn't even that good, records more like 640p/480p.
Even worse setting this thing up was a nightmare.
You can get a better system for the same price elsewhere which I've had to do.

Why I chose Blink: I wanted one that can be wired to my doorbell and ring the doorbell inside my house, which this Blink one does. I was also happy to see that I can store my videos using the Sync Module and a USB thumb drive. It does offer a subscription plan to store videos to the cloud but I don't want to pay for a subscription every month.
The directions to install the doorbell were very detailed. However, I was disappointed that there aren't any directions on how to actually use the App and how to save the videos from the Sync module to the USB drive. I had to figure out how to navigate through the App on my own. I didn't find it user friendly.
After the first three days, my video stopped working and the App said that my expensive lithium batteries were dead. I contacted Blink Support and they said to return my doorbell (which I had to uninstall) and they sent me a replacement, (which I had to re-install). This one has been working well so far and it's been a few weeks.

Trying to get the doorbell to work with your inside chimes is pointless because it doesn’t work. So forget about that!

Pros:
1. Yes it stores video clips locally to USB.
Sync module is easy to use and provides doorbell chime as indicated.
2. Video quality is good, night vision=not bad if you set it correctly.
3. Granular control over detection zones.

Cons:
1. Without the online subscription, using ANYTHING from the local USB is sloooooooooooooooow. Once the thing says motion is detected, it takes almost 30 seconds to actually see what's on the camera. A burglar could set off the camera, break in, kill us, steal two TV's and our cat, and drive away before anyone can see what's on the camera feed!!!
2. Even blocking out zones with granular feed, it still triggers motion in these zones all the time....so what's the point?
3. To get good enough night vision, motion sensitivity, etc. to be of any use, it burns through batteries like crazy, which ups the cost of use.
4. Now just around a year old, it's starting to act up so that we have to reboot the module at LEAST once a week, sometimes more to get it to record clips of the motion it's detecting, making it extremely unreliable if we want to go on vacation.
Overall, it was inexpensive, and is better that the piece of junk Wuuk doorbell system it replaced, and one of the only "name brand" doorbell cams that does NOT require an expensive monthly subscription, so I dunno whether to tell you this is worth it or not .
For people like me that need some sort of doorbell, want to get into the video doorbell game on the cheap, skip monthly subscriptions, and don't mind constantly griping about the one you bought, I suppose this is the one for you.

You could have more than one camera activate and record to your hub usb stick. However, our BT hub just couldn't hack the traffic and I had to buy a 2nd router and side link it to it. (This made the overall setup hard) The app in 2021 was very good, fully featured. In 2021 the only reason to have the subscription was to remove the worry of someone breaking in and taking the memory stick with the evidence on. So fast forward to 2024, greed and zero care for the consumer has set in. No longer can you record from live view without a subscription, no longer can you have more than one camera record without a subscription. App features are ripped out, slapped in and moved to subscription only without care or warning. Why, greed, pure and simple greed. Now, without the subscription, it is a security camera system with massive vunerable issue's. It makes having a wired system with a hard drive attached look more attractive and the competitors do it far better. So in 2024 this system is bin fodder at best, unless you want to be at the mercy of a company as bent as a round about. This is an honest and acurrate review, once loved, now hated system. Good luck.

The doorbells can be finicky and quit working for absolutely no reason. This requires removing all powered doorbell wires and the batteries, counting to twenty, and putting it all back together. If you are away from home, you are out of luck.
But for the price, it is a good starter kit.

This has a small module that interfaces with all your Blink cameras and provides local storage (if you add a USB memory stick, not included).
You do get a free subscription to the cloud storage for a few months and it does give you a few extra features but makes the Sync module work differently, so I removed that as soon as I could.
The devices are controlled by an app on your phone. It's secure and easy to use.
The system is very easy to install and set up. The app adds new devices by using the QR code printed on each device, which makes it a breeze.
The only downside is that the system relies on an app for control and there is no facility to use Windows or Apple IOS directly. For windows, I have used a windows program to run Android on my PC and then installed the Blink app on there.
Overall the cameras are good but I would say that they are a standard resolution rather than high resolution.
You can set motion sensing on each individual camera and even which areas of the image become motion sensitive, so you could for instance block out the neighbour's property.
There is a microphone and speaker built in so you can talk to people via the doorbell and the app.
Overall, it works very well and for the price, there is no brand name equivalent with local storage.

I physically set up the cameras myself and they were working fine for 2 days. The very next day when I get home 1500 miles away the indoor camera keeps going in and out. The doorbell camera has not worked since. I have absolutely no way of getting there without flying out of state to look at them and see what the problem is. They're both about 10 ft away from a brand new Wi-Fi router. Like I said there was nothing wrong with them when I left they were working flawlessly for 48 hours. As soon as I get out of town they don't want to work. Absolute garbage do not waste your money on these things. I was relying on them to watch it after my elderly mother. Now I have nothing.

I tried customer service twice and their messages back to me were cryptic and asked me to take so many steps. I may end up having to return this lemon.

Another long call with customer service and they determined I needed a new unit so they did send me one but - another long call with customer service - we couldn’t get that one to work either and it took down my home wifi so I had to fix that! I pitched the thing and went out and got another ding-dong doorbell for $5.99. Works beautifully and I actually know if somebody’s at the door now for the first time in nearly a year. Save your money.

It is battery operated (double A), but it also draws power from the doorbell wiring, so I think the batteries act as backup, and help reduce dependency on the battery.
Image quality is really quite good. Daylight, images are sharp a colorful. The night vision is pretty good... You can see pretty well about 8-10 feet, but then it falls off pretty quick.
Field of view is pretty good. My install required an angle bracket as my doorbell doen't face the street. There are some very affordable ones you can add and it's been great.
I also really like how well it rings the internal chime. I've had Ring doorbells and it requires the installation of an adapter on the doorbell and even then it didn't operate the bell well. The Blink camera installs exactly how you'd think it should, and rings the chime perfectly.
If I had any negative, I wish the field of view VERTICALLY was a bit wider. It can't really see the ground by the door, so, it's difficult to see packages delivered. It's a pretty small issue, but, it is a wish.

Connection is great all over the house and to other outside blink cams. But this doorbell is just faulty and looses connection easily. I even had a replacement sent out and it was the same problem. When I call and explain some of the reps can be rude and mute you constantly with out saying anything. They will tell you that your connection is bad eventhough the app will tell you that your connection is strong to all devices with the blink sync module and your own internet is strong. I wish I could return this so badly, even for a store credit. I would never buy this product again. I regret buying this so much because it such a hassle. Listen to the people here and don't buy this thing because when it goes wrong, it goes wrong. Save your receipt! Save the box! Send it back!

The quality of the picture is good, the motion sensor is good. The night vision is only a few meters but that's ok. It comes with 2 brackets, 1 is straight and the other on an angle for if you want to angle the camera in a certain direction. The angle of the lens is nice and wide so picks up a big area. Overall very happy 😊

No bell, no video, no voice … nothing. I changed batteries as directed. No luck. WiFi and power were not the issue. And, if it were batteries, why would I need to change a lithium battery everyday. This item in my opinion was not worth the trouble. I am not calling customer support daily for reboots.

Mount is strong and should hold if anyone tries to rip off.
And the best part, even though I have the max of 10 ring cameras I was still able to add this under a new system name but still on the app.
Overall, very happy with the buy.

It has great sound quality whether recording or using the microphone. As well as great nightvision capability even without use of porchlight or other lumination. I chose to use mine wirelessly, but the wiring option and necessary pieces are included in packaging. Mounting requires a drill and 7/32 drill bit for easiest installation, but necessary hardware is otherwise included. Their cloud subscription is cheap through Amazon at only $10 a month for unlimited devices, recording, saving, and sharing of clips. I will be purchasing more from this brand in the near future.

I have to remove and reinstall the sd card on the app to reconnect. Changing the battery, the clips break easily but I bought a protective case this fits in so I didn't have to throw it away. Customer service will replace the bracket so they are good but if the clip is broken on the unit (as is my case) the bracket is useless. The case solved that problem altogether and makes changing the batteries easier. I've had this for over a year and the original batteries lasted a long time but now it constantly shows a weak battery warning on the app. I've changed the batteries quite a few times with different brands but this is just something I've learned to live with. All and all I'm satisfied and happy that I can see activity in front of the house when I'm not there. I can't compare it to other similar devices as this is the only one I've ever had and it seems to do the trick at a good price point.

First, installation and set-up were very quick and easy. Second, it not only works well, it works consistently. I've used it for nearly a month now and it hasn't lost connection even one time. I think the video quality and adjustment options aren't quite as good as the other brand, but only slightly.
But the point is - this one works - all the time. It has not dropped connection once since I installed it. And though I wish it had a plug-in chime, I can still hear it just fine. It rings directly and loudly on the doorbell and also sends a loud notification on my phone when movement is detected and when the doorbell is rung. I can hear from anywhere in the house even without a chime. So for me it's a definite win.

You can also use a variety of features to monitor motion and protect packages sitting at your doorstep, acting as a deterrence against theft.
In the box you’ll find the video doorbell, a mount plate, two AA lithium batteries, a removal tool that looks like a SIM card style key on a paper mount template, power posts for wired installations, and some mount hardware screws. Setup requires the use of the free Blink App, a wireless router, and an active internet connection on the device being used for setup. The installation instructions also advise you to have a power drill, screwdriver, and some tape handy for use when mounting to your desired location. If you’re using an iPhone or Android device, you can use the camera to scan a small barcode on the back of the doorbell, or simply type in the serial number to add the device in the app. I did encounter a couple of odd hang ups when initially adding the doorbell but was easily resolved with a simple reset of the device and the app. Assuming you don’t encounter a similar app lock up, the setup will finish in just minutes. If you have an existing wired doorbell, you’ll use the included posts to attach the wire and install the device.
While this isn’t the only Amazon owned doorbell brand, the Blink Doorbell offers the flexibility of using their subscription-based cloud recording service or using a Sync Module to store them locally to a USB drive (both sold separately). The Doorbell included a 30-day trial to give the cloud recording a test run. While the Sync Module isn’t required for installation, there are some limitations, which you’ll likely find annoying without having one. In my quest to see the differences, I set up the doorbell without the Sync Module 2 first.
Without the Sync Module, you’ll be required to use the cloud service to store recordings, there won’t be any live viewing available on your Amazon Echo Show devices and are limited to a 60 second response to answer the doorbell via the app. If you don’t answer within the set time, your doorbell goes back into a sleep state waiting for the next doorbell press. These limitations exist to prolong the battery life over time by disabling the Wi-Fi connection until it’s actively engaged. You’ll also have to push the doorbell button to save any setting changes done in the app every time you hit save (with a 24-hour window to do so). Due to these limitations, I would highly recommend the Sync Module for anyone wanting to take advantage of motion detection, live viewing, or alert scheduling.
If you have an existing Sync Module 2, you’ll need to make sure it’s setup prior to adding the doorbell to your account. With the module setup, you’ll be able to enable a live viewing session in the Blink App or your Amazon Echo Show devices on demand. It’s important to note that the Blink Doorbell will only allow for one live viewing session at a time, so you’ll need to decide on answering via the app or your Echo Show at any given moment. Otherwise, you’ll get a connection or busy error when trying to view a live feed simultaneously on one of the devices. The Sync Module 2 has a USB slot for use with USB drives, up to 256 GB, to store recordings locally or save backups of your daily cloud-based recordings with the subscription service. You can decide to either store every live session or toggle a button in the app to save recordings at your discretion when viewing in the app. The USB drive makes it easy to remove the drive and plug into a PC/Mac and view or download the recordings at any time.
You also get the option of scheduling arming and disarming throughout the course of the week. This essentially allows you to turn on motion detection within the time windows you set and disarm alerts to during later times in the evening or overnight. I love the schedule feature, as I arm the doorbell during peak times during the day when deliveries are more likely to happen and keep the alerts quiet during the nights and weekends when visitors are less likely. You will need to enable and link your accounts in the Alexa App if you want Alexa Echo/Show to call out doorbell presses or motion alerts. If you install the doorbell without the Sync Module, Alexa will still announce, but won’t be able to answer. So, for the best experience, I’d highly recommend picking up the Sync Module 2 along with the doorbell.
The variety of features and their settings can be enabled or disabled in the app. The blink app will give you general health of the battery life, your Wi-Fi connection, and connection strength to your Sync Module. You can turn on detection zones using a simple to use grid, enable motion activated LED to illuminate the button when someone approaches, set the clip length, and even set the night vision IR intensity. Video quality was better than my last video doorbell, capturing recordings at 1080P, and you can even set the speaker volume to ensure the entire neighborhood isn’t hearing the doorbell ring. If you forgot how to install the device, it even includes the same doorbell installation instructions in the settings within the app. I rarely encountered false motion alerts, with every motion even captured and easily viewed in the app.
I found that live viewing was quick on my Echo Shows, and in the App, compared to another popular doorbell I replaced. The flexibility of the local recording was a feature I plan to take full advantage of, and the size of the doorbell was about 2/3 the size of the previous video doorbell I was using. This can use off the shelf AA lithium batteries, versus needing to purchase more expensive proprietary ones, and the longer battery life means fewer need to take the doorbell off the mount to replace them. The price point feels right, but you will need to invest in a decent storage size USB drive and a Sync Module 2 in order to take advantage of all the features available and on-demand live viewing without significantly impacting battery life. Removing the device from the mount does require the small key tool but can be removed with a smaller flat head screwdriver if you’re having issues gripping the small tool it comes with. Overall, after a week of use, I’m happy with the performance of the device, even if you do need to invest in an another accessory.

I had button my mom a ring doorbell back last summer and installed it, for Christmas one of her gifts from me was a blink doorbell. so now it's New Year's Eve and she brings the box out and I'd look at it and all the materials inside. so the next day she asked me to put up the doorbell and again like I said I went through all the parts and stuff that was in the box and installing and I believe that the video is clearer than the ring doorbell. on top of that on the ringerville you have to take the screws out and recharge that unit where you don't the blink doorbell. Super easy to set up, they have step by step along the way, and if you can’t seem to get it set up right away the app has that covered and helps with extra steps on that too. You can watch live video (which saved the video you watch), and talk through the door bell as well. If you have other cameras you can set up the door bell chime though the other cameras too. I have mine set up that way so when someone rings the door bell I can hear it throughout my house.

In the box are the doorbell/camera assembly, mounting plate, two Energizer Lithium AAA batteries, and hardware, including mounting screws and anchors, wire nuts, and spare screws for the wiring connection. I am really impressed with the inclusion of the Energizer Lithium batteries. They're very good batteries that should last for a long time.
Setup is as simple as downloading the Blink Home Monitor App (Apple App Store, Google Play Store, & Amazon Appstore), setting up an account, and following the in app instructions. Blink does require both email and phone number verification, but the verification codes come quickly and these layers add more security to your account.
To mount the doorbell, turn off the power to your doorbell transformer, then use the enclosed template to pre-drill the two screw holes, attach the wires to the baseplate, screw the baseplate to the wall, and snap the doorbell onto the baseplate. Turn the power back on. That's it. Super easy!
Alexa integration is accomplished by enabling the Blink Smarthome skill in the Alexa App on your smartphone, and linking your Blink and Amazon accounts. Once that's accomplished, you can use commands like, "Alexa, show the front door." to see live video feed from your Blink Doorbell at the front door on you Alexa device. You can also speak to the person ringing the doorbell via your Alexa device (obviously the Alexa device must have video capability).
Finally, if you add the Blink Sync Module 2, you can store all your video clips locally for up to 10 cameras using an SD card, or you can choose to subscribe to Blink's cloud storage service to store your video offsite. Blink offers two levels of cloud service, and a handy chart comparing the options is available on the Blink web site.

Setup by way of the Blink Home Monitor app is very simple. The doorbell sends alerts whenever motion is detected and when people actually press the button to ring the doorbell - the only two configurations I needed to change (so far) were the sensitivity of the motion detection and the volume of the alert for the doorbell on my phone. Navigation within the app is intuitive and I like the design and configuration options in the app.
The doorbell can operate without the Sync Module 2, but you will need to purchase a subscription plan to save photos or videos. The Sync Module 2 has a USB port where you can use your own thumb drive to save photos and videos locally without having to purchase a subscription. And the Sync Module allows you to expand your surveillance options to include additional Amazon devices.
The doorbell runs on batteries that they assure us can last up to two years. I have mine mounted independently - which means that the doorbell itself (outside) chimes (outside) and sends a similar chime to my phone. If you want to mount this doorbell as a replacement of an existing doorbell in your home, you simply connect your existing wires to this device and it will operate your internal chimes like a pushbutton switch.
Daylight photo and video are excellent - nighttime photo and video are very good. I'm impressed with the motion detection capabilities and I like that I can turn on the camera remotely from my phone to look out from my front door.
Make sure you have the tools and the know-how to be able to mount this in whatever material you have outside your door. It took me WAY longer to drill through the brick in front of my house than it took to setup the doorbell and hub and get it configured.
This gives me added peace of mind without needing to pay for a subscription. Highly recommended.

The doorbell itself looks pretty much like all the other video doorbells out on the market today. Inside the box, in addition to the doorbell, you'll get two lithium AA batteries, two wall anchors, two screws, two small wire nuts and a little tool to pry the doorbell off it's base when it's time to change the batteries. If you were to loose this little tool, and yes, I mean little at just under 1 1/2 inches in length, the you could use a small flat blade screwdriver instead. It would be pretty easy to loose this little prying tool.
The lithium AA batteries that are included with the Blink doorbell have a lifespan of up to two years according to Blink. Depending on how active your doorbell will be will really determine how long the lithium batteries last. Since I have the Blink outdoor cameras, they also use two lithium AA batteries, I just buy them when they're on sale, so I always have back up lithium AA's on hand.
I hooked up my Blink doorbell using just the batteries for now as I have an older home, and I don't have any idea on the voltage to my existing doorbell. A friend is an electrician, so hopefully in the near future he can come over and using his voltmeter, he'll be able to find out my voltage. From my understanding, using your existing doorbell wiring will allow the Blink to use your home door chimes, but you still will need to have the two lithium AA batteries installed to power the Blink doorbell itself.
Since I already have the Blink app on my phone, syncing the Blink doorbell was fairly easy. It took me four times to get it to sync up to my system, after that all was great. I also have the Amazon Echo smart speaker (4th generation) and I have my Alexa app linked to my Blink app, so I get notifications that someone is at the door on my Echo smart speaker.
The Blink doorbell camera produces 1080p images and they look great on my cell phone. Now you're talking about an 6 " display, but it look very good. Feeding that image to a tv should still look pretty good in theory, but I've not tried that yet. Since I'm grandfathered in on my Blink security system, I don't have to pay for the storage, so I can't comment on that. But I do use a USB drive hooked up to my Blink sync module to save my security camera footage, and hopefully the doorbell footage will be able to be saved there too.
While I've only had the Blink video doorbell hooked up for a week, so far my experience is pretty good. Still tweaking the distance setting a bit to get them to where I want them, but over all, I've pretty happy and feel that the $49.99 I spent has been worth it so far.
For the money, I highly recommend buying the new Blink video doorbell.

You download the Blink Monitor App, follow the quick and easy step-by-step instructions both within the app and on the box, and away you go. In no time at all I was testing out the various features and video setup. You also have a choice to link the doorbell to your Amazon account/Alexa; while I do have an Amazon account, I chose not to link it and everything still works as needed. (You do have to create a Blink account within its app.)
Everything can be controlled via the app, to customize notifications and alerts. You can see who’s at the door instantly, and choose to be notified when the doorbell is pressed, when motion is detected, if the temperature of the camera is out of range, and also choose to be alerted if the doorbell has low battery, if the camera is offline, and if the whole system is offline. There is two-way audio so you can communicate with whomever is at the door, and the sound is clear. The HD video is also crisp and clear. My husband and I have the app set up on both of our iPhones, and we set up an older iPhone in our kitchen to be used purely as a monitor for the system as well. You can also set up an Amazon Echo Show to be a monitor, too.
There is also an option to subscribe to a Cloud service that will store your pics/video for a certain period of time, depending on how much you’re willing to spend per month. Or, as I chose, you can use local storage on a USB drive via the Sync Module, which has a USB-A port. I really like this option—and being given the choice—of whether to utilize a subscription service, or simply to supply my own storage.
All in all, I would recommend this video doorbell based on its ease of setup and installation, its quality of video, and its functionality, along with its various customizations regarding notifications and alerts.

When I saw that Blink was coming out with their own doorbell, I thought great, but what too so long for them to do it. So, since I have the Blink home monitoring cameras outside, as well as Blink mini cameras inside, and the price was enticing, I thought I'd give it a go. In addition to the Blink security set up, I have the Amazon 4th generation Echo smart speaker with the Alexa app synced to my Blink system. It's on my nightstand so if motion is detected on my security system when it's armed, it tell me that I have motion at my garage camera, or back yard camera, or wherever motion is detected. This comes in handy if I forget to place my phone on my nightstand and I don't hear the notification from my Blink app on my phone.
First off, the doorbell looks just about like any other security doorbell out on the market. It's nice that you have the choice of black or white doorbells. Inside the box, you have two lithium AA batteries, two screws and anchors to mount it where ever you will place it. Two wire nut twist connectors and a tiny tool to pry off the doorbell from the base when it's time to replace the batteries.
Speaking of batteries, they are supposed to last two years, but I know that most likely won't happen. if your camera is constantly busy because people are ringing it, so video is running a lot, perhaps talking to someone through your doorbell to delivery people, or your mail person, I just don't see that happening. Now if perhaps not much goes on at your house, then maybe they last two years.
No instructions in the box, but just head over to the Blink website for detailed set up instructions. Since I already have a Blink system set up at home, that saved me some time as I didn't have to download the Blink app and set that up. I set up my Blink doorbell using the batteries only as I have an older house, and I don't have a clue on what voltage my original doorbell operates on. Later on, I plan on having a friend who is an electrician come over and test the voltage and see if I can use the Blink doorbell wired.
It took four tries to get my Blink doorbell to sync up to my existing sync module even though the doorbell and module are less than 10 feet apart. But as I mentioned, I live in an older house with thick plaster walls and the exterior where the Blink doorbell is mounted is solid brick. Not the thin decorative bricks that are on many houses.
Since I'm using batteries only at this point, when someone rings my doorbell, it will notify me on the Blink app on my phone. And as I mentioned earlier that my set up includes an Amazon 4th generation Echo smart speaker, if someone rings my doorbell, then I'm also notified through my smart speaker. Unfortunately the notification through my smart speaker is not "ding dong" chime. It says something like motion at your doorbell. Maybe there is a way to change that, but I've not had too much time to do that as I've been pretty busy lately. I've also seen on some YouTube videos that if you have the Amazon Echo Show smart display that you can view who's at your door when you have your Alexa app synced with you Blink app. This would easier to see who"s at your door at night if you have the Echo Show smart display on your night stand instead of fumbling around for your phone, then unlocking it, etc.
The picture quality is 1080p, which looks very good on my phone. I have not uploaded any video clips to my computer to see how they'll look on a 32 inch monitor, but I'm sure it will look pretty good. Not 4K great quality, but good enough picture quality to identify any porch pirates to the police if they ever come to my home.
Overall, I give this new, first generation Blink video doorbell 3 out of 5 stars. It's not the best out there by any means, but priced at $50.00 it's a pretty good deal.

I have a lot of traffic in my neighborhood, so a lot of videos were recorded. After a few days, the batteries died. Switched them out for Duracell batteries, which only lasted two days. Read online to use lithium batteries only lasted for 7 days. Took it back, not sure if it was a defective item or not, didn't want to go through the hassle with the same problem.

When wired into an existing chime system, the chime will ring the system inside of your home and the video will still be viewable on your phone’s device.
The doorbell is extremely easy to install. The app that is provided for both android and iOS devices provide step-by-step instructions on either type of installation. I was able to pair the doorbell and install it in under a minute. Taking a view of the Q code next to the serial number on the inside of the doorbell or typing in the serial number is the first step of installation. Then, much like Alexa or any other product that can be controlled through the use of an app, the doorbell just needs to join with your network.
If wiring the doorbell, then the circuit breaker to the existing doorbell needs to be turned off and the old doorbell removed. The two doorbell wires connect to the back of the plate and then the plate is secured with two provided screws that come in the packaging. The doorbell face with batteries is then attached securely to the backing. In order to deter theft, there is a tool that needs to be used to take the face from the backing. It, too, is included in the packaging.
Blink offers an optional subscription plan that allows you to save and share your videos, or you can choose to save and share your photos and videos without a subscription plan by using the Sync Module 2 and a USB, both sold separately. The doorbell also works with Alexa, or you can turn this feature off, under settings on the app, if you prefer not to use it with Amazon Alexa.
This is a good alternative to more expensive video doorbells. I would give it five stars because it connected quickly, installed easily and the video works well; however, I did seem to have some static in the 2-way audio which keeps me from giving it five stars. Unfortunately, this could have been my phone’s service just as well as it could have been static in the doorbell. At the present I am not sure. I do recommend the doorbell as it is made to handle weather conditions and the video works well in both the day and night. The body of the video doorbell is made of plastic, and I am not sure how that will handle extreme heat and sub-zero temperatures that we have in my area. I have installed the doorbell and will be testing it to find out how well the casing holds up in extreme weather. Still, for $49 dollars, I think that it is a very good bargain if you are looking for a video doorbell in a lower price range and I recommend that you give it a try.

So I was glad to get this Amazon Blink video doorbell + Sync Module 2 with its promise of 2 years on battery life. To get that longevity, you have to install the Sync Module 2, else the batteries will run out faster and some features are not available. One great benefit of battery operation is you could use the camera anywhere including RV, office where you don’t have access to wiring, sheds, porches, or even as a general security camera. It’s small enough to install in many places.
There are a few caveats on the Sync Module 2. First is that it only works on 2.4 GHz wifi. The second is if you get an older one (serial number is less than 2xx-200-000), it may have outdated firmware that cannot accept wifi passwords with special characters like @ % : $ ‘ = “ ; or multiple spaces in a row. In that case, you will have to change your wifi password temporarily to get the module connected, let it upgrade its firmware, then change the wifi password back. Obviously this is extremely frustrating if you’re not aware of it. The last caveat is you should install and set up the Sync Module 2 first, and then set up the camera and add it.
Once you’re set up, the nice thing about the video doorbell + sync module is that you don’t need to subscribe to Blink’s cloud service to store videos. Instead, the sync module can store clips locally on a thumb drive.
The doorbell itself uses a 1080p camera and has a decent set of basic features, especially for the price. For example, it has night vision and the ability to exclude zones from responding to motion. But it doesn’t have HDR for better video quality, or person detection, features found in the more expensive Ring products, also by Amazon.
All in all, this is a very well priced entry level doorbell.

The instructions are clear, simple and i had it set up and working within twenty minutes or less. I love the wide angle on the doorbell, it really does a great job at catching all the details nice and clear.
If someone is hanging around where they shouldn't you can speak to them through the speaker on the unit itself, it works clear enough for the person on the other end to make out what your saying.
The notifications are communicated instantly to your cell phone once the motion sensor detects movement.
The doorbell has two methods of instructions it can either run on two AA batteries or you can permanently install the unit using your doorbell wiring, but you may have to upgrade your transformer to one with a higher voltage so the camera works as efficiently as it can. I know this because i had to perform the upgrade for a friend who had issues with his unit not working properly untill the upgrade was made. Its not too difficult but some electrical comprehension helps or you can just turn to youtube.
Well i guess that wraps it up, you get about two weeks or so before your trial period ends and you have to subscribe in order to keep your history and other options going.
Would i personally purchase this unit again? Yes, without a doubt! We have children on the premises and we need to make it safe for everyone!

At first I thought it needs to be installed with an existing doorbell. But glad that it doesn't have to and simply use batteries to install it anywhere. We opted to use the angled back attachment because our side door panel is not quite straight and the view of someone waiting there isn't clear if we don't use the angled back. Installation is easy and required some basic tools. As with other Blink cameras, the module should be placed within considerable distance to the video doorbell or it will disconnect. We placed the module within about 5 ft from the doorbell and it works perfectly. Also, one must have a great wifi network because if the unit is placed far from the wifi, either the delay is noticeable or it will disconnect. The doorbell sound is loud enough to be heard where we positioned and I get notification on my phone almost instantly when someone presses the button. Once it's 'activated' you can speak to the person on the opposite end and the sound is clear and crisp and we can clearly hear the other person. You have the option to record the video conversation or discard. You also have the ability to set the length of the video capture and the sensitivity of the unit. What I really like about this is the instant notification on my phone and I can speak to the other person without being actually home. It says this unit works with Alexa but we have Google Home so I cannot comment on that. The only con would be the battery life. It quickly use up the juice when the unit is used more frequently. But this should not be a problem if the unit is installed using your existing doorbell.
Overall, I like this unit for its ease of installation and use and it serves our purpose of having an 'eye' at our side door.

That was because of where the wiring was located and the stone frame, which makes it very difficult to rewire anything. Whenever possible, wiring is preferable because you don’t have to worry about batteries running out. Blin gives you that flexibility. It was so easy to install, and you can have it up and running in minutes after you download the app and follow the instructions.
Because you’re not forced to subscribe for their service and you can save the videos locally, this makes the Blink doorbell even more enticing. Just be aware that you need the Sync Module 2 for that but I couldn’t find much that I didn’t like. Video quality is 1080p, which is excellent for a doorbell. The two-way audio works well and so far, it has not disconnected or produced subpar images even under low light conditions, which are much better than I expected for a product that is not considered high end.
A lot of modern features such as zone or masking are available, and they work well. The only missing feature here is facial recognition. I personally like that feature but many people don’t. So, you may see that as either negative or positive. For this review, I consider it negative. One of the positive features is that it integrates very well with Alexa as expected from an Amazon product.
Interestingly, its respect for privacy is much better than another Amazon product. Considering price, features and quality, it is hard to pass.

Otherwise you will have to have a subscription for cloud storage and will only get the option to view live on a motion detention or press.
It is simple to install. Just two batteries, two screws and snap on. The recommendation is 40-48 inches from the ground, but at arms length at 44 inches it wouldn’t see peoples heads. So, I would say 48-50 inches is better unless there is a full step up to your door.
Video quality isn’t bad for something that is just running on 2 x AA batteries. It is a little delayed in the video and audio, but most wireless cameras are. I haven’t had it long enough to see how long the included batteries last, but it’s not like I have 10 people a day ringing my doorbell.
I am a little disappointed that you can’t change the audio and the only internal source of sound is your phone or Amazon devices that you have connected to it. Even with the Sync Module there’s nothing unless you have something like the Amazon Echo. With that though, you can choose a more likely doorbell sound as Alexa tells you someone is at the door. Connecting to an Amazon account was pretty easy as well.
Overall, for an affordable simple doorbell it’s decent. The more features you want, the more you will need to buy and connect.

The problem with the plastic casing is the fact that with all Dorrbell Cameras is that its outside in the elements which ends up making the plastic backplate brittle and ends up cracking over time. All in all its a decent Doorbell Camera.

I have had Blink video cameras for quite some time, and can attest to how long the batteries last. Also, using the Blink sync module, there is no extra cost per month to store video clips. I do have to plug in a USB stick, but it all works quite well. So far everything seems to work well, including motion detection and door bell functions. The door bell is slimmer than most so it worked perfectly for my installation between the frame of my security door and brick wall. Mounting was easy (2 screws) and set up and pairing was intuitive. The door bell is also wifi only if you don't want to use the sync up module- however the instructions checked both boxes including the wifi which is a bit confusing.
I did find the motion detection quite good. The video clarity was not the best, and faces were often difficult to recognize. I also found the night vision limited, and against a lighted background, the video made faces at not clear. Increasing the video quality from standard help somewhat, but I know it will affect the battery life. I think this is the trade off for a battery efficient unit.
All in all, I find this unit acceptable, expecially for the price, and ease of installation. It can work just about anywhere (as long as your wifi extends) and there is no fees with the sync up module. I do wish the resolution was better.

This doorbell can be used with wiring from an existing doorbell or wireless using batteries. Living in a condo with no doorbell or wiring for one, I love that this can be wireless and run on batteries. This doorbell also has two way audio, so I can talk to whoever is at my door without even opening it. If I click on the notification, it will open the app and I just need to press the microphone button to talk to whoever is at the door. I don’t even have to be home to stay in contact with whoever is at my door. I get a sound on my phone (whichever sound I set up) to alert me that someone is at my door. I can tell them to leave a package, that I will be returning home soon, etc. I find this VERY convenient.
Setup is not that difficult. You will need to download the Blink app, create an account and follow the online instructions, which are pretty self explanatory. You now can manage most anything right from you phone.
I like that when someone rings the doorbell you can also have Alexa set up to notify you someone is at the “Door”, “Back Door” or whatever you have named it.
Bonus is that you only need to put in a USB (a Blink USB flash drive is available on Amazon) flash drive into the Sync Module for local video storage and/or delete the ones you don’t want to save, although you do get a free limited-time subscription to the Cloud and can just continue using that for a fee after free trial is over.

We bought the doorbell specifically to give us extra peace of mind.
If you want to purchase this doorbell just ensure you can afford the pricey monthly or yearly plan on-top of the cost of the devices or you'll be sorely disappointed.
Even more dissatisfied are the customers that have been happily using all features of this Blink camera and doorbell system for years. To have these features suddenly revoked unless we pay extra doesn't sit right with me.

I already had a 1000ft roll of 18/3 thermostat wire sitting around for years and the entire kit was cheap. Anyway it has a nice clear picture, let's me know when someone is coming to the door and when someone pushes the doorbell. I can speak to them from anywhere. I do admit it does have about a 3 to 5 second delay which the rest of my security camera have as well. I'm not sure if it's because I'm cheap and got the cheap ones or if it's just something all of them do. Either way for the price it's great and worth every penny. If I had paid a hundred dollars I'd probably give it 4 stars and if I paid $200 or more I'd likely give it less then 4 stars however being that I only paid $35 I got more then I expected and I'm completely happy with this purchase. Even with the delay I'd rather save the money because it does everything I need it to and I think most people who understand you're not going to get gold for the price of copper will be happy with this product as well. The pictures quality is great and a few second delay is the only draw back I can find so far. Definitely worth every penny as long as it lasts.

The max range for the motion sense to activate on all of it is maybe 8 feet away. By the time the light turns on its too late, you’re pretty much past the light already even though the lights will light up a good 100 feet out.
By the time the motion sense activates the camera, 6’-8’ away, what ever would be in view of the camera is either already right at the camera or past it. The camera can view in great detail further and better than most high end cell phone cameras, but its all worthless if it isn’t turned on till something is already right at or past the camera already.
There is absolutely no excuse what so ever for this major design oversight by putting such a great product together and then completely failing on the quality of the motion sense. The motion sense is like the heart or brain of the entire product. Its like building by hand a high end sports car with no expenses spared, then installing a 1 HP outboard boat motor under the hood.
We have motion sense outdoor lights on our RV that we paid $15 for and they work flawlessly. At max sensitivity they sense motion over 40 feet away, they also never false trigger by moths flying in front of them, spiders climbing on them or leaves blowing.
Why would Blink not of designed this with better motion sensors?????????

Camera always misses the actual movement that set it off and starts recording about 4 seconds later. Looks like people appear out of thin air on the camera. Camera will sense movement as people approach the door but only begins recording after they have left, or will appear as though they just materialized out of thin air on the top step.
If somebody vandalizes your door or steals a package from you, you will not see it on the camera. It will only start recording after the event has happened that the person is gone, leaving you with dozens of videos of an empty stoop.
THIS IS NOT A FREE SERVICE. IF YOU DON'T PAY A SUBSCRIPTION, YOUR CAMERA WILL STOP WORKING. All of their ads say that you can use basic features without a subscription plan- this is not true. Your camera will stop taking videos after 2 months. The subscription is $10/month.
Might be a cute camera system to watch your dog on, or chat with your friendly neighbor when you aren't home. However, if you are purchasing this for security reasons: pay the extra dime for a better brand.
It is not worth the subscription costs to capture dozens of videos of an empty porch AFTER somebody has swiped your packages and walked away.

1. The live view is terribly slow, the feeds takes more than 1 minute to show up on my phone. I have a 600+ mbps wifi speed. And my Eufy doorbel camera's live feed shows up instantly.
2. The wide angle view is too wide and hence trying to set up the motion zone without picking unwanted areas is totally useless. I missed the deadline to return, while I was trying to give it a chance and me trying to change the wifi settings to see if the live feed lag would improve.

-The huge FAIL on all of these Blink products is the worthless motion sense. This one simple oversight in design has made an otherwise awesome product not only worthless but useless.
The max range for the motion sense to activate on all of it is maybe 8 feet away. By the time the light turns on its too late, you’re pretty much past the light already even though the lights will light up a good 100 feet out.
By the time the motion sense activates the camera, 6’-8’ away, what ever would be in view of the camera is either already right at the camera or past it. The camera can view in great detail further and better than most high end cell phone cameras, but its all worthless if it isn’t turned on till something is already right at or past the camera already.
There is absolutely no excuse what so ever for this major design oversight by putting such a great product together and then completely failing on the quality of the motion sense. The motion sense is like the heart or brain of the entire product. Its like building by hand a high end sports car with no expenses spared, then installing a 1 HP outboard boat motor under the hood.
We have motion sense outdoor lights on our RV that we paid $15 for and they work flawlessly. At max sensitivity they sense motion over 40 feet away, they also never false trigger by moths flying in front of them, spiders climbing on them or leaves blowing.
Why would Blink not of designed this with better motion sensors?????????

The camera quality is just okay. Microphones are pretty good.
Camera always misses the actual movement that set it off and starts recording about 4 seconds later. Looks like people appear out of thin air on the camera. Camera will sense movement as people approach the door but only begins recording after they have left, or will appear as though they just materialized out of thin air on the top step.
If somebody vandalizes your door or steals a package from you, you will not see it on the camera. It will only start recording after the event has happened that the person is gone, leaving you with dozens of videos of an empty stoop.
THIS IS NOT A FREE SERVICE. IF YOU DON'T PAY A SUBSCRIPTION, YOUR CAMERA WILL STOP WORKING. All of their ads say that you can use basic features without a subscription plan- this is not true. Your camera will stop taking videos after 2 months. The subscription is $10/month.
Might be a cute camera system to watch your dog on, or chat with your friendly neighbor when you aren't home. However, if you are purchasing this for security reasons: pay the extra dime for a better brand.
It is not worth the subscription costs to capture dozens of videos of an empty porch AFTER somebody has swiped your packages and walked away.

detailedReviews 125: content: Blink cameras have been known for their extended battery life and in all honesty, I am quite surprised at how much this does with just 3 AA batteries. This doorbell works if you have one to replace or not. You can literally put a doorbell camera anywhere you want to. It is super simple to set up, install the app, plug up the sync module, pop in some batteries, run through the steps in the app, a couple screws to mount your preferred bracket, snap it in place and you are up and running. Instantly get access to motion notifications and while on the trial of the plus plan, also person alerts.
However, this is where the down side for me comes in. If you are going to use Blink, you might as well use multiple Blink cameras because they are nearly useless without the subscription or Sync Module 2. You don’t get access to any recordings, you only get motion notification or ring notifications, not if a person was detected. You can’t even do live view recordings, which at least some other apps let you do that as it records to your phone. Live view becomes extremely short and you have no idea what you have missed. The reason I say multiple cameras is because then you can use the subscription service for all of them. But, if this is your one and only camera, the basic plan will cover it cheaper than the plus plan, but then you also don’t get the extended warranty option. So, it is like get 3+ devices to make it worth it, or none at all. I really don’t like how limiting wireless cameras are these days with their plans.
However, with that said, while on the trial for the plus plan, it has been quick to recognize and notify me of person or motion detection, despite sometimes the motion being a person just not facing the camera. The fisheye lens makes for a huge coverage area, even up close. Two way audio is good to hear on the phone, but pretty faint outside. One thing that is missing out is if you don’t have an Alexa device or a wired doorbell, you will ONLY hear a notification from your device that gets the Blink notifications, like your phone. With it connected to your Amazon account and an Alexa speaker, you will hear a doorbell chime of your choice and “Someone is at your Blink doorbell”. The sync module that it is included with is just for connecting to WiFi.
Overall, the doorbell camera is not bad so long as you are willing to pay the monthly subscription and you are all in on the Blink system. Linked with Alexa and multiple cameras or other devices, you start to round out your added monthly cost over time. Without the subscription, it does become less effective but still at least notifies you of motion, allows 2 way communications and functions as a wireless doorbell to your phone or speaker.

It should be noted that Blink and its big brother are both owned by the same company and Blink is considered the more budget little brother. Their offerings are more focused to a handful of products and cheaper. Imagine my surprise when I set up the doorbell and the charge to save recordings and have all the juicy features is the same $100/yr that I currently pay for my camera plan. This is for unlimited devices, or $3/mo for the one doorbell. It does include a 30 day trial.
First thing I noticed was the cheap feel of the plastic. It doesn’t click in to its bracket as nicely as the other brand. And there’s no security screw, it’s just a flat tab retention clip to release the camera. And my biggest issue with it is that it is FULLY battery powered. Included are 3 lithium AA batteries for “up to 2 years” but the only thing my existing wiring is for is activating my chime. It cannot charge the unit nor can the unit work with the batteries not installed, I tried.
Also, maybe my biggest pet peeve with this is you need to install a sync module. And it’s on a USB-C cord so it’s not like you can just plug it directly into the wall and let it sit there like my smart lock module. Only reason I gave it three stars is because it’s relatively inexpensive. But it doesn’t seem to be worth the headache vs a more robust solution.
I’ll leave it up for now but I’ll probably end up buying a replacement unit for my existing doorbell that died and keeping this one as a portable temporary camera for when I need it I guess. I would only recommend this if you are looking for something very cheap, only need the battery install, and are either on the ecosystem or are willing to pay the extra three dollars a month.

I had to try a bunch of different places on my porch to get it to record anything motion triggered(other than the door it was on opening), and it is still unreliable. At this point Ive rubberbanded the old one together because it’s motion detector seems to work much better and I need a camera that actually records motion. I hope they do a firmware update or something to fix this. Works fine if doorbell button is pressed, great image quality, but I’m very irritated that it struggles so much with motion detection based on positioning that was never a problem for the old version.

Even worse setting this thing up was a nightmare.
You can get a better system for the same price elsewhere which I've had to do.

Will be checking for longer lasting devices, but at this price point most people will benefit from Blink. Tech Support advises there are weather proofing cases you can use to cover it. Would rather have a regular doorbell and find outdoor weather sturdy cameras instead.

Why I chose Blink: I wanted one that can be wired to my doorbell and ring the doorbell inside my house, which this Blink one does. I was also happy to see that I can store my videos using the Sync Module and a USB thumb drive. It does offer a subscription plan to store videos to the cloud but I don't want to pay for a subscription every month.
The directions to install the doorbell were very detailed. However, I was disappointed that there aren't any directions on how to actually use the App and how to save the videos from the Sync module to the USB drive. I had to figure out how to navigate through the App on my own. I didn't find it user friendly.
After the first three days, my video stopped working and the App said that my expensive lithium batteries were dead. I contacted Blink Support and they said to return my doorbell (which I had to uninstall) and they sent me a replacement, (which I had to re-install). This one has been working well so far and it's been a few weeks.

There are foggy spots on the doorbell camera that never go away. If you try & set the areas to cut down on how much the doorbell records, forget it because then it doesn’t record much of anything & I’ve tried a ton of different settings. So it’s all or nothing.

Trying to get the doorbell to work with your inside chimes is pointless because it doesn’t work. So forget about that!

At first, this seemed like a really good deal, since we wanted a doorbell camera that we could use local USB storage without monthly fees....which it does, after using the free trial of the online subscription for a month.
Pros:
1. Yes it stores video clips locally to USB.
Sync module is easy to use and provides doorbell chime as indicated.
2. Video quality is good, night vision=not bad if you set it correctly.
3. Granular control over detection zones.
4. Very price competetive.
Cons:
1. Without the online subscription, using ANYTHING from the local USB is sloooooooooooooooow. Once the thing says motion is detected, it takes almost 30 seconds to actually see what's on the camera. A burglar could set off the camera, break in, kill us, steal two TV's and our cat, and drive away before anyone can see what's on the camera feed!!!
2. Even blocking out zones with granular feed, it still triggers motion in these zones all the time....so what's the point?
3. To get good enough night vision, motion sensitivity, etc. to be of any use, it burns through batteries like crazy, which ups the cost of use.
4. Now just around a year old, it's starting to act up so that we have to reboot the module at LEAST once a week, sometimes more to get it to record clips of the motion it's detecting, making it extremely unreliable if we want to go on vacation.
Overall, it was inexpensive, and is better that the piece of junk Wuuk doorbell system it replaced, and one of the only "name brand" doorbell cams that does NOT require an expensive monthly subscription, so I dunno whether to tell you this is worth it or not .
For people like me that need some sort of doorbell, want to get into the video doorbell game on the cheap, skip monthly subscriptions, and don't mind constantly griping about the one you bought, I suppose this is the one for you.

You could have more than one camera activate and record to your hub usb stick. The picture quality is good, the battery lasts a reasonable amount of time yet is expensive to replace as they use the most expensive aa batteries. The speakers for talking back are poor, they fail and crackle after a few years. The installation is easy, as is the setup. However, our BT hub just couldn't hack the traffic and I had to buy a 2nd router and side link it to it. (This made the overall setup hard) The app in 2021 was very good, fully featured. In 2021 the only reason to have the subscription was to remove the worry of someone breaking in and taking the memory stick with the evidence on. So fast forward to 2024, greed and zero care for the consumer has set in. No longer can you record from live view without a subscription, no longer can you have more than one camera record without a subscription. App features are ripped out, slapped in and moved to subscription only without care or warning. Why, greed, pure and simple greed. Now, without the subscription, it is a security camera system with massive vunerable issue's. It makes having a wired system with a hard drive attached look more attractive and the competitors do it far better. So in 2024 this system is bin fodder at best, unless you want to be at the mercy of a company as bent as a round about. This is an honest and acurrate review, once loved, now hated system. Good luck.

Video is pretty clear. It does have some serious lag if you are viewing remotely (Your WIFI, your ISP, your digital ISP, your device) and it can take forever to download a clip from your control box without the cloud subscription, but it does work.
The doorbells can be finicky and quit working for absolutely no reason. This requires removing all powered doorbell wires and the batteries, counting to twenty, and putting it all back together. If you are away from home, you are out of luck.
But for the price, it is a good starter kit.

I tried customer service twice and their messages back to me were cryptic and asked me to take so many steps. I may end up having to return this lemon.

Connection is great all over the house and to other outside blink cams. But this doorbell is just faulty and looses connection easily. I even had a replacement sent out and it was the same problem. When I call and explain some of the reps can be rude and mute you constantly with out saying anything. They will tell you that your connection is bad eventhough the app will tell you that your connection is strong to all devices with the blink sync module and your own internet is strong. I wish I could return this so badly, even for a store credit. I would never buy this product again. I regret buying this so much because it such a hassle. Listen to the people here and don't buy this thing because when it goes wrong, it goes wrong. Save your receipt! Save the box! Send it back!

What I like: price, value and simplicity.
What I do not like: Poor image quality. Do not let the sharp colorful image on the Blink product box full you. This is not a 2K or 4K doorbell. Does not have head to toe image option.
Do not install camera facing bright light. Camera lens cannot be adjusted for bright light. Person walking up to the camera with the bright light source behind them will make them appear dark. Best to mount camera of to the side away from direct bright light. When the button is pushed by the visitor, there is a slight lag of the notice and image to load on your phone. It is not immediate. The motion detection will be activated by anyone that walks past your house, including a car's headlights. This is an issue because it activates the camera and places video clips on your phone. This motion feature should have adjustment capabilities available to set its sensitivity.
If you want something sharper, clearer and more robust then you need to spend more money on a camera that is 2K or 4K capable, and with more adjustability.

No bell, no video, no voice … nothing. I changed batteries as directed. No luck. WiFi and power were not the issue. And, if it were batteries, why would I need to change a lithium battery everyday. This item in my opinion was not worth the trouble. I am not calling customer support daily for reboots.

I have to remove and reinstall the sd card on the app to reconnect. Changing the battery, the clips break easily but I bought a protective case this fits in so I didn't have to throw it away. Customer service will replace the bracket so they are good but if the clip is broken on the unit (as is my case) the bracket is useless. The case solved that problem altogether and makes changing the batteries easier. I've had this for over a year and the original batteries lasted a long time but now it constantly shows a weak battery warning on the app. I've changed the batteries quite a few times with different brands but this is just something I've learned to live with. All and all I'm satisfied and happy that I can see activity in front of the house when I'm not there. I can't compare it to other similar devices as this is the only one I've ever had and it seems to do the trick at a good price point.

I also appreciated the link to Alexa and her announcements. What I didn’t like: it was difficult for me to connect to wifi, Alexa, my smart phone, I had to go back through the steps multiple times. I am older (not super tech savvy) and I have slight hearing loss. I found the Blink doorbell was not loud enough to warn me immediately, I had to wait for my smart phone to alert me. I think it is important to research the capabilities of each product and prioritize your needs. I wanted to replace an old standard doorbell. I wasn’t looking for a monitoring system or another monthly charge. I chose to go with the basic eufy video doorbell. Mainly because it was loud enough to hear the actual doorbell but I also am able to record and save video without a monthly fee.

I didn't have the setup for a wired doorbell, so I had to opt for the batteries. Setup was easy used mounting tape. At first, I used the batteries that came with the doorbell, which were the alkaline batteries. For the first two weeks, it was great no issues. The videos were clear. I have a lot of traffic in my neighborhood, so a lot of videos were recorded. After a few days, the batteries died. Switched them out for Duracell batteries, which only lasted two days. Read online to use lithium batteries only lasted for 7 days. Took it back, not sure if it was a defective item or not, didn't want to go through the hassle with the same problem.

Doesn't have live feature unless you get a notification and you open it right away. Ring notifications are received on the phone like in more than 5 seconds and another 5 or more seconds to see who's at the door. Difficulty with communication. I tried to return it when I still had 5 more days but Target said my return perid was expired. Do not recommend to buy it.

The camera frequently goes offline and you have to pop the doorbell off in order to reset it. So in this regard, it is annoying to have to go through this to reset it, but the camera is useless when offline. And if you are not home to reset it, then it is not doing what it is intended to do.
Spend the extra money to get a different brand.

They also state the doorbell will work with your existing wired chime. However, I found this was not the case. It need 16V to power with the wires, and I have 24v at the connection and it still says it will have to work on battery and cannot work wired. Also, while connected to the wires, it constantly sounded my wired chime and would not stop.
Camera has good video resolution but will not always catch what is going by as it seems to be delayed in recording when triggered. Overall serves the purpose, but wish it didn't have the issues we have encountered.

I should’ve listened to my gut and bought something a little nicer. Lesson learned. Works with nonissues for 2 days, then issues, then I fix them and it works again, and then it fails again a few days later to save any clips on my local storage.

Once the batteries needed replacing, a long customer service call determined there was something wrong with the unit itself, apparently, so they were good enough to send me a replacement, but another long customer service call we never could get it to work and it also took down my home wifi so I had to get that fixed. I went out earlier today and bought an old fashioned doorbell again for $5.99 and for the first time in months I now know if somebody’s at my door. Save your money.

I needed to purchase the vertical wedge separately because I couldn’t see below waste level on my front porch. It would be nice if both side and vertical wedges were included. Better yet, an adjustable camera angle via the app would be best, but that would likely drive up the price. Worst of all is the video quality. Most objects are red or red tinted. My front lawn looks rust colored. Perhaps my camera is faulty. I’ve contacted support and waiting for a response.

Other than that it does not record. You can only go back to watch recordings, which once again is only motion activated if that feature is turned on. You can watch live but for only for a minute then it times you out. If you watch live on one camera, you can not switch to another camera right away. It takes a bit before you can switch cameras.
Would be so much better of it continously recorded, or at least offered that feature to be turned on. Would also be great if you could watch live for longer.

Buyers beware that if you have recently been recommended this Blink doorbell / camera system then it may not work as anticipated because the functionality has recently been drastically downgraded by it's parent company.
Several features originally included as standard (such as recording!) are now not available unless you subscribe to the cloud storage plan, rendering this system almost useless unless all you want to do is Live View, in which case it's just a very expensive peep-hole.
We initially chose Blink over its competitor because no subscription was necessary, all you needed was the Sync Module 2 (no USB needed) to be able to record, store approx 30 days worth of clips in the cloud, view thumbnails, and periodic photo capture. We bought the doorbell specifically to give us extra peace of mind.
If you want to purchase this doorbell just ensure you can afford the pricey monthly or yearly plan on-top of the cost of the devices or you'll be sorely disappointed.
Even more dissatisfied are the customers that have been happily using all features of this Blink camera and doorbell system for years. To have these features suddenly revoked unless we pay extra doesn't sit right with me.

HOWEVER, by the time a motion alert sounds off, the video feed takes so long to load that the person is gone before I see who it was. If it loads at all. Commonly, my load times for live video are anywhere from 20 seconds to two minutes. Apparently there is a router setting that you can adjust on some routers to improve (not fix) this: set beacon interval to less between 150 and 200 and set DTIM to 10 if it's lower. Unfortunately, on a Giga Hub, there is no way to adjust those settings. Buyer beware. Oh, and btw, Amazon (who owns Blink) has turned off reviews for the Blink video doorbell. Wonder why...?

But, here are the 2 biggest flaws with this product.
1. The live view is terribly slow, the feeds takes more than 1 minute to show up on my phone. I have a 600+ mbps wifi speed. And my Eufy doorbel camera's live feed shows up instantly.
2. The wide angle view is too wide and hence trying to set up the motion zone without picking unwanted areas is totally useless. I missed the deadline to return, while I was trying to give it a chance and me trying to change the wifi settings to see if the live feed lag would improve.
