As one who do not like to take meds I quit taking it when I moved to Ohio, but when I continuted to have upper respiration infections due to draining sinuses I knew it was time to return to Zyrtec, especially now that I have a compromised immune system. I still think Zyrtec is wonderful as it does the job. It makes me drowsy so I take it a couple of hours before bedtime. I sleep better now because I'm not kept awake by chronic draining sinuses. It is the absolute best allery med I have taken, and other than drowsiness I have no side effects. As for the reviewer that felt it was "dangerous" because it was made in Belgium I checked the country of origin from the bottle I purchased at Target, and guess what, it is made in Belgium also. I agree with another reviewer who expressed the FDA is not necessarily concerned about our health. I have taken doses from the bottle purchased through Amazon, and it works just the same as the bottle purchased at Target. Except for count the information on both bottles are the same, and the pills and the bottles look exactly the same. A lot of items purchased in the USA are manufactured in other countries, and medication is no exception. Because there were separate bottles from different manufacturers with different expiration dates (as one reviewer related) does not raise an alarm bell for me. As long as the product does what is expected and causes no harm I am satisfied. Zyrtec works - for me. Other allergy meds gave me heart palpitations, so I'm sticking with Zyrtec. People react differently to medications, so use the one that works best for you. For me, that med is Zyrtec.

My youngest son is now 17 years old and has always suffered greatly with allergies and sinus issues. His pediatrician 1st started him on liquid Zyrtec when he was in elementary school. As he got older he transitioned into the little pills. During elementary and middle school years, he only had to take the medication during a flareup. But now it seems the older he gets his symptoms have got a little worse to manage. The Zyrtec still works amazing for him. It is just now that he has to take it every single day. But as long as he has it in his system he is all good. Please be aware that each one of us is completely different and what may work for us in an amazing way may not work for someone else. Also be aware of your own symptoms and if you are not improving do not keep using the Zyrtec as a Band-Aid affect. I know firsthand, how you have to be on top of it because the allergy problems can quickly turn into actual sinus infections very easily. I pray that this information helps someone out there. ❤️

I’ve tried Nasacourt, Claritin, Pseudoephedrine, however, I’ve been taking this Zyrtec allergy medicine for about 2 in half weeks now, and it’s helped me SO much. I felt like I had chronic pressure and would take ibuprofen or Tylenol to help the pain, but being consistent with this, has reduced my pressure amazingly. I don’t have to hold my forehead or be bedridden with throbbing pain. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to find any solution, but this has been a holy grail for me so far. Thank you Zyrtec!! I always break the tablet in half because that is usually all it takes to work. When symptoms are more severe, I take a whole. Now, I do believe the effects of Zyrtec not only work immediately, but they also have a cumulative affect, so if you know your allergies get bad during certain seasons, using Zyrtec will keep symptoms in check. When I take my first tablets for the season, I tend to get sleepy, so I take them at night. What I find, however, is that I find myself groggy the whole next day. This effect wears off about a week in of taking them. This doesn't happen with everyone. I just happen to be one of those types easily affected this way. This is a good allergy pill for people with asthma/hard time breathing. It is usually my first course of action. Half of a zyrtec, and it never fails to provide me with relief within 30 minutes. Tightness in the chest loosens up, and I feel more relaxed once I am able to breath better. I sometimes couple this with Flonase, but that's another review. Disclaimer, I am not a doctor. The only negative that I have about Zyrtec is the price.When Zyrtec was still a prescription drug, my health insurance paid almost the total cost of Zyrtec. I paid Five dollar co-pay. Now I am paying as much as $35.00 per bottle of Zyrtec. I do not understand how the medical companies can charge such a high price for such a necessary and important medication. My allergies are.. on a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being low, 10 being crippling) a solid 5.
I read the directions where it says not to take more than 2 in a 24 hour period. I took mine as soon as I woke up. I chill at home for about an hour (to allow it to work) and then go about my day sneezing, sniffling, blowing my nose, and feeling abysmal.

I can take the Equate and drive my car and go about my normal day without feeling loopy. Equate Allergy Relief serves me well. I purchased the Zyrtec because it was recommended to me by my ENT to relieve my sinus pressure in hopes that it would relieve my ear ringing. I still have ear ringing, periodically, and I'm sticking with the Equate brand.

At first, my allergies didn't seem so bad. But after about 2 weeks of exposure to him, I became deathly allergic. Constant phlegm in my throat, my tonsils were swollen, I would not be able to breathe when lying down during sleep, my nose was constantly stuffy and drippy. I sneezed incessantly to the point where it was physically very painful to sneeze. I even woke up with constant pink eye and if I ever came even close to touching my face, my eyes would become extremely irritated, red, teary, and inflamed. I cannot stress how miserable I was. But I didn't want to give up my cat, except after 2.5-3 weeks I started to give up and considered giving him back up for adoption. But then I decided to try out Zyrtec. Now I've never taken allergy meds in my life so I was apprehensive and skeptical to say the least. I don't take meds for anything and I've never been known to have allergies or any breathing problems. But once I started taking Zyrtec, I'm telling you, I felt normal again. I finally felt like I wasn't dying anymore. ALL of my symptoms went away, except maybe my tonsillitis, my tonsils have been swollen ever since I got my cat, which was about 5-6 weeks ago. I'm not sure why they're swollen, but they don't bother me and I don't notice any difference in breathing. Who knows, maybe they've always been this swollen and I just didn't realize, I don't really pay attention to my tonsils lol. But at least I don't notice it and I don't have any issues with breathing anymore at all. And my symptoms finally being gone is such a massive relief. No more sneezing, no more phlegm in my throat, NO MORE RED EYES. I can touch my eyes all I want and they won't get as inflamed as they did before. No more drippy nose, no more stuffy nose, the list goes on. And when I say no more, I really mean no more.The best part is it really DOES last for 24 hours, which is amazing. Maybe 23 hours if I'm to be exact, as I noticed in the final hour it starts to wear off. But I've been taking Zyrtec everyday (one tablet a day, no more is needed) ever since I bought it and I haven't felt any symptoms since. If you want even more relief from pet allergies, or whatever allergies you're dealing with, I would also STRONGLY suggest purchasing a Winix 5500-2 air purifier. That thing is AMAZING and made it SO much easier for me to breath. It's made me forget that I ever had issues to begin with.

It does help me go to sleep too . I am tired the next day though , dragging lately , but I hadn’t been taking it every night like I was for the past few months , my schedule has gotten way out of wack and my sleep schedule , so I’m trying to get back on track again , so when you go off of them and back on it regularly may make you more tired draggy feeling till you get back in the daily routine of taking them daily . Plus I have other issues so that don’t help either . But I highly recommend, I hate taking Benadryl, this is a lot better for sure !

This brand will say only 1% of the population suffers these side effects and that you should always consult a doctor before taking any medication. Your doctor will say try it. They don’t have a test for wether your hair will fall out! Here’s my suggestion: Sinus Complex by Planetary Herbals, just google it. It’s the strongest thing and even can knock a cold for me. The mucous in your lungs from allergies or cold/flu? It’ll clean that out too. Stop Zyrtec, stop the hair loss, just stop.

I did (it has been one year ago) but nothing has been done to address these issues. I still can't find a 5 mg dosage tablet or gel (only the children's syrup) on the market and the withdrawals continue. Don't start on this med as you will not be able to get off of it.
