What good is a mono headphone jack in this day and age? I'll tell you, it's useless. Muli-player immersive competitive games require complete accuracy of the in-game acoustics. The box says Sony, Playstation PS4, stereo headphones output, but I'm getting audio quality like a kitchen wall phone, in avocado, from the 70's.
Secondly, the analog sticks, R3/L3, are too springy, making aiming a chore. It's all or nothing going left or right, up or down.
Can't hear where the enemies are coming from, and good luck hitting the target when you finally find them.
Perhaps it's the seller, whom I thought was Walmart, but rather Amazon-like in nature, was fulfilled by a third party, HomaGic. That's HomaGic, but there is a most similar HoMagic. Washington state, and China. Worryingly the HomaGic of Washington state in the About Seller section of the Walmart web page states "This seller may also engage in manufacturing, importing or reselling consumer products."

If you ordered this controller and got it from Lovehome Electronics LLC, or any unknown retailer online, it's not a genuine Sony product. If you turn on the controller and the light is turquoise, it's a knock off. It's also lighter than an actual DS4 because it's 3D printed. If your DS4 came with a charging cable, then it's also a knockoff. Genuine Dualshocks don't come with a charging cable, it even says so on the box. Also notice the weird spacing and thinner font on the label on the back of the controller, another clue.
I wasn't suspicious at first until I plugged my headphones in and the audio was horrible. A lot of hiss and tinny background noise going on, as well as no surround sound audio which is vital if you're playing an open world game and you have to hear what direction the enemy is coming from.
TL;DR: Get one from a store. It might not be the color you want, but anything is better than a fake that costs as much as the real thing. You might even be better just getting a well-known third party controller. Just not this. Please.

I play using it for 4+ hours per day, sometimes 12+ hours on long streaming sessions. I used the same controller that came with my PS4 Slim purchase back in 2016-2017 and even switched out the joysticks and stick drift was never an issue, I would still be using it today if it wasn't for the triggers not recognizing a full pull, only seeing an 80% pull on the right trigger...
I purchased one of these before Christmas in December and already replaced it for stick drift issues, now it's happening again with a second new controller. At least I'm a member of the Best Buy's Total Tech so I get 60 days return window and 24 months of warranty through them but I feel sorry for those that don't.
FYI SONY IF YOU'RE LISTENING, FIX YOUR QA DEPARTMENT. SHOULDN'T HAVE ISSUES LIKE THIS WITH LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AT LEAST.

If you're looking for a proper sony controller, your best bet would be going directly to the sony website. As of writing this they only sell the black ones but, you should be guaranteed the 60$ quality.
With that said, this thing was 60$ when i bought it. Since then it's dropped to 45$ as of writing this. At 60$ i can pretty definitively say it's not worth the money. In comparison to the 60$ standard set by Sony, it is effectively inferior in all regards besides it's color. The audio jack has significantly diminished the quality of my headset audio, when i speak to friends the sounds much more clunky, and there is effectively zero bass in my headset. I can say with confidence that the controller is the issue because, comparing them side by side shows a drastic difference in my mic and headphone audio quality. Outside of this, the touchpad is basically stuck in permanently. so trying to type stuff on the ps4 is pretty much impossible cuz you'll always get stuck on the G letter. Sometimes turning the controller on and off will fix it for five minutes and then it breaks again. And one final nit pick, the joysticks are noticably clunkier. They haven't started drifting yet so they're not as bad another 20$ controller i bought recently but. Using quick comms can be a hassle since, a diagnol input will sometimes be read as a fully left input if that makes sense. The joystick themselves also feel noticeably filmy. Fuzzy. Honestly I kind of like how they feel but it's no denying that they're less responsive, and sometimes when I'm flicking and aiming the sense will get slow, so ill have to realign in the middle then reflick. Happens sparingly enough to where it's not a huge issue.
All n All, at the current price of 40 something dollars. It might be worth it if you're into the aesthetic. The blue finish comes out really nice. It's also good enough quality to where it could probably last you awhile. But even so, that's about as much praise as I can give. Again i don't hate it, it's serving me well for the time being, but i'm kicking myself for not just going to the website directly. For now, the shine is cool at least.

What’s frustrating is that the price of these controllers hasn’t gone down, even though PS4s aren’t being actively supported like before. And no, I didn’t buy the insurance or extra warranty—because I trusted the quality based on past experience. My original controller from years ago is still functioning, so I expected the same from these new ones.
Would I buy them again? Unfortunately, I might have to, just so my kids can play their games—but I wouldn’t want to. I definitely think Sony or the retailers should offer a better warranty than just 15 days. Once that window closes, you’re pretty much stuck if something goes wrong.
Bottom line: the quality just isn’t what it used to be, and at this price, it should be.

On the other hand, my older Sony controller reads no white spaces and covers the whole surface area of the analog sticks and even has a slightly larger radius than the Walmart controller
In other words, the Walmart controller sticks feel very "choppy" and cheap. If you are a gamer and want the best experience for gaming, I would not get this controller.

It showed up in a tiny yellow manilla envelope with thin layer of bubble wrap. i opened it to check it out and it had no tags no wrapping on it, no card, papers with it etc. Just a the controller. i was very confused. So just a quick glimpse i noticed besides the way it was found inside that it was infact used. The paint was worn off, scratches all over the entire thing. The one jou stick was broke and barely even attached to the remote. And there was a crack where the sensor/notification bar for showing you when blinking as batteries are low etc upfront. Mind you I only buy items that ARE sold and shipped by Walmart only. And this was also the usual case. i went to walmart return with it and the people at the service desk were baffled. They said well if its not sold and shipped by us this can haopned as third party sellers will do these things, i explained it was bought and sold and shipped by Walmart and pulled my email up and they went blank. They couldn't believe it and apolojized and did the return. But i warn you to be weary of purchasing these online and go to your local store that way you see it and know it cant be in such conditions coming straight out of the locked cases.

I technically have 12 controllers. Other than the PCB it's not really Factory and still works fine.
I repair just about anything with a circuit for a living.
These things are engineered to fail or by someone who cares more about saving money then keeping customers happy.
1. The resistive film on the analog joysticks. These have a reduced contact surface promoting wear.
"With exception a few revisions I've seen have either multiple contact points on the wipers or just have slightly larger surfaces on them."
(Why Analog contact media over Digital sensors, It beats me?)
2. The Tactile switches are not designed for endurance.
The L3 and R3 and will always wear prematurely.
(They should use high endurance micro-switches like those found in most high end computer mice.)
3. Last but not least. These controllers come with an onboard CPU and yet lack any ability to auto calibrate? The Console itself should even compensate for jitter or centering/adjustments, but you don't see it as an option anywhere?
Now with some modern tech the DS5 has the same issues (and more) as far as wear and tear.
Final Thoughts: Battery tech has advanced leaps and bounds over the years and we are at the point we can put infrared digital joys in the controllers with next to zero impact on battery life or even use even lower powered solutions like magnetic field sensors(MFS) Hall Effect(HE)*.
This would increase reliability as no moving parts need to make physical contact inside the joys. Wear can be extended by using a bearings on the pivots/cage to keep the joystick center.
*Some companies already do these methods and senors.
Getting a product licensed and approved to be used on their platform wouldn't be in Sony's best interest.
Now Here is the Gotcha...
As far as quality the PCBs are decent and great for modding.
Price to Durability I would recommend a cheap offbrand controller as they most often have the same Joys across the board.
That said, remember you get what you pay for.
Three $20 controllers will get you about 800-1000hours of vigorous use or one Branded DS4 for $60 can get you about 265~335 hours of vigorous use.

First the hall effect sticks are everything I’ve ever wanted. So precise I didn’t realize how out of spec my old controller was. I set the stick dead zone to zero on both sticks and no problem, it snaps back to the exact center and no matter how hard I try I can get the targeting icon to stay put if the stick is moved all tall. I’ve tried used multiple games calibration as well as the system ones for the elite controller, always the same result. Compared to my elite 2 controller that is back from service about 3 months ago, there were spots on the calibrators at level 10 that the stick would register as center.

As for the quality of the controller: Everything is in working order. it came with its own charger, the charging port took a few pull outs to warm up but works fine. the aux port for my headphones works.
The only quirk my controller has is the Share button to the left of the touch pad has a noticable amount of friction compared to the right Options button. same with the L2 button. But i personally dont mind it

Im so used to it now it doesnt really bother me but sometimes it just infinitely scrolls a menu or something and I cant play at all, or it glides my camera around for no reason. Other than that I havent really had an issue. I really like the glowing backside light as well and its ability to change colours depending on whats onscreen. They were also very helpful when I bought a ps3 without cords or controllers for cheap- super easy to connect the dualshock 4 controllers. Played PS1 games on a PS3 with PS4 controllers, good times. The dualshock 4 came with pretty slick colours too, I really loved my gold one though its colours are weirdly faded and aged now and its got some drift so Ive moved onto the sunset orange. I love the sunset orange, too, its a very unique look. I only wish I could have gotten my hands on that glorious crystal red. All in all its a nice looking controller, it feels nice, it works for the most part, and its probably one of my favourite designs for a console ever.

You can watch blue Ray DVDs 📀 and movies on the game console and it’s just like having a CD player or DVD player with your game system. It’s super easy to spray and clean. Not much sticks to it although it can gather dust while sitting there for a long period of time but again it’s super easy to spray and wipe down to clean off. I’ve had game systems since childhood and have always loved video games and it can be a really fun thing to have to kill time as well. I definitely prefer to have play station over XBox. I love their graphics and again I love that the system is so slim and compact. It doesn’t take up much space at all and it’s very light as well. Maybe just a few lbs.

I buy controllers for their ergonomics, not for their other features, like vibration, which I promptly turn off. I have never held a Dualshock 5, but if I were to ever purchase a PlayStation 5 I would certainly try to use a Dualshock 4 to play it with instead of a Dualshock 5. I find it very disappointing, on Sony's part, that they constructed the Dualshock 5 to be rounded, as a possible concession to the trend of controller shape that the Xbox's controllers seems to have influenced. Especially when they already had the best, most ergonomic, and most successful controller on the market. I really hope they return to this form factor again. The only problem I have with them is that the analog sticks have dead zones from around 10 to 12 o'clock, which has persisted for multiple generations. Also, they're not as precise as they could be. Sony really needs to address this.

I read all the bad reviews from Canadian buyers last week and it got me scared. It had been over a month since I received and unpacked mine, and even though I hadn't noticed anything wrong, anxiety took over me as I continued to read more and more. So I meticulously inspected my controller, and, by chance, my original one is in mint condition too because I bought my PS4 bundle in December so it's the best comparative you could get. First things first, I bought directly from Amazon and not some obscure shop who sold it cheaper. The white model I got was $68 so it wasn't that bad. I compared the back sticker, the light, the sturdiness of the plastic, the buttons, how they feel when I press them, the sticks, the triggers, even the screws and honestly, if it's a fake, it is a masterpiece because I couldn't tell any difference between the 2 controllers except for the color. Time will tell if it becomes defect prematurely but for now, it works just as it should and it feels like the real deal. My advice is to buy directly from Amazon, as I said earlier. The few extra bucks may save you nightmares.

It took all the parts of the DualShock 3 that felt dated (such as the shared plastic mold / shape from DualShock 2 and 1) and totally overhauled it to make it look great and feel super comfortable. The D-Pad is, in my humble opinion, near-perfect to the point where I would have little feedback to sony about it were they to ask me for ideas for improvement, and all the buttons and triggers just feel great. Analog sticks are also tight, accurate and perfectly sized and located on the controller. Only 2 downsides I can think of: The trackpad kinda sucks, but it's NEVER used in non-PS4 titles to be fair, and the analog sticks' rubber isn't very grippy. I've decided to buy some cheap analog thumbsticks for Xbox One to replace the ones provided by Sony as this is one area Microsoft definitely outdid Sony on. My hands get a little sweaty when I play and that can be disruptive, but this is an easy fix and wouldn't bother folks whos hands don't sweat profusely. Lastly, I actually bought a phone clip for this controller, and pairing it to devices like my phone and PC is SUPER easy and painless, so it makes a great controller for on-the-go gaming too unlike the old Dualshock 3 since pairing that thing was terrible. All-in-all, I thinkthis is my favourite controller of all time.

Only positive is the controller somehow came with a charger even though I'm pretty sure dual shock 4 controllers aren't supposed to come with chargers.

I wish It had (orange) led color, but it's more of just a urine yellow.
Triangle button doesn't work. Also worth mentioning that none of the buttons are labeled, so if you don't have it memorized you're not gonna know what button to push.
1 of the 4 LEDs on the right is rotated 90 degrees, so that's kind of annoying.
I could give it less than 4 stars but it's been working for over 2 months and it was under $25.
