items 3: content: The title may be a bit cliche, but it's true. These are the best in-ear headphones that I have ever used, and I have used quite a few in-ear headphones. These AirPods are small, light, and sound decent, but most importantly, they fit my ears! I apparently have such a unique ear shape that no other in-ear headphone I've ever tried fit well. I've tried the Apple AirPod Pros, the samsung buds pro, the sony xm something or others, the sennheiser buds, the anker soundcores, the JBLs, and a plethora of other in-ear headphones, but the AirPods 4 are the only set I've tried (aside the AirPods 2 that these are replacing) that actually fit and stay in my ear no matter what I'm doing. So that alone already makes them well worth the $210 that I paid, as I elected to also add the AppleCare+ to the headphones.
In addition, these headphones have some other nice features aside from being literally the only pair I'm able to use. Features like the in-ear detection (excellent), mic for calls (one of the best on the market; I'm able to be heard clearly no matter how windy it is), automatic switching between Apple Devices (a really neat party trick for my android family), Find My WITH speaker on the case (an actual lifesaver), wireless charging (surprisingly rare on other headphone models), and ANC! WOW! I was not expecting the noise cancelling to work at all, considering that these headphones do not make any kind of seal in my ear but I was so wrong! These headphones reliably cancel out fan/appliance droning, and reliably quiet down loud noises. It's not quite as good as the AirPod Pro 2's that I exchanged for this model, but it is so, SO much better than I was expecting for the design of the headphone.
The only complaint that I have with these headphones is that they only last about 4 hours, depending on the sound mode. That's not a lot of time, especially as the battery ages, hence why I got AppleCare+ on these headphones. My AirPods 2 (which these are replacing) can barely make it an hour now, even though they had a similar runtime when new. I'd highly recommend that you buy AppleCare+ with these headphones.
I highly HIGHLY recommend these headphones for anyone, but especially for other people with weird shaped ears like me. As far as I'm concerned, these are the only headphones on the market.

items 4: content: If, like me, you were never a fan of Airpods Pro because of the silicone tips, and weren't interested in the 3rd Gen Airpods because they didn't seem that different, THESE might be for you. I picked them up because I wanted to see how the shape, sound, and features were compared to my 2nd Gen Airpods (which I always thought were more than adequate for my everyday needs).
Needless to say, I am very happy with my decision. The sound quality on these is amazing. The shape takes a bit of getting used to, but is by no means uncomfortable or at risk of falling out. I was just used to the old school shape that Apple headphones have been forever (including the original Airpods). These are definitely wider and shorter. The controls are awesome, I definitely like pinching vs tapping. And the features (specifically transparancy and the ANC) are what elevate the whole thing to a 100% recommendation from me. I don't think it would be worth getting the 4th Gen here without the ANC.
I use Airpods when I mow the lawn, do yardwork, etc. Having ANC while using a lawnmower, or using a leafblower - without those goofy silicone tips - is an absolute game changer in my opinion.
So, in closing, if you already have the Pros, you can probably move on, BUT, if you have the 2nd Gen Airpods, and have been waiting for a worth successor/ upgrade, I really think these are it.

I've used AirPods since the first generation came out. Then upgraded to the new ones and then finally to AirPod Pros because those were the first ones that came out with ANC. But it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows with AirPods. I had more problems with them than any other headphone I ever owned. Luckily there was a solution: Beats Fit Pro. They were the cheaper AirPods Pro, had the wing tips for secure fits and had almost everything else the AirPods possessed. I had these for years, never any issues, my FAVOURITE IN EAR HEADPHONE of ALL TIME. That was until I learned about AirPods 4 with ANC.
Note I've only had them for maybe a week but I couldn't be more pleased with the ANC, how they sound, how they fit in my ear. Everything is a 5 Star!! These sound just as good as AirPods Pro and are cheaper so I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone wanting to purchase AirPods that don't break the bank. The Conversation Awareness feature on these is cool too. You no longer need to take out your headphone to have a conversation. Once you start talking, the music dims and you can hear every word that is said when having a chat. The comfort is there too, they don't make my ears sore like other headphones with the silicone tips like the Pros. I could just rave all day about these but I don't know what else to say except these are by far the best AirPods I have ever owned!

Now, everyone wants to know how transparency and noise cancelation is. Transparency is identical to my pro 2's. Noise cancelation is 90% as good as my pro 2's. There are more reviews coming out weekly on these and they will all say the same, for an open back earpiece these do an outstanding job of getting almost the same sound signature of the pro 2's in every way. For me, no silicone tips, outstanding sounds and battery life, these crushed my pro 2's and I sold them.

The sound quality is on par with the AirPods Pro and the while the ANC is not as good as the Pros, they are very effective for “open” buds. I would say that they are about 80% as effective at ANC as the Pros. The AirPods 4 have become my “to go” earbuds - even over the AirPods Pro. They are more comfortable (no more “plugs” in my ears) than the Pros, sound as good, and in most circumstances, the ANC is surprisingly effective. And finally, the battery life is as advertised. items 8: content: I am truly surprised by the AirPods 4 w ANC. I have been trying for years all different types of headphone and earphones and all somewhat meh. I have AirPods Pro 2 and they are good for sure, but the tips bug me after a few hours. I have never really been able to wear regular AirPods as they never fit right, surprisingly these fit amazing and actually, for me, have a better seal than the AirPods Pro 2 as I have never found a tip size or style that really fit right.
Fit and Comfort: Surprisingly amazing. I can wear them for hours with little to no ear fatigue or pain. They are very comfortable given they are plastic against your ears.
ANC: Surprisingly good! Are they as good as Air Pods Pro 2 or other "sealed" ones it depends on the noise. I went to a loud restaurant I frequent think a lot of people talking and fairly loud music etc and the APP2 drowned out a fair amount of noise but not all of it, I placed these in and in that environment they blocked almost all of the noise. Again I think this is due to the seal that my ears obtain with these but I was truly amazed. wasn't expecting that. They drown out AC but if there are multiple AC's going at the same time or a fan and AC some noise will slip through. So it depends on the noise and orientation of your head but for me they hav performed extremely well. I am kind of shocked given the technology I wasn't expecting much.
Overall: If you can do tips, then the APP2. are probably the better bet given the on ear controls, etc. But sound wise these are quite good, come with the Apple auto pairing and the ANC is pretty amazing. Is it perfect no, but what do you expect for the design? For me they are pretty great. If you don't like the seal these are probably the closest you can get to a nice experience. The other features like transparency and awareness and spatial are all APP 2 features and they work great as well.

I've owned several series of AirPods in the past, including the first and second iterations, and was all in on the AirPod Pros for their noise cancelling properties, which worked fantastic....until they didn't. Turns out, something with the AirPod Pros triggered severe allergic reactions in my ears which meant it was a a no go on any in-ear noise cancelling solution....which stinks as the over ear brands, while performing spectacularly, tend to take up more space in a back pack and can get uncomfortable when wearing glasses at the same time. So, when I head about the AirPod 4's with ANC and WITHOUT the silicone ear tips, I was cautiously optimistic. I've tried the Samsung ANC beans before and those left a ton to be desired in the ANC performance (I returned them), so i was skeptical that the AirPod 4 would be able to achieve any level of usable ANC. I have to say, I was way wrong. These things perform amazingly well in a variety of environments and do a more than adequate job of blocking outside noise, from a running vacuum around the house, to flying....the AirPods 4 hold up amazingly well and hold their own. I've tested several noisy environments with the AirPods 4 and my AirPod Max on ANC and while there is a difference in the performance between the two (as their should be), it is not in my estimation significantly appreciable of a difference. The biggest difference I'm noticed between the two is the battery life while using ANC. The Max will last through two full cross county flights, the AirPods, not so much...maybe one cross country flight. But nevertheless, color me impressed. Sound quality is an improvement over prior versions and I really like the ability to charge these wirelessly. My one complaint, and it applies to all versions of AirPods, when will we have the ability to paint them to more than one device at a time

I previously had been using AirPods 2nd Gen and had tragically lost the left earpiece in a Walmart parking lot (moment of silence for the airpod lost to the asphalt). Needless to say, there was a lot left to be desired in my listening experience with my singular right earpiece. These have been a *very* nice upgrade!
AirPods 4th Gen come with four levels of Noise Control:
-Off
-Transparency
-Adaptive
-Noise Cancellation
I primarily toggle between Transparency and Noise Cancellation. I currently find little difference between Transparency and Adaptive at the moment.
There are additional features of pressing and holding each earbud that you can customize for answering calls or playing/skipping music that are a little more expansive compared to the AirPods 2nd Gen.
I have never had noise canceling earbuds before and I don’t think I can ever go back. There are reviews remarking that the noise canceling quality on these earbuds is not as nice as the pros with the silicon tips (since the silicon tips help block out additional external noises). I do not personally find the earbuds with the silicon tips to be comfortable to wear and the noise canceling quality on these 4th Gen are plenty enough to meet my needs. I recently used my AirPods while traveling on an airplane and the noise canceling blocked out most of the airplane sound, though I could still make out the safety instructions at the beginning of the flight.
If you find that you are like me, that you desire noise canceling earbuds but find the silicon tipped earbuds uncomfortable, then the AirPods 4th Gen are for you!

I was intrigued when I saw the AirPods 4, since Apple added noise cancellation to them. My wife always preferred the fit of the original AirPods and could not get used to the AirPods Pro, although I love them. So I wondered if these new earphones would be a good solution for her. I actually ordered 2 pairs, one for her and one for me. After wearing them for a few days, we were both amazed at how good the noise cancellation is for earphones that don't seal in your ears. Is the noise cancellation as good as the AirPods Pro? No. But it is close, much better than I expected. If you're on the fence about whether or not to purchase the AirPods 4 with or without noise cancellation, I highly recommend this version with noise cancellation. It's worth the higher cost. My wife even took these on a flight recently, and the noise cancellation worked well enough for her to enjoy watching movies on her iPad. That's the ultimate test in my opinion. I plan to get these for my children later this year as a Christmas present, unless Apple comes out with an even newer version of course.

items 12: content: There are two ways to compare the AirPods 4 ANC. One way is as an upgrade from the AirPods 3 and the other is comparing to the AirPods Pro 2. Compared to the 3, these are a significant upgrade. Sound quality has improved, the case has additional features, and battery life is on par with the 3. The case itself is noticeably smaller. I find the fit to be excellent and I like these better than the silicon tips of the AirPods Pro 2. Features like ANC and Transparency mode are new to the baseline AirPods. Considering that these don’t have a tight seal, the ANC is quite good. External sounds can still be heard, but are considerably muted…especially if the sound is a steady.
Comparing to the AirPods Pro 2, the Pros have much better active noise cancellation, will have the ability to act as hearing aids, and the sound quality is slightly, but noticeably better. The controls on the Pros are more robust. The battery life of the Pros is better by about an hour or so. But the AirPods 4 ANC is more comfortable to wear for long periods of time for me. After an hour or so, I find the silicon tips to be a little irritating.
I am very happy with the acquisition of my AirPods 4 ANC and I wear them in low volatility noise situations with great delight!

I’m one of those old techy guys who does a lot of research and reading reviews prior to pulling the trigger on a purchase, and these simply blew me away!
I really was hesitant, figuring they would fall out of my ears, so my wife and I visited the Apple Store to try their fit before buying. I’m 5-10, and my wife is 5-2, and surprisingly, neither of us could shake these out of our ears by shaking our heads side-to-side, or up and down.
The noise cancellation works incredibly well considering they don’t seal up the ear canal. You can still hear the wind on your ears just a bit, but if you’re in a room with others talking, you will only hear the music on your AirPods and nothing else unless you put them in transparent or adaptive modes which are also impressive features.
Pros:
* The noise cancellation is unbelievably good without needing to have silicone tips jammed in my ears.
* they are very comfortable and do not fall out
* they sound great!

- Expectations are key when purchasing, personally, coming from 2nd-gen, and whom tried & failed fit-test on 3rd-gen (but loved upgraded bass/mid-range), these fit the bill ...& beyond!
You can't look at these airpods in comparison to the Pros. While I own 1st-gen & now usb-C 2nd-Gen APPs, these are my EDC pods.
- While ~2-3x greater ANC, Pros are intrusive, require readjustments, and are less easy to just pop-in & pop-out, when out or around conversations.
IMO , these are a huge boost in sound-quality & family were surprised at how "muffled" the rest of the world was, speaking in front of them with pods in, then out, put an expression of happy-surprise.
Trust me, try these out, ANC is surprisingly effective & so comfy, you'll forget they're in ! Again, manage expectations in what you are getting here, these are meant to replace 2nd/3rd gen open-ear Airpods, however, experience will amaze you in how these take-over all needs between regular and pros :)

For me at least I can’t stand the rubber tips. These obviously do not have those and the noise cancellation for noises like an airplane engine or maybe a constant hum work really well. Only area they fall short in that department is high pitch things. But that’s as expected. The sound quality in my opinion is noticeably better than the Gen 3’s. Personally if you don’t like the rubber tips on the pros. These are a no brainer and are the best AirPods Apple has offered yet. Spend the extra get the active noise cancellation. You can toggle it on and off if you don’t like it. But better to have and not always want on then to not even have the option.

Having previously purchased the 3rd generation these 4th generation are a noticeable improvement in fit. The noise cancelling is surprisingly good despite the lack of the tips. Car noises in a busy street drop to just the sound of tyres on the road as if all the cars are electric. Commutes are a pleasure with most noise, conversation and announcements reduced.
Yes, the battery life of the AirPods has reduced and might be an issue for long flights but the case can charge them quickly.
Worth upgrading from previous versions? Definitely!!

I used them on a trip across the Atlantic and back recently and was very happy with them. The only drawback was having to recharge them mid-flight. But that was easy enough. I just charged them during one of the meals. Then I was back to watching movies. They pair beautifully with AR glasses (where over-the-ear headphones are very uncomfortable because they push against the temples). And the very intuitive pause/play action by pinching the stalk worked beautifully. It was also neat how they automatically sensed when I was talking to someone and they turned off ANC. And as soon as I was done chatting, they turned back on a couple seconds later. Well done, Apple!

items 23: content: After using the original AirPods for years and then upgrading to AirPods 2 for awhile, these AirPods 4 with the active noise cancelling (ANC) is a game changer. The sound quality is superior to all other previous versions I've used and now I can use these while on the airplane (as I travel a lot) instead of always using very large over-the-ear noise cancelling ones, and they work very well to suppress engine noise and crying babies! Lastly, given these are shorter than the older AirPods, the microphone for phone calls and virtual meetings work great; and that is whether I am wearing just one or both AirPods together. I definitely recommend these AirPods 4 with ANC over all others like them.

items 24: content: These are my first experience with the newer airpod shape. I find them really comfortable and even a little more secure fitting than than the original airpods. I had a pair of airpods pro, but I have always found "gummy" head phones to be uncomfortable. The noise cancellation is not near as good as the pros, but will serve their purpose in loud environments. The music sound quality with apple music seems to be great. It looks like the charging case has the same design (though smaller) and will be plagued by the corrosion issues that past airpods have also had. All around, I think these are a great and more comfortable alternative to airpod pros.

items 25: content: I was very nervous to upgrade after seeing many negative reviews but so far I love these. I went from Airpods 2 to these and was nervous they wouldn’t fit but they fit very well! The are a bit larger than Airpods 2 but still fit snuggly when working out or watching movies. The audio is amazing and has the same features as the Airpod Pros which was a nice upgrade! Buying active noise cancellation is definitely a plus and I do recommend for anyone thinking about purchasing. These are as horrible as people say. I have been through airpods 1, 2, pros, max, and now these. Airpods 2 and Airpods 4 are definitely the most comfortable and affordable!

items 26: content: Wasn’t expecting a huge difference from the previous AirPods, but the noise cancellation on these really surprised me. I’ve been using them at the gym and on the train, and they cut out a lot more background noise than I thought they would — not quite over-ear headphone level, but super solid for earbuds.
Sound is clean, bass is punchy without being muddy, and they’re super easy to pop in and just go. Battery life’s been fine for me — lasts through most of the day with some breaks. Only reason I knocked off a star is the price — they’re a bit on the steep side unless you catch a sale. But overall? Really happy I upgraded.

The decibels for marine power tools is insane. Let me tell you, I CANT HEAR ANY OF IT! I mailed him these for an anniversary gift. It was a great decision. The noise cancellation is simply AMAZING. Now sometimes I am a little nosey lol. You can't be with these. I only hear him talking and thats IT! No background noise or people talking, just him. The sound clarity is almost as if he's standing beside me and talking in my ear. I love that I can hear him clearly from over 6000 miles away.

It arrived so fast, i thought it would take longer because i’m from cebu.
My worries about the parcel being tampered with disappeared when the box was completely intact, i thought it would be tampered based on the experience of the others.
Sounds great and feels great. ANC is like 7/10, still good considering that it’s not in-ear, and transparency is probably 8/10 for me. This is my first ever airpods and it’s really good, and ngl i only got this because it can be tracked in case i lose it, unlike my old nothing buds🥲🥲
NGL, my only problem is the CS is so obviously AI, they still respond but it’s AI so yk.

items 30: content: I was a HUGE fan of the original AirPods as they just seemed to fit my ears best. When the AirPods 3 came out, I was severely disappointed as they never could stay in. I do enjoy the AirPods Pro 1/2, but the convenience of just slipping in the original AirPods (and better mics) had me using them daily.
Enter AirPods 4 and I feel like I have the best of both worlds. The fit is exactly as good as the original AirPods, but they do stay locked in and I can wear them for hours. The ANC isn’t on par with AirPods Pro, BUT they get the job done for 90% of the situations where it would be helpful/useful without having to worry about getting the perfect deal like with the Pro models.
Overall I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone that enjoyed the original AirPods and looking to upgrade.
