I will say that I was expecting to be able to use the product to separate some of my ends into piece-y bits, or to fluff up/volumize at the root, but it doesn't seem to be made for that. I also don't feel this is the most hydrating oil--I thought it might moisturize my drier ends, but they weren't as hydrated as I expected from the product. This is the finishing touch I've been missing in my routine. Using volumizing products combined with heat styling can often leave me with some unwanted frizz and dryness, especially at the ends of my below-shoulder-length hair. I then heat-straightened my hair and I found, on straightening, my hair felt slightly oily/greasy on the top of my scalp. I did apply the oil over the whole of my hair. I maybe should have only applied it to the lengths of my hair. Overall, I would use again and would recommend to anyone wanting to control frizz especially on curls.

I find my hair can go an extra day or two between washes and for a busy mum constantly on the go it’s been a life saver. The outer bottle is glass and dispenses through a pump which is lockable.I have dry, frizzy, curly hair that requires a lot of moisture to look good. This hair oil does just that. In Summer, I spend more time in our pool. Luckily it's a mineral water pool which is less harsh on the hair and skin than traditional chlorine pools. When I get out of the pool I like to run some of this oil through my hair. It nourishes my hair and helps to control the frizz and keeps it looking healthy so at the end of Summer I know I wont be devastated about the damage done to my hair. It doesn't weigh my hair down or leave it looking greasy. Its generally recommended to apply hair oil to lengths and ends and avoid the roots but I get frizzy near my roots as well and around my hair line so I like to apply a minimal amount there too (but not directly to my scalp). So far, I have not had to worry about a greasy scalp.I don't wash my hair everyday but I allow the shower to dampen my hair slightly and I add some oil through (but it can be used on dry hair as well). So, sometimes I use it once a day and other days, I'm applying and re-applying more often. My hair is about shoulder length and amazingly I have not even used up a quarter of the bottle yet.Although its a very pricey hair oil there is a re-fillable option for the 75ml bottle which makes the cost of this oil easier to swallow. I'm not 100% sure I'd repurchase it due to the cost, maybe as a treat to myself every so often, but I definitely will be keeping the empty bottle so I can keep that cheaper refill option open. Saves so much room when packing, avoids me having to transfer product into a travel container and still allows me to have the pretty bottle to keep the tube in when I’m at home. I wish more companies would package their products like this!CONS:Smell / Fragrance – This truly comes down to personal preference. My mom and husband both thought my hair smelled amazing. However, I found the fragrance of this product to be very strong and overpowering, unfortuantely enough to give me a slight headache. I also tend to lean towards a more summery/fresh scent, and this product was definitely giving a deeper/rich smell.Limited Frizz Control – Someone with hair not as frizz-prone or dry as mine could probably get away with the level of frizz control this product gives. I loved how the elixir uptime used to work on my hair. I recently went on vacation and bought a travel sized container of the hair oil. My hair was sheer frizz- I was so upset and was thinking it was caused by many other reasons until I was going to order a new larger bottle and read the reviews only to find out the Elixir Ultime formula has changed. This is so disappointing. I surely will not purchase anymore of the newly reformulated product-it truly is awful at least for my fine hair. If you change it back to the old formula I will return but you have lost this customer with the new formula.

However, for those of us with fine hair - this new formulation of what used to be perfect for my hair not only weighs my hair down but it leaves it coated with something that appears to resemble oil. In other words, one doesn't want their hair to actually look like it's coated with oil when one uses a hair oil. If that makes any sense. But this one actually makes my hair oily, heavy, and, to be honest, not at all nice looking. Again, if I had very thick, dry hair, my guess is this would be wonderful. So perhaps this is just not for those of us with fine hair? Please bring back the original for us. Please?
