Usage & Expectations: My usage pattern involves frequent listening, primarily indoors in air-conditioned environments. While I do sweat more than average, I specifically avoid using earphones during workouts. My exposure to sweat typically happens during commutes or when stepping outside briefly. Given the IP55 rating, which suggests protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, I reasonably expected the Nord Buds 3 to handle this level of sweat – equivalent to what a regular person might encounter. I never exposed them to rain or dropped them in water. The Failure Point - After Just 10 Weeks: Unfortunately, my experience fell drastically short. In just around 10 weeks (less than 3 months), I started experiencing significant connection issues. Upon inspection, I noticed corrosion or damage on the charging contact points. Significantly, all four contact points on the buds were affected simultaneously. The connection problems manifested in frustrating ways: Even after placing the buds back into the charging case, my phone would often still show them as connected and in use, draining their battery unnecessarily. Conversely, sometimes when taking the buds out of the case, they wouldn't connect or function at all, acting as if they were still stored inside. This erratic behavior points directly to the damaged contact points failing to correctly signal whether the buds were docked or undocked. While sweat is corrosive, the simultaneous failure of all four points in such a short time raises questions about whether this was solely due to sweat ingress or potentially indicative of a manufacturing defect or design flaw compromising the seals or contact materials. The IP55 rating certainly led me to believe they should have withstood this level of exposure. Horrible Service Experience: Seeking a solution under warranty, I visited the OnePlus service center. I clearly pointed out the damage to the contact points and described the specific connection issues. Despite this, I was made to wait for approximately 45 minutes, only to be told that the warranty claim was denied due to "liquid damage," citing the shorted contact points. This response was incredibly frustrating. The service felt dismissive, with no real consideration given to the rapid failure time, the specific symptoms linked directly to contact failure, the simultaneous failure of all contacts, or the potential discrepancy between the advertised IP rating and real-world performance. Warranty Policy vs. Expectation: It was only after this denial that the specifics of the warranty became starkly clear. I understand now that OnePlus's official warranty policy may explicitly exclude any form of liquid damage, including sweat. However, even knowing the policy, the overall experience remains deeply unsatisfactory. For a product rated IP55 to fail from moderate, non-exercise sweat exposure in such a short timeframe is concerning. I expected a better experience – both from the product lasting significantly longer than 10 weeks and from a customer service interaction that felt less like an immediate dismissal. Conclusion: My experience with the OnePlus Nord Buds 3 has been extremely disappointing. The earphones failed completely in about 10 weeks due to apparent sweat damage causing critical contact point failure, despite an IP55 rating and careful, non-exercise use. The simultaneous failure of all contact points is suspicious. While OnePlus may not cover liquid damage under warranty according to their policy, the rapid product failure combined with a dismissive and unhelpful service experience leaves a very poor impression. Based on this, I cannot recommend the OnePlus Nord Buds 3, especially to individuals who might expose them to even moderate sweat. The practical durability seems questionable, and the after-sales support was lacking. Potential buyers should be wary. I am now forced to find replacement earphones far sooner than acceptable.

snippets: you can see that the frequency response is kind of v-shaped there's a big bump in the base and an even bigger bump in the Trello but one thing to note though is when we plugged these into the ears of our mannequin head that tests earphones and then we ran the app fit test we could only get a fit of average not a good fit we got good fits on our own years but not for the mannequin head and so that kind of shakes our confidence and our test results a little bit if if it had a better seal it may have had an even bigger bump in the base over here around 60 HZ which would make it even more v-shaped and maybe even more base below 40 HZ we don't know this for sure that's just a charal interpretation of what maybe could have happened, the app does offer three different EQ presets the default is balanced but you also can increase the base that's the red line on the screen here or you can turn on serenade which is weird because it lowers the Bas but keeps the treble the same you might think that's getting it towards being more natural because on the balance profile the Bas is overcooked however since it just makes the graph more and more skewed it might actually sound less balanced to you so summing up the sound profile you're going to hear base kicks are going to be really prominent vocals are really forward the mids are kind of depressed a lot of people will like these but if you're after a neutral sound these are just not very neutral control out of the box

snippets: long touch can go volume up or volume down I would put down on the left and up on the right let's see how well that works oh wow that takes forever to engage and then the steps are pretty slow too when you hit it it actually gives you like a 32 one go kind of sound in your ear it goes beep beep boop now it is adjusting that is so weird it's like it has to unlock before it's going to start adjusting the volume it just takes so long I would I would never use that imagine someone comes up to talk to you and you're like hold on a second let me just turn this down hold on this s is still pretty loud okay now I'm ready like all noise canceling earbuds these days they have the transparency mode off and active noise cancelling but these ones actually have different levels of noise cancellation mild moderate and Max and we did some measurements but just with Max it's not the strongest active noise cancelling we've ever measured but again we had that seal issue and that could be at play in particular you can see around 40 60 htz range that it's really not doing very much compared to just having your earbud in with the active noise cancelling off just treating them kind of like earplugs that's what what the green line is you can see that the red active noise counceling line is actually higher than the passive green line from around 1,000 to 2500 htz meaning that the active noise cancelling actually blocks out less sound than just having them in your ears in this range and this is something we've seen before we're not sure what the mechanism is there but it's not unique to these buds OnePlus advertises up to 49 DB of active noise cancellation we don't know at what frequency that claim is from we only got you know not even 30 um again grain of salt because we didn't have a great seal in the mannequin I'm calling it that now

snippets: now aside from that pretty standard case no issues as far as size or pocket ability there is no wireless charging which honestly isn't a surprise because the OnePlus buds 3 don't have wireless charging either, now as far as the earbuds they're staying true to the stem style design and these actually have what OnePlus calls a water drop shaped stem you can see the stem kind of tapers off towards the top and it just gives the buds a more stylish look you got the standard touch controls on the side of the earbuds Buds and they are customizable which is always nice but one thing they don't have is sliding volume control with the buds three you can swipe along the stem to adjust your volume which feels a lot more intuitive whereas on the buzz 3 Pro a press and hold adjust the volume and it's a little bit tricky because there's also a tap and hold function which controls the Ambient sound so it does take a minute or two just to figure out how to execute each of those functions independently

snippets: I've just done a fit test and I found out using the medium siiz tips I only get an average seal on both years but if I wear the bigger ones I get an average seal in this year and a good seal in this year cuz my head ain't symmetrical, they feel secure they're IP 55 rated so that's pretty good on the dust support um lots of your phones just don't even certify the Engish protection for dust and debris five is the second highest you can get for that and then for the water protection a lot of earbuds just have four which is splashes these have a five which I believe is jet sprays from all angles um the next level up would be submersion they're not ready for that
