snippets: the charge 5 offers 20 easily a few days worth of listening no matter where you are combined with its higher wattage 40 watts compared to the flip 6 is 30 Watts not to mention a larger driver Tweeter and passive radiator it has that extra oomph advantage over smaller speakers again without having a massive enclosure thanks to hofman's iron law size is the first thing you'll have to sacrifice if it's booming base you're after if you want to actually rattle some windows you're going to need a bigger speaker, side note I do want to quickly mention that if you get an opportunity to crank up two charge fives and stereo I absolutely recommend it it makes a world of difference in room filling power and it allows you to hear the mix of your favorite Tunes the way it was meant to be heard in Stereo you got to try it sometime trust me, let's also quickly touch on the built-in battery bang since that's where the charge 5 gets its name I have to be perfectly honest I have never ever used this feature it wasn't a huge selling point for me because I've always owned several external battery packs I generally keep one in my backpack one in the camping bin so again showing its age it is a usba port it doesn't offer super fast charging but it will get you out of a pinch if you need it I'm sure whenever we see the charge six releas it'll be a USBC Port

snippets: so it's clear that the charge 5 holds its own after all these years holds its charge would you say right no don't put that in uh but there are a few things about this speaker that shows its age that might be a deal breaker for you even though it's mostly minor stuff naturally its Bluetooth version is now a little behind while newer refreshed JBL units like the new clip 5 and extreme 4 connect via Bluetooth 5.3 the charge 5 still uses Bluetooth 5.1 but that's not really the end of the world it still offers multi-point which which I use at home all the time without issue connecting it to my laptop and my phone at the same time
