detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: The Meta Quest 3 is the third iteration of the Oculus Quest, which was the first standalone VR headset untethering you from a PC. With Meta at the reins, the VR space has grown as has their product improvements and refinements.
Having owned the original Oculus Quest and the successor the Meta Quest 2, I have spent countless hours playing various standalone virtual reality games and experiences. While I enjoyed those headsets, the novel experience wained and I found myself picking them up less and less. The Quest 3, originally released in 2023, iterated on the successful design, and on paper it didn’t seem like enough of an improvement for me to pick up at the increased price. Now a year later, Meta has reduced the starting price of the Quest 3 and introduced a cheaper alternative the Quest 3S.
With the Quest 3 being a year old, it may seem dated, but now is the time to buy what is currently the best value in VR.
To start, the optical stack of the Quest 3 is far superior to the previously used fresnel lens. The clarity was immediately noticeable as was the greatly improved sweet spot that lenses provide. The IPD adjustment is smooth, and can be easily adjusted between 58-70 with a dial on the bottom. This fine tuning combined with the pancake lenses of the Quest 3 is night and day compared to my Quest 2, though I may be overly sensitive to blur. I may have been drawn to the Quest 3 over the 3S due to the pancake lenses but after using the headset I realize I underestimated the benefit mixed reality (MR) brings to the table. Though the passthrough cameras are a little grainy, especially in low light, the quality improvement and addition of color makes it far more useable coming from the Quest 2. I find myself leaving passthrough on as my preferred environment as I feel it is a more comfortable experience and makes it feel more natural. It is still enjoyable to jump into an immersive VR game or experience, but I also now like using the browser or watching youtube in a passthrough environment over a virtual one.
Hand tracking is much improved and is now quite useable for navigating the device and using first party applications like the browser or applications that have been updated to support hand tracking. Naturally there are limitations and it will never replace controllers but I am pleasantly surprised the progress that they have maid so far. The included touch plus controllers are a better design now that Meta has integrated the tracking into the face of the controllers instead of relying on tracking rings. They still operate on a single AA battery each and have excellent battery life, unfortunately the headset itself still only manages a little over 2 hours depending on use. Fortunately the accessory market for the Quest 3 is flush with options now that the device is fairly mature, and there are numerous battery strap options. The included head strap is actually better than previous designs and fairly comfortable for short usage. I actually prefer the ease of slipping it on for a quick session and the soft strap design allows the Quest 3 to be fairly compact for storage. The facial interface now has four depth adjustments to accommodate different faces or glasses wearers and is also removable as well. Meta sells a variety of facial interfaces including a new open facial interface that improves the mixed reality experiences and offers better breathability.
Compared to my previous experience with Quest devices, the Quest 3 is by far the best so far. Meta has done a great job and improved upon their design while also branching more into MR which is an interesting look into the future. Even looking just at the VR segment, the Quest 3 is the most popular headset on the market. Though the hardware isn’t capable of PCVR yet, the overall experience Meta has fostered with the Quest is hard to deny.

title: The Meta Quest 3 is the third iteration...
detailedReviews 2: content: There are several Meta Quest models now, and version 3 is one of the top choices. This particular model offers a higher resolution LCD display of 2064 x 2208 pixels and 120Hz, as well as a lot more storage at 512 gigs, compared to lesser models. It also offers more sophisticated cameras on the front to track your hands/controllers as well as the environment around you when you are moving around while wearing the headset.
Setup is ok, but a little fiddly. The head strap “harness” has a few ways to adjust it on the top and back, and it can take a while to find the right fit to make the Quest 3 as comfortable as possible on your head. There’s a foam insert surrounding the face area that also has tiny buttons on each side of the inside with 4 levels you can use to pull it out a bit, and there are very fiddly to use – it’s easy to accidentally pull out the whole face insert! Though you can pop it back in easy enough. This is allegedly to allow you to be able to wear glasses while using the headset, but in my case, this didn’t work. More on that later.
If you have an existing Facebook account, you can sign in with that once you charge up the Quest 3 via the USB-C port on the left side, or create a new account in the phone app you’ll download as a companion to the device. It does take a bit and mine came almost completely drained, so charge it first before setting it up. The Quest 3 has to go through initial setup routines, download a software update, and connect the two hand controllers to it’s system, so expect to make an evening of it to get it all done. There were a couple of glitches in the app during setup where it couldn’t find a hand controller, but then it did, then not the other, then it did, lost the WiFi connection, then found it, etc. You get the idea – patience is a virtue during setup.
Once set up initially, the Quest 3 will want to create a map of the room you’re in so you won’t walk into things while using it. This can take a few minutes, and you turn your head in all direction to map things out (you can redo it whenever you want or to reorient things). Virtual screens hover in the air in front of you so you can adjust settings, create an Avatar that represents you when in the virtual world, shop the app store to download apps to use in the store, or use a browser to surf, or even watch shows on Youtube or Netflix. When needed, a keyboard can also pop up so you can enter your info. Now, you are supposed to be able to see virtual hands when you hold your hands out that you can use in place of the controllers for certain activities, but mine, so far, has been a bit buggy… mine will appear and begin to work, then disappear, causing me to fall back on the controllers. In a couple of cases, the controllers stop working, only to be replace by the hands. Ugh.
My big complaint is that even though they say you can use the Quest 3 if you wear glasses, this is not always the case. I use reading type glasses for various things, that can vary from 1.25 to 2.50 strengths depending on what I’m doing. I have those and a few other variations, and I tried EVERY one of them, and even fiddling with all 4 levels of adjustments and a wheel on the bottom of the headset that adults the “IPD (Interpupillary Distance) adjustment wheel”, that adjusts the width of the two inner lenses. It’s NOT a “focus” adjustment – it just varies the width, and did little good. In every case with every pair of glasses, everything ranges from bad to really bad in terms of clarity. I found that really, just not wearing glasses at all helped some, but as of the time of this writing, I still haven’t been able to get what I would call “sharp” clarity from the headset regardless of settings, controls, or apps. If you wear prescription lenses, you can order a set from Meta to replace what comes with the headset, at an additional cost, that may work depending on your eyesight circumstances.
Games and apps can vary from fully submersible, in which all you see is the activity in the app, to a pass-through where you can somewhat see the room you are in through the front cameras while a virtual environment plays on top of it, such as an initial game where you shoot fuzzy aliens as they seem to bust through your ceiling and walls. More elaborate games make you a part of them, such as the included (with mine) Batman Arkham Shadow game, which allows you to take on the roll of Batman as though you’re looking through his eyes, maneuvering around Gotham and battling villains. It can be disorienting until you get used to VR, and caution is needed when standing to play these games, but you do get the hang of it. You can of course seek out other things like tourism or nature apps that simply allow you to be someplace else. Search for free ones online because a lot of them via the store are pay apps and range in prices from as little as $1.99 each all the way to $49.99 and higher.
When fully charged, the battery indicator shows about 2 hours and 30 minutes charge (give or take). The more elaborate the app, the quicker it can drain the battery, though. The included charger takes a couple of hours or so to recharge the Quest 3. I wish they could have put a bigger battery in the device, being honest. Time runs out quickly when you get into it. I tried to use an extended cable and charge while I used it, but it seems to drain the battery faster than it can charge it that way.
The controllers are powered by AA batteries, and you can use rechargeable batteries if you prefer. They’re comfortable to hold and have wrist straps so you don’t sling them around the room when using them. You can do some tasks using just one, but many times both are required unless you enable hand tracking in the settings area, in which case you can use your virtual hands to control things (kind of hit and miss in my use). A charging dock (sold separately) will allow you to charge your Quest via 4 small pin connections, as well as the controllers if you use rechargeable batteries in them.
I can only speak about my experience with the Quest 3, as it has a huge following of people who love it. However, due to the incompatibility of my being able to use my reader type glasses with it and not being able to get a sharp viewing experience, I’m a bit disappointed with the performance of it. It still has it’s neat moments with some apps, and it can be entertaining, but much less so if you’re not able to get that sharp image you need. I think it would not be hard to put a TRUE dioptric type of focusing mechanism in a future version of this and not just a IPD wheel, so even people with glasses of any type could forego having to use them at all.
I would say if you have good vision and don’t mind a lot of pay apps to fully enjoy the Quest 3, you will find it entertaining. If you wear glasses, be aware of possible complications and incompatibility issues out of the box, or having to order prescription inserts at an additional cost, and perhaps wait for a more refined future model with better adjustment controls. So I would say that in my case, I’m a bit disappointed with the Quest 3 as my expectations were perhaps higher than the device, but your mileage may vary depending on your circumstances. I would recommend this, with reservations talked about above.

title: There are several Meta Quest models now, and...
detailedReviews 3: content: Last generation, when it was a choice between wired PCVR and wireless standalone VR, I went with wired. I was curious to know how far things have come since then. The second I turned on the Quest 3 and strapped it to my face, I knew that this was a whole new level.
The first thing you see when you turn on the Quest 3 is the actual world around you in full color. The AR experience is incredible, being able to open up menus and browser windows and place them wherever. Last gen, the pass-through was limited to black and white, and only there as a fail-safe to keep you from bumping into things. While wearing the Quest 3, the passthrough was so good that I was regularly checking my phone, amazed at being able to read the text on the screen, even if it was a little wobbly and rainbow shimmery.
I grabbed a highly rated table tennis game off of the store, and after a quick install I was holding a ping pong racket and relearning how to navigate in this virtual space. The physics were pretty incredible, and the hand tracking didn't skip a beat. I saw in the screenshots that there was an AR mode, so I turned that on and turned my dining table into a full sized ping pong table. That got a little too weird, and my daughter sitting at the table kept distracting me, so I went back into living room and the virtual world and practiced serving, since the game enforces actual rules like keeping the ball behind the table and hitting it on the descent after tossing at least 16cm. It took me a while to get the timing right, but once I did, everything felt real, down to the slight impact of the ball thanks to the rumble motors in the controllers. When my daughter asked to have a turn, I was about to set the controllers on the nonexistent table until the "this not reality" warning bells went off.
I plugged my gaming PC into a wifi 7 router that I have designated strictly for communication between it and my Quest 3. and set up Meta Link, which basically thrusts you into the older "Home" environment of last generation, but allows access to the PC. The clarity and sharpness of the screen was so good that I had no problem reading text in web browsers, word processing documents, and spreadsheets. I was even able to play a few PC games that I had installed that support VR without any perceptible lag. This is everything that I wanted out of VR, and surpasses even the lofty ambitions I had, which were originally set back when I was a kid watching Lawnmower Man on cable over and over again.
The onboard speakers work well to immerse you, and anyone else around you, in your virtual surroundings. There is also a headphone jack, so you can plug in your favorite headphones and enjoy some privacy without disturbing anyone. Bluetooth is also an option.
That being said, the included strap was finicky and puts all the weight at the front of the face. The facial interface (the liner between the actual housing that holds the electronics and your face) is also coarsely textured, presumably to prevent slipping, but with the unintended effect of being slightly abrasive especially to sensitive skin. The strap is upgradable, and the facial interface is removable, which also allows better vision of your surroundings for AR usage, at the cost of immersion. I also wish that there was some sort of bumper around the lenses included to keep my eyeglasses from potentially scratching them.
At the new price point, and without requiring a beefy gaming PC, the Quest 3 is a remarkable product. The out of the box experience is very beginner friendly, especially as it places you in AR first to help get you used to moving around with basically a bucket on your head. And if you do happen to have a PC and a newer Wifi router to hardwire it to, well, the wireless PCVR dream is now and I’m here for it. I've especially enjoyed watching movies from my PC in a virtual private movie theater with a 20' screen while also sitting on my living room sofa instead of my PC chair. While I wish that the battery lasted longer, the experience that gets packed into such a tiny device is incredible.

detailedReviews 4: content: As a user for the past year of the Meta Quest 2, I was excited to upgrade to the Meta Quest 3 and check out all the new features!
I have to say, as soon as I put the headset on, I could tell a difference. It was a lot more comfortable to wear, the way the headband works is confusing at first and it felt way to loose, but once you pull those two straps outwards towards your ears, the headset sat nice and snug on my head. The Quest 2 would almost pull my forehead back, making me have my eyes open wider than I wanted, but this Quest 3 is so much more comfortable. And it's not as heavy on your head either. It wasn't cumbersome at all.
When you power it on - man - what a difference! The visuals are so crystal clear, so sharp! And one of the other things you notice is the full color passthrough to your environment. That in itself makes a massive different to your experience of wearing the headset. The menus are so sharp and crisp, they look phenomenal.
Now one thing I noticed right away is that the menus are controlled slightly differently with the controllers to the previous Quest 2 which took a little getting used to, but you also have the ability to control the on screen actions with just your hands now, which is wild! You can point and touch and the headset tracks your hands and allows you to point and click and scroll with your hands! You can pinch and grab the menus, it's absolutely fantastic technology.
The experience with the headset on really transforms you to another world, be it a virtual world where you are standing on top of a skyscraper, challenging your vertigo, or if you are fully immersed in the Batman Arkham Shadow world, you are really transported to that environment! With 512GB of onboard storage as well, not only can you download the game that's included in this version of the Meta Quest 3, but you have the option to store and download so many other titles from the vast array available. My previous Quest 2 only had 128GB of onboard storage, so this expands on that greatly.
The color pass through really helps you have an truly interactive experience with your environment. You can play games that have monsters and zombies actually coming at you in your living room from a 'hole' in your living room wall. Something the Quest 2 couldn't do as the passthrough was very grainy and black and white. However, while the color passthrough on the Quest 3 is a giant leap forward, I still found that if my eyes were moving around a lot, the passthrough was still somewhat grainy or blurry, but if my eyes stopped and focused on one area, that it would look great.
Talking of the opticals, they are a complete step above the previous generation. They are so comfortable to look through, the focus is easy with the buttons on the bottom of the headset, and you can adjust them totally to your liking. However, I did notice that you do NOT get a cover for the optics at all, unlike the previous generation that did come with a cover to protect them.
There are plenty of aftermarket options for charging the headset, but you do get a charging cable and a power brick included to get you up and running.
There is also the Meta Quest app, that you can use to communicate and stream to your TV which works really well, stay up to date on the latest games and experiences available to you as well, so you never miss out.
Another experience that you may not have considered is the ability to watch a movie inside a movie theater, while sat on your couch. The experience is phenomenal, projecting an extremely large screen in front of you, with crystal clear visuals!
The overall upgrade from the Meta Quest 2 to the Meta Quest 3 is totally worth it! The controllers have been redesigned, they are slightly smaller and don't have the hoop that goes over your hand making them more convenient to hold and control. The fact that the headset is lighter and more comfortable is great too.
Battery life - you are more than likely going to want to get a battery extender. I played for a little over a hour straight right out of the box after charging it and it was at about 37% battery life left, so if you want to play for a couple of hours or more, then you will want a battery extender.
Overall, extremely happy with this upgrade, it's nice to unwind at the end of the day and be transported to another world, be it full of mayhem in the Batman game, or in the tranquility of an art studio, creating a 3D sculpture in front of you!

title: As a user for the past year of...
detailedReviews 5: content: I bought this headset because I tried a friend’s 3S and enjoyed the experience, but wanted the extra visual quality of the 3. In my opinion, the better resolution, additional storage, and better ergonomics and weight distribution were worth the premium. However, don’t expect 4k like your TV but it is a bump in image quality over the 3S. Overall I found the 3 to be a better experience than the 3S if the extra $200 isn’t a concern. I primarily used it to workout on an app called Supernatural which was a great experience. Sorry I had to give that up when ultimately I had to give up on the Quest all together, it was fun.
That’s where the fun stopped though. In the end, I gave up on this product because I purchased and had to return 5 units within a three month period due to malfunctions that I was unable to resolve through online research, trial and error, and Meta customer support (useless). I found instances online of people experiencing the exact same issue without any resolution, so this is not isolated. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t give any product more than three strikes, but I enjoyed the user experience when it worked as it was intended enough to keep trying (to a point). I had a couple of different issues, but it went like this: it would be fine for a few uses in a one to two week period, then randomly it would display a message onscreen that it had lost its ability to track in space with an option to continue without tracking or power off, but it also lost connection with the controllers so there was no way to interact. This left the only options being to either sleep or hard reset. Neither of which solved the issue. It would simply turn into Groundhog Day, the controllers were also inoperable and would vibrate every few seconds. At that point, restarting and/or doing a factory reset would solve nothing and ultimately end up bricking the headset. This happened with 5 headsets over a 10-12 week period purchased from two different Best Buy’s. I just lost faith in the quality control, the reliability of the product, and Meta’s willingness to address its shortcomings.
Let me also say that this does not at all reflect on Best Buy. I couldn’t be happier with their service and policies. This was a trying process and everyone I dealt with at both the Concord and Portsmouth stores in New Hampshire made it as easy as possible aided by the policies they maintain for their customers and members.

detailedReviews 6: content: Meta Quest 3 512GB — The Most Powerful Quest — Ultimate Mixed Reality Experiences — Get Batman: Arkham Shadow – White
The Meta Quest 3 512GB is a significant upgrade to the Meta Quest line of VR / Mixed Reality headsets. At 18.2 ounces, the Quest 3 is just slightly heavier than the Quest 2, at 17.7 ounces, but it is noticeably less bulky and, in comparison, seems more slim and trim. I was surprised it was heavier because, sensually, it feels lighter and slimmer on my head/face. Contributing to this feel are the sides, which are more rounded than the flat-walled Quest 2, making it seem even smaller. Wrapping horizontally and vertically over the back of your head is a three-point adjustable headband. By pushing the Y broader or narrower, you can quickly tighten or loosen the head strap. Additionally, you can separately adjust the top strap to stabilize the headset further.
The new motion controllers are what would have been the Pro controllers minus the cameras and rubberized grips. However, they are light and comfortable and a big improvement over the Quest 2 Controllers. Each one uses an AA battery, which is included in the box. Hand tracking has been majorly improved. Tapping the two joysticks together enables the hands-free feature, which took me a few attempts to get the hang of it. But when activated, it’s like experiencing VR anew. You can tap objects with a finger and swipe through the menus.
Powered by a Snapdragon XR2 Gen2 processor (with an Adreno GPU) that Qualcomm states is 2.5 times faster than the Quest 2’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 processor. Internal memory is 8 gigabytes with 512 gigabytes of storage. This unit is noticeably faster and smoother than prior Quest headsets.
For the display - It displays a 4K resolution 2,064-by-2,208-pixel picture to each eye, higher than the Quest 2's 1,832 by 1,920 and the Quest Pro's 1,920 by 1,800 (giving you 30% more pixels). The horizontal field of view increased from 96° to 110°. The pancake lenses provide a sharper image, clear and crisp from edge to edge. The continuous IAD is an improvement over the older Quest version, which used pupillary distance and only had three settings. The continuous IAD can adjust this distance within 1 millimeter. The combination of higher resolution and continuous IAD provides much sharper text, vibrant colors, and exciting experiences while gaming. If needed prescription lenses can be purchased from a 3rd party.
The software interface of the Meta Quest 3 (512) uses the same tutorials for set up and menu navigation as the earlier versions of the Meta Quest headsets, this brings the user into the VR world with ease of navigation and user interface.
The boundary setup of the Meta Quest 3 (512) has really improved – it quickly establishes your boundary area and is more accurate and easier to use.

title: Meta Quest 3 512GB — The Most Powerful...
detailedReviews 7: content: The Meta Quest 3. Is it worth upgrading to it from the Quest 2? Well I've owned the Quest 2 for a couple of years now and I can say that, for me, the upgrade is worth it.
If you don't own a VR or haven't owned one before, you may choose to go with the Quest 2 since you can get it for a really good price now. Not a bad idea to make sure you will enjoy the experience before spending more on the Quest 3, especially if you are (or even if you aren't) prone to motion sickness. I'm not typically bothered by it, but something about being in VR and moving around when you are physically standing still does something to your mind that feels wrong. Maybe it's because I'm getting older because my 11 year old doesn't seem to have any issues with it. However there are plenty of enjoyable ways to experience and use VR that don't cause any issues for me.
Watching movies, for example, is one thing that I feel the Quest 3 is much better for than the 2. With the increased resolution and the "pancake" style lenses, it's much closer to looking like it does in a theater. It's still not to the point of replacing your 4K Micro Mini QLED OLED UHD whatever whatever TV, but it's getting a lot closer. And as with anything else, some apps, games and content will look better than others. You will still see pixels in some things and others you probably won't. And the new lens fix a big problem I had with the Quest 2,which was the edges of the "screen" being blurry. You may still notice it a little bit at the far extremes of the image edges but it's way better than before. Being able to watch Netflix, Disney+, or any service you can access via a web browser without disturbing others or them having to watch too is fantastic. And I highly recommend checking out the Xstadium app. This is a really great concept where you can watch live sports courtside, from the 50 yard line or the endzone (on the field), and other locations inside of the stadium or arena.
Another big plus with the Quest 3 is the increased storage. I admit my 11 year old uses the Quest 2 way more than I do and has filled it up to the point he has to uninstall games to add new ones. If you're a console gamer the 512gb storage may not seem like much, but the apps and games for this are nowhere near the 100gb+ size of some of the console games (at least not for the time being). But they will add up as you find more and more apps and games you want to try out, and that library is steadily increasing.
Another big plus for the Quest 3 is the full color passthrough mode, or "mixed reality". There's passthrough on the Quest 2 (where you can see what's going on around you outside of the headset), but honestly it's pretty useless other allowing you to draw your boundaries. I liken it to old fuzzy black and white TV. You can can't see a lot of detail, and forget about checking your watch or phone. While the clarity of the Quest 3's full color passthrough isn't like looking through your phone camera or anything, it's leaps and bounds better than before, and you can actually use your phone and reply to messages, etc. And it's pretty cool to have a web browser, for example floating in front of you while you can still watch the kids or whatever else you might be doing. And I don't know how it does this, but looking at a light, like a lamp maybe and moving the browser or whatever other window in front of the light, completely blocks it as if you put a solid object in front of it. So it's not that things you see in VR while in passthrough mode are translucent, they are overlaid onto your real view of the world. There are also some pretty cool games and apps that take advantage of this better, full color passthrough mode, which to me makes this that much more useful, whether it's an app or game or even a virtual desktop.
Another change is that the controllers no longer have the big halo at the end of them, make them a little lighter and more useful in some situations, as well as the hand tracking being improved. You won't be spinning, flicking, and moving things around like your Tony Stark, but it is nice to be able to use the device without having to have a controller in your hand. However not all apps and games work with hand tracking. It's just not quite there yet. And it does work better when you have plenty of light as opposed to low light. But here's the thing, the light doesn't have to be visible. It can be infrared light. So if you want to lay in bed and use the thing while someone is sleeping, just get an infrared light and "light" up the room.
While the original versions of the Quest were not appealing to me yet, and though the Quest 2 was, but I found it underwhelming in areas enough that I ended up not using it much, I feel like the Quest 3 is now a usable, enjoyable device for me. It's not perfect, but it's a big step in the right direction, and what we'll be able to do in the next few iterations of these is going to be pretty crazy and fun. So I would recommend getting one of these and unless your expectations are not realistic, there are plenty of ways to enjoy this thing.

title: The Meta Quest 3. Is it worth upgrading...
detailedReviews 8: content: THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
The Meta Quest 3 is the first AR/VR headset I owned, and as someone who has always been a bit skeptical of VR, I have to say I have been more than impressed with the Meta Quest 3. Described as a Mixed Reality VR Headset, the Meta Quest 3 does a bit of everything. It is a PC, a gaming console, a VR headset, an augmented reality headset, a social networking device, and more. The Meta Quest 3 is a bit of a jack of all trades device, and if you are at all curious about VR or AR, it is definitely worth your time and investment, as it does it all so well, and is really a ton of value for the money. The fact that it comes bundled with a genuinely must-play game (VR or otherwise) in Batman Arkham Shadow, only makes the product even better. Highly recommended.
SET-UP
Setting-up the Meta Quest 3 is a bit of effort if you don’t already have a previous Meta Quest or aren’t already in the Meta ecosystem. You have to set-up your account, download the Meta Horizon app, and then configure your profile. The actual headset itself is easy to set-up for your face shape. All of the straps are easily adjustable by hand while it is on your head (vertical and horizontal tightness), and the headset comes with a built-in spacer for those with glasses. I particularly like that the spacer is included as a device feature with 4 levels of spacing, which makes it easy to adjust for your glasses and face type. It took a bit of playing around, but now it is easy to take on/off with minimal adjustment. Once on, you can also adjust the distance of the lenses to match your eye spacing, and once complete, you're good to go. Despite wearing my glasses in the headset at all times, I quickly got comfortable with it, although I do think if you can wear contact lenses you should, as you can still feel the extra pressure on your face from the glasses and lenses.
On the software side, once you have your account configured, you can link other accounts as needed, and then it is basically a PC with a lot of native software for AR & VR. You can shop for games & apps in the built-in store, download VR worlds for interacting with others, or just browse the internet like you would with a normal PC. The included controllers make it very easy and natural to navigate, move screens around, and otherwise get around the virtual environment. If you want, you can also use your hands as controllers, with specific actions like pinching which can allow you to interact with the environment. Personally, I found the controllers to be more natural and faster to use, but having a controller-less option is also nice, especially if using the Quest 3 on the go.
Overall, it takes a bit of headset on/off time, account set-ups, agreements, login screens, etc., to get it all set-up, but once up and moving, you shouldn’t need to worry about much, and the built-in tutorials work really well for taking you through everything, even for a novice like me.
MIXED REALITY
The first thing you will experience with the headset is the augmented or mixed reality features, which are in many ways the most impressive of the many features the headset offers. The passthrough cameras on the headset are quite good, although still distinctly cameras. You get color, decent resolution, and can make out text on things like your phone when using the headset. You won’t be fooled into thinking that you aren’t wearing a headset just by the vision quality alone, it is still very clearly a camera feed, and in lower-light situations it is still easy to tell it is passing a video stream. However, given that it at least makes the headset usable in the “real world” without needing to take it off is a big win.
What is also nice is that you can always go back into the mixed reality mode by tapping the headset twice on the side, so even when in VR or a game, you can quickly get back to the mixed reality mode and see your surroundings in seconds. Once in mixed reality though, there are a number of apps and features you can take advantage of. In my time with the headset so far, I have played a few AR games, and browsed the internet like I would on my PC. From the PC perspective, it works really well as you can easily open multiple windows, and set-up your desktop in the mixed reality mode so it is like your own personal workstation. I don’t think I could personally ever see myself using this for work, as it feels more complicated than what I need, but for casual browsing/multitasking it works well. The gaming side was where things really opened up for me. The First Encounters game that comes with the headset was amazing in how it mapped my room and then seamlessly made a shooting gallery game using my room as the arena. Even beyond gaming, you can use the headset to do things like learn piano using a virtual or a real keyboard, with virtual directions. It is honestly a bit amazing this is where the technology is at, and I was very impressed.
VIRTUAL REALITY
On the VR side, with the double tap of the headset, you can go into the VR mode. You always have to create a room boundary, where the headset can automatically map your room and identify areas where you can or cannot go. Then, if you approach the boundary, a virtual barrier appears in your apps to warn you, and if you go past it then it will take you back into the mixed reality mode. If you want, you can also draw manual boundaries, or if you are stationary in a seat, you can tell it that. It takes only a few seconds and works extremely well, and I have had no issues with it failing to map my room or misidentify where I cannot go.
Once in the VR space, you can play games (more on that below), explore virtual social worlds, watch VR youtube videos, use VR apps, and more. The resolution on the headset is great, and given the Snapdragon XR2 Gen2 processor, you can run most VR apps you would expect to run on a PC VR headset without issue. You can even use the Meta Quest 3 with your PC wired or wirelessly if you want, although I personally have not been able to test this yet. One of my personal favorite features is casting, where I can cast the VR display to my phone, so I can watch or others can watch what the person in VR is doing. If I mirror my phone to my TV, then we can have it up on the TV while someone is using the headset, which makes the whole VR experience, which is typically more solo, a group endeavor and in my opinion a lot more fun.
GAMING
This to me, is still where the headset is at its absolute best. Meta Quest 3 has a ton of games and a lot of developers building for it, and many of the games are excellent. I played two quite a lot with it in my time so far; Walkabout Mini Golf and Batman Arkham Shadow. Walkabout Mini Golf looks incredible and runs very smooth, giving you a bit of an introductory VR game that isn’t too disorienting, feels natural to play, and is a fun party game to play.
Batman Arkham Shadow on the other hand is another level. I have played every Batman Arkham game, and I was shocked by how much this one felt like it belonged right with the others. It doesn’t feel like a VR game for the sake of being a VR game, but a strong video game that happens to work really well in VR. That being said, you can go full VR experience if you want, or dial it back if you are new. I personally dove in the deep-end and did the “immersive” mode, which allows you to freely move around the environment, jump, glide, grapple, fight, and otherwise do anything Batman would do. It took a bit of time to get my VR sealegs, but after a bit, I quickly adjusted and was playing the game without any issues. Honestly, while I don’t have a ton of benchmarks for VR games, I do have a lot of gaming experience, and if Batman Arkham Shadow is anything to go by, VR gaming has a bright future ahead of it. The immersion is next level, and it runs super smooth throughout on the Quest 3 while still somehow looking great. It really is a demo for what the Quest 3 can do, and works extremely well at it. It is a must play, and honestly should be your first stop after getting the headset.
SOCIAL NETWORKING
I admittedly didn’t use these features a ton, but I did play around with the horizon worlds and virtual environments a few folks had set-up, and they were very impressive. Personally, I don’t know many people with VR headsets, and so I don’t know how much i would use a lot of these features, but if you do have other friends with VR, they can be very cool ways to feel like you are closer with folks who aren’t actually in the room with you. It still feels a bit niche to me, compared to the other apps & features of the headset, but could be a main feature for a lot of folks who like virtual networking.
THE REST & WRAP-UP
Battery life on the headset is okay, but could definitely be better. I get about 1.5 - 2 hours depending on what I am doing, but not much more. The headset stays silent, and if you are playing any media, the built-in speakers do an above average job of placing you in virtual worlds. I still would recommend using your own earbuds or headphones to really immerse yourself, but if you just want to use the headset and go, you really don’t need anything else. And I think that is the biggest winner for this in my book, it just works, and does it all on its own. You get everything in the box you need to use the device, no extra cords, controllers, computer, battery, etc., it just is an end-to-end piece of tech, and does it all really well. You can tell Meta has put a lot of money and time into the product, and it feels like it. It is arguably the most polished piece of tech I have used in a long time, and for how much it is trying to do, that is saying a lot. Mixed reality and VR may not be for everyone, but if it is for you, this one is very much worth a look.

title: THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT The Meta...
detailedReviews 9: content: I've been an enjoyer of video games since the late 1970's (arcade, PC and console)....but only recently tried VR for the first time when purchasing a Meta Quest 3....and was blown away....
One of the downsides, however, was the discomfort and added light bleed when using my eyeglasses. I also have contacts, but rarely wear them anymore, and found it a hassle to put them on any time I wanted to use the VR headset..and also found my eyes would dry out when using them.
I happened to hear about numerous companies making prescription lens inserts and started checking them out....One of the companies that kept popping up as good quality for the price, and good customer service was Reloptix....so I decided to give them a try.
Uploaded my prescription and purchased one of their kits. (Would like to add...when investigating other companies, their price would often start lower than Reloptix, but increase with every little option until you were paying, in some cases, quite a bit more than the comparable Reloptix...who's listed price actually WAS the price you paid, regardless of prescription or options.)
Took a few weeks to receive (this was clearly stated at the time of order), and I did receive a couple of emails with updates.
Received tracking information when they shipped, and received them on time and in good condition.
They come in a very nice hardshell plastic case (overkill maybe, but still, impressive to see).
I watched a clear and concise installation video they had put on their website....everything went nice and easy during the install (You do need to remove the "facial interface", if that makes you nervous...but it shouldn't...it pops right out).
And using them for the first time...I, at first, thought the prescription might have been off a little bit, as some things didn't seem as clear as I'd have liked....but, I think that might have just been me needing to adjust to them.
Now, after a few days, they seem fine....and again, the comfort level of the headset, because of the inserts, has increased dramatically...and I have less light bleed than before (an unexpected and very welcome benefit), which has led to more enjoyment and a more immersive feeling, when using the headset.
If you wear glasses, I would definitely recommend getting prescription lens inserts ....and based on my experience, so far, with Reloptix, I would absolutely put them on your short list for vendors to investigate, and purchase from.

detailedReviews 10: content: We are upgrading from the original Meta Quest to the Quest 3 and what an upgrade! Our account easily loaded to the new Quest 3 and immediately we were downloading the games we already have to the new spacious 512 GB hard drive. The rest of the setup was simple as always with the creation of your boundaries.
The first thing we noticed playing even old games like Angry Birds was the picture quality with the upgraded resolution. The added sharpness to the picture adds even more to the virtual aspects, making you feel like you are in the game.
Now for the mind blowing new feature, the mixed reality. The first demo game of shooting little moving balls while also seeing your living room and blowing holes in your real/virtual wall was amazing. Seeing something drop down through your ceiling is pretty cool too. We only played the demo game but can't wait to see what else the mixed reality features can bring for games.
Another new feature that works well is using your virtual hands instead of the controllers. So far we have only used that feature with Batman but it really seems like the next advance for the future, using hands instead of a controller.
The headset for this model is easily adjustable and goes from my adult head to the kids with a few minor adjustments. The speakers are plenty loud and tapping the side of the headset to go from virtual to reality is a great feature to have instead of taking the headset off to see what's happening around you. Speaking of our kids, besides playing games, they continue to use the new model to run away to virtual reality by watching videos on Youtube.
I have seen the other reviews of people worrying about the lower battery life. Yes it uses the battery faster, but you are now running a more powerful device so its a fair tradeoff. The good news about charging is the connection to charge is USB-C so its a simple cord and not cumbersome.
Overall we are blown away by the upgrade and would suggest anyone else thinking about it to go for it.

detailedReviews 11: content: It took 5 weeks between order placement and delivery (by DHL) of my prescription lenses but I was well aware it would take this long and was fine with that as I had seen many excellent reviews. I normally wore contact lenses and thought I should get my eyes retested for an up to date prescription and told my optician what it was for, while also getting a pair of glasses for general use in the evenings, etc. I sent the prescription to Reloptix when I placed my order.
However, a few weeks later I noticed that my vision wasn't as good and the optician said the contact lenses had changed the shape of my eyes, especially the right one, by flattening the front of it. I then realised that, when the Reloptix lenses arrived, they would not be in perfect focus either. The optician then gave me a new prescription since my eyes had then settled, and I placed another order with Reloptix which arrived much quicker (using UPS this time). She also explained that if I wore my contact lenses again then the eyes would change shape again to the "old" prescription and the first Reloptix lenses would be in focus ok. But, so far, I haven't gone back to wearing contacts.
Jason and Will have been great about all of this and even gave discount for my extra set with the new prescription as well as discount on my daughters non- prescription lenses to protect her headset lenses. Excellent customer support !
As for the lenses themselves, they are really good. Excellent sturdy packaging to begin with, very easy to click in the base section for each lens and then the magnetic lens itself attached easily to the base and has a strong magnetic grip with no danger of it falling out. As for my vision with the new prescription, everything is perfectly sharp. I can also easily switch over to my daughter's headset if I need to, just by swapping the magnetic lenses over. I'm really glad I got them, and Reloptix seems like a great company to deal with. I'll be dealing with them again when my wife gets her eyes tested and gets her prescription, as we've three Meta Quest 3 headsets in the house !

detailedReviews 12: content: I’m somewhat new to VR, but have used the Quest 2 for around 15-20 hours so I can give a little perspective as a newbie and a novice who can compare the two devices. I will say that the Quest 3 is very impressive and I have enjoyed my time using both the Quest 2 and Quest 3, and that the latter is a great upgrade.
Setting up the Quest 3 was easy and didn’t take very long to get going. I did have an issue when trying to connect to Wifi when choosing the option to connect with a QR code on my phone. I created the QR code but the Quest 3 could not read it, so I had to enter the info manually. No big deal, but I figure the setup would be quick and seamless since it’s been out for years. Other than that, the setup was smooth and I had already purchased some games in advance that were populated in my library. Some big advantages of the Quest 3 over the prior model is the color passthrough, looks so much better and you can do things in the real world much easier with the headset still on! Also makes the mixed reality apps much more realistic. The Quest 3 can automatically draw your boundaries for you, just be looking around. Very nice perk! While I’ve been using the Quest 3 for a few days, I have friends who also own both versions and they tell me motion sickness seems to be much better on 3 as well.
Battery life is decent but I would recommend a new headstrap as the one that comes with it isn’t very supportive. I like to get the ones with a swappable battery option built into a headset that provides both comfort and extended usage, especially since an addictive game will go by quicker than you think. The built-in battery gets you about 2-3 hours of usage, so having a spare on the headset is very helpful. Speaking of, the Quest 3 comes with the Batman game at the time of this writing which is actually an impressive game. The graphics look good and the game play is fun, not to mention a decent workout fighting villains! After my buddy played it for one evening, he decided he wanted to go buy the Quest 3 as well which speaks for itself on the game. So now we have the option to play multiplayer and co-op games together, but sadly Batman doesn’t have that option.
Casting the screen to the TV is a nice feature for those around you so they can see what your wild swings and movements are all about. I have noticed some weirdness with the casting on my headset such as some instability like shaking or distorted picture briefly, but it goes away. Make sure you have the right type of streaming device to cast to, I used my Nvidia Shield and it works well. I also connected the headset to my PC which is a very cool option. I am able to look at my computer monitors but they are like room-size monitors which looks awesome. I have yet to test out any advanced features such as using mouse or keyboard or other mixed reality productivity apps, but the features that are built-in are pretty solid. I’ve connected to my PC both Wirelessly and with the wired USB cable. Both options worked well and were fairly easy, just make sure you have the proper software on your PC and you should be good to go.
Overall, I love the Quest 3 and its upgrades. I also recommend getting the larger 512GB as my buddy has the 128GB and is already maxed out and regrets not getting the larger size. I’m also at around the 120GB of used storage space after only a few days and I feel like I haven’t even put that many apps on here. Its good for all ages….everyone around seems to want to play it too, so it makes for a nice entertainment option if you have family living with you or visiting. Its also a great way to connect with friends you don’t see often. For instance, I have friends that live out of state and we sit at a virtual table together and play poker. I think this product is great and looking forward to exploring all the productivity ways I can take advantage of it.

title: I’m somewhat new to VR, but have used...
detailedReviews 13: content: I have used VR headset for few years now, some early phone based one, PC VR with Rift S, followed by Quest 2 some months back. Quest 3 no doubt is superior with the newer pancake lenses, higher resolution and a lot more processing power than the Quest 2. BUT the best thing I liked in Quest 3 over others is the wonderful passthrough mode. I can finally walk around the house wearing the headset, if say I need to go look at my kid or go to kitchen to get a glass of water or most other things. The VR headset can now be worn for a longer duration.
The supplied headband is not great, same as Quest 2, so you have to either order the elite from Meta or a third party one. With aftermarket headband, the device is comfortable, definitely feels lighter vs Quest 2.
The OS interface is same between devices and Quest 3 looks just a tad sharper, in fact in most of the games with 2d texture I did not notice much sharpness despite the higher resolution. Higher refresh rate does makes it feel a lot smoother so a really welcome addition.
Hand tracking worked decently but after being used to of the controller for a lot of time, I just go back to them the moment I put the headset on.
The games I play are mostly sports/arcade type and all worked decently, from Pistol Whip, Synth Rider to Cricket, Tennis. Perhaps I ought to use the Oculus optimizer to get the more juice out of it.
I would have really liked if Quest 2 official accessories like the Elite head strap and the official case work with Quest 3, unfortunately that is not the case. Except this one thing, I am pretty happy with the new device and the improvement. Quest 3 is a much-needed improvement in VR head set and I just wish that Meta will produce more 1st party games for this device.

title: I have used VR headset for few years...
detailedReviews 14: content: TLDR - If you’re interested in VR or have an old VR headset and want to upgrade, the Quest 3 is sooo good!*
I had only dabbled in basic plastic VR a few years ago and had never really messed around with real VR until I got this Quest 3. Right away, even during setup, the AR floating menus were great with keeping tabs on what's around you, and helping me get used to the experience. Being pretty big into sports, I first tried watching some highlights of games using Xtadium, not a bad experience, but not exactly mind blowing. Being courtside on an NBA game is at least a view I will most likely never experience, so that was quite neat. I then tried the Batman game, wow what an experience for a VR noob, I was caught off guard and definitely terrible at the controls, but it was cool punching dudes out, tossing your batarangs, grabbing on the rungs of a ladder, and more once I got the hang of it. (I’m still terrible) Where I feel like the true best experience I’ve had so far was the puzzle type games, more specifically I am an escape room junkie, and I was able to play “I expect you to die 2”. WOW, what a blast, it was SO easy to get lost in the spy world for a bunch of hours! (I died a lot)
I then tried plugging it into my desktop since I have a higher end system. (7700x + 7900XTX) WOW steam VR is also AWESOME with the Quest 3, but one massive caveat for me, (and possibly others with annoyingly weak stomachs) everything I had been playing so far had chunky movement, which I felt was annoying so I searched out a demo that was a smooth first person experience. OH BOY was that a bad idea, I got SO nauseated after just a couple minutes of moving around I had to stop! So yea, I learned a lesson, if you have motion sickness issues, only play seated or “chunky” movement games! Otherwise, GET A QUEST 3, it's SO FUN! Can’t wait to have my family/friends test it out over the holidays!

detailedReviews 15: content: Short version: best value for money, works great on it's own and connected to pc. Get different headstrap, cannot overstate how much a headstrap with a fan helps (like bob vr s3). Detailed version: I got this while I was looking for a headset, specifically to use with PC. Considering the quest 3 has the hardware of a cellphone, I wasn't very confident that this would be a good fit. However, nearly every other headset on the market is sitting somewhere around 500 to 1000 dollars more than this, so I gave the Quest 3 a shot. Needless to say I've been pleasantly surprised with how well this works. On PC, it connects pretty easily (depending on which way you connect) and so long as you have a good wifi connection and a PC sufficient to run your game of choice, it works great. The PC does the heavy lifting and the quest just becomes an interactive display. The pancake lenses are a mile beyond fresnels, which really helps bridge the gap compared to some other headsets that might beat quest on pure resolution. Plus, the IPD settings on this allows you to get a much finer picture compared to some headsets (like the 3S for example) that only have a handful of preset settings. The battery life is ok but I highly recommend getting a third party head strap with a built in battery. The Elite Strap is waaay overpriced and honestly isn't worth it. I cannot recommend enough getting a head strap with a built in fan (like the bobo vr s3) as the headset gets pretty hot while gaming (something I noticed immediately while using a friend's headset with the elite strap). Overall it's been great.

detailedReviews 16: content: My previous VR headset is an HTC Vive Cosmos and while it's been discontinued, it was a decent headset because it didn't require Light Towers. However, it did require a physical connection to my computer for processing power. While there were wireless adapters, I couldn't make the investment at the time. Fast forward a few years later and the Meta Quest 3 steps up the game with higher resolution, better ergonomics and independent processing power.
Like the HTC Vive Cosmos, the Meta Quest 3 uses SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) tracking. It uses the headset's built-in cameras to map the surrounding environment and track its own position within that space.
Since the Quest series has entered the market, it has dominated and I believe I heard that it has 95% of the VR market share. And for good reason. Despite being a wireless device which means all the processing power and battery capacity are on board the Quest 3 headset, it's still about 100 grams lighter than the HTC Vive Cosmos. That's impressive. The Quest 3 has great resolution, decent battery life, and the focus adjustment stays solid whereas the Cosmos I had to adjust every so often. Plus Meta continues to grow their already vast media, game and application library.
In the box, you don't get much the headset is set up with no assembly required. The controllers have a pull tab on each to enable the battery. The controllers each have a triangular button that you press to unlock the battery door and each controller is powered by a single AA battery.
The headset has a velcro release to adjust the viewing height while straps in the back are adjusted to help you keep the visor to your eyes. On the left side there is a USB-C port that is used to charge the Meta Quest 3. A USB-C cable is included as well as a wall adapter that is capable of 18 Watts. The power button sits just below the USB-C port. Underneath there is a dial for moving the lenses, wireless charging contacts, and a volume rocker button. On the right side, there is an audio jack port. Inside the lens area, there is a button on either side for depth adjustment.
Like some of the modern smart sunglasses, there are speakers built into the temples and are rear firing so they are aimed towards your ears.
After setting up the Meta Quest, I set up Meta Quest Link on my desktop and was super impressed with the way I could operate my PC in the Quest 3 as a Virtual Desktop. I could watch movies, operate my PC, browse the web, all in my Quest 3 and set it up with large monitors. It was great.
I was also able to transfer movies to the storage of the Quest 3 and then pull it up as a movie file and depending on the application, it can make it look like you're in a theater watching the movie. I also downloaded some sample 3D environments like a cavern looking out into a forest and it was quite impressive. I also viewed a free documentary/immersive experience about rebuilding Notre Dame.
While all that was happening, I was downloading Batman: Arkham Shadow. I've played about a half hour of the game and I'm truly impressed. The graphics are great. The interaction is well thought out. It really demonstrates the capabilities of the Meta Quest 3. I can't wait to get back into the game.
However, there is a bit of a downside with a fully immersive game. Most of the interaction with the Quest 3 is in a Mixed Reality setting. You see your real life environment through the built in cameras and the resolution isn't crystal clear. But at least my brain can match up my movements to what I'm seeing through the Quest 3 cameras. However, when in a game like Batman: Arkham Shadow, I cannot reconcile my movements (or lack thereof) to the movements with the game. So I get a little bit of simulator sickness after 30 minutes or so.
Overall, I'm really enjoying this VR generational jump from the HTC Vive Cosmos to the Meta Quest 3. I'm looking forward to getting some of the popular games like Beat Saber and possibly Star Wars: Vader Immortal.

title: My previous VR headset is an HTC Vive...
detailedReviews 17: content: Talk about an immersive experience! I previously owned the Quest 2 and found it to be a good experience, if not great for playing games like Beat Saber. The Quest 3 is an improvement above and beyond what I could have ever expected.
First, the quality of the visuals is fantastic, and by far, is the most immersive VR set I've had the opportunity to try. The pass through lenses provide a full color view of your surroundings, almost making it feel like you aren't wearing a headset at time. My previous experience was a black and white and somewhat grainy view from the Quest 2. The Q3 is a huge upgrade.
Beyond the visuals, the impressive view in my mind is the level of comfort with the Q3. I can game for an hour with the headset on and it just feels lighter, more comfortable, and less of a weight on my head. It's a huge improvement in terms of design.
Probably as equally important is refresh rate. 90-120hz VR is awesome and makes a huge difference in apps that support it. Motion is so much more fluid.
Now for my particular use case. I love to play video games, and about 5 years ago got into retro games and virtual pinball. I even went as far as to build a 3/4 size pinball cabinet with force feedback and arcade buttons, and instead of mechanical parts, it runs off a PC and 3 monitors. With the Quest 3, I am able to hook the headset into my PC, use the cabinet as a controller (flippers, plunger, etc.), and play entirely in VR. It is so immersive and impressive to play in almost 4K with 120hz on a headset. Yes, you need a capable PC, but it's a fantastic experience.
Short of that, there are virtual pinball apps in the Quest store that you can purchase and get a similar immersive experience.
Hooking up the Quest to a PC to play PC games is pretty simple. There are a few options to play wired (with a separate Link cable to be purchased) or wireless with the Oculus AirLink. Both worked well for me in my testing, but I think I will stick with wired connection when I can, just because my wireless connection to my router can be flaky sometimes (where I play VR and where my router is are in different rooms). Being closer to the router would likely make a difference.
Overall, in my testing, I found the Quest 3 to be a huge upgrade over previous generations. I definitely plan to VR more and am excited to explore other worlds in what is really becoming an immersive experience.
Finally, the last thing I will mention is that the controllers are also an upgrade over previous generations. Menus are snappy and you can even simply use your hands and gestures as a controller, which is a great experience.

detailedReviews 18: content: In the box is the headset, USB-C to USB-C charging and data cable and power adapter, two controllers with wrist straps and included AA batteries. There is also a code for the Batman Arkham Shadow game and information for limited warranty and the MetaQuest Plus subscription.
Disclaimer, I am an owner of the first and second generation oculus.
First Impression - The box that the meta quest comes in makes the product seem like it is super heavy but once unboxed, it the meta quest and the accessories are so much lighter. Also, the headset, the controllers are so much smaller.
Comfort - The headset is much more comfortable. The older versions were heavier and felt like you are leaning forward a lot. This version gives you less fatigue because the weight of the headset is more evenly distributed. Also, I have a couple of glasses that I wear that are HUGE and this headset allows you to wear larger frames with ease. Also if you have a lot of hair, you don’t have to tie your hair up as much as the straps are much are much more comfortable as well.
Battery Life - This version of the headset has much better battery life, and a relatively faster charge. Good for a few hours of playtime depending on your game, and of course brightness.
Visual - The augmented reality is less distorted and more in focus. I also enjoyed the gentler movement blur to reduce motion sickness. The accelerometer has definitely improved. (With the previous models, some of the games I played gave me HUGE motion sickness.) The visual is also clearer. Loading times for games are much faster with the added RAM.
Controllers - I impressed with the new controllers. They are much lighter and mold to your hands and it feels more immersive without the shifting weight of the priory attached ring. Also the hand tracking is much better with this newer version.
I would like to add that the Meta Quest Plus subscription is for three months and is included with the purchase of the 128GB and the 512GB. (Great way to test new games for free and or discount with the included subscription.)
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this to friends and family.

detailedReviews 19: content: The Quest 3 is a very Impressive VR Device with a very Uncomfortable Mask that gets Hot n sweaty, so get A better Mask with some memory foam and ventilation slits like the AMVR Mask/pad. I am coming From PCVR, I Will never spend Money in the Metaverse. I Have had experience with the Vive Pro 2, Quest 2, and now Quest 3. Bang for Buck this thing is pretty awesome,,, I thought I'd miss my Index controllers,,, Not really. There is a slight learning curve to figure out like right joy click is select weapon menu in HL Alex, but once you figure it out it's pretty close to 1 to 1. I have a Vive wireless kit and Quest 3 is easily 5 times more Stable out of the Box dealing with Steam VR and it does the wireless part Prettier than Vive(pretty sad for all the money in my Vive/ light houses/ wireless). I don't like the Owner, But the Quest 3 is What I would tell my friends to get if you want into VR ATM. The pan Cake Verse the frenal lenses are a pretty big difference Between the Pro 2 and Quest 3. I can Run Resolutions and Frames similar to a Vision Pro while Wired on The Vive, but It's not as nice without the Pancake lenses to where This looks better overall. I can see specific details up close in the Pro 2's better, but your peripheral isn't as good by a longshot and the specific details in focus are pretty close to almost as good. It's Kinda like Having a bigger 1440p display vs a 4k with Vasoline smeared in the corners. Is the Pancakes lenses worth a $200 difference? I Hate to say it but Yeah,, I don't have a 3s but I have a quest 2 and Vive pro 2 and Yeah Its Pretty Dang Nice. I notice peripheral goings on alot better. I hate the Closed Garden Meta shop, like Come-on dude It's Android, where's Brave Browser? Where's Terminal? Why won't this APK work? Amazon Fire is Cute by comparison. PC Forever!

title: The Quest 3 is a very Impressive VR...
detailedReviews 20: content: The Meta Quest 3 is undoubtedly the best VR experience to date, even with a couple missteps that don’t hinder the overall experience. If you’re anything like me, you’ve had the sentiment of “are we there yet?” when wondering if VR was worth the time and investment. Well, I’m pleased to say it’s not just a gimmick anymore. This is the real deal.
-Impressions/UX-
The Quest 3 has the premium look and feel that oozes quality, from the sleek headband and frontal headpiece to the all-new Touch Plus controllers. After the initial setup these peripherals will feel like an extension of you in no time. One handy feature is the guardian boundary which automatically scans your room with its new depth sensor. This can be done manually too and allows a virtual fence to keep from colliding with physical items like furniture. Perhaps the best innovation is the color passthrough mode. Simply double tap the side of the headset at any time to switch between virtual and mixed reality modes which allow you to see your environment as normal. The clarity is equally as impressive with the 30% boost in resolution over the Quest 2. With the help of the incredibly stunning visuals, you’ll truly forget you were even sitting/standing in a room and instead transported to another world of wonder. Seriously, the dual LCD lenses capable of 4k resolution and a 110-degree field of view means visibility is superb. One key feature for me personally was the built-in extender for glasses wearers. This was a welcome change over the Quest 2, which required a separate spacer. A small gripe with the controllers is that they take standard batteries rather than rechargeable, however the headset itself is. Another challenge I faced was battery life. Therse’s an impressive amount of tech put into these VR systems, though roughly two and half hours is the most I’ve been able to get per use. This means I usually plan whether I’m going to game or browse and watch media during my session. It's not the end of the world, but I'd like to see an improvement, nonetheless. You can also opt to use the new hand tracking option and put down the controllers. I’ve seen mixed reception so far, but it is a neat and handy feature, especially for simply browsing menus or even light gaming like my favorite new puzzle game, cubism.
-Gaming-
Speaking of gaming, I was happy to get my virtual hands-on Batman Arkham Shadow and Meta Quest+ Free trial. As an avid Batman fan who completed all past Arkham games, this was right up my alley. As cliché as it may sound, yes, you really do feel like Batman. Everything from the level design to the audio and the excellent voice acting, this world is familiar yet welcomed with an entirely new perspective. After several hours with it, this deserves a spot among the best batman games to date. For a beginner like me, gaming on the Quest 3 took some getting used to but has quickly become some of the most fun I’ve had in a long time. With the addition on Meta Quest+, you can get access to a rotating library of games that increases monthly, and you can keep and play these anytime as long as you have an active subscription. As stated above, one of my new favorite games is cubism. It’s a cozy puzzle game that you can even play with just your hands. Arranging predetermined block pieces to create a shape.
-Conclusion-
The Meta Quest 3 marks the best time to jump into VR if you’ve been holding out. Now that I’ve got my VR fix, I can say it’s a worthy addition to my gaming routine. The software could use some iterating in due time, and it may not be for everyone, including those who fall victim to motion sickness. Otherwise, you’re in for a heck of a good time.

detailedReviews 21: content: This is a great standalone headset for for the money for multiple reasons. Even though the screens aren't quite as high quality as an OLED, they're still great considering the price. The visual quality is great, it's honestly surprising how good the resolution is and even more surprising the difference in quality compared to the Quest 2- standalone headsets are not only viable for the mainstream now but the visual quality paired with passthrough allows for an incredibly deep range of applications. This headset isn't without a couple of hiccups, such as the comfortability stock strap and face shield, but if you're willing to spend an additional $25 to $50 (here's looking at you, Yoges!) the unit becomes quite comfortable especially with rear occipital support and face shield material (in my uploaded images). It's actually light enough that it feels balanced without having to add a counterweight to the back, although an aftermarket strap with a battery on the backend makes it far more comfortable and balanced. I'm honestly impressed with headset and it makes me believe the future of VR is going to be something truly special, I highly recommend this headset as a fantastic balance in build quality, visual fidelity, cost, and ease of use. While the screen quality isn't perfect this headset still gets 5 stars from me because the price is great- in the future if an OLED model becomes available definitely get that, but until then this is a great option. If you're not a hardcore enthusiast that needs the best of everything or if you're just getting into VR, look no further.

detailedReviews 22: content: I ended up only keeping this for a couple of weeks because unfortunately after only like 20 minutes I would get pretty nauseous. However, that is not a problem with the Quest but a problem with VR so I don't hold it against them. The system itself is pretty cool and when you first put it on and press the immersive button it is pretty amazing you immediately feel like your in a huge open space.
The games take a longish time to load and several times just wouldn't for a few tries and then would again. It also doesn't always see your hands or controllers and will take a minute to relink or something. It also has a thing where it scans your room for your open area and then is supposed to show you that outline briefly when you venturing into nonopen space - I found this to be very hit or miss, sometimes it just wouldn't do it at the start of the game and other times when it had done it it wouldn't show up until you were well into nonopen space.
It was also fun just using it to look on the internet and what not. It puts an adjustable "touch" screen in front of you, navigating with your hands was especially nice and pretty intutitive. I unfortunately never watched any movies with it but I definitely think that would be cool.
Overall it's very neat but I think VR itself still has a ways to go and hopefully they figure out why some people get really nauseous and a way to countercact it. Also here is a picture of my brand new, 3 days old, baby goat because he's adorable and I get another entry if I include a picture.

detailedReviews 23: content: I’ve been playing the Quest 2 since 2020 and have really enjoyed it despite some of the faults it had. The Quest 3 improved some of those issues and made a much more enjoyable gaming experience.
Let’s start with the weight of the device. With the previous version, it felt like you were carrying around a laptop on your head…especially if you added a premium head strap with a battery attachment. The Quest 3 doesn’t feel as heavy. What’s funny is that the new Quest 3 is actually 12g (about 0.4 oz) heavier than the predecessor; however, with more of the weight closer to the head (thinner headset), it feels like there is less stress on the neck.
The other issue I had with the previous version was the battery life. When we first got it, it worked for about 2 hours before it needed to be recharged. This isn’t much better, but I did make it about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Either way, if you have friends over or kids in the house, a battery pack you can connect to the device will be useful. What I am interested in seeing is how well the device maintains that amount of usage time. After a few years with the previous generation, the internal battery only lasts about 30-40 minutes. I’m hoping this doesn’t degrade as much.
When actually using the device, you can see the improvements they have made right away. The default view of your surroundings is now in color. Huge improvement!
You set your boundary or have the device create one for you to make sure you don’t hit your tv or anything else while in game mode. I didn’t like the boundary the device created since it tried to maximize the space. I’ve seen people completely lose track of where they were and almost hit a wall or person since they don’t see them. I created a boundary that kept them away from anything that could be broken…including their hands if they punched a wall.
Game play is incredible. Batman Arkham Shadow came with the Quest 3. The visuals are very smooth and realistic…in a cartoonish way. I’ve had a couple other first person shooter type games and this one is the best that I’ve tried on the Quest platform. It took me a little while to not feel like I was going to fall over when moving around with the joystick. Once I got used to that, the game play was really good.
While setting up the Quest 3, it asked if I wanted to import all my previous data from my profile. That downloaded all my games and game updates without any hassle. I was able to play all the Beat Saber music I already purchased, as well as, Super Hot and Arizona Sunshine within minutes.
Lastly, I recommend buying a premium headstrap with a spot for a battery pack and knob to tighten the strap. It just makes playing it so much more comfortable and allows you to play for a much longer time.

title: I’ve been playing the Quest 2 since 2020...
detailedReviews 24: content: The best VR headset, hands down.
The meta quest 3 is the successor to the meta quest 2 and that is VERY apparent during both initial setup and usage afterwards.Pros:Clarity, Clarity is an absolute GEM with this VR headset, the pancake lenses are so good and clear that when I tried to use a quest 2 it was like looking through the pancake lenses but rubbed all over with VaselineGameplay: the increased resolution and power compared to the quest 2 are absolutely insane. To put it in perspective, The quest 2 and 3 both do a game called "beatsaber" at a lower than native resolution. Looks a little pixelated but that's what the quest 2 could do. Quest 3 can play at the quality of a PC if you tweak it right (install mods to increase resolution, quest 2 would struggle)Weight: The weight distribution is also better, even though the headset is only slightly lighter, because the headset itself is closer to yout face, the weight extrudes less meaning its less front heavy causing less strain on your neck.Middle:Comfort- Comfy headset? Heck yes! But not really with the included strap. The included strap doesn't really even out the weight and puts too much pressure on eyebrows, nose, and cheeks. I found that a halo strap (usually around $35+, mine is the bobovr m3 pro) is a MUST have. The weight makes it feel like you aren't even WEARING a headset.Cons:Space for glasses- if you wear glasses then you will need either an additional spacer for the face cover or lense inserts (I use the Zenni inserts, meta approved). They definitely helped a ton, before when I used glasses with it it put a ton of pressure on my face, which made it bruised in the middle right between my eyes, however, the lense inserts are so good cannot even feel them!Misinterpreted con:Battery life-Battery life is technically worse, however, this is because of passthrough (most of the time, anyways). Passthrough requires the headset to process both a GAME and the environment around you, It isn't just a camera displaying an image, it's 4 cameras stitching together an image in real-time and sensing depth ad well as keeping track of where you are in the plane of the 3d vr world to ensure proper tracking. Hence why it uses more Battery. The quest 3 also uses more battery in heavier more "intesive" games that take advantage of the quest 3's extra performance over the quest 2. An easy and not too expensive remedy is a Battery bank. For games in which you have to move around I recommend the bobovr m3 pro or S3 because they feature Battery packs, the m3 pro has a 5000mah battery bank that increases battery capacity by around 2-3 hours and the s3 around 4-6. And these batteries are hot swappable meaning you can buy more, charge them as you play, and when your existing batteries die you can change them! For basically infinite playtimeI totally recommend this headset for anyone either still on the quest 1, sharing a quest 2, or as your first VR headset ever. Battery life isn't really a problem and a battery bank (18watts or higher) is a great way to fix any battery life issues you'll have, especially for Mixed reality passthrough games

detailedReviews 25: content: VR has come a LONG way since it's introduction. I have used and played around with the Oculus when it was 1st launched and also the PSVR but I would suffer from motion sickness rather quickly. Also being tethered to the PC or Console was restrictive. Everything from how smooth the video feed was to being 100% wireless with the freedom of movement made me have soooo much fun with it.
Setup
In the box is the Quest itself, they wireless controllers for each hand, a power brick with USB C cable and the paperwork. Since I was already part of the Meta universe (glasses etc) I thought it would be easy to get logged in, but instead you have to DL and use another App called Meta Horizon to get started. So before donning on the headset, I logged into the Horizon app and created my Avatar (omg this brought back Fallout 4 and Skyrim PTSD). Easily could spend hours upon hours creating and tweaking every single bit of my "character" but instead I opted for the selfie and it made a super awesome version of me. Just added clothes I would never wear IRL to look cooler and I was good to go lol.
Once I put on the headset and went through the walkthrough on what the Meta Quest 3 can do, I was and still am absolutely stunned. Whether it be in the Immersive World or using Pass Through to be in AR, the picture quality was real time. I did NOT suffer any type of lag, jittering, skipping or motion sickness once.
Performance
I know 100% I still have not used the Meta Quest 3 to it's full potential and it still continues to surprise me. I love how I can sit on the couch and create a massive or small theater to stream video right in front of me. For example, the screen is added to the AR world and does not move (like I was used to in older VR sets) and no matter where I walk, it knows exactly where the screen is. You could even walk behind it. There is also the Immersive VR World where you surround yourself to your liking and can just be free of the real world. Lots of demos to enjoy and experiences to play.
Another thing I have been using is the Air Link option to connect to my desktop. You simply download the App from the website and go through a step by step setup to link the headset to your PC and you can have a virtual PC at your disposal. Super cool feature. I have a UW monitor and it also mimics it in the VR world (think The Matrix). I can control and use the PC like I normally do as if I was sitting right in front of it. What I love the most about this is I could easily log into my Steam Library and play my VR games with no problems at all (just had to spend some time button mapping 1st). It was great experiencing my favorite game Subnautica all over again in VR.
So far with the 512GB of included storage, I have downloaded about 10 games from the Meta App itself and still have well over 400 left. Though I wish there was a way to add a micro sd slot to bump it up, so far there hasnt been really a need for it.
Battery Life
So far on average, I get roughly a little over 2 hours of "play" before I need to plug in to recharge. This way I can take breaks throughout the day as it does take about an hour to fully charge with the included charger. Now on the other hand, if you have a long another USB C cord, you can plug right in while wearing it and charge on the fly. I do have the wireless charging station on the way and am excited for it because it will include batteries for the controllers to make everything rechargeable.
Glasses User?
Fear not and rejoice! You can use Zenni (recommended by Meta themselves) and give them your prescription and in less then a week, you have a pair on lenses you can use with the Meta Quest 3. The lenses just snap on top of the ones already in the Quest and you are good to go. Cost is about $50 but worth it.
Comfort
Excellent is all I can say here. Completely adjustable to your preference and does NOT weigh a lot at all. I have not had any type of discomfort from it staying on my head the whole time wearing it. Sound quality is shocking great too. No headphones or anything like that, just speakers imbedded that blast sounds directly into you ears.
I am excited for the future of VR if this is the step it is taking. The Meta Quest 3 is an amazing piece of tech and can do so much already. Though battery life is semi short, the other positives on the list like being Immersive, gaming, video quality, streaming etc makes this such a great choice for anyone on the market.

title: VR has come a LONG way since it's...
detailedReviews 26: content: Great headset. I’ve tried the Quest 2 and the Quest 3 and the image quality on the Quest 3 is much better. The Quest 3 is clear (not blurry) across nearly the entire field of view, as opposed to the Quest 2 which gets extremely blurry anywhere except right in the center of the view.
But there is one major flaw - Meta does not have a client for interfacing with Mac! They had one previously but no longer! This means that you cannot connect the headset to your Mac to use VR features of Mac applications or games. Of course, the Meta Quest 3 works great as a standalone device (you don’t ever NEED to connect it to a computer to play games or whatever), but the device’s potential is limited if you have a Mac system. For example, I wanted to use the Quest 3 for my flight simulator on my MacBook Pro with M2 chip but cannot do so because both wired and wireless interfaces do not work with Mac. However, if you want to use your Quest 3 as a monitor for your Mac, this is actually supported via Remote Desktop, although it is very laggy and will give you a bit of a headache after a short use. The difference is that mirroring your screen from Mac to Quest is supported, while using your headset to directly and natively control the applications your Mac is running is not supported. On the other hand, if you’re on Windows, everything should be supported.

detailedReviews 27: content: My son got one of these more than a year ago and I used it from time to time and really liked it. I do have motion sickness but with constant use it got better. I like a lot of the fitness apps and so I ordered one for myself.
The picture is very clear and realistic and the large memory is also a plus. The only downside is the strap that comes with it. It’s not real good and I would suggest to get a better one. It makes a huge difference when exercising and planning for a long time. The battery is good for like 2 hours but if you want to play longer, there are some little rechargeable batteries that are cheap and I bought a set (I don’t like to end my fitness session when I run out of batteries). The hands tracking is amazing in some apps.
I bought some fitness app when they were having sales and I like it better the going to a gym. I tried one subscription based that had zumba and it’s amazing. I just add games in my wishlist and wait for sales or coupon codes (they have it very often). It also helps to send referral codes between me and my son account, for games that we want to buy to play together online and get discounts. They also have a lot of free games included with the monthly subscription which we have. I got a silicone set to cover the head part because when you sweat it gets wet and in time gross and the silicone one I can just wipe it clean.
Overall, it’s a good investment and a lot of fun and can be a good health benefit if you exercise using it.

detailedReviews 28: content: I was initially hesitant to purchase the Quest 3 since I already own Quest 2. However, I was never really satisfied with the graphics and the performance so I gave in and got myself the shiny new Quest 3 and its changing dock. The main reason for the switch-up was due to Quest 2 overall weight and its inability to stay cooler in a long gaming session. Since purchasing the Q3 I can say that it's a lot lighter compared to the Q2 and it manages to keep the the heat lower.
At this moment the main negative I can think of the Quest 3 is that there is somewhat of a higher light bleed in from under the nose area compared to Q2. I think that can easily be rectified with 3rd party glasses/face adapters from Amazon.
Now the positives;
It has a better immersive colour front camera, which is great for augmented reality. I have tried it with my computer to add another screen on the side. Which is a very functional and fun feature.
The graphics are a lot better and more responsive. (This can be evident in Beatsaber and Superhot(both must-have games))
The controllers are a lot lighter and have wireless charging (wireless charging requires a dedicated battery which comes with the charging dock) however you can still use a good 'ol AA battery.
If you are looking to get a new VR headset at a good price you will not be able to beat the Quest 3 unless you buy a preowned higher-end one.

detailedReviews 29: content: The Meta Quest 3 is a must have over the other models. The crispness of the display alone is a must. I was surprised how clear everything looks. It does a fairly good job of displaying your environment for AR purposes. It's easy to set and detect your boundaries so you don't accidentally bump something while your fully immersed in VR. It has an extender to accommodate glasses which worked really well. I would of rather had some lenses like drone goggles have so that I don't need glasses but this was a good compromise. I didn't have any issues with fogging. It's a little heavy on the head but manageable. It sounds great with the speakers right next to your ears and adds to the immersion. A few cheap things, I thought, were the straps on the controllers, not sure they could of gotten a smaller cord, and the headband. It was comfortable enough for just being webbing but I would of liked a better way to adjust the tightness. Maybe I'm just spoiled by drone goggles but there's better ways of adjusting tightness than just sliding some webbing around. It does get the job done though.
I played the included Batman game and it was a lot of fun. I could only stand about 30min at a time due to motion sickness but I think that's just my problem. It worked well as a VR game and you could easily play it sitting or standing up. Definitely be careful of your surroundings when punching though. The goggles will tell you when you're getting close to something but they can't stop you from over extending a punch. You also are getting attacked from all around so you will find yourself flailing during combat. Everything felt very natural playing it. The other game I tried out was a free roller coaster game to get something more immersive and less action. It was cool being able to look completely around you and experience the ride. Personally I also enjoyed being able to watch movies on Amazon Video. With the clear display and it being big and right in front of you it was pretty nice. It also had a curved mode to make it a little more cinematic. If you have a small TV or want to be able to watch something different than the household, I think this is really good. I didn't see anywhere to redeem 3 months of Quest+ though. You can use your hands and gestures or use the controllers for certain activities. The controllers are very ergonomic but could use a bit more texture to them. The battery life is ok on the goggles, I had to charge after maybe 3 hours of intermittent use.
I would recommend these for some next level gaming. Be mindful of your motion sickness. I don't get motion sick very often with car rides or taking cruises but this VR affected me. I've heard the more you do it the better your stomach will get but I haven't used these long enough to validate that truth. Just a warning if you already know that you have motion sickness problems. Also I think you really need to get a case or a charging stand for something this expensive to keep it nice and together.

detailedReviews 30: content: I have long been a 3d and such tech aficionado and had the nvidia 3d vision way back in 1999 and then nvidia 3d vision in 2007 ish and bought PS VR in 2016 ish. nvidia 3d vision on a 3d projector was just insane. Playing older Steam games like Rainbow Six in 3d just made the gaming incredible on a 120" wall projected screen.
I wanted to get into VR as well early but I got busy and also PS VR gave me a headache from the weight and moving the head around like a maniac will do that. So I avoided it after that even though it was great.
Finally bought the Meta Quest 3 and it is incredible. It is obviously 3d and you get amazing depth perception and you feel like you're there like those old arcade games like Tank where you're standing and your head goes into that bowl and you look and move around standing there and shoot.
However this is 100x better. Google Earth is just incredible and the best. Especially if you want to take a tour or visit your home or other places. Youtube VR is insane. Regular Youtube is also amazing. Obviously you can use it for those cheeky NSFW videos as well.
The mixed reality with passthrough is just incredible you don't bump into things and you integrate the game into your room itself. That is something. We're truly nearing pinnacle of human civilization.
Overall, Meta Quest 3 at $500 is the best buy.
I would rate this a 9.5/10. The battery discharges super quick so I have a cable that allows charging while plugged into my gaming laptop from 2020 (nvidia gtx 2070m which does incredibly well).

detailedReviews 31: content: I have been using the Oculus Quest and HTC Vive for years and had been holding off playing Half Life: Alyx until I got the Valve Index. Well I started playing it on the Quest anyway and realized a few things. External tracking isn't great because of the blind spots and extra cables. Visually, the pixels too visible, the screen likes to fog, and I had eye strain. So I decided to upgrade. I discovered that the Quest 3 has better resolution than the Index, pancake lenses, and lighter in weight. And the additional benefits such as AR, stand-alone VR, PCVR, and some things you can even do without even using the controllers with hand tracking.
Also, the visual quality is great, and I don't get eye strain at all! It will fog but not as quickly or to thebsame extent as the original Quest. I do prefer to PCVR with a cable even though it's not mandatory. There's some room for improvement of course. Hand tracking would be nice if it extended into more apps. PCVR should be able to activate both wireless and wired automatically-currently you have to manually change the settings-if you enable wired it disables wireless and vice versa. There is an issue when using SteamVR where an alert says you don't have enough vram but it always plays just fine. Users online haven't found a solution to this yet.
Overall I think it's a great headset. The tracking is flawless. The price is competitive. And even though I don't really like Meta this was the best choice for me.

I really like the way the magnetic inserts are built with the big notch and the legs to ensure the lens cannot move. I really like the silicon tabs on the outer side of the inserts to easily pull the lenses out without smudging them by accident. The design is well thought out.
It also came with a little personally written thank you note with my name from the founders! It felt so special and unique!
Oh and the case that came with those lens inserts. Wow! That is one impressive protective case! It even has a silicon gadget. Is the case waterproof?
The only down side was an unexpected shipping delay, but I am not going to knock a star for it because Reloptix reached out to me to apologise in advanced and to let me know that there were going to be an unexpected shipping delay. This proactive move, transparency and honesty made a big difference to my personal consumer experience. This is definitely how every businesses should treat their customers.
I will definitely recommend Reloptix to everyone of my friends who have a VR headset. I am very happy to have picked Reloptix from my available options.

detailedReviews 33: content: I've had the Quest 3 for about a month now, and honestly, it's blown me away.
I had no idea how much VR would change the way I experience games and apps. You’re not just playing anymore — you're in it. Everything feels so real and immersive. I’ve found myself playing all kinds of games I’d never usually touch because it’s just such a different experience in VR.
If you’re into relaxing stuff, try VR fishing — it’s weirdly peaceful and scenic. On the flip side, boxing gets your heart rate up like a real workout, and PvP shooters are intense — you actually need good movement and aim, it’s not just button mashing.
There are also these psychedelic visual apps that are totally mind-blowing — like meditation meets a trip through space. Super chill and a great way to wind down.
Honestly, if I knew how good this was going to be, I would’ve bought it the day it came out. It’s one of those things you don’t really get until you try it — but once you do, it’s hard to go back to regular screens.
I even checked out some adult content out of curiosity — and yeah, it’s on another level too.
If you’re on the fence, just get it. It’s not perfect, but it’s easily one of the coolest pieces of tech I’ve ever owned.

detailedReviews 34: content: I am an owner of the original oculus quest 2 during covid and let me tell you. THIS ONE blows the quest 2 out of the water.
In terms of performance alone, all my games have a greater level of detail. Everything is smoother and new fidelity I didn’t know was possible on a standalone system.
The new lenses are a game changer, no more fuzzy text or comparing the view to my terrible vision or dry eyes.
Meta as released a product that will stay current for quite some time. Plus, plug this in to a pc with a link cable with a powerful system and you will take advantage of the new lenses even more
The controllers are a big upgrade from the previous generation. I constantly clashed the large rings in the last controller, no more issues with that as I reload guns in VR.
Lastly, the elephant in the room. Mixed reality, it’s super crisp and a lot of fun! You can go around your house looking like a total idiot but have full visual and fulll functionality after adjusting properly to digital depth perception similar to NVG’s. (Night vision goggles)
I can see this being a great product for both gaming and productivity!
I have referred people and everyone I tell about the system it literally sells itself.

detailedReviews 35: content: The Quest 3 is the best VR device I have used hands down. I say this with a lot of experience with other VR headsets, and this simply takes the cake. Thats not the say its perfect, but its a lot better than other setups. A quick breakdown of my take aways with this.
Pros
Great display
Simple yet good enough hand tracking
Weight
Ease of Use
Cons
Terrible stock strap
Battery life
So the build quality on this is pretty good given what it is. In order for VR to be comfortable and immersive, the headset can't be too heavy, and the Quest 3 is almost the perfect balance. Its a tad heavier than what I would consider perfect, but its not exhausting to wear. On the outside of the headset you have a power button, volume knob and a 'eye spacing' slider to adjust the lenses to your eyes. Inside the eye cover is two more buttons that will allow you to slide the cover in or out to accomodate people with glasses. This I found out by surprise because its not shown in the introduction. The strap is the only problem with the build quality. Its terribly uncomfortable and not easy to adjust. The way that it holds on is actually really uncomfortable, pulling on my hair. I highly recommend upgrading the strap.
The controllers are simplistic yet functional. They each have a joystick, 2 game buttons, a functional button (Meta and Menu), a trigger for your index finger and a trigger for your thumb. They use AA batteries which are easy to change (I recommend rechargables as you will go through lots of them).
The built in speakers are loud enough, but if you're into your sound quality I recommend pairing a different headset and using them instead. I personally don't mind.
The software for the device is a bit of a mixed back, with it feeling a little disorganized and clunky. I think Meta really needs to rethink their UI for both this and the Meta app that you use on your phone. It takes a while to get use to, and finding what you want will take a while until you really get to know the software.
The actual VR experience for this is pretty good. In its standalone mode, you're essentially going to be playing mobile quality games. For most of the fun VR experiences this is plenty. My biggest time sink in VR has been beat saber, and the experience on this is just about as good as PCVR. The hand tracking is actually better than with my base station PCVR setup.
In PCVR mode it can be very good depending on how you use it. It includes a Air Link mode and a wired Link mode. Using this with the desktop Meta Link program you can then launch your PCVR titles onto the headset, as well as use the PCs desktop. This is my favorite way to use this as it opens up your library to a bunch of really good, higher quality games (or at least better visuals). I will warn you though the Air Link mode relies heavily on a good wifi connection, so I recommend using a separate network with just the PC and headset on it.
The headset, at the time of writing, includes Batman Arkham for free with it and a 3 month trial to Quest+. The batman game is ok for a mobile VR game, and its nice to have a trial for Quest+ to get you on your journey. Unfortunately the Quest+ library is pretty lacking, so I don't feel the subscription is worth it once the trial is over, but its good enough to get you introduced to VR.
Overall, this is a great VR device. Its much easier to setup than a dedicated PCVR system, its software while a little buggy is helpful, and the AR mode is essential.

title: The Quest 3 is the best VR device...
detailedReviews 36: content: Context for me: Millennial, 1st time buying VR headset, mass market consumer, previously owned major gaming consoles/PC games but not a "gamer."
Pros:
- Amazing visuals. If you're new to VR or have only experienced past gen level models, the visuals on the Quest 3 will likely leave you awestruck when you initially boot up. This was the distinguishing factor for me when comparing the Q3 to the Q3S even more than the storage, which I really don't need.
- Passthrough mode.
This allows you see through the lenses in the front so you can see your own room while also projecting content from the headset (ex. projecting a big screen playing YouTube videos in front of you while you're doing household chores). Easy to switch on and off. Really extends the use cases of the Q3.
- Unique features
NBA courtside games are fantastic - I think there are about 50 of them this year. Also opportunities to watch standup comedy and concerts designed specifically for VR.
- Great sound
The stock sound on the Q3 is more than good enough. No reason to purchase headphones, probably better in most cases that you don't.
- Great controllers
Love the dual controllers. Intuitive controls and the tracking is very responsive. Makes navigating the menus a lot easier than it could be. You can use your hands instead of the controllers, but I still prefer the controllers at this point.
- Batman game is good
I haven't finished it, but I think the included Batman game is fun/immersive and a good intro to VR gaming.
Cons:
- Value/Comfort
If you're paying $500-700 for a VR headset, you probably don't want to also pay for a bunch of accessories to get the full Q3 experience. But the strap is so bad - unevenly distributes the weight of the headset on your head causing discomfort - and the fit will likely be uncomfortable for most glasses wearers. So be prepared to shell out for the elite strap ($70) or a 3rd party strap at least. This is just nonsense in my opinion and why I couldn't justify 5 stars.
- Battery life
The battery will last you less than 3 hours on one charge. This isn't a con for me personally, as I don't think it's great on the brain to be immersed in VR more than a few hours at a time. But if you're looking to be on this thing for 5+ hours, you'll have to buy yet more accessories.
- Passthrough clarity. A lot of the videos you see online show the passthrough mode view of your room to a lot more clear than it actually is, which is a little grainy. Again, not a major con for me as I don't think making it indistinguishable would be great for the brain, but if you're expecting perfect clarity you'll be disappointed.
TLDR: If you're a mass market consumer interested in VR and can afford the price, you won't go wrong with the Q3, provided you're ok with the possibility you'll have to shell out more $ to really enjoy it.

detailedReviews 37: content: Meta Quest 3 (512GB)
Where to begin? It’s a whole new world in this device…It’s not just a gaming console, it truly is an immersive experience where games are a huge part of it…but it’s so much more.
GAMES: I am coming from a Oculus 3 (128GB) unit and the truth is once I got into it…128GB was just not enough. It could be if you are the kind of person who likes to conquer a game and then delete it and not play it again. You still could but then you would have to delete something else and reinstall the game…that’s a pain. I have found that I like to play a game like Arizona Sunshine (MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME) and come back to it every so often for the sheer joy of headshots on zombies to unwind after a long day! Same with PISTOL WHIP, Golf, First Person Tennis, Real Fishing, Bonelab…the list goes on and on and you NEED SPACE for this… Get the 512GB!
The list of games is growing at a good clip and the speed with which the quality and immersion are growing is faster than I thought they would (I still wish it was faster LOL). On the Meta Quest 2, I felt like the quality of graphics was like the old PS2 console which is quite a step down from my PS5…but think about an old PS2 game and didn’t you ever wish, “ I wish I could just be inside the game in first person 3D.” well you could with the Meta Quest 2….The Quest 3 was a huge jump in resolution and power and a ton lighter than the two…THEN THEY THROW IN MIXED REALITY!!!! Another game changer. Seeing little aliens breaking through your living room walls as you shoot them and then a rocket launches through your roof….messes with you mind!!!! Or be mesmerized with the little Lego people walking around in front of you in Lego bricktales! Or work out with Supernatural or Thrill of the fight!
So the META 3 was like being inside the PSS 3 games now…not bad. BATMAN Arkham Shadow is the pinnacle to date. Every couple of months META just stops me in my tracks and I just say, “Wow!” This was one of those moments! The Graphics, the Bat boomerang, the cape to glide, the organic and fluid fighting mechanics and that’s just the first hour into the game! Really impressive. Now conversely, HITMAN 3 VR reloaded is a crap… I still played it and when you get to the house level it’s better but the first 3rd of the game which is the “training” was really lame. BUT being immersed as a hitman in VR…is cool even if the game is lame! I could go on and on about the games…and they are getting better at warp speed. I guess my biggest realization as to how much I love the Quest 3 is how I don’t play my other consoles hardly at all (or at least till GTA 6)!! Which brings me to just how much more the quest is than just a gaming device...
VENUES – I watched Sabrina Carpenter’s concert and it was incredible, Redrocks concerts, Kid Laroi and so many more! Soap Stone comedy club, nature videos and tv shows, Netflix, YouTube tv and music….ENDLESS immersive entertainment!!!! Adult media as well if you know what I mean…incredible!
It’s a true escape in every sense. You want to sit on a beach go for it… See the top of the Himalayas in 3d…No problem! Download the “Fly” and fly to your childhood home and see street views of it now. That brings me to another amazing thing…I have my 360 degree vacation videos on there as well…Fire up the Meta Quest and I am back on the Mexican Riveria with my wife reliving my vacation!!!! Then there is the spatial videos from my iPhone I can access them on the Meta Quest 3!!!! ALSO hyper realistic spaces are coming online, like Meta’s meeting room and artist workshop…AMAZINGLY Clear….world museums like the Louvre or just walk around the set of the OFFICE and pretend you’re Michal Scott!
The only real bad thing that drives me crazy is all the darn KIDS!!! Running around and screaming all the time…But what are you gonna do…MUTE THEM and move on.
The fun, the learning, the exploring, the entertainment, the special case uses like home movies and adult fun…YOU CANNOT GO WRONG. Can’t wait to see where this platform is in 5 years!!! Matrix here we come!
NOTE: BE sure to get the elite strap and soft shell case and lens protector pad.

detailedReviews 38: content: The Meta Quest 3 is quite the impressive piece of virtual reality hardware. The materials and build quality are top notch and the head set is comfortable. Normally things like this feel heavy and create pressure points for me, but the Quest 3 is great comfort wise. Everything is easily adjustable and the straps even accommodate a ponytail.
As an owner of the Quest 2, I can definitely say the image is very sharp and crisp comparatively. Sound is great too. With the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 you get excellent graphics and clarity that certainly sets it apart from its predecessor. Additionally, the pass through visuals and graphics are amazing. I've got to say that it is such a trip how far technology has come over the years. Turning your whole house into an entire gaming world is just crazy. The augmented reality is amazing.
The controls feel nice and responsive and the hands track very well. Really can't wait to try out everything the Meta Quest 3 has to offer... especially with the Meta Quest+ subscription.. An added bonus is you can also play Xbox game pass games with the Meta Quest 3!
Overall, the Meta Quest 3 is an absolute blast and If you are in the market for a VR headset THIS is the one you want!

title: The Meta Quest 3 is quite the impressive...
detailedReviews 39: content: To start, I am by no means a veteran of VR. Getting this headset opened up a whole new world for me and it has been so much fun! Games are immersive and movements are smooth, which was a little surprising given the small form factor of the headset. Batman Arkham Shadow has been exhilarating to play. I'm a big fan of superhero games and this combo takes it to the next level. The combat keeps you on your toes and the storyline keeps you hooked. It feels cool to be digitally transported into a different universe and physically in control of your character. I'd also like to add playing Among Us with this headset has been EXCEPTIONALLY fun. It's a completely different game and it's SO immersive. The best part is that I'm just getting started! There are so many more games to play. I'm looking forward to further utilizing the 3-month free trial of Meta Quest+!
Comfortwise, I'd say it's pretty good. The cushion isn't bad and I like that it has a fabric cover instead of a rubber or silicone one. That said, if you wear glasses like me, I'd recommend getting some lenses because wearing your glasses under the headset is not comfortable in my opinion. The battery life is only an issue if you're not near an outlet and like to game for long periods. I average about an hour but I didn't find any issues using the headset while plugged in.
Overall, I'd say for everything you get under the hood, there is no competition. You will not be disappointed with the Meta Quest 3. There are so many new experiences to be had and there has never been a better time to join the fun. 10/10 recommend!!! Now, don't mind me, I'm heading back to the metaverse. Maybe I'll see you there!

detailedReviews 40: content: For the longest time I've shied away from Oculus/Meta products as I've never been interested in their previously lower quality experience. But with my Vive Cosmos Elite finally hitting the end of its life, this was my only real upgrade available. And man, do I wish I had picked it up sooner.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- Visual Clarity is amazing
- Controllers feel great to use in a range of games. Both the buttons and the sensors that can tell if your thumb is resting against it or if you are pointing forwards rather than resting against the trigger.
- Sound Quality is better than you might expect
- Getting it to sit comfortably while finding the 'sweet spot' wasn't a hassle at all.
- As a PCVR user, Being able to link it to my PC via the local home Wifi is amazing. Makes me wish I hadn't bothered buying the Link Cable alongside it in the first place.
Cons:
- You're forced to download a meta App to your phone and have Meta's Storefront more or less pushed onto you. Making a Meta Horizons Avatar is mandatory even if you have no interest in using it.
- 2 Hour battery life by default is awful. Personally I fixed this with a Power Bank in my pocket and a cable up behind me.
- The Light bleed thanks to the gap between your nose and the inside of the headset isn't great.
I'd also add you need to be in a Lit environment to use the Boundary setup which can be seen as a downside meaning you can't avoid Light bleed. But at the same time, the boundary tech they use makes packing the headset up and using it later a breeze. It might not be the PERFECT VR headset. But it's close. And well worth grabbing whether a Casual user, or someone who has a beefy Desktop to get the most out of VR.

detailedReviews 41: content: The Meta Quest 3 is much different than the first round of VR headsets. For example my first VR headset needed to be plugged in to a capable gaming computer in order to function. The stand alone headsets were not any good. The Quest 3 is a very different story, especially when it comes to playing games on it as a stand alone device.
The Quest 3 has a very nice display with a field of view of 110 degree, which delivers a phenomenally immersive experience. I have gamed extensively on an ultrawide curved gaming monitor and this is by far more immersive.
The design of the Meta 3 is solid and comfortable with fairly even weight distribution. One item that I was not used to is the use of mixed reality where you can interact with the real world while in VR. This is a game changer for me since one of the common issues I found was running into things or hitting things as I was playing games.
I really nice feature is the fact that you don’t need to use the controllers to utilize the Quest 3. There are a specific set of hand gestures to at let you manipulate the Quest 3 controls which is amazing. The one thing is I wish the Meta Quest 3 had better battery life or at least a replaceable/swappable battery.

detailedReviews 42: content: This Meta Quest 3 is my first VR headset that didn’t require being tethered to a game console. VERY impressed! I can see so many possibilities for this headset. Packaging was well thought out and intuitive. Setup along with my iPhone and the Meta Horizon app was a piece of cake as well. I found some short videos online that were helpful for getting oriented with the controllers and the headset buttons and adjustments to get a good fit.
The included Batman Arkham game is pretty good (both of my young adult-kids like it as well). Downloaded a casino game (took a little learning, but easy then) and a really neat version of Tetris. My favorite so far is Xtadium in which I watched portions of a couple NBA games and a college football game on Fox. VERY cool experience (like you are there) and I can see this growing like mad across various sports the next few years.
From a fit and feel, it’s not too bad at all. I didn’t think the headset was very heavy and after some adjustments to the straps, it feels fine. Very accurate I think with respect to motion and control. I didn’t think I would like this thing as much as I do. Definitely recommend and I think a pretty good value for what you get!

detailedReviews 43: content: I owned the Quest 2 before this and while it was fun, the image clarity just wasn’t great. This year I finally decided to upgrade to the new Meta Quest 3 and man, I’m so glad I did. From the moment I put it on, the visual leap was insane. The sharper graphics, smoother performance, and better depth make everything feel way more immersive.
I’ve been using it daily! for gaming, workouts, and even making new friends in VR social apps. My top favorite games so far are:
• Hellsweeper VR – still the most addictive combat system I’ve played, reminds me of devil may cry but for VR
• SWARM & SWARM 2 – fast, fluid, and pure fun
• UNDERDOGS – underrated gem with an awesome physics system
• Pistol Whip – perfect for workouts and rhythm-action vibes
One thing I highly recommend: I swapped the included head strap for the BoBoVR S3 strap, and it completely changed the comfort level. Way more balanced, easier on the head, and lets me play for hours with no pressure pain.
If you’re on the fence, trust me!!! this is the upgrade worth making. The Quest 3 isn’t just a better headset, it’s a whole new VR experience.

detailedReviews 44: content: I have tried friends' PC based VR before and enjoyed it, but noticed the screen door effect and found the tethering annoying. Also it costs a lot for a PC good enough as well as the headset. I had delayed from getting a quest because of my intense hatred for Facebook, but finally caved and it's totally worth it, they can take all my data and blackmail me one day I don't care.
The resolution is brilliant, I tried playing a 4k copy of Dune on a huge VR screen and couldn't see the pixels. (I wouldn't want to wear VR for 2 hours in one go though!) The field of view is good enough that it just feels like wearing ski goggles. The pass through mode with hand tracking and no tethering is revolutionary - with dim lights the res is worse so it is hard to read text on books or phone but it is just about good enough to do that when you want and in bright surroundings it looks almost real, just a tiny delay and a bit of fish bowly distortion around the edges when you move your head quick, no screen door effect. I can easily walk round into the kitchen and have a glass of water without taking the headset off and get told off by my wife. I definitely recommend starting with all pass through based games as it is less disorientating - shooting aliens with your bubble gun in first encounters, zombies in drop dead:the cabin and getting very quickly exhausted boxing in thrill of the fight are doubly exciting in your own living room (and less likely to punch anything/one!) When you are ready to be immersed in a stunning world do the ISS quest and get red matter 2.
VR is not everything it claims to be. It won't replace your TV, laptop or console for a good few years yet. It still gets uncomfortable wearing the headset for an hour, it's not as responsive as a keyboard and mouse or touch screen. If you treat it as a new medium to enjoy immersive experiences you will enjoy it most. I actually didn't find the battery life a problem as I don't play for more than an hour anyway. The games are often a bit gimmicky and low budget seeming and meta have hugely increased the prices in the last few years, but you can get discount codes. They are starting to get some high quality looking quest 3 exclusive games. The added luxury of this is when I finally do have enough money to buy a good enough PC to run half life alyx and star wars squadrons in VR, this headset is definitely good enough to make the most of their better graphics.

detailedReviews 45: content: VR/MR Tech hits a high note with this system! As an owner of an HTC VIVE system that I have as yet to unpack after a recent move, it has been outclassed and outpaced.
VR tracking without a pair of external devices - check
Mixed reality in full color - check
Wide variety of available software and games - check
Ability to link with your computer and use it for additional VR experiences - check
Plethora of peripheral products to enhance your experience - check
The sheer freedom of movement while online is incredible. No wires necessary. Setup for VR boundaries, ensuring you won't crash into furniture, etc. while playing is a snap, and so easy.. all you have to do is look around while in setup mode, the headset does all the mapping. Just stay in well-lit areas.
Unfortunately, there is a downside to that freedom, the battery that comes with the headset will fade quickly. Two hours of play and you are out for two to three hours. There are a few ways around that. One I recommend highly, the others not so much.
1. Purchase a replacement for the head strap the system comes with, many replacements are available on the market. Some come with additional battery power!
2. Purchase a lengthy USB-C charging/data cable (both, I found one that is 15 feet long).
2a. Use that cable to Link to a PC (Meta does this easily with this system). It will slow down the battery usage, possibly stop it if you have the right computer connection.
2b. Use that cable to plug directly into a wall socket with an appropriate adapter. Headset will not lose charge.
I'd go with option 1, with batteries, and if you can get additional fast-charging batteries, you will not need more than 4 total for a VERY long time in VR. But, all things in moderation. Option 2a, is good for those like me that used PC VR in the past, and have a variety of games to play on Steam. I have my Pinball game back!
Option 2b, while a little cheaper than 1, your physical movements are limited by that cord, and there will be times that it frustrates you because it will get in the way.
The one thing I do not like:
There is supposed to be a Wireless PC Link available. For me, and others, it is unreliable with my network and setup. There are other programs you can purchase that can make it possible to work on your desktop wirelessly, but getting VR to work with them has proven unreliable.

detailedReviews 46: content: The Meta Quest 3 is amazing beyond all doubt. I tried the original Meta Quest when it first came out, but I have never owned another VR headset. After unboxing the headset, and charging it, the i then began the setup process.
The setup process is very time-consuming, however, one of the great things about the setup process is the tutorial for people who have no clue how this thing works. It was extensive and I am very pleased with it. The reason why the process to set it up takes so long is because you have to set it up on your phone, then set up all of the stuff on the headset, then set up credit card info to purchase games, and of course, download the games.
There are so many different games to choose from and for the most part, they are very low cost to free. The headset is easy to adjust and one of the great features when is you can cast the headset onto your phone. It is great for me when my child is playing Roblox because I can hear the conversation.
The only complaint about the headset is probably the battery life. It lasts just over an hour, but if you use the battery saver it should last quite a bit longer.
Otherwise, this is great for parents and kids alike.

title: The Meta Quest 3 is amazing beyond all...
detailedReviews 47: content: This is my second experience with VR. My first was the Samsung one that I got with my S8+ phone many years ago. It wasn't anything close to the Meta Quest 3. You snapped your phone into the headset to have VR. This being a complete standalone VR headset is miles ahead.
First, after the initial setup, I set my home as the spaceship. Then I played the game from there. It had me map the room that I was in, which was simply walking around and looking around the room so that it could see the obstacles. I was in my living room, so the couch, coffee table, Christmas tree, end tables and TV were all mapped out. Then the game began. A little space ship broke through the ceiling. Pieces of the ceiling that were broken then landed on the floor, and some landed and stayed on the ceiling fan. Little fuzzy balls started cracking the walls and coming into the living room. You then shoot them to collect them. By the time I was finished, most of my walls were gone, revealing a completely different world behind it.
It comes with Batman: Arkham Shadow (not my normal type of game) so I decided to try it. I've got to say, it's amazing. Although I typically play FPS (Battlefield) and racing games, I was drawn into the world. Actually being in it changes everything. Being able to turn your head to look around versus pushing a joystick was great. It's a lot more realistic to how things work in the real world. To climb a ladder, you reach up and grab a rung and pull up, then put your next hand on the next rung and climb. I will say that some motions can be tricky. For example, I play sitting down. Your Batarang is on your belt, so you're supposed to reach down to your waist to grab it. While sitting down, reaching down to your waist doesn't move your arm far enough for the game to know that your hands are at waist level. I spent 5 minutes just trying to grab it before finally giving up. If I stood up, it was no problem to grab it. That takes you out of the experience quickly.
The Meta Horizon Worlds are interesting. You can play mini games, watch concerts, and explore a lot of other things to do. I went to VR experiences and watched people climbing Everest. It was like you were right there with them. Looking around from the top of the world was amazing.
A couple of downsides for me were the experience with the Batman game not knowing that I was reaching for my belt, and occasionally the screen is off-center. The only thing I can come up with is if you are not looking straight ahead when that screen comes up, it will be off-center. You then have to go into the Quest menu and reset the center point.
There are features to help avoid motion sickness, which can easily occur with VR. I did notice on a longer play session that I did get a little nauseated, so I just stopped for the night. That feeling did last for about 30 minutes afterwards. There is so much to see and do. From playing games, to watching TV and movies, I've only begun to scratch the surface, but my time with it so far has been amazing!

detailedReviews 48: content: I’ll start off by saying that I had a Quest 2 and it was a good VR set. But this…this is a whole new level. The new passthrough capability, the hand tracking, the new lenses, the speed and smoothness, everything. The new Quest 3 is quite the powerhouse for the money. I recently used a friend’s Apple Vision Pro which was a futuristic experience, to say the least, and it completely spoiled me. But after purchasing my Quest 3, I feel that this has so much capability for the money that it is almost unbelievable. The new lenses coupled with the smaller form factor and new full color passthrough capabilities make this one of the most impressive experiences for less than $1000 you can get. I highly recommend this whether it’s for productivity, play, or just general entertainment. Watching movies is a great time, taking virtual tours is unbelievable, placing tiles around your real environment and interacting with apps without having to use a controller is such a neat experience. The future is here and its getting cooler every day.

detailedReviews 49: content: I’ve had the Meta Quest 3 for a little while now, and honestly, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought. The graphics are super sharp, it’s lightweight, and everything runs really smoothly. One of the first games I tried was the new Batman game, and it completely blew me away. Being able to explore Gotham as Batman, throwing batarangs and gliding through the city, actually made me feel like a superhero.
What really surprised me though is how versatile this thing is. I hooked up Xbox Cloud Gaming and started playing console games right from the headset with a controller—no console, no TV, just straight-up gaming in VR. It felt unreal playing Halo in a virtual space like that.
And when I’m not gaming, I’ve been using it to watch movies. It’s like having your own private theater. You can sit in a cozy virtual room and just lose yourself in whatever you’re watching.
If you’re on the fence, just go for it. The Meta Quest 3 isn’t just for gaming—it’s for escaping, relaxing, and doing things in a way that feels way more fun than normal screens.

detailedReviews 50: content: I bought this because I'd heard good things about them, but I'm nothing but disappointed. Not even sure where to start.
- Comfort: There is none. You get useless strap that doesn't even keep the VR set in place. The solution? Meta wants you to spend another $179 for their "elite" strap! No thanks!
- Battery: This was another huge disappointment. The unit takes two hours to fully charge and drains in less than an hour playing games! It may be different for streaming or other things, but this is a dealbreaker for me. Even when you plug it in with the given charging cable, it drains faster than it charges! I mean seriously, this is what $700 gets you?
- Weight: I purchased this primarily to play online golf with friends. I literally can't even make it 30 minutes before the weight of the VR set is painfully hurting my eyes/forehead and straining my neck from looking down so much.
- Nausea/Dizziness: Again, it doesn't take more than about 30mins before I'm feeling sick and nauseated with this device. I need to lay down for half an hour for my eyes and head to recover after each use.
Not worth the heavy cost in my opinion. I ordered a different head strap to see if that helps, but if not, I will be returning it.

detailedReviews 51: content: Bought this specifically to play MSFS 2024 because they advertised it will work with Windows 11 which withdrew support for most other VR.
They are novel, the image is great and the mixed reality is really cool, but it ONLY works as a stand alone device with any quality. I managed to get it to work with my high end gaming machine with windows 11, but the higher graphics were black and it was VERY choppy, and froze the software. This was with the goggles wired via USB C port. Tried it on my tried and true other gaming machine a Windows 10 and it would not connect. The goggles said they were connected and it would cast to the computer, but that was all it would do. I could not see any part of the computer from the goggles. For what they do, they are overpriced. It is nothing more than a novelty.
My computers both have Nvidia 2080 graphics cards, the windows 10 maching has 32g ram, AMD Ryzen 7 7700 processor. Windows 11 machine has 64g ram, AMD Ryzen 9800 3dx. I will be returning it to Best Buy, does not work as advertised. I dont recommend it if you intend to use it with your PC or Iphone.

detailedReviews 52: content: Easy set up and loads of fun free games made this the perfect gaming system especially to connect with my grandsons. It has zero lag yet I’m not tethered to a computer, altrhough I have found my left controller disconnects often and now I’m having issues with my in-game microphone. Customer support is pretty good but we’ll see how they handle this situation. The comfort of their headset takes time because it’s a new sensation. The straps are adjustable so once you find the right fit you can wear it for hours with little to no discomfort. It will get sweaty so sharing it is not ideal unless you use something to protect your face. The battery is pretty good, it lasts about 3-4 hours (depending on the game) and it charges back up quickly. I found standing on a small rug in the middle of my boundary prevents mishaps as I found myself physically moving. I also figured out that easing in with 10-15 min per use and building up extended my ability to play longer without feeling nauseous afterwards.

detailedReviews 53: content: I bought a quest 3 after owning the original quest and actually not liking it due to the weight and narrow visuals and promptly returning it for a nintendo switch. I also thoughroughly enjoyed the quest 2 as the step up in visuals/headstrap options made it alot more accessible and easier to use. The quest 3 improves even further with the comfort factor due to its newer style flat (pancake) lens. The original and 2 had a smaller field of view meaning to get the best visuals you had to have the setup exactly right for each person who uses it according to their ipd (space between your eyes). This meant adjusting it alot more to get the sweet spot esp between people or in the middle of a particular vigorous game of robot recall etc. The 3's sweet spot is alot bigger and means that swapping between people or exuberant sessions on Pistol Whip/Beatsaber don't effect you as much and keeps things clear..this also means less tension needed to keep it stable and more comfort all round.
The battery life isn't the best with around 2 hours use but after that you'll want a break anyway and there is a plethora of options to extend it via power banks or the longer charge cables if your having a Netflix or youtube binge in your own private cinema experience. The newer style handcontrols are notably missing the tracking rings from the previous shapes. I personally find this a double edge sword as although I'm no longer cracking them together during play I miss the added weight for feel during gameplay. I haven't found the tracking to be suffering either so far during things like beatsaber when you crank the difficulty so the lack of rings has had not detriment and I'm sure the control additions for the originals fit the newer style for added grip and weight so will have to try some of them out and see but like most things it comes down to personal preference. If you've made it this far I can honestly say I love my quest 3 and high price aside I'm happy with the purchase. It improves over the previous generations and makes vr so much more accessible and appealing to nongamers so deff consider it.

title: I bought a quest 3 after owning the...
detailedReviews 54: content: I have owned the original Quest, the Quest 2, and now the Quest 3. Graphics on the Quest 3 are a major improvement over the Quest 2 as well as the sound. You do not need additional headphones for the Quest 3 like you did on the Quest 2. Graphics are excellent and the FOV is much improved. Gone is the sweet spot that you had to achieve in the Quest 2. In the Quest 3 every view is the sweet spot and text is much more clear and Quest 3 enhanced games look fantastic and run much smoother. The new pancake lenses with the improved resolution really makes the Quest 3 shine in the graphics fidelity department when compared to the Quest 2.
The mixed reality is excellent and is really a lot of fun. I had a bunch of family and friends over for Thanksgiving and they could not get enough of Drop Dead: The Cabin Home Invasion. Games like Red Matter 2 now blur the line between PC VR and standalone Quest games. I would say Red Matter 2 looks just as good as Lone Echo 2 which is a PC VR game. Not quite as good as Half Life Alyx however but still pretty darn great.
The room setup is much easier as it now automatically scans the room and the headset feels much more comfortable although you will need to upgrade the head strap as the stock head strap is junk. I highly recommend the Bobovr M3 with the additional battery packs which leads me to the reason I took off a star: Battery life and out of the box comfort.
Battery life is abysmal especially in mixed reality mode. Expect 90 minutes or less which is a real bummer if you have friends over wanting to take turns playing a mixed reality game like Drop Dead: The Cabin Home Invasion.
The Quest 3 would be a 5 star product even at the $500+ price point if Meta would do two things out the box: Increased battery life and a more comfortable head strap. Because of these two problems expect to spend another $100 to fix these issues. There are many third party solutions and the one I recommend is the Bobovr M3 which is ultra comfortable and has swappable battery packs. I also recommend getting a more comfortable silicone facial interface that you can clean.
If you can swing the additional cost for the third party head strap and silicon facial interface then I highly recommend the Quest 3 even if you currently have a Quest 2. Also I would go for the 512 GB version if you can swing the additional cost. I imagine games for the Quest 3 will get larger in the future due to larger textures and just because of the better capabilities of the Quest 3.

detailedReviews 55: content: The addition of passthrough considerably reduces the isolation of VR, while the changes in design- bringing the weight closer in - makes the headset much easier to wear - especially when paired with a battery strap to counter-balance the headset weight.
The strongest asset is the flexibility and freedom allowed to the device and the competitive price.
A consumer can see both the good and not so good experiences which I believe is healthy and critical for growing VR as a platform, just as much as an ultra high-end device is.
The improvement of removing the ring on the controller is great and the sound isolation is better. The pancake lenses reduce friction of using the device due to not requiring a small “sweet spot” and careful placement on the head to use like headsets of the past.
One thing to note though is that for VR, regardless of the headset manufacturer, you are still looking at a screen so you can’t wear it for a long time without tiring your eyes.
So while this implementation of passthrough really is game-changing and is showing us a glimpse at the potential for MR, it is not realistic to think you can keep the headset on for several hours at a time.
That being said, the Meta Quest 3 clearly proves that Meta is the pioneer of VR and is serious about VR and MR.
There are a couple reasons why I cannot give a perfect score, however.
While VR looks best with the Meta Quest 3 and is more accessible than other options, I’d argue that VR feels more immersive on Sony’s offering due to their controller design and haptic feedback in the controllers and headset.
Also, the included headstrap is not realistically sufficient. So the real cost should be understood to be the headset plus the elite strap with battery. I understand why it was sold separately however.
Also, my Quest 3 has a single bright spot in the center of the display on the unit I received. I have since contacted support and they offered to replace it. The support has been great and prompt. If the replacement has no display issues then this will improve my rating.
Despite these issues, considering all aspects, the Meta Quest 3 is the best mass-market consumer VR headset.

detailedReviews 56: content: Video passthrough is pretty cool. That's about all I got to experience with the Quest 3.
Tried to connect it to wifi, it connects, it says my network is "limited" and provides no further details on what that means. I have a gigabit connection, an Opnsense router that has more computing power than this headset, and a Wifi 6 Ubiquiti AP. My home network is the least limited thing I own. I do have Unbound DNS with blocklists, maybe it's a DNS thing, but the headset doesn't let me choose a different DNS server, so I'll never know.
Whatever, it's still connected despite its complaining, I continue, it tries to update, and that's as far as I ever got. It sits doing nothing for several minutes, then it reboots and we're back to square one. Connect to wifi, blah blah limited blah blah, update, reboot, repeat.
So I download the stupid Meta app on my phone to see if pairing it will work. I had to reboot the headset a couple more times for it to finally give me a code, I enter it, fails to connect. I reboot the headset, restart the stupid app, enter the code, fails to connect.
Took it back to Best Buy and got a refund.
Buy anything else.

detailedReviews 57: content: There is a twist.
The Quest 3 will likely bring you joy when you first open it. It looks great! It plays OK too for a stand alone headset. Expect most games to look like a kid designed it in Roblox, and if not that, they look like they were made by the same development template. There are some high quality games, but you can count them on both hands.
First tip - everything is always being marked up and then back down to create a sense of a good deal. Most games run 5 - 40 dollars. Sales are run in a pattern so always hold out and dont buy them full price.
Second tip - If you have a 3060 or equivelent and canrun OK games, get a Pico headset or some other designed for PCVR. The games are much better.
Third tip - The controllers. At 11 months I started to get slight stick drift. At 14 months my Quest is pretty much unusable because the stick drift is interupting all other actions. For example, you click something and it doesnt do anything. You have to manually perfectly align the thumbstick back and click. It is a horrible experience. The nightmare is that you HAVE to have the remotes. Although it fully supports hand tracking, you can login without the remotes. The remotes can only be purchased through Meta and costs $75 a controller.

detailedReviews 58: content: I've been on the quest train since I got my quest 2 a good 3-4 years ago (iirc I got it soon after release). So with hundreds of hours under my vr belt I can honestly say that the quest 3 is a worthwhile upgrade over the 2. At least for me it's significantly more comfortable, the controllers are even better than the already fantastic quest 2 controllers and the res bump is noticeable but not earth shattering.
On the downside; the battery life is noticeably worse than the 2 when using passthrough but roughly similar when in full immersion (unsurprising given the faster processor and extra sensors used for passthrough), the color passthrough is definitely usable but nowhere near as clear as represented in review videos (yes I've tried all the "fixes" suggested online, it looks like a calibration issue from what others are suggesting as factory resetting a few times tends to fix it but I'm not willing to reset and have to download hundreds of gigabytes of data again for slightly better passthrough), and finally the biggest thing for me is the axing of the 256gb model and significant price bump for both 128 and 512 models. 128 is just not enough for a standalone vr headset when soon there will be AAA games that'll easily consume half that just to install one game. This forces anyone but the most wet behind the ears vr enthusiast to pony up yet another ~$200 (by the time taxes are added) just to get more memory.
Finally my last complaint is that the quest 3 is obviously pushing ar but there really aren't many compelling ar games yet beyond basic tech demos. If meta is serious about expanding ar then they'll need to put some work into apps that take advantage of it. For example they launched not long ago an app to use the quest 3 as a virtual computer monitor but it's super buggy and not all that usable in the current state (just a display, no mouse or keyboard integration yet and worse is it annoying changes the resolution way down of my computer, despite me having a 4k display!). What's the point of having massive virtual monitors in ar if you have to awkwardly use physical peripherals to control and are limited to much less than 1080p resolution?
Anyway that's about the jist of it, I'm excited to see the quest 3 grow into the new technical upgrades it's been given but as of right now it's just a better version of the quest 2 imo, not quite a completely next gen vr headset.

detailedReviews 59: content: upgraded from a quest 2, great product, love the color passthrough and much clearer screens. Is it night and day not really- you can tell its better but not leaps and bounds, it does run cooler, it feels lighter on my head and the controllers are not clunky large things like the quest 2 had. so far so good, would recommend the quest 3s to anyone wanting to get into the VR movement, maybe tell them quest 3 only if they have the money to blow.
the only downside i have is the strap- it is a terrible mess for the price of this thing i expected better. 1st thing is buy a new strap- i got the battery swappable bobavr so it never dies. this strap on a 3s ok but not the full price of this thing.
I also think $500 is a lot for this, at $400 i'd say its a great buy, $500 it's worth it if it had a better strap.
Overall I love my headset. Great buy- wish it wasn't $500 plus a strap. I play a few Mixed Reality games (the inclusion of batman was the big seller on this purchase) and PCVR games wirelessly- mostly shooters and racing sims.

detailedReviews 60: content: Amazing technology. And surprisingly very comfortable to wear. I just wish it was a bit easier to adjust the straps to a perfect fit - it seems they limited the adjustability just so you would be forced to buy the 'elite' straps instead. But otherwise, great device. I love that you can use it with PC VR games too - it's been surprisingly smooth with that. I can't even tell that it's just streaming the game from my PC, no lag whatsoever. The only game that had issues was VRChat and only when I entered a world in VRChat that had lots of people - my PC starts to freeze up in that case, I think because the network strain becomes too much (being that it needs to stream BOTH the game to the Quest, AND handle all the voice chat and player interactions in the game). But I would defintely recommend the Quest 3 to anyone interested in VR. It's really an amazing device. When I used the "use your hands as controllers" feature for the first time I was blown away - it felt like I was in the future.

detailedReviews 61: content: I started exploring VR with those cheapish cardboard viewers and then bought a Samsung VR device that I used for years. I have been looking forward to getting the Meta Quest 3 for a long time and grabbed one at Christmas. While the technology is impressive, I had some issues that made me question my purchase. For one thing, the headset is unbelievably uncomfortable. I mean, it's like an instrument of torture--who designed THIS?! One of the first things you'll want to do is get an after-market device so that you can actually stand to have the headset on for more than five minutes. The second issue I've had is poor customer service. The first game I "purchased" was Premium Bowling. It never worked. I kept getting a "Loading" error message. I repeatedly contacted customer service. They strung me along until they finally sent me to the developer who was even less help. They told me to ask for a refund. By this time, Meta Quest would not refund my payment. While I have had some good times with this product, these two issues have not made me a loyal Meta Quest user. This is still like the Wild West, and just understand that you are pretty much on your own with this product.

detailedReviews 62: content: Whoa.... Yes, the Meta Quest 3 512GB, is incredible and lives up to the hype. I'm not sure why anyone would buy the 3s version, you'd really be cheating yourself not upgrading to the 4K picture, more memory and more storage. As a PSVR owner, I waffled back and forth between the PSVR 2 and the Meta Quest 3, and with the lack of games currently available for the PSVR 2, I decided to go with the Meta Quest 3, and boy am I glad I did. Not only does the the MQ3 have a lot of the same games that are on the PSVR 2, but the amazing app library on the MQ3 is what really sets it apart. If you can afford the $500, get it! You will not be disappointed. You will want to get a charging dock, and maybe a case if you plan on traveling with it, and be prepared for the facial interface to start smelling after only a few days. I have tried washing the fabric, but I think the best option is to purchase some extra interfaces made of a non-fabric material. Personally, I recommend the AMVR Facial Interfaces made of silk cotton. The AMVR brand is also designed for people who wear glasses.

The color passthrough is amazing and it’s really nice to be able to play both vr and mixed reality games. I am able to remotely link up to my desktop and have three virtual monitors up. I can change the size of the monitors to what I need for that moment. I also purchased prescription lenses so I don’t need to wear glasses with the quest 3 and I have to say it’s very awesome to be able to do that. The battery doesn’t last very long but you can always purchase a head strap with an external battery or just plug into the headset. detailedReviews 64: content: So many good things to say about this device, where to even start? I guess a bit of background. For my career, I'm a Sr. Technical Writer working from home. For my hobbies, I love 2D gaming and creative writing. The AVP released and naturally, my interest in virtual computing/monitor solutions was more than piqued.
Not keen on spending $3,500, I started trialing some "XR glasses", namely the Xreal Air 2 Pro and the VITURE One XR. After that proved to be an absolute fail in the productivity realm, I went ahead and picked up the Meta Quest 3.
There was nothing that could prepare me for just how flooring this experience would be. Popping in the headset for the first time is really cool, once you get it adjusted to comfort, which can take a bit of finicking (and some 3rd party accessories, discussed later). The real mind-blowing experience for me though, was downloading the Immersed app (free) from the Meta Store and remote connecting to my work MacBook.
In this app, you're thrown into a beautiful immersive 3D environment, where you have complete remote access to the device you're connected to. From here, you can spawn one to five virtual monitors that can be resized, curved, and placed anywhere in your virtual environment. You open the palm of your hand and reveal an interactive menu, tap on the icon with a finger to engage it. This allows you to quickly switch between a virtual environment and passthrough (cameras capturing the real world around you), change your seat in the virtual environment, hide your virtual screens, mute your mic, and more.
So aside from being the pinnacle of my virtual office setup, it's also a mind-blowing unit for 2D game consumption, or any type of media entertainment really. The Xbox Cloud Gaming app allows you to stream Xbox Game Pass titles on a massive virtual screen. You can also use Immersed or a paid app like Virtual Desktop to remote connect to your PC, which can then be used for playing PC games on, again, a massive virtual screen. Watching LotR in the same manner is like getting to relive it in the theaters again.
If you would've told me that once I get a Meta Quest 3, my physical monitors and TVs would collect dust, I would've never believed it. Experiencing it for the first time and utilizing this invaluable piece of technology for my work and leisure has been an absolute dream. Seriously cannot wait for the future of VR.
Also, if you compare this unit to the other VR headsets out there, you'll find the value to be the best available. $500 for the 128GB or $650 for the 512GB is an absolute steal. You get what you pay for, twice over.
If you plan on using this unit for extended sessions, I would highly recommend getting a 3rd party head strap. The one I use is called the BOBOVR M3 Pro and it allows me to wear my MQ3 while working for several many hours throughout the day. This is because the weight distribution balances all the pressure loosely on your head, with padding, instead of tightly on your face.
TL;DR, if you want a world-changing virtual viewing experience for movies, shows, and 2D games, a superb productivity tool, and a very capable VR/PCVR gaming device, look no further than the Meta Quest 3. Great resolution, great native OS, tons of apps on the Meta Store, option to sideload Android APKs, color passthrough, exceptional controllers, hand tracking, light and compact (it's even lighter than the AVP), tons of 3rd party accessory options, and so much more.
Yes, I'm very passionate about the product, but that's only because I've literally seen and experience everyday how much the MQ3 can do for me. I've owned it 15 days and have 125 hours in Immersed. Racked up a ton of Xbox and Demeo (VR tabletop game) hours too. I love it so much.

detailedReviews 65: content: I loved my Meta Quest 3. There are some really good games and some really bad ones, but I didn't buy it to play games; I bought it to exercise, and it's incredibly good for that.
There are several apps for exercising, but I'm using one called Supernatural. At first, I thought it was just a game, but as the days go by, I feel the exercise in my body. It's really helping me improve my fitness; it's becoming addictive.
The best VR headset I've ever tried, value for money.
I've had both the PlayStation and Apple VR headsets. I don't know why the PlayStation ones make me dizzy and nauseous. The Apple ones are good. I can't say otherwise, but they're not worth the price.
I don't experience any dizziness or discomfort with the Meta Quest 3 headset, even after extended periods of use of two or more hours.
You need to purchase an additional battery; they're much more comfortable to wear and adjust, and the battery lasts twice as long.

detailedReviews 66: content: I'm a gamer and I also work in VR with certain applications for a studio. This is a huge upgrade from the quest to and I immediately noticed the differences. It actually is doing the things that a mixed reality headset should do and it does them very well. From the clarity of the screen to the ease of use, this is an incredible product and very easy to set up and the new features takes it to the next level. Drawbacks, within a few days I ordered the elite upgrade head strap and the replacement rubber piece for the inside that go around your eyes. The way it ships is functional but not comfortable. Adding these two items made the headset several times more comfortable and made it easier to stay in for much long periods of time with absolutely no fatigue or uncomfort. Those accessories are for me a necessity because I work in it and when I do I will be in it or game and I will be in it for a good period of time but even after 15 minutes of the head strap and the eyepiece that it ships with I found myself getting a headache and uncomfortable because of the pressure on my brow. I personally believe that if you get it and you want comfort you need these accessories but they are overpriced and should have been included with the headset itself So what happens is you buy the headset and then you spend roughly $150 more on accessories for something that should have been with the products in the first place. Is the product usable without them absolutely but I have not found anybody who didn't find it uncomfortable within 15 minutes with the way it ships so just be warned of that. Minus that I have absolutely no complaints it is an incredible product and I've been using it several times a week and can highly recommend it. Might be good to check around as third party accessories start coming out that will undoubtedly be cheaper than the meta accessories and might be able to fulfill and close the gap of how much I want to spend and how much I want comfort.

detailedReviews 67: content: I've loved the Quest 3 as far as its library of VR titles goes; there's plenty of variety and the quality of the visuals themselves is outstanding. I bought the Silicone Facial Interface but actually went back to the default one as the cloth feels better to me personally; I plan to switch them out though when I share the headset with company as the silicone cleans more easily.
Beyond this there are a couple of issues I feel are worth mentioning. First, as many other users online have already noted, the Passthrough feature seems to be "mileage varies"; even with what I consider good lighting it tends to be grainy, albeit still good. Reading text off of a TV, PC, or phone may require bringing yourself up close to it. In short, it's functional but nowhere nearly as crystal clear as Meta's demo videos showed.
The next issue is with the headset's design as far as interfacing with either the Elite Strap With Battery or the Link Cable. I say "either" because you're going to have unplug the Elite Strap With Battery anytime you want to use the Link Cable to play PCVR titles, as there's only a single port. I can't believe this is a mere oversight (even though presumably your Quest 3 draws power from the PC when using the Link Cable); it's enough of an annoyance to mention here.
Lastly, for anyone wanting to use their Quest 3 wirelessly with PC to expand their available library to include games such as Half-Life: Alyx, be aware that D-Link's Air Bridge may or may not work for you, even if your PC meets all the criteria. For some folks demoing the Air Bridge on Youtube it seems to work flawlessly and easily, but for me it simply refused to connect despite being detected by both the PC and the headset. I had to return three of them before finally giving up after exhausting every troubleshooting idea I could find. Since then I've tried the Virtual Desktop app (which costs a fraction of the price) and had much greater success.
Overall the Quest 3 is a very good VR headset though, and the advantages of its being wireless and self-contained also can't be overstated. I definitely recommend getting the 512GB model over the 128GB because I've already filled almost 100GB of its storage already with less than a dozen games.

detailedReviews 68: content: The Meta Quest 3 was the first VR/AR headset that I think truly hits the mark for mass market quality. It's high resolution, the battery life is reasonably long, it can be untethered or tethered (for infinite life), the room scale AR/VR works seamlessly, the controllers are top notch and feel great in your hands. The pass-through AR is actually pretty great for what it is -- it requires decent lighting but in general I can navigate the world around me without issue. The headset itself was easy to setup on my face and I went about two weeks with my glasses inside the headset which worked OK but was painful - until I received the lens inserts and now it's very comfortable. It's a fantastic "pickup and VR" device since it can be used without a PC. Audio is good and of course better with headphones or earbuds.
It's the first VR device that I've used for 4-8hrs and not gotten sick or tired. Part of this is the ease in which you can have passthrough to perform real-world actions and also the fact that it's battery powered so you can walk around without cables. The other impressive part was the support for multi-monitor, multi-display remote desktop. I was surprised at the clarity when my 4K monitor was mirrored and extended.
My only slight negative is that some apps were trickier than others to initially setup - particularly if they require you to go to a specific address on another device in order to register (like Netflix). I also had a bit of annoyance initially linking my Occulus account to a Meta account. After that initial setup though, everything has been smooth.
I can't tell you enough how awesome it is to have the MQ3 sitting on the corner of my desk where I can pick it up and just use it without any fuss or setup or calibration and get right into roomscale or seated VR. You really can't beat it for the price, massive library of apps and games, and quality build.

detailedReviews 69: content: I love the Meta Quest 3! It’s a lot of fun to use and I feel like I’m in the future. Apps I highly recommend - Bigscreen/Quest Games Optimizer. Bigscreen allows you to watch movies, live games, and YouTube videos in VR theaters. In order to watch movies/games though, you have to log into your streaming service. Quest Games Optimizer is a 3rd party app that’s around $5-$10 and it increases the resolution of your games but drains your battery quicker.
Meta Quest 3
Pros - Fun to use, Fun with friends, feels futuristic, sleek design, multi purpose.
Cons - The default head strap hurts and gives me headaches, battery life doesn’t last that long, lenses can scratch easily if you don’t take care of it.
It is well worth the money in my opinion for anyone looking for a reliable VR headset. I highly recommend buying a protective case, lens protectors, and a new head strap.

detailedReviews 70: content: For starters, customer service was prompt and outstanding. Jason (the founder) was great in answering some technical
questions I had. Being able to talk shop with a professional licensed optician was reassuring.
The presentation of the lenses is top tier. They come in individual cloth drawstring baggies, which are then placed in a pelican style case that is lined with protective foam cutouts. Rugged and travel friendly.
The anti-reflective coating of these lenses do a very good job of mitigating the inherent internal reflections that all lenses have. This coating appears to come standard and that is a good thing. A very sharp image.
And since I own a lensometer, I was able to confirm that the
prescription I received was made correctly. I ordered two sets of lenses, and the magnetic system allows for quick
swapping between them. Some in my office had never used a VR headset, so this made it easy for everyone to try.
If you can not or do not want to wear contact lenses, then I would definitely get these inserts. The magnetic system and the clarity of the lenses is quality. And they also protect the headsets built in lenses. These are fantastic.

detailedReviews 71: content: Battery life is terrible on meta quest 3. Buyers beware that they will need a powerbank to use the meta quest 3
I really enjoy watching netflix in vr in theater mode using browser app.
Also enjoy nba live games in VR.
Only downside is the battery life is terrible. I could only watch half an nba game in vr or an episode and half of a netflix show. About an hour or so of battery life much less than the 2.5 hrs advertised. I recommend a powerbank for stationary use. I bought a 20k energizer power bank for watching nba vr and netflix. Some recommend the bobovr or elite strap with battery. I don’t use the meta quest for gaming so those may be better for vr games, but for watching netflix or nba in vr where you are stationary the energizer power bank is a no brainer for 20 bucks for so.

detailedReviews 72: content: I bought the Meta Quest 2 in April “24 because it was on sale and I just fell in love with it. So much so that I had to buy the Meta Quest 3 eight months later (Dec “24) and it does not disappoint. After playing games and watching videos on VR, it’s hard to go back to the old consoles on my TV although I still do, I prefer VR above all the rest. Meta Quest 3 does not disappoint and the clarity compared to the 2 is so much more clear. There’s still a slight blur to some things, but you can see a whole lot more detail now. Controls are much more smooth and responsive and it’s a lot nicer not having those big bulky rings on the controllers. Overall, I love it and to me it was worth every penny. *I strongly recommend getting a replacement head strap right away and grips for the controllers. The stock strap is still horrible (front heavy) like on the the two. The pictures I share will have both of those upgrades.

detailedReviews 73: content: The Meta Quest 3 blew me away with its awesome graphics and smooth gameplay. Navigating virtual worlds felt incredibly real, and the graphics added a whole new level of immersion to my gaming experience. The AR function is also pretty cool.
The device isn't perfect, though. In larger rooms, it struggles with accurately mapping the space, in the 14x24 room I play, it will start to glitch and move the location of the floor and walls before I can complete the mapping. It's like it ends up with too much to track and then glitches. It's not a deal breaker, but it's something to be aware of. It's a notable aspect that could use some improvement in future updates.
The seamless performance of the Meta Quest 3 is another feather in its cap. Gaming is incredibly smooth, with minimal lag accurate tracking, and responsive controls. Whether you're navigating through intricate environments or engaging in fast-paced action, the Meta Quest 3 effortlessly keeps up, ensuring a truly enjoyable gaming session.
On a personal note, I get a weird feeling in my head after using it for just a short period of time. It's like a mild headache in the prefrontal cortex. I do not have this problem with the Quest 2 or any other VR headset. I am more sensitive to EMF/RF than most people and I believe this is what's causing it, as the problem reduces when I turn the WIFI off, but does not go away. I also get a similar feeling when working around Cell Antennas. I measured it with my electro smog meter and it puts out up to 30mW/m2 with WIFI and motion tracking turned off. I'm thinking the stronger upgraded blue tooth and closer proximity of the antenna is the issue. It might not affect everyone the same way, but taking breaks during long VR sessions could be a good idea. Hopefully someone comes out with a EMF/RF shielding mask or hood that can be worn while using the Quest 3.
In conclusion, the Meta Quest 3 is undeniably a cutting-edge VR device that delivers on its promise of outstanding graphics and smooth gaming. Despite minor hiccups with room mapping and emf's, the overall experience is one that will captivate both seasoned VR enthusiasts and newcomers alike. As the technology continues to evolve, the Meta Quest 3 stands as a testament to the incredible possibilities that virtual reality has to offer.

detailedReviews 75: content: My Meta Quest 3 has Crystal clear images, no lag gaming, and great games. I wear hearing aids and the speakers are positioned above my ear pointing down so they don't cause feedback squeals in my hearing aids. Being hard of hearing I can't class myself as an audiophile, however, I can say that the dialogue is crystal clear and has enough base that action films sound good to me, and yes, I can tell if the sound is coming from in front, behind, above or below me, as well as the usual left and right. The controllers are precise and comfortable in my large hands, and some apps make use of the built-in colour cameras so you can use your hands as controllers. The headset and controllers look and feel like they are made from good quality materials and are robust, although I have only had this for a few weeks, and the headset strap, while not perfect, is comfortable, and does not let the VR goggles wobble against my face, The battery gives around 2 hours of play, and you can attach the charging cable to extend your playtime while charging (assuming you are sitting down, and not likely to dislodge the cable.)
That said I'm planning to purchase a new head strap with a built in battery, for longer play while standing.
I am very pleased with my purchase and wholeheartedly recommend the Meta quest3 to anyone considering venturing into the amazing world of VR. On a final note, it is worth mentioning that there are some great Meta Quest 3 games out there that don't need a powerful computer to drive them, so If you don't have a gaming PC, this is a cheaper way to get into good VR. Especially as they are currently offering Asguards Wrath 2 for Free when you buy the Meta Quest 3.

detailedReviews 76: content: We have a quest 2 that my boys use and I tested it out when we got it. This is such a massive improvement, I might actually use this myself to play some games. Without the mixed reality, moving around can be a bit disorienting and it is really easy to run into stuff even though you set us a boundary. My son is constantly hitting things with the controllers when he plays on his quest 2 (it could just be he has no spacial awareness). I dont think the quest will eliminate this completely because some games are VR only but when you can use the mixed reality and can actually see the room it is awesome. My wife tried it out because the quest 2 made her feel motion sick and she agreed the mixed reality made a big difference and didnt make her feel dizzy. I tried out the included games that demo the mixed reality and had a fun time playing and testing it out. I also tried Vermilion MR, which was one of the most interesting uses for the device...you can paint without all the mess. It does take a bit to get used to it, and I'm not an artist but it felt pretty realistic the more you used it.
Another intersting thing is the ability to interact with applications without the joysticks. Thay is probably the most innovative part of the headset, but nothing I tried had that option. I'm looking forward to finding more applications that make use of that because while the joysticks are comfortable they are still a little clunky, especially in Vermilion it was a struggle to manipulate parts of the easel. I think as time goes on more developers will be able to use this and fine-tune it to make it a more seamless to interact without the controllers. Overall, it is a really exciting product and a lot of fun to play with. I'm excited to find more games and apps that use the mixed reality.

detailedReviews 77: content: Overall, it's a great headset, the best that I currently own. The new lenses eliminate the need to search around for the "sweet spot" as the whole thing feels like a sweet spot.
The new passthrough is great - it's far from perfect, as there is some weird warping when you look at things close to the headset (like if checking a notification on your phone)... but you *can* check notifications on your phone. Putting it on and starting in passthrough mode is a huge quality of life improvement over my older headsets, as it lets me get the controllers and situation myself in the room without having to stumble around or peak through the tiny nose gap to figure out where I am.
The headstrap is a shame. It's quite uncomfortable and, if you're going to buy this headset, I think a replacement rigid headstrap is a mandatory purchase (not the official one, as it's overpriced and the battery version has some reported charging issues). Fortunately, this can be changed out for a good headstrap, but that adds to the total cost of the experience.
The power draw & therefore battery life isn't as good as I'd've hoped. The headset by itself gets me about an hour of playtime. I have upgraded my headstrap to one that has a 6400 mAh battery, which extends the headset's battery life past my own endurance (after a ~3 hour session, the headstrap battery was almost fully depleted but the headset itself was still fully charged).
Overall, it's a solid headset. It's become my new daily headset and is a significant upgrade over the Quest 2 in every way (except for the battery life). It doesn't seem to me to be a revolutionary change over the Quest 2, but it is a solid evolutionary change and provides a great VR experience.

Meta Quest 3 is truly fantastic for Elite Dangerous with the throttle, pedals, and joystick. This was my primary motivation for the purchase. I do like the fact that you can download directly to the Meta Quest 3 and detach from the PC. Two strong recommendations. 1. get the 512gb. If you cant afford it, save up and then get it. 2. Get as usb 3.2 cable that allows you to play and charge simultaneously for PC usage. A regular usb c to your pc will charge but not fast enough to play and keep up with the draw on battery. You will need to plug your usb c into an outlet. The cables are designed to do this. I have not used the cable while moving, as I sit in a chair for Elite, so I dont know how that works. Otherwise I get about 1.5 hrs on Elite before stopping to recharge. enjoy.

detailedReviews 79: content: There is far too much to say about VR headsets in general and this one specifically to include in a review here. There are some great YouTube videos comparing the Meta Quest 3 to the 2 and other options. But when it comes to stand-alone functionality this is a significant advancement from the 2.
Time will tell how well they take advantage of the resolution and performance bump, but the pancake lenses are a major improvement from the Fresnel lenses in the 2. It's easier to get a clear image and the wider degrees of clarity actually help with motion sickness.
The main down-sides are the battery life (I suggest running with a cabled-battery pack for any of these units anyway) and being forced into the Meta ecosystem.
The internal storage capacity options are annoying. the 128GB version would only be good for PCVR and basic gameplay. It's enough to be functional, but it will limit your overall functionality and increase your dependency on a PC and a good internet connection. Playing local videos using Bigscreen (a simulated movie theater environment) is a great use for these things and having enough space to store high quality videos is important. Right now there's no streaming service offering good VR videos either, so there's more local storage needed. I figure the 128GB version is a subsidized price for them to try to get more market share. A 256GB version might be a better price point, but the 512GB version is worth it for my use case.
Oh yeah, you're going to want to replace the stock strap about 45 minutes after wearing it. But there are a ton of 3rd party options. I don't think the ones with built in batteries are worth it, just get a good comfortable ridged strap and keep a cell phone bank with USB-C fast charging in your pocket. Keeps weight off of your neck and you can keep the wire out of the way, no problem. It's cheaper and easier to use multiple batteries.

detailedReviews 80: content: I wear glasses with progressive lenses. I've also been experimenting with VR headsets such as the Rift, PSVR, and Quest 2. Each of these requires me to wear my glasses under the headset. While it can work, the experience is awkward, fatigue/pain inducing, and overall a less than optimal experience. I decided to go with corrective lenses in my Quest 3 and it has been a 'night and day' change in the experience. Whether doing a VR workout or simply watching VR YouTube videos, I simply pull the headset on and get to enjoy crystal clear vision with no distortions or pain on the bridge of my nose due to wearing glasses. Yes, I'd say that the Realoptix lenses actually make the video output sharper and clearer than when I use the headset with my glasses. The Realoptix lenses are clear to the eye with no smudges and have a certain weight that makes me think that they are optical glass and not plastic. Realoptix lenses use magnets to fit into an adapter. The adapter then physically clips into the eyepieces of the headset. The lenses can then be easily removed for cleaning or allowing someone else to use the device. My only knock is the fit (clipping in) of the adapters to the headset. It took a few minutes to see how things fit together and then the clipping-in felt like a weak connection. The adapters haven't become dislocated yet, so maybe that's all that is needed. But it is hard to see what kind of 'bite' the adapters have with the headset.
All in all, if you're a user of VR and wear glasses, you owe it to yourself to treat yourself to corrective lenses. For the cost of two games they will make everything better when in VR.

The upgraded mixed-reality features let you see your room while still blasting aliens through your wall. It's like your living room became a holodeck. And with 512GB of space? That’s more than enough room for games, apps, and at least 17 rhythm games you’ll swear are "for cardio."

The feature set for the price is unbeatable.
All in one console like system.
Meta has a subscription service and a store to purchase applications. Applications are available with online and offline options.
The Quest can be hooked up to a PC and used as an accessory. Higher quality if the PC is powerful enough. Also has a large selection of applications for VR.
A con is that the device is designed for a single person use. You can buy party games, but every person needs a Quest system. if you have a VR family night, this would be a little expensive.
Another con is that there seems to be a lot of shovel-ware. As it is pushing online multiplayer, the games tend to lack quality. The AAA VR games are few and have a higher price tag (litlle cheaper if using PC)
I do like the VR.
The Quest is great at getting a person off the couch and moving. The games get you exercising without much thought. The exercise programs are plenty.
Though the couch potatoes can still enjoy movies and non motion games. projecting a large screen TV in VR is very nice. Especially if lacking room space or laying down.
Quest 3 can do all 5 types of Vr.
It has non-immersive, semi-immersive, and fully immersive, with augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR).

detailedReviews 83: content: So I’ve owned this device for about 3 weeks now, during the end of week 2 I encountered proximity sensor issues where it would like cut out because it wasn’t detecting my head or face or something. But they seem to have mostly gone away? If you’re using this for pcvr be aware that meta quest app on pc is TERRIBLE, sometimes it requires a complete pc restart to link to the quest via cable and it’s just tedious and annoying sometimes. The headset itself has good graphics quality in my opinion but also a not so good battery life, it lasts around maybe 2ish hours when not plugged in, but when plugged into my pc using pcvr it lasts for about 5 hours. Which is enough for me to enjoy. Standalone quest hasn’t given me any bugs so props there I guess, but this thing is tedious for pcvr through meta link app. 1 more thing the cable it comes with is not a link cable, I recommend finding a usb 3.0 plus cable on amazon recommended 16ft.

detailedReviews 84: content: This is the first VR experience I have had in a while now. First time I tried VR was when you had to use your phone as the display. This is so much better. Setting it up is quite easy and I like that it comes with physical controllers unlike the Apple device. Just my preference.
Inside the box:
The VR headset
Two controller devices with one Double A battery included for each
USB C the C cable and power adapter to charge it
This is the one with 512GB of storage
I'll start with cons because it's not much. It has plenty of apps it seems but missing apps I would like to use like Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu and etc. it does have a YouTube App and I can watch my purchased movies through it so not totally a loss. While other apps i don't know much about and I'll have to see I mostly wanted to try this out for watching movies and just enjoying content. There is games though and you get the Batman game which is nice. Takes a bit to get used to but once you do I had fun with the game. It's definitely different than playing like a PC or console.

detailedReviews 85: content: I'd recommend this to anyone who has been excited about VR, but has been holding off due to either cost or because they thought VR technology wasn't quite there yet.
My friend brought his Quest 3 to our holiday party this year. I've had a PSVR for years. I've always been excited about VR, but the technology was always lacking. I put on the Quest 3 and could immediately tell the difference between it and prior versions. I was so blown away that I purchased one for myself within days.
When it comes to the headset itself, I haven't tried any VR system that is better yet. I get excited about new tech and wore this thing for over 8 hours a day for the first couple days and felt no headache, eye strain, and/or motion sickness, all of which I had felt within 15-30 minutes when playing my old PSVR. You feel fully immersed and often forget about your surroundings until the overlay turns on to remind you not to walk into things.
So far, the games have been different than expected. I think developers are starting to find what is really entertaining to their customers when it comes to VR compared to traditional console games. There are games that are more physical and less physical, and both feel great. Most of the games I have been looking at are $25-ish, with a few upwards of $60.
I buy some games directly from the Meta store for convenience, but have also installed the Oculus apps on my PC so that I can stream games from Steam to my PC. I've found that streaming games from my PC is a bit more of a hassle than I anticipated. In retrospect, I should have purchased the slightly more expensive version that had the bigger hard drive so that I could use the Meta store as my primary store over Steam.
The Meta store has a good selection and the games all run flawlessly without the extra effort of streaming from my PC. That being said, I've heard that streaming from a high end PC will up the resolution of the game and make it even better. I will probably upgrade my PC in the next year, if/when I do, I'll update this review.

detailedReviews 86: content: The Meta Quest 3 Virtual Reality (VR) Headset is the best bit of tech so far that I have ever purchased.
The £479 price may seem like a lot of money, but once you have experienced this VR headset you will realise it's an absolute bargain! Forget games consoles or even visiting the cinema! This VR headset can provide you with an entertainment experience FAR superior to any of those. For example, if you play a game in VR you are not watching it, you are "IN" it!!! This is especially the case for flying games (several on the app store) where you actually sit in the cockpit of a plane, start it's engines, look around, and take off, just like you would in a real plane. But also, being like a real plane you can also experience a bit of motion sickness, but this can be eradicated over time by only playing for a few minutes a day, until you get used to it. Not all games give motion sickness though, many do not.
Then you have the "Mixed Reality" feature on Meta Quest 3, which is another unbelievable experience that NOBODY should ever miss out on in life! Mixed reality combines images from real life (such as your lounge or bedroom) with computer graphics, this is seriously cool! So imagine sitting in your lounge and suddenly a zombie comes crashing through your patio door, or a space ship comes crashing through your lounge ceiling and lands on the floor! Well, this can be experienced on the Meta Quest 3. You will not believe your eyes, it's awesome!
Moving onto the movie and video experience you can have with Meta Quest 3. If you have ever wanted a home Cinema in your house well now you can with Meta Quest 3. There are apps that allow you to sit in a room that looks just like a cinema (seats, fire exit, spotlights, you name it), you can even choose what style of cinema you like, whether it be retro or modern! It doesn't end there, you can even choose to watch a movie in space, at a drive-in, forest, classroom, or on top of a skyscraper! And the movie screen can be HUGE! In fact, some of the cinema screens in Meta Quest 3 make your real cinema look like a portable TV... seriously! You can even change your seating position unlike in a real cinema due to your pre-booked ticket! The Meta Quest 3 even allows a true 3D 4K movie experience, however, all the well known "on-demand" service providers have NOT moved with the times, and their very "dated" apps for Meta Quest 3 do not support 4K UHD movies, which is a big let down, especially to customers that subscribe to a 4K movie package. Only one well known provider (that everyone uses for video reviews and music) offers the best 4K 3D content I think, especially if you access their website via the Meta Quest 3 browser. Using the browser instead of the app seems to offer better settings and features. Oh, when viewing a 4K 3D movie in the "said site" remember to switch to Side-by-Side view "IF" you see two split identical images instead of one. This can be done by MAXIMIZING the viewing screen and selecting 3D Side-by-Side from the drop-down list at the bottom.
Meta Quest 3 allows the user to wear glasses, however, this is not good practice as the lenses on your glasses "could" come into contact with the Meta Quest 3 lenses, resulting in possible scratches. Being a wearer of glasses myself I ordered some "Meta approved" prescription lenses (see the devices accessories page) and they are absolutely fantastic! I totally recommend doing this for ultimate comfort and vision when using your Meta Quest 3.
One big downside to the fantastic features of Meta Quest 3 is battery drain. The built-in battery will be used up (flat) in 1.5 hours or less. But all is not lost, as 3rd party head straps that feature improved comfort and fitting are available if you search online, and many include EXTRA battery power! Look for headstraps with bigger batteries measured in "mAH". 8000 mAH will last longer than 2500 mAH. Some headstraps even feature interchangeable battery packs (like cordless drills) for an endless supply of power!
Conclusion...
So, if you take into account how much it would cost you to learn to fly and buy a plane and build a cinema in your house, the Meta Quest 3 at £479 that can offer a similar experience is an absolute steal! Add to that many more amazing features, games and entertainment and you really do have one of the best technology products ever to be sold on our planet. Yes, there have been VR headsets available for a few years, but Meta Quest 3 requires NO extra hardware to use, it also has NO restrictive wires, so an absolute dream to use.
DON'T mess about....Buy it....you know it makes sense!

detailedReviews 87: content: This is one of the best affordable VR headsets on the market. I see other reviews complaining about stuff that isn’t even the headsets fault. Yes, theres a chance of motion sickness called virtual reality sickness but I had no problem. My dad however does get stomach discomfort after playing. It is a great upgrade from the 2. The 3S is good for the wallet if you want a cheaper option but be aware it won’t have the visual quality of the 3. In my option the price of the 3 is worth it for the visual upgrade but if it’s your first headset you won’t tell a difference. The 3 has overall better lenses, higher image quality, and less distortion and glare than the 3S. It was easy to set up and the tutorial is great. Target has a return policy so if you’re having issues like motion sickness or other personal issues just return it.

detailedReviews 88: content: For a while, I had doubts about the survival of VR/AR headsets, especially considering that most require a tethered connection to a high-end computer. The Quest line of products, featuring standalone VR capabilities, eliminates the need for a tether and allows for greater freedom of movement—an excellent advancement. The portability factor is a game-changer, enabling you to take the headset anywhere.
During Thanksgiving, I introduced the Quest 3 to my family, and we all dove into the AR game 'First Encounters', even those initially hesitant had a blast. 'First Encounters' perfectly demonstrates the Quest 3's capabilities, especially with its new color passthrough video feature. Everyone enjoyed shooting the little alien fluffballs as they broke through the walls, including my 70+ year-old mother-in-law. I'm pretty sure my brother-in-law has already placed an order for his own Quest 3.
As a Quest 2 owner, I must commend the upgrades on the Quest 3. The redesigned controllers without the ring feel less awkward and bulky. Putting on the headset and powering it up, the improved video passthrough in color, as opposed to greyscale, is a significant enhancement. The higher resolution camera is especially beneficial for Augmented Reality (AR), also called Mixed Reality, games. Notably, there's no discernible change in weight or comfort; it remains easy to wear and doesn't feel heavy during extended gaming sessions. Overall, the Quest 3 is a commendable step forward.

detailedReviews 89: content: I have had both the quest 3 and Vision Pro for a few months now. Let me make this easy for you, unless you work full time as a programmer/content creator , developer, etc. and are married to the Mac OS, you will actually get more use and have more fun with the quest 3
So if you’re trying to get into VR or had questions about it and thought it might be kind of interesting a few years ago like I was, I think this is the best introduction experience that you can get at a reasonable price. With the recent technological advances and price Reduction due to competition m, this $500 headset can do some pretty amazing things that were not available just a few years ago and cost way more. My brother has been staying at my place for the last two weeks and he agrees that even if they cost the same amount of money and he could only have one he would choose the quest 3z
In fact, although there may be some performance metrics that the Apple Vision Pro is better at there are still so many features and games/experiences that are available on quest and not the Apple vision that you can actually end up doing a lot more. Also, the addition of the controllers is extremely convenient for quick navigation and use . If you have the extra cash, I highly recommend investing in the extended battery set up and head strap. This extra feature truly sets the quest apart from the Apple Vision Pro in the ease of use without some weird cable, sticking out from the side of head. Also, the reasonable price of $500 and The lack of really expensive glass that is easily damaged makes you feel a lot more carefree without being terrified of damaging a 4000 dollar device .

detailedReviews 90: content: Myself and my daughter both had massive headaches within a few minutes of use. Doesn't seem to bother my son though. I have read the reviews suggesting that purchasing the elite strap helps make it more comfortable but after spending $500 for the system, I'm having a hard time justifying spending more on the accessories. It should have been included since this appears to be a fairly common issue. Also, the headset does not form a complete seal around my face, there is a gap at the bottom. If I try to reposition the headset, the images become blurry. And finally, I have to agree with other reviews, the mixed reality resolution is pretty bad. Very grainy. Overall, I didn't buy this for me but disappointed that we're not all able to enjoy and for the price, not really worth it.

detailedReviews 91: content: I've been enjoying the Meta Quest 3 so far. It fits comfortably on my head and face without having to frequently readjust. The initial setup process was quick and easy to understand so I may get used to the VR world of gaming. There are plenty beginner games to aquaint yourself with the controls/headset/VR world. There are also many free games and trial games to explore different experiences before spending any money.
The only downside so far is the battery life. It lasts for around 2hours with continuous play before needing a recharge. That said, it's not a huge issue for me as it gives me a reason to take a break and get things done in the real world. Overall, a great and enjoyable device.

detailedReviews 92: content: I bought this with high expectations. I already own a set of VR glasses that are pretty impressive, but they are not as immersive as VR goggles. After doing lots of research and reading, I splurged and bought the 512GB version. I plugged it in to charge the battery and finished reading the manual.
After setting it up, which is a long process of creating accounts and configuring it for first use, and learning the controls. This process took around 45 minutes at which time the battery was almost dead when done. Back to the charger it went. After charging it again, I immediately went to the App Store and went on the search for a Live TV app. One of the key reasons for purchasing this was for live TV. I mean, you find it right on Meta's website, it says "Live TV". Well forget it. No live TV. I installed a couple other apps for video content, VR and others.
I have a PLEX server and wanted to use it. No PLEX App either. I had to purchase a 3rd party app to access my PLEX server. This app left a little to be desired. I did eventually get it to connect, and after watching about 35 minutes of video, I need to recharge it again. I will try more tomorrow I thought. After recharging yet again, I decided to go at it again before going to bed. Disappointment ofter disappointment. I plugged it into the charger and went to bed.
In the morning, I tried out some impressive deep immersive apps that show off the Meta's capabilities. I even tried out some games. Very impressive graphics and performance. But I need to charge it again after an hour. Also, the Meta is very heavy. My cheek bones were in pain and I was getting a headache. I noticed that an hour max was my limit before having to take it off due to discomfort.
All in all, the Meta is I guess cool. The website is misleading in all of its capabilities. No it can't do live TV. Apps I am used to are missing, lots of the apps are low quality, it is very heavy and the battery life is insanely short. I guess the battery life is not so bad since I can't wear it more than 60 minutes. Needless to say I took it back. For that much money, it was just not worth it to me. 3 stars from me.

detailedReviews 93: content: The mixed reality is a bit of a gimmick but still really fun. No occlusion, grainy MR image, and some warping when moving, but the few mixed reality games are fun and it looks considerably better the more well lit your environment is. As a VR headset however, it is FANTASTIC. Godly optics (best lenses on the VR market), can track controllers in low light (hand tracking not so much), a GPU that is noticeably twice as strong in standalone mode, and better wireless PCVR streaming. Upgrading from a Q2 is a no brainer, and it is honestly a better PCVR experience than most PCVR headsets other than maybe the Bigscreen Beyond and Varjo. With a cable, you can practically get a compressionless image. The standalone experience is now comparable to early PCVR days graphically. This really should have been the first VR headset released. This will be the one to get newcomers to really buy into the technology. The only things that it’s missing in my opinion are OLED panels, a displayport connection option, and a slighly more compelling Mixed Reality experience. Eye tracking would be nice too. Decinitely blows the Q2 and the Quest Pro (sorry pro investors) out of the water. If you are questioning if it is a worthwhile headset upgrade, yes, it is. I will probably never touch my index again even with the lower refresh rate. It is also worth mentioning that 120hz is not currently conventionally available on PC you have to use sidequest to enable it, but it works natively standalone. Honestly 90hz is enough with the improved optics and resolution. The image is crystal clear.

detailedReviews 94: content: I had the Quest 2 for a while, a few months after launch I believe, coming from the PSVR this was a major upgrade, my PSVR sat in the closet and was never used again, not once. I played the Q2 probably 2-3 times a week for an average of 1-2 hours per session, and I loved my experience. When the Quest 3 was announced I was quick to order one at launch. My experience with the Q3 was smooth for the entire setup, I was genuinely impressed by the improvements to the lenses, especially as someone that wears prescriptions but opts to play without my glasses. If you are someone that values clarity during your gaming experience, I would take the plunge and get the Q3 if you're buying a Quest at MSRP. An extra bonus I wasn't expecting to enjoy so much is the upgrade to the pass-through mode. The inclusion of color pass-through and the increased level of detail make this device feel much easier to navigate my house without taking my headset off. When I need to pause my game and grab a drink, check my phone, or speak to a household member, it's as easy as double tapping the headset and it's as if I'm back in the real world.
My only gripe with this headset is the adjustable spacer built into the headset, and the included head strap. The spacer is nice for small adjustments, but it's much more difficult to remove than I would have hoped. The head strap is... unremarkable. If you plan to play any games that require a lot of movement (which you probably will), I would suggest picking up a nicer strap.
Overall, massive W from Meta, I'm thoroughly impressed with this device and dont regret my purchase whatsoever.
P.S.
Buy the active straps for your controllers, worth it 1000%.

detailedReviews 95: content: Disclaimer about my setup problems, I already have a Meta Quest 2, and I'm not sure if my setup was more difficult because of it. However, it took me almost 3 hours and factory resetting my Meta Quest 3 a couple times, which I had to look up on Google how to do before it finally worked. Basically, the communication between the app and the Meta Quest 3 is borked, at least it was for me, and from what I saw from others, its a pretty common issue. Basically, the Quest and the app weren't syncing and would freeze when trying to get the code. First, the app itself is seriously non-intuitive about this. I had to actually look up how to even find the settings menu. Secondly, the app itself didn't have the menu option that the instructions should say it does, I'm guessing the QA folks wrote this for Apple and that's it.
Its much more comfortable than the Quest 2 was, at least for face fitment, and the default head band is far easier and quick to adjust for the many faces that stick themselves to the device. I have 8 kids in the house (not all mine biologically, but I claim them anyway) and that's a lot of time between adjusting. Straps are much better, but by far, the single best and biggest difference is the lens. Focus, Focus, Focus! Its easier to get, maintain, and adjust for the focus, including for a bunch of kids of various ages and sizes.
I'd like to see room for a pair of glasses without having to purchase anything extra, but it works for the ones that have them anyway, but less comfortably. Sound is maybe the same, but I personally feel its better and more immersive as well.
The controllers are basically he same, minus the weird ring on the old ones. Maybe fractionally smaller, but I'm not going to measure it to check. Comfortable though.
Passthrough is so, so much better, can actually check the app on the phone with the headset on, its in color, and I don't feel the spatial disparity between my eyes and my feet like in the Quest 2.
I think they got a lot right in most of the places, but I have to wonder, how many people will box it back up and ship it back when they suffer the setup issues. Get this fixed, and I think its pretty fantastic.

detailedReviews 96: content: To be honest I was really disappointed by how dirty the inside on the box was and how dirty the lens bags were. The lens bags had hair and a bunch of dirt on them and when I pulled out the lenses they also came out with a bunch of little hair and dust particles all over the lenses straight out of the box and bags I pulled them from. I went to clean the lenses due to how dirty they were and while doing so caused a tiny scratch that thankfully isn't in a spot that bothers me.
I do however love the quality of the lenses with the exception that they do not fit flush with the magnetic adapters attached to the Quest 3 lenses so there is a minor space in between both lenses and the adapters that dust can get between even while having them attached. I know it sounds like I'm complaining about a lot but I expected Realoptix to be. Atop of the line magnetic prescription lens insert company and aside from the quality of the lenses I don't feel like I got that "premium" experience due to how dirty everything was directly out of the box and due to the lenses and Magnetic adapters not fitting flush with eachother as advertised on the site and in reviewsI've seen from others.

This is a game changer. I actually stream my pc to the VR and play there instead of my actual monitor. The quality is better. I can Bluetooth my xbox controller to the headset. Watching movies is also a game changer it actually looks more 4k than my tv. Playing actual VR games are fun but you need good space for some games. Like sword games because you will swing your arms and hit the wall or something. The VR changes your perspective in games and they do feel a bit more realistic. You can also watch VR videos in the metaquest media and it is different than watching just a video. Everyone should try VR. I would say start slow at first to avoid motion sickness. detailedReviews 98: content: I owned the Quest 2 before eagerly awaiting the purchase of the Quest 3. I had thought about getting the Pro but realized the Quest 3 would have updated hardware and software so I went that route. The setup was seamless as all I needed to do was add a new VR headset.
The first thing I noticed was the clarity and substantial reduction of the "screen door" effect. Playing MSFS2020 was so much better as the visuals were definitely sharper. I had to go in and readjust graphic settings and found cockpit views were the sharpest ever. That being said, there seemed to be more artifacts when looking outside the cockpit at the ground below. Still trying to reduce or eliminate that issue. I can no longer use DCS as I am now having tracking issues which customer support has been unable to figure out.
The battery life is terrible. I primarily use the Quest for my flight simulator and utilize a direct link with a Meta OEM USB-C cable. I used to be able to fly for 3-4 hrs. and never had a battery issue with the Quest 2. Now, after starting with a 100% charged battery, it drops to 86% within the first 30-45 minutes for use, all while connected to a killer PC (Aorus Master Z790, i9-13900KS @5.7GB, 360 AIO water cooler, RTX-4090 GPU, 32GB DDR5 7200 RAM, and a 1000W PS. The other night, after 2hrs of flying, I got a warning my battery was low and found it had dropped to 25%! It's hard to fathom that being connected to a reliable computer and set with a "Performance" power setting, it's incapable of sustaining a reasonable battery level.
I find the head strap subpar and uncomfortable (after 30mins I had to take the headset off), especially after dropping over $600 for this headset. Thank goodness for aftermarket products. So, I had to drop another $25 so I could be comfortable wearing the headset for long periods.
Oh wait, I forgot to mention the additional $25 I spent on a nicely padded and super comfy face pad with a lower light blocker. The provided face pad is the furthest thing from being comfortable. And the original doesn't provide much distance from my eyes to the lenses, as my eyelashes keep rubbing against them (BTW, I'm a 68-year-old guy. I doubt my eyelashes are unusually long).
On top of this, I experienced the dreaded no-start condition, where the Quest 3 leaves you with nothing but a black, dead view. I had to dig through numerous posts to find out that a hard reset may help fix the issue. The first time it happened, I pressed the power and volume buttons for 15 seconds for a reboot and normal operation. Then the next day it happened again, this time though after the headset turned on, I was met with the little Android guy and some weird error message. Another hard boot established a normal turn-on sequence.
It is painfully obvious the rollout was premature, and the new version really didn't hit the mark as it should have. IMHO, The Quest 3 is nothing but an older Pro version in white and with an updated Snapdragon processor. I can only hope software updates will remedy the noted issues many are experiencing.

detailedReviews 100: content: It has been way more fun than I have been expecting and perfect timing for steam link wireless as well. It works a lot better than the oculus link which is very much full of latency issues as far as playing games. I am able to run 4k settings on wireless and can't even manage 72 hz at native on oculus link. That being said i have reached out to the cable company because the quest usb test says it is only getting 2.5 gb on a 10gb cable.
The biggest rave leading up to launch was the passthrough cameras. Which I have to say a bit lackluster. I was not expecting 1990s quality where the view is very fuzzy and little off tone. That being said the screen that it actually produces to view is sharp and crispy very pleasant. I love pulling up youtube or something and just pulling it around the house with me without having to use the controller to do so.
Most of my time has been spent playing F1 22 and 23 with it which is just unreal now that I upped the resolution and hz rate. Average battery life will depend on what you are playing but expect 1-2 hours which is good because you need to take a break but you won't want to because you are having fun. The sound quality of the speakers are also really good. They project well into your ear so much so that people around you can only hear if it is on max really.
The headband strap and glasses capability is where my only real gripe is. It has fallen off my head one time so far onto my cats head on my lap :( As i had loosened the strap to try and make it sit further down the back of my head. This gave it enough give for the weight of it to fall forward. The strap for me and my set up is basically sitting above the bump on the back of your head like a sweat band. Also the viewing angle.. again i don't know how much of this is because of the glasses but I have to bascially look through from the bottom of the lense of the vr set to get a clear picture so I can also basically see under the nose grove in order for the picture to be clear. Yes, you can get prescription lenses from a 3rd party however as your prescription changes... need new lenses for your glasses and vr .
Overall I am very pleased with the product. The controllers take AA batteries so maybe invest in some enerlopes. I have yet to see real battery drain on them since Christmas yet and i use it every weekend.
