detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: I have been researching headphones to pick for a full month and the Sony WH-CH 720N was definitely my best option.
I have sensory issues when it comes to noise especially in bustling areas such as airports, malls, school etc. and bought these headphones to combat those issues. I have been using the headphones for 2 weeks now and have had no issues whatsoever.
The noise cancelling is great, and other reviews might say otherwise - but for someone using NC for the first time they're perfect. Sure, a little bit of noise gets through but just chuck some music on and you won't even notice it's there. The ANC is good too, really helpful when I'm trying to have a conversation but also wanting to listen to music, the small amount of white noise you hear that other reviews may complain about is really easy to forget about and ignore after a little bit too so, really, nothing to worry about.
It is very lightweight and is comfortable to wear for hours on end. I will admit that it is quite difficult to store as it does not come with a protective case nor can the headphones bend in any certain way to be stored which does cause a little bit of a headache for me as I don't necessarily carry bags, but it is easily stored inside with a headphone stand or just around my neck walking.
Gaming wise the sound quality is great and I love it, although for me personally I like to hear my voice clearly as I talk which has led me changing headphones for specifically gaming with VC.
I have had no issues with battery life as the quick-recharge time does it so fast I haven't had my battery go past 60% in the time having it. The headphones being USB-C is helpful too as it's genuinely the only cord I own and the 3 min = 60 mins charge time is amazing to say the least. It also has an optional headphone jack which is helpful if your headphones go flat or the device you're using doesn't have bluetooth -- but as far as I'm aware, if that is the case, the NC feature is not avaliable.
Sound quality wise, it is automatically very bassy and definitely perfectly immersive. You are also able to customise your listening using the SONY app on your phone and as I love bass, I turned it all the way up. There have been a few glitches at times but nothing to really annoy me in any way possible.
In conclusion, if you're looking for some cheap NC headphones and love a lot of bass? These headphones are for you. Will admit the NC is nothing compared to some of Sony's more expensive headphones -- but really, if you're looking for all NC I would consider just getting some industrial headphones. All in all -- great headphones, 9/10.

title: Great noise cancelling for sensory issues
detailedReviews 2: content: These are great! They do not have the equaliser settings to be able to fine tune the sound but I didn't want that anyway! I have worn the non-noise cancelling Sony WH-CH520 headphones for music and tv (amazing headphones) for a long while but really wanted to get some that cancelled out some of the background noise outside of the headphones.
I first bought a £250 pair of headphones, not Sony, and they were amazing at the noise cancellation but not so great for the sound. I returned them. I then bought another pair at £150, non Sony, and they were absolutely rubbish. I returned them. SO I have up for a couple of months then came across these Sony noise cancelling headphones, I had just assumed that Sony did not do them as they never came up in the Google ads?!
These headphones cancel out enough of the background, bearing in mind I am autistic that is a real testament! The sound is great, it is not equaliser level sound for those who want to fine tune but it is perfect for me. Being around £100 these headphones are amazing value.
If I wanted to buy a pair of headphones to really drill down into getting an absolutely perfect sound I would look to spend more than £250, I would guess more like £500. But for around £100 these are perfect for me and I don't have to be too precious with them unlike if I had a £500 pair which I would be handling like a newborn.
I am really happy and am going to buy another pair of these for my music, that way I have them both set to connect straight to each device without selecting which one to pair to as there is nothing better than turning then on and connecting straight to the device you want.
I wish I had read this review 4 months ago when I started looking for noise cancelling headphones!

title: Good noise cancellation for the price
detailedReviews 3: content: I've had these for a good while now and was initially a bit skeptical of the active noise cancelling function. I've never had anything with that function before, but decided that I could just turn it off if I didn't like them. I was so wrong. The noise cancelling on these have changed my life. If I ever saw myself getting a new pair of headphones different from these, they'd HAVE to have noise cancelling on them. I guess the sound is pretty solid too. But I must share an excellent story that happened to me last night regarding these auditory pairs of angels.
I was at my first ever concert, and because I'm not a fan of getting over-stimulated and having a mental breakout in the middle of a performance, I brought my pair of these headphones and some earplugs to help shield the noise. One word. Magic. The noise cancelling on these is genuine witchcraft. I kept uncovering one ear over and over because of how perfect these blocked the noise. Yes, I could still hear perfectly, it was at the perfect volume for me to enjoy the concert.
However, the audience was the loudest part of my experience. Not the music, no, the roars of the attendees next to me. Dear heavens, they were loud. During a particularly loud bout of the audience, I heard the headphones glitch, shudder, and give up their noise cancelling from the sheer overwhelming power of the crowd. The headphones were silent for a good minute, and I had to plug my ears with my fingers during their struggle. My knight in shining armour--protecting me from the harsh world surrounding me--fell in battle and honourably died by my side. I felt so prideful of my headphones for the work they did, and put in my earplugs to assist with blocking the noise.
But. I kid you not, ten minutes after they fell, they stirred back to life and the feeling of deafness enveloped me again. They lived, getting up from the ground, picking up its shield, and jumping in front of me valiantly. I have never felt so proud of a piece of technology before. I continued to keep my earplugs with me, but they never overshadowed the sheer power these headphones used to protect my ears.
My own personal auditory warrior is still with me, playing my study playlist as I procrastinate and write this brilliant review. I feel so honoured to own and live amongst such a brave knight in shining armour. And, as I look back to that fateful night, I realise something phenomenal;
The greatest warrior in the world is not Hannibal Barca, or Richard the Lionheart, or not even Alexander the Great--but the Sony WH-CH720 Noise Cancelling Headphones.

title: Noise cancelling changed my life, truly magical
detailedReviews 4: content: I bought this around 2 weeks ago and haven't used them particularly much because of an unrelated ear injury. However, for the time that I have used them, I can tell that these headphones are very good. The base audio is a bit tinny for me but the app is very easy to use and it took me only a few minutes to personalise the EQ, with help from the app. Very intuitive! The headphones do fit very well and they are adjustable. I do find that wearing for a couple of hours does start to ache the ears, but that may be down to me having the headphones not adjusted properly. The Bluetooth connection is good and can extend all areas of my house without cutting out. The battery life is good; like I said, I haven't worn them too much (around 6 hours) and they are still about 80% charged. The volume is easily controllable with the buttons on the right earcup, I do find that the buttons are slightly oddly placed and I do often find myself pausing my music instead of pressing the lower volume button. The centre button is changeable via the app and a smart assistant can be connected to the centre button as well. I did have a bit of trouble connecting the Google Assistant to my headphones whilst they are also connected to my watch but resetting my headphones and restarting the connection and app setting up process has fixed the issue. I haven't had much time to test the call quality, but from the one call that I have had with the headphones, the sound of the other person was good. They let me know that I was a little quiet but otherwise absolutely fine. As I have said, the app is a must have to customise your sound and other settings. The headphones have a feature where you're noise cancelling and ambient setting will change based on your location, very handy. These are my first pair of noise cancelling headphones so I can't compare, but the noise cancelling is good and does block out noise. I think it struggles with wind and some car sounds but otherwise okay. The ambient noise doesn't allow as much noise in as I would have hoped but it's also fine. The sound leakage is not too severe but it can be heard when the volume is very loud.
Overall, a great pair of headphones for a good price. Good quality and comfort. Final points, they dont come with a case so I've bought one for £15 on Amazon, and the charging cable is so short it's not worth using.

title: Amazing value, perfect for autistic needs
detailedReviews 5: content: hi. i'm autistic. i've been looking for headphones for ages, and when i got into NDIS and had these ordered, genuinely floored. these are really really great if you're neurodivergent and/or have a lot of sensory problems with noise! the way that you can customise both noise cancelling modes is really nice, the app is pretty easy to use, it's easy to use with a cord or just with bluetooth and i really really enjoy using these! i had a blue pair before, but now i got a white pair and the fact that even with a year use the blue ones really don't look that bad is shocking to me. i've put my blue ones through hell - many instances of rain, the beach (covered in sand) and so much more, and yet they still work perfectly fine! i really enjoy these headphones a lot and hope more people can find these (and be able to afford them. they are pretty expensive afterall but DEFINITELY worth it) and have an experience just as good as mine :]

title: Great for neurodivergent, sensory noise issues
detailedReviews 6: content: These headphones are incredible! I got them while they were on sale for $120, and they were so worth the money. I had new neighbors move in, and they were so loud at night and during the day (I telework most days) and I was becoming miserable because they made focusing on work hard and at night were messing with my sleep schedule. I tried lots of things to resolve the issue (my air pods, white noise okay night, silicone ear plugs, etc.), but nothing seemed to help, either it would help with higher frequency sounds like their voices, or it would help with lower sounds like the bass of their TV/speaker, but not both. I got these headphones as a last resort, and they are amazing! They were being super loud the other day, I put these on, turned on ANC, and couldn’t hear them at all. Even without playing music! My roommates also have Fridays off (I unfortunately don’t), and sometimes could be distracting from work even with my door closed, I wore these one Friday morning and didn’t even realize they were both awake and in the kitchen (with my bedroom door wide open) till I took the headphones off! Absolutely amazing!
Now the downsides/reason for 4 out of 5 stars?
For one, the bass on these is super boosted (granted that’s in the name), however you can adjust that in the app so that’s not much of an issue honestly. The real downside is these are a tad large/better for larger heads, they’re not the comfiest (they can kinda hurt the top of your head over time, but I find I can fix this if I put a scrunchy or something cushiony on my head under the part that rests on the top of my head), and they’re also kinda ugly (honestly might just be my opinion, they’re def not as cute as the Apple ones or Bose ones). However I don’t plan to wear them out, so honestly all those things I don’t mind, it would just be things to be aware of! Also probably not the best for the gym if you have a small head, they’d probably fall off with certain movements. Additionally the microphone is actually very good, as long as you have ANC activated, otherwise I have been told it sounds like someone is crinkling a wrapper constantly in the background.
But overall, if you are dealing with loud neighbors, telework in a noisy situation, etc. these are amazing (just maybe wait for them to go back on sale again)!

title: Noise cancelling amazing for loud neighbors
detailedReviews 7: content: I have spent years fighting to find a decent pair of bluetooth headphones since no phone manufacturer wants to make a decent phone with a jack anymore (which is endlessly stupid, but I digress). I have tried everything form fancy expensive Galaxy Buds to a myriad of budget options, and all have the same problems. Flawed connectivity, noticeably glitchy, slightly reduced sound quality.
These finally fix it. The inclusion of an option to use a headphone jack on devices that let you is a great feature. Along with multipoint connect. They fit perfectly around my skinny neck (your mileage may very on that), so travel with them is a breeze. And for the sound quality, these are absolutely the best headphones for your money.
I was loathe to go to overears full time because I like being able to take one out to hear my surroundings, and every noise passthrough I used before was sucky. (usually the outside noise obnoxiously trebley). Not with these. I actually go to concerts to listen with my headphones on because it actually makes the concerts sound better than with no headphones. Extremely convincing, near perfect noise passthrough.
The app is easy to use and has a great selection of features: from custom EQs, to adjusting the noise pass through, to other various quality of life settings. The 3D adaptive sound feature is great, though a little tricky to set up at first, and noise cancellation is very good, though not the best in the world. The battery life is also almost unbelievable. I use these headphones a lot--sometimes all day--and I still only have to charge them once or twice a week. Multipoint connection is also a very nice plus if, say, I am working at my computer and still want to be able to answer phone calls hands-free.

title: Best headphones for money, noise passthrough great
detailedReviews 8: content: These headphones are amazing. As a neurodivergent person, navigating loud spaces is extremely difficult. That doesn't just have to be a grocery store or a park, but also sometimes the refrigerator or the air conditioning in my own home. The noise canceling function helps me focus on tasks and actually helps me see better because once I am not distracted by the noise I can focus more on what is in front of me. The sound quality is good, but not fantastic, and I find myself wishing it was a bit louder sometimes for when I do want to listen to something. Another thing that happens, though I'm not sure if this is just a problem with my face shape, is that if I turn my head sometimes the headphone "seal" comes open and I can hear ambient noise. This only happens every so often, but I thought it was worth pointing out. I have never had a problem with connectivity and the battery lasts so long (knock on wood) that I have only had to charge it a couple of times since purchasing them. The color is one of my favorite parts. Everything I own is blue, teal, or green, and when I saw that I could order these in my favorite color I was extremely happy. If you have a loved one or you yourself are neurodivergent and cannot cope with noisy environments, I highly recommend these headphones.

title: Noise cancelling helps focus, great for neurodivergent
detailedReviews 9: content: I’ve been wanting a noise cancelling headset for some time “have buds but not a headset” and saw that Sonly came out with the WHCH720N Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones and wanted to give them a try.
Unboxing and setting up:
The headphones came in a nice Sony logoed box, very simple and recyclable, including a “very short USB C charging cable, an audio passthrough cable and instructions, “they kept it simple”.
I installed the “Sony Headphones Connect” app on my S22Ultra and paired up the headphones “I did charge it first”, and the phone automatically found them and connected without a hitch. The app immediately popped up an alert stating that an update for the headphones was available, so I let that run before doing anything else.
I was surprised with how many settings there are in the app itself, there’s even a portion of it for the 360degree sound function that has you take a picture of your ear “sort of strange” but well explained as to why. There’s also a lot of settings for the noise cancelling and how the headset will adjust the level of ambient noise that comes through depending on the environment you are in or you can take complete manual control.
Using:
I was very surprised just how light these are “right around 6.5oz”, which is way lighter than the A40s I have which are 14oz and so heavy I don’t use them very much, we also have Marshall Major IIs “on ear” and Audio Technica ATHM50XBTs, the weight is close to the 6.2oz of the Marshalls and lighter than the 10.5oz of the A/Ts. The ear cushions are very padded and soft, just the right amount of padding “for me”. Fortunately, the power/pairing button are on the left side while the rest of the controls are on the right side, this helps keep from hitting the power button accidentally.
Now for sound quality, I’ll be comparing them to the Marshalls and the A/Ts. And as far as sound quality is concerned while using Bluetooth and the Sony app, you can tweak the Sony’s to sound better than of the other two, the Marshalls just don’t have the bass and the A/T while sounding great have no way to adjust the sound the way you like it plus neither have sound cancelling.
As far as the sound cancelling go I was/am amazed how well it works, and when it’s enabled with no ambient sound allowed to pass through you will want to make sure your in an environment that you don’t need to hear what’s going on around you as you will barely be able to hear anything around you even with nothing playing in the background and if you have music playing you can pretty much forget hearing anything else. It’s pretty cool that it automatically sets the sound pass through when I go out for my neighborhood walk in the evening and it’s easy to hear oncoming vehicles or carry on a conversation with a neighbor without having to take the headset off, “neighbor was pretty impressed too”.
I also tried out the built in Alexa and that works well, and the same as using one of the small Echo Dots, just say Alexa and then your command. We have some of our lamps hooked to smart switches and it was easy to turn them on/off with the headset. Can also ask to play music or and anything else you would ask your Alexa device to do, “well done Sony”
Conclusion:
If you want a really good set of “Over the Ear” headphones that have great sound cancelling capabilities along with a lot more features than most other headphones I’d look strongly at the WHCH720N’s. They are light, very comfortable, the sound is great once you tweak it to where you like “the App has a full equalizer” and lasts a very long time on battery “still at 60% after many hours of use between music, movies and making calls. Distance wise I was able to walk around our house and easily walked a good 40' away before there was any connection loss. I tested this while they were connected to my S22 Ultra. The only thing that I can find negative about these is the super short charging cable that’s included. I tossed that in my cable box and use my standard USB C long charging cable I use for my tablet.

title: Lightweight, comfortable, great sound cancelling
detailedReviews 10: content: Got these initially because i needed some over the ear headphones for the gym. ive never had noise canceling headphones before so i didnt care for that aspect much at the time, but now, even in my house, i dont want to take them off. I absolutely understand the hype now. Besides the great noise canceling quality, the sound quality is amazing. One of my favorite things of this headset, is that it puts no pressure on any of my hard cartilage piercings and even with stretched ear lobes, they fit perfectly in the headphones- which was a must in terms of headphone shopping. These headphones dont squeeze and they are very light weight. I am absolutley obsessed with these!!!
