And when I got off the plane, it still had almost 30% power left, which really surprised me because typically when you hear things about crazy long battery life, you don't really see that in reality., So, the battery life is absolutely insane.

London Pon doesn't quite sound so loud in the background I'm also getting a few looks because why is this guy walking through the station holding a MacBook Air in front of him well it's for you guys so that's voice isolation and that's standard mode love it the USBC ports the two of them here on now Thunderbolt 4 up from Thunder 3 so they have a higher Max Speed but as well as that this for the first time can actually support two external monitors as well as the screen previously with the M1 and the M2 you could have one separate screen with the M3 last year you could have two external screens but with this lid closed now you can have two external screens and the laptop lid open so three displays in total now and we also now get 16 GB of memory or Ram as standard until now it's been just 8 GB well they did actually update last year's M3 about halfway through the life cycle um giving it 16 and standard they did that across the whole range but this is the first time we have a new Macbook Air which comes fresh out of the box with 16 gigs which is actually really good news because I've always maintained eight isn't really enough especially if you're going to hang on to this for the next you know 3 four 5 6 years or so and also with apple intelligence which uses some memory so now your only questions are what color do you want to go for also do you still want to spend a couple hundred extra to double the storage to 512 I would probably say Yes again if you're going to have this for a long time and also do you want the 13in or the 15in and all that for $999 same in the UK and the US and that's 100 less than last year's M3 started out they had the discounted M2 series starting at this price but they've simplified it the M2 is gone the M3 is gone now the M4 starts at $999 so not only is this faster and better but it's also cheaper apple is really trying hard to convince you to buy a new iPhone and new iPad a new Macbook to get their fancy new Apple intelligence but the fact is the 2020 M1 MacBook Air also supports Apple intelligence is anything with an M series chip on iPads or MacBooks that will support it and while there are some Nifty features like the writing tools which can summarize and rewrite your emails and notes particularly handy for those long voice memos you took during that meeting or presentation where you can quickly turn a wall of text into a few concise bullet points Siri is also slightly less useless especially now as it has tgbt integration image playground is well I don't really know what this is meant for right now it's not a reason to upgrade but then it will get better with time and it doesn't get in the way and Mac OS aoia is still fantastic to use every day especially with new additions like iPhone mirroring which I use all the time also hands off to Apple's Engineers because while the MacBook Air is a very nice laptop we've got similar form factors and designs and actually some better laptops from the windows side once transformed the Mac over Last 5 Years is the M series of processors from the M1 then the M2 three another four the fact that Apple make the chip that goes into the laptop that runs their software that vertical integration means you just can't beat this level of optimization it's telling that the M1 air from 2020 is still so good there hasn't really been a good enough reason to upgrade although I think maybe now with the M2 the M3 the M4 refreshes it's probably worth trading it in to get one of these shiny new on but just how much faster is it compared to last year's M3 we're looking at about a 20 to 22 2% optic in the processor and about a 12% boost in graphics and if we fire up death stranding it's about 10% faster full HD and 15% faster at Quad HD it's a reasonable gen on gen upgrade but I wouldn't Chuck your M2 or M3 in the bin to buy one of these however what you might want to do is upgrade from an M1 because it's 56% faster in single core 70% faster in multicore and 73% faster in graphics and in practice we're actually seeing an even bigger upgrade 87% faster in full HD and over twice as fast at Quad HD playing high end games like death stranding is a pretty horrible experience on the M1 but it's lovely and smooth on the M4 my takeaway is that no it's not worth upgrading from either the M2 or the M3 but if you're still rocking an M1 or something even older than that then yeah I think Now's the Time how does it stack up to its Rivals well running on battery which I think is a reasonable test of these thin and light laptops versus the latest Snapdragon X Elite and also the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chips the M4 Beats them both by a healthy margin in this geekbench processor test there's obviously a lot more Nuance to this but I'll save that for a proper comparison video stay tuned for that one nothing beats that new Macbook smell the classic Mac chime as it boots up there's no ugly stickers you can open up with one finger and while of course there are some beautiful Windows Rivals you've got this Snapdragon powered onor magic book art 14 the Intel power to susen book S14 both 120 HZ OLED displays I might add putting the MacBook screen to shap shame but out of these three which do you think looks the best I also know as an everyday MacBook Pro user that this fresh keyboard and touchpad will not stay fresh for very long some people never seem to have this issue but I always find after a month or two those pesky greasy stains start to emerge the 13in air is definitely one of the better sounding laptops you can buy with its four speaker system that is until you put it next to the six speaker with Force cancelling woofers on its bigger 15in brother just listen to the difference [Music] I really do like the 15 it is about 20% heavier 300 G or so and it is 200 quid more expensive but then you're getting a 10 core GPU a standard rather than eight the speakers are significantly better and having a good 25% more screen space really does make it feel feel less cramped especially if you're not planning to hug this up to an external monitor also this staright may just be my favorite color you've also got silver the new sky blue which is kind of silver anyway and midnight now if you're thinking should I get the air or pay a little bit extra for the pro well since Apple dropped the starting price of the M4 a by 100 it'll now cost you 600 more to get the base 14in Pro you do get double the storage and also the same 10 core Graphics as you get in the 15in air a fan of course so even though it's it's the same chip it can sustain high performance for longer you can spec it much higher if you need extra horsepower you also get that bigger brighter sharper faster and more colorful mini LED screen and then there's this nanotexture option I have here to reduce Reflections and glare you also get decently longer battery life more ports of course a third USBC full size SD and an HDMI 2.1 the pro speakers are even better but it's thicker it's heavier it's at least 600 lb more which gets you basically the same chip unless you step it up to the M4 Pro or the max it's hard to justify paying 60% more so this new M4 a doesn't do anything drastically different and it has the same shortcomings as the previous generations notably the screen I mean it's fine the colors are nice it's 500 nits and the M2 series did actually significantly upgrad the screen from the M1 but it's not changed since then but it is a 2025 laptop that starts at £1,000,000 and you still getting a 60 HZ IPS screen pretty much every other uh Windows laptop in this category at this price point will give you that smoother 120 HZ and probably an OLED screen as well so in terms of the display I think Apple could do better here there's also still no 5G connectivity option which some of the Windows laptops offer although of course if you want that you could get an iPad and also for like the third fourth year in the road there's been no change to battery life it's not a problem Apple still quote at about 18 hours uh and it will easily get you through a full day this is not a complaint about battery life but again with Windows laptops powered by Intel and AMD we've seen some pretty big gains in the battery La department and it would be nice to see apple do something similar with the MacBook but these are all sort of minor is complaints I don't think for my money at least there is a better allround laptop combining this design with the keyboard and touchpad and this form factor the performance with the M4 paired with that battery life for $999 and 100 quid less than that if you have a student or I think military discount there are many things Windows PCS do better proper gaming customization upgradeability better specs in some cases especially with displays but at the end of the day for most of us it's Mac and Apple's lovely and warm ecosystem that makes the MacBook Air the single most popular laptop in the world snippets: However, for more mundane day-to-day tasks, it feels almost the exact same as this M2 MacBook Air., They're both very snappy and open almost everything instantly, and it's the same if you turn on the low power mode., But still, the performance gain on paper is pretty insane., They somehow made it over 20% faster than the M3 in both single and multi-core performance., Plus, the GPU is 7% faster as well., That's a pretty huge generational gain, which begs the question, can the Air now replace the MacBook Pro and do things like editing?, Well, since it's fanless, it very much depends on the ambient condition., The numbers above are all done in a 75 Fahrenheit room in the shade., And in this condition, just editing some 4K footage with some effects doesn't cause it to thermal throttle at all., So, as long as you have enough RAM, the M4 MacBook Air is very snappy and it feels just as good as my M3 Max MacBook Pro in most cases., But the rendering speed is obviously no match., And if you look at this 20-minute gaming benchmark loop, the performance does decrease as the MacBook Air heats up more., So, it could take a bit longer to render longer videos., However, even when the M4 MacBook Air is thermal throttling, it's still faster than the M2 MacBook Air under optimal conditions., Plus, if you put a little fan to it, you can almost prevent thermal throttling altogether., So, for the typical social media video editor, is the MacBook Pro pointless then?, Well, not quite., Because since the Air can only dissipate heat by radiating it away slowly through its chassis, in the hotter environment, it can really struggle., Here's another run of the same gaming benchmark loop, but now the MacBook Air is under direct sunlight., You can see it slow down more and much quicker., And this is still in a semi-fed room., So, it can very much be worse if you're in a hotter room or if you're outside., Plus, the MacBook Pro is still just the nicer computer in most ways., Aside from the screen, the MacBook Pro can last even longer and has probably the best laptop speaker there is, but those are mostly nice to haves, and the Air can get most things done just fine., Overall, this is one of the best updates for a MacBook Air recently., It's hard to beat the price toerformance ratio., It's probably not worth upgrading from an M2, but anything older, I think you'll be surprised by how much more capable this is.

It was very much needed., We need I need it for the transfer speeds, especially when I bring this thing on set., However, the con that I experienced after just using this non-stop is it really would have been nice if they were going to really limit us to these two Thunderbolt 4 ports if maybe they could have swapped where the headphone jack is right here and put a headphone jack maybe on this bottom port and then put another Thunderbolt 4 port right here to split them up because sometimes the devices I'm using, they're a little chunky and it may cover one of the other ports., But if the other port was on this side, wouldn't be a big deal. Also, it helps for charging. Sometimes just wherever I am, I have a small space and I need to be able to plug in power to this side of the computer and not where the MagSafe port is or where the other Thunderbolt 4 port is here. I want to be able to do it here.

Is the 256 GB SSD enough?, And honestly, 215 GB is enough in some situations., But it can be pretty tight because everything else needs to go on an external SSD., Now, the downside of an external drive is don't underestimate how much of a pain in the ass it is to constantly uh, you know, plug it in, unplug it, accidentally disconnect it when moving your MacBook around, losing or misplacing the external drive, or maybe even pets chewing on the cable, etc., In my opinion, I think the 512 GB or the 1 TBTE SSDs are pretty decent options depending on how many frequently accessed files you have., But yeah, if you can avoid having to carry around an external drive all day every day, uh, it's definitely worth spending a little bit more now to not have to deal with that., Side note, the 512 GB SSD is also noticeably faster than the 256 GB SSD.

Everyone knows how good it is, so i don't have to add anything... although i would like to add , when i didn't have a MacBook, i thought apple products are so good and i desparately saved money for buying this product...it works so good, animations, battery backup, gestures, sound quality, connection, ecosystem features(overhyped by youtubers); but I don't know why i tend to come back to my windows 11 laptop, i don't know...its been one week or so , and i am already bored with the obsession i had for macbook...now i feel like windows had something, that something i cannot live without... Also i have hidden the apple logo on the back of my laptop with stickers, so my uni mates can't distinguish between my old dell laptop and this one ( i hate attention to be honest)...when you can realize that the macbook is not your necessity but your mere desire to attain popularity, you would achieve nirvana... I had a friend whose brother bought a macbook air by desparately requesting his father that he needed for his college work; two days ago I visited his home and saw his brothers macbook accumulating dust in the corner of a table, so i decided to blow the dust away and turn it on, and was shocked to see that not a single settings nor a single app was changed or installed or modified and it is two years old(M2 mb air):: funfact::the brother is persuing BCA... So all that power of m2 just wasted...so it is my humble request to anyone considering to buy it, please assess your need before buying, just don't make some rash decissions influenced by your peers or youtubers or influencers...You may feel now that you have a need for it, but after buying it you realise that there is nothing much you can achieve with it compared to the windows laptop you already have at your disposal...why i am saying all this is that, i see no superior benefit to that of my dell laptop...but if your goal is to only seek attention, then go right ahead, don't bother...
