I used the card to not only purchase my new PS 5, I also got a great deal on a home theater sound system to complement and enhance my gaming experience.
If you haven't had the Playstation experience, and not sure if you want to, I can say as a gamer from the 80's and this being my first time owning a Playstation I am so impressed and couldn't be happier!
Easy to set up and navigate through its good to familiarize yourself with the menu, settings and controller options. Most of these have easy to follow in-game tutorials and support.
The DualSense Wireless Controller fits nicely in your hands and has many features, (I played through the Astro's PLAYROOM tutorial, that was pre-installed with my PS5 console) Super fun and easy to interact with, you'll be surprised and amazed by the many functions of this controller designed to give you the ultimate gaming experience!
The PS5 Console looks amazing. Out of the box it has white detachable face plates which can be swapped out for different designs and colors, (I changed mine to Black)
Most come with the standard features and products like power cords, USB cables. (Check your box for details) Knowing how to take on and off the face plate will help with cleaning and general maintenance.
I have my PS5 Horizontal in a dust free area, and it looks great and fits right in. For my first gaming experience I chose the game Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for the PS5. Playing this game on an Olde screen really puts you into another world. You can tell a lot of care went into the game, as some of the details are stunning. I often stop just to watch the sunset. With the controller rumbling and pushing out sound effects from the game just puts you even deeper into this beautiful colored and vibrant world.

I’ll start with the loading speeds. after playing on the PS5 i realized the drastic change in loading speeds as i realized loading screens were almost non existent. Not just in games but booting them up is so much faster than on a PS4. The graphics and visuals are beautiful making any game you play on a PS5 run smoothly and beautifully as if you are watching movies. Lastly the controller haptic feedback which is one of the biggest reasons why i bought this console. The controllers are way more immersive in mainly shooter games as there is resistance in the triggers that imitate as if you were actually pulling a trigger from an actual gun. Another thing is the recoil in the triggers. I don’t know how they were able to do this but now when you hold down the controller triggers they vibrate and imitate recoil to make it feel more real and immersive. Now of course if you do not like the feeling of the feedback you can turn this setting off. But I could not help but smile the whole time as I was playing the PS5 and I was just amazed at the technology and the huge leap in Playstation. If you have the money i would 100% recommend picking yourself up a PS5 from your local best buy.

The controller is definitely one of those areas; the sensation and feedback a big step up from the old.
The loading speeds too; compared to the same games on PS4, are phenomenally quick.
There’s a couple of points I am less sure on - the exterior design is still not to my liking, even after several years of its release to get used to. It’s just a bit odd; the sweeping plastic panels stick out on their own at the top corners, feeling exposed to being broken, and the disc player (I know it’s a bolt-on, but still..) just feels like an afterthought - not fully in keeping with the rest of the machine.
I’m still getting my head around the menus as well. They don’t always feel very intuitive or well laid-out.
But then I thought the same about the PS4. I still find myself missing the simple, smooth elegance of the PS3 where the menu interface is concerned.
Anyway, overall I am still very happy with the experience the PS5 provides. It’s a refined, smooth play, and still feels quality I’ve come to expect from Sony’s offering.

detailedReviews 4: content: After not being able to get a PS5 in 2020 due to buying a (at the time) $1,700 dollar PC gaming rig. The way my friends spoke about it was basically saying that the PS5 was a pipe dream. So I finally got one in the beginning of May to play God of War Ragnarok, Spiderman Miles Morales, Gran Turismo and Spiderman 2. After installing and setting it up it is 100% worth the hype and praise for a 500 dollar console. It runs beautifully at 60fps on all of my games I purchased, and even on games like NBA 2K and Madden having those frames and performance boosts can make or break your competitive games.
What I also love the most about it is 2 things, one is having a optional security passcode for each time you turn on your PS5 and logging in. Even though I use it only in my house it helps when uninvited guests come over and try to play your console without permission. And the 2nd thing is that the gameplay capture system on board has been greatly improved from the PS4. You can now on the fly record or snap clips from up to a 1 hour ago, and now you can snap as little as 10 seconds, to 15, 30, 1 minute, 5, and then 10 minutes and beyond. The footage is also crystal clear surprisingly at 1080P 60FPS with your choice of upping to 1440P or 4K. Huge step up from the PS4 as a content creator, YouTuber, or Streamer.
I also love the new PS5 controller! It is such a step up from the PS4 controller that I loved and they made improvements. Firstly the battery lasts 3 to 4 times longer than the PS4 controller battery, has an onboard mic in the controller and toggle mute button that I didn't even find out until a couple nights ago. And it also features an almost engraved Playstation button pattern for the controller shell, and has adaptive triggers that will enhance gameplay and adjust depending on the game you're playing.
I've also purchased 3 PS5 Dualsense Edge Pro controllers for my games I play competitively on console and each controller I can set up to my exact liking and have up to 4 profiles on each. Just simply plug in run the software update and you're good to go. Will come in handy when I have friends over and we fire up fighting games or sports games. And the best part, is how it captures the PS3 era with specific games playing a theme to it on the home screen when you hover over your game.
Overall, it is a great console and makes me wish I could've gotten it sooner before I switched to PC gaming. I always been a PlayStation kid since the original Sony PlayStation, all the way up to the PlayStation 5. And each console has not let me down. I genuinely feel like a kid again unboxing my new PlayStation for the first time. And I'm already loving the exclusives that PlayStation has to offer along with recommended modern titles like God of War and Need For Speed. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to save New York from Rhino and Sandman with Peter Parker and Miles Morales!

Playing Returnal with my Ps5 Pro controller, the onboard speaker actually does a lot for immersion!
They've got it down.
It turns on my Sony TV when I turn it on, and turns off when my tv turns off. My TCL doesn't do that.
The headphone jack works great, even though it shuts off the speakerss on the TV, that's actually a benefit, because it's rare that you would want both and my wife can use it with no hassle.
PS Plus is as good as Gamepass ever was now.
Tons of PS1, PS2 and PS3/4 titles that you can download immediately or stream instantly.
I can be nostalgic at the drop of a dime and I love it.
Watching YouTube on my TV with headphones through the controller allows me to watch quietly with a big setup and mostly wirelessly.
The haptic controllers are a really cool experience and are fun sometimes even if not all the time!
Sony is more compatible with USB microphones that Xbox and you can just plug in some headphones that have a microphone without complicated work arounds like Xbox.
It HDMI 2.1 for high refresh rates and resolutions, even if not customizable like a PC, the default settings often just work best.
Overall, very pleased with mine.
I was going to wait and upgrade to the Pro, but I haven't noticed any reason to do so. I'm a pretty discerning user, as I love high resolution and frame rates. So that's saying a lot!
I also was doing some upgrades to my NAS (hard drive storage unit) and ordered an extra SSD.
Well well well. My Xbox can't use that for extra storage, but my Sony Can!
I DO tend to play my Xbox more because it has Roboquest. And that is really the only reason. I prefer the experience of my PS5 in almost every way.

Great looking visuals from the games I've purchased for it (Helldivers 2, LOU remake). Very smooth with my tv and the provided HDMI cable. Make sure to use this cable or a suitable hdmi version equivalent (2.1 or higher)
The controller steps up from the PS4 with more dimensions to the haptic feedback and a more weighty feel. A USB C charge port means the controller can be charged easily from other device chargers. The provided charging cable is a little short to reach where you will likely be sitting.
I went for the disk version as am still attached to some of the PS4 console games I have on disk. I find it runs nice and quiet. Blu ray movies playback nicely. If you're digital only then you can save a bit more in terms of money and space by getting the digital version.
Overall a great continuation of the console line.

I see hours and hours of play with this and think it’s worth the investment!

Have to say though, the controller really is something else - how we went this many years of gaming without anyone taking a serious look at the main way we interact with the games is beyond me, but it really is a leap from the previous generation.
The home UI on the Sony machines is still a bit unweildy compared to the Xbox but by no means difficult or unituitive, just not quite as familiar as others.
The load times on this new unit are remarkable; the SSD upgrade from the original model is really worth the increase in RRP.
It is louder than I was hoping or expecting, but that's not to say it's actually loud, more that it's noticeable. But if the price for effective cooling is that every now and then during a (very fast) loading screen I hear a low whirring, I'll take it.
Physically the new "slim" PS5 - which is not actually its offical name, for an obvious reason - is not that slim, nor is it markedly smaller than the previous PS5. It is technically 30% smaller across all 3 dimensions and does fit into more entertainment units, but it won't make you stand back and say "blimey that's a little thing isn't it?" Where previously a PS4 slim, an Xbox One X, and Switch all fit linearly, there is now a vertical Xbox, a Switch rotated 90 degrees, and a new PS5. At least they've toned down the egregious wings.
Overall I'm glad I went for the new model over the discounted old model, because all the little improvements in size, load times, cooling, etc., as well as the knowledge that this unit is a little more future-proof, are worth the extra cash.

I'm replaying Ghost of Tsushima from the start after I've already beaten it on the PS4. It's even more beautiful. I'm playing God of war Ragnarok which is awesome. The haptic feedback controllers alone are worth the price of admission. I really enjoy the feedback I get in the R2/L2 buttons on my racing games. Bought a couple new games, they kind of suck, but I'm still glad I upgraded. I just hope they start making some good original games again. Seems like covid killed that. The graphics are excellent. I PC gamed for years until the PS3, which was a step down, but my son became old enough to play games. The PS4 has pretty good graphics. But this PS5 is the first time I've seen really strong graphics on a console. It looks great, especially on a Sony OLED TV.

I have a pc that I play as well, but it sometimes takes a while to fiddle with downloads, updates, etc and this is a great just cut on and go console, the ps5 games run okay on pc but the system runs them flawlessly of course, my series x still holds fun for me but the ps5 reignited my interest and fun with gaming. Ps2 was my all time favorite console and I haven’t had so much fun in a PlayStation since then until now. If you’ve got the money and are still debating it, go ahead and join in on the fun!

Leads me to believe it’s a hardware issue and as great that sounds I never got the extended warranty through Walmart to have it be replaced. But with that being the only issue I really have no other complaints. Its a great console

detailedReviews 16: content: I don't have as interesting a story to tell about my second PlayStation 5 as I did my first but I don't want to wait outside a Best Buy for another 30 hours and make more new friends. So now that we have passed the “how easy it is to get one of these now” part of the story let's talk about the system. The 1st one I bought 2 years ago is the original size one. This one is slim, it is sleeker and smaller but not so much you can tell, maybe 35% smaller. It is easier to lay flat with little feet that you place in the middle underneath, instead of this awkward disc pedestal that came with the original. I also bought extended SSD drives for both of my PS5s and they were the exact same process, not much different from the original to this one. There was an extra boot up screen because the disk drive can now be sold separately for those who want to buy a PS5 without and then get a drive for disc later. However, only aesthetic differences can one see between the original and the slim PS5. On the original the front ports are 1 USB-B and 1 USB-C and 2 USB-B on the back. On this slim, there are 2 USB-C on the front (one labeled SSD for external memory, if you don't go with the internal extended memory) but still works to charge controllers, and 2 USB-B on the back. Performance is the same beauty is the same, everything about it is just awesome. I may have to keep this one and give the other one to the children. Be sure to get some extended memory, external or internal. For internal most stores sell them for or with PS5 in mind for saving and downloading. Install videos for the internal are all over YouTube.

It turns out my PS4 that I thought died just needed to be brought to my local electronics fixer for a simple fix.
But hey, I love this one as much as my 4 (a bit more actually) so yay for finally getting the 5 after all this time, I really love how fast it is and especially how many ps4 games are backwards compatible with it, I got the disc version and it seems to work perfect. Also the duelshock controller is such an upgrade compared to the PS4 controller!!
One thing I truly don't like about this is how white it is, I know it's superficial but the og black just looked better for the previous models, I already have plans and items in my Amazon cart to reshell both the controller and the console itself, so that'll be fun.
This was also my first time using BestBuy online, (usually I just go there, but again panic lol) it was awesome with a very quick delivery and no problems with the box so thanks for that!!

We all know the cooler your machine, the better . I would recommend this PlayStation , like I said above I can play ps4 disc games and ps5 discs us online, so best of 3 worlds. It's no brainier really, easy to set up, but you must be online to register the disc drive, after that it's done and play on , and no you don,t need to do anything else, it's just register disc drive machine then a quick software update and your done ??

Unfortunately the system suffers the same problem of the PS4 by not having enough memory to store a lot of the bigger AAA games which are now data hogs, because the big studios don’t compress game data like they’re supposed to anymore.

Product arrived inside a cardboard Walmart box. Within that, the sticker on the actual PS5 box was already ripped, which instantly makes this AT LEAST an open box sale in my mind. I don't see any signs that the product inside has actually been used or damaged in any way, but can't be certain. If it was used it must have been minimal and cleaned up extremely well because there's not a single smudge or spec of dust. Product so far seems to work perfectly.
Product was sold at a bit of a discount, and so I'm not too surprised if it was an open box. In fact I like buying open box - easy discount and almost never any issues. But it should be advertised as such.

If you have an external drive on your PS4, that was even easier. Just plug it into the PS5 and it recognizes it instantly.
Not sure if everyone is aware, but you can't play games on the PS5 unless they on loaded onto the internal drive. Just and FYI.

So I had to make another purchase and get an M.2 drive so I can have all of my games downloaded at once and keep my saves in the games. So plan on making another purchase if you don't want to download and delete games. My last gripe is I had to get used to the new layout of how to get to the Home Screen and settings I learned pretty fast it was just an adjustment. It's nice to be able to adjust the sounds of the beep and controller. Also the brightness of the controller, console and the low power mode settings can be adjusted to update the system, games and charge the controllers and of that doesn't need to be done or will go in a super low energy mode. It goes from low power mode to on very quickly and you can turn it on from the PlayStation app too. I'm glad I can still play all of my PS4 games and some came with free PS5 versions.

The GUI is a bit of a mess. the rows are not intuitive and its cumbersome to get to the things you want to get to. The PS3 had the best GUI and each generation seems to be getting worse.
I also noticed how poorly integrated headphone volume is integrated. I was co-oping Bloodborne with a friend and had earbuds plugged into the controller. it is constant work trying to get the game volume and party volume balanced. I would have to manually change the game volume so it doesnt overpower the voice chat.
Also, on PS4, if I was playing bloodborne and used the spotify app, the game music would automatically mute (a nice detail!). However, this feature appears to be lost on PS5 or perhaps it only works with certain PS5 games.
The performance is obviously leagues ahead of the PS4 so no issues with running games. Its also easy to transfer saves from a PS4 to a PS5 with just a flashdrive.
Overall, The UI and functionality is worse than the PS4, but performance is obviously leagues ahead, and I like the controller more.

First the packaging was as bad as others have pointed out. Completely unacceptable for a big company. Second, the system was filthy, as someone else had pointed out in another review. I have ordered tons of refurbished or renewed products. Never once have I received someone that looked as bad as this. Especially since a lot of this could have been cleaned up and is what I would expect apart of the standard refurbishing process to be. Lastly, the unit didn't even work. The system would come and try to start loading and then restart. Occasionally it would make it to the language screen, and then restart. This tells me that the unit wasn't even tested, because you would obviously see that it was not working if it was. Bestbuy should be embarrassed by what they are sending customers. This is unacceptable by any standards. Sadly as a member and cardholder, after this experience, I will not buy another refurbished or renewed item from them.

I do recommend getting this if you like single player games, because Xbox has way more multiplayer games, and I did enjoy that. When playing on PlayStation do keep in mind that multiplayer games that you pay for can only be played if you buy PlayStation plus, you can’t just buy a game and automatically be able to play online, I just learned that (ik I’m late). But overall I love it!

The 1st console that arrived was a standard Ps5 without a stand. It was packed horribly and was extremely dirty and scratched up. It did work though, so I used it until I could order a replacement. Which was currently out of stock at the time. Fast forward a week and a half later, I was able to order another refurbed console. Luckily this time a Ps5 slim showed up, a bit better packed but with a pretty big hole on the side of the box. Fortunately, the console was fine and was also surprisingly clean. There is a pretty nice sized mark on one of the top plates, but its no big deal. The only real downside on the second order is the stand. I was sent the original Ps5 base, not the little plastic feet that go to the slim model. I've made it work and I'm happy with the purchase. I just wish Bestbuy did a better job of quality control on their refurbished products.

Maybe Sony just puts cheap blu-ray drives into these things, because right out of the box, the PS5 is already struggling to read discs, too. I think they want people to buy all-digital games nowadays, which is more convenient, but there's a whole host of ownership and consumer rights legal problems with that I'm not comfortable with.
Even if you want digital games, the hard drive on this thing is pitiful. I'd filled it all the way up to max in barely three days. You can plug external HDDs in, but good luck finding space or power for that, and that's going to be another $50-$100 on top of this $500 console.
By default, the console is also always recording video of your gameplay. Whatever internal storage is in this device is going to get worn out quickly -- this is what killed my Playstation 4, afterall, and with this being an SSD, it might die of old age even faster than the PS4 did. I'm sure Sony loves the idea of planned obsolescence though.
Menus on the device are better in some ways and worse in others. One step back is that the Playstation 5 no longer lets you sort games into folders. You just have to scroll through a giant list of whatever's available until you find what you want to play.
It's nice you get PS5 versions of a lot of PS4 games but the system to handle that is frustrating. Not all PS5 games can see PS4 save data, so there are a few games where loading up the enhanced PS5 version makes me start over from the beginning of the game. Other games are weird about it -- Spider-man 1 made me upload my PS4 save file to the cloud and then download it in the PS5 version, and Sonic Frontiers PS5 could load my PS4 save just fine but it didn't carry over any of my unlock progress.
Also the device is just ugly as heck. It's shaped weirdly, sticks out like a sort thumb, and doesn't really serve any purpose besides being an eyesore.
But the games look nice and load very quickly, so at least there's that. At $70 per game, they'd better.

I am a technology fan & I've had every console that's been out and this is best avoided as the PS4 pro is better all round and the majority of games for the ps5 are actually PS4 games there's nothing to show how this should be given the enhanced graphics & frame rates for a ps5 it's so disappointing but I recommend a good Google for information especially all the major issues & joining some Facebook ps5 sites to see just how truly poor this console really is. also the A frame feet plastic are absolutely dreadful and there are source of issues with the console noise. it's honestly not good enough for the price at all.

This leaves us to pick one child over another to gift the code or be cruel and keep it ourselves. The setup manual leaves out some important setup details to make the games play properly. I had one child completely locked out of the system for 2 days until I made an entirely new profile the same exact way. The parental controls to keep our kids from mature content are clunky at best and lacking. If I had it to do over , I would not purchase this item. Now for those adults who are gamers, the graphics, sound, and speed can not be beat.

Some of the issues I had with the original PS5, like, inconsistent WiFi, and a generally slow network card, I have a 1000/1000 network, and this is the only device which barely hits 10mbps on upload (wired or wifi), while Xbox SX and any other device at home can easily take full advantage of bandwidth. Another issue that's still present, is a whining noise in-game menus, why is this console so loud in-game menus? I guess it's something to do with frame rate rendering, they probably don't limit their FPS in menus causing that stupid overprocessing, the same games on Xbox SX don't have those issues, so it's purely Sony's problem. Vibrations- disc drive is so poorly dampened, I have a hard floor in my living room and this console resonates like crazy, I can't watch a movie unless I put something under it, no such issue with Xbox or original PS5. And those are just a few issues that come to mind. Overall, I feel like Sony is just trying to cash in on "new" things rather than making efforts to improve it. And keeping the same price, I bet hardware cost them less now, yet they kept the same retail price, shame on you Sony!
Re.CEX pricing- while not always competitive, trading in other stuff and paying the difference isn't as bad as the shelf price, and having 24 24-month warranty on a used item is handy, it's actually more than you'd get from most new item sellers.

The charger case you store them is a nice design and takes 40 minutes to fully charge. I had to connect the usb a cable to the device to get it to connect but connected just fine. And omg the box they come in is like figuring out a puzzle without tearing it. Never seen such a thing. Overall for now there perfect but you cant update your review so who knows in a week or two. Also there good for music, Real good. Take a chance and buy them. They just might work out for you. Also if your tired of a big heavy thing on your head and if you move the wrong way they might fall off. None of that with these. I dont dance but if i could i would with these. Fav game franchise COD sounds awesome with these. And scary games. You will jump having these on.

So that's resolved. We haven't been able to connect since December 2024 updates. Sony never addressed it. I'm still not sure if the upgrade was worthwhile outside of that.

I ended up getting lucky and found the last one in stock at a target that was 40 minutes away, I made sure to check the seal before this one made it out the door and all was good!
