detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: I write this having never experienced any other e-ink note-taking device. I have extensive experience with every other paperwhite reader though. Kindle hands down make the best paperwhite readers and this one is probably the best, most fluid reader I've had...and if you get the right case (NOT the folio kindle sells for 60 dollars, see my review of that under the item for more), it's quite comfortable even as just a large paperwhite reader. Obviously, if you're buying this you're not just in it for a paperwhite reader, if that's the case I recommend the 11th gen kindle paperwhite (I don't recommend the Oasis because its battery life is not nearly as good as the 10th or 11th gen, I've used them all, so I speak from experience), it's much more affordable than a scribe. Back to this scribe, it's awesome when taking notes and editing novels. You can send your own novels to the device, though I did have some trial and error doing so. I found that sending as word doc was the best because it presents your work as a book...with pdf I didn’t like how when I zoomed in it didn’t readjust to the pages etc. The scribe is super responsive and I like how the fountain pen makes my handwriting a little neater some how. I am looking forward to the update that's on the way that will let your in book notes STAY where you put them. It's annoying how it will throw the note box just wherever as it is now. I also look forward to having a place on the side to make notes, which they said will be coming soon. If you have the original scibe, I don't see the point in upgrading because all of the updates will be coming to you too, but I bought this because I didn't have any scribe. Overall, this is a solid purchase and is a bit less than the remarkable paper pro...for what I need it for, I couldn't justify spending the extra money on a remarkable etc.

title: Best paperwhite reader, fluid writing experience
detailedReviews 2: content: Do yourself a favor and buy this! Perfect for reading, writing, note-taking and study. If I would’ve had this in college I would’ve had the best notes and probably mastered content way easier and faster. I love that I can download virtually any book I want, even most textbooks from what I can can see which is perfect for a student and often cheaper than buying paperback. I love the AI functionality also. It transcribes my handwritten notes with superb accuracy. It could have more fonts to choose from and a bit more added functionality geared towards the note-taking features like adding shapes and symbols into the notes. If you like drawing from time to time on an edevice this would probably work for you also as you can do shading effects. The versatility of this is amazing for such a great price point. You can even make to-do lists, calendars, you name it. You can also purchase template books and calenders from the book store if you don’t love the templates that are pre-loaded. This product is really a home run. I’ve never been happier and more excited about any other kind of tablet, kindle, iPad or note taking device I’ve owned. I found out I can copy and paste notes I’ve made in books into my notebooks which is SO useful. The notebooks come with several templates to choose from making it very versatile. Battery life is great. Even with frequent use it lasts for several days at least without worrying about charging it up. The penciled screensaver art is a nice touch and you don’t deal with ad bombarding from the other devices. I wish you could save it to only show the screensaver you want as some are a bit childish. All around favorite device I’ve owned. I’m reading and writing way more often since owning this kindle scribe. The size is perfect for reading and writing. Fits comfortably in my lap without strain, and the pen is awesome. You can change the settings for the button on the pen to a functionality you use often. Buy the case to protect it and it’s easier to prop up and hold on in your lap.

title: Perfect for reading, writing, note-taking, and study
detailedReviews 3: content: The new Kindle Scribe is an excellent combination of an e-reader and note-taking device. It provides a smooth reading experience for thousands of books, as usual with the other Kindle models, and the writing options are great. The big screen makes reading very easy and a pleasant experience. The note taking options are helpful for organising notes for a range of different projects, studies, and activities, and keep everything in the same place. Although I do not have any experience with other e-ink devices I have found the writing on the Kindle Scribe to be outstanding and almost identical to writing on paper. My only point for improvement would be to include sync options for integration with cloud services, e.g., OneDrive or Google Drive, which may be added in the future.

title: Excellent e-reader and note-taking device combination
detailedReviews 4: content: The display on this really has to be seen in person to realize how much it is like an actual piece of paper! The text is very sharp and the fact that it can last months on one battery charge is pretty amazing.
The Scribe is a pretty thin piece of metal, but feels very solid, and I'm assuming the wider left side is designed that way to give you a good place to grip it since it would be difficult otherwise with how thin it is. The pen writes extremely well and even though I don't expect I'll use it much for taking notes in books (it's rare I do that) I do think I'll use it often for notes during sermons, to-do lists, and other random times that I would normally grab a piece of paper. I feel good knowing if the tip wears down it came with plenty of spares, it really is just fun to write with!
The device is kept extremely simple, which is good for most things but can be a little clunky when I think of just opening a document on my phone but with this I need to use an app on my phone to send the document to my Kindle and then open it. It's really not a big deal and is pretty quick, but I don't plan to do it for most documents, probably only for things that are longer reads. It makes sense of why it's perfect for ebooks...and I'm so excited that it automatically has my library of audio books as well!
Overall the Scribe is fantastic! It looks great, is thin and light, and will keep reading from hurting my eyes staring at a phone/computer screen. If you're an avid book reader (especially if you write notes in them) then this is a no-brainer, but even if that's not what you like to do it could still be worth getting for the times when you don't want to stare at a screen or lug around a bunch of books.

title: Display like paper, long battery, fun to write
detailedReviews 5: content: Using the world’s first 10.2” 300 ppi glare-free Amazon - Kindle Scribe, featuring the Paperwhite display and included Basic Pen, I can read and write as naturally as I do on paper. I can take notes within millions of titles in the Kindle Store, handwrite thoughts on sticky notes in my favorite book with the included Basic Pen, and the notes are automatically organized by book in one place, so that I can browse, review, and export them via email. So, I can create notebooks, journals, and lists, choosing from a variety of included templates like lined paper, grid paper, checklists, and more, which is super cool.
Using the Amazon - Kindle Scribe I can read and write comfortably day or night, whether immersing myself in a non-fiction book, or reviewing a document, Kindle Scribe has a large, high-resolution display, adjustable warm light, auto-adjusting front light, and larger font sizes for a personalized experience, which makes it super easy for me to use this awesome electronic device. Also, using this device I can read and write longer, since a single charge via USB-C powers months of reading and weeks of writing, and the Basic Pen never needs to be charged.
I have been using the Amazon - Kindle Scribe daily and love reading and writing using this awesome electronic device. I have already recommended the Amazon - Kindle Scribe to many of my friends and family and several of them have already purchased and used this device and they all love immersing themselves in the Kindle Scribe and love the amazing features of this device including its large, high-resolution display, adjustable warm light, auto-adjusting front light, and larger font sizes for a personalized experience.

detailedReviews 7: content: Purchased with a gift card from points I earned on a credit account and an upgrade from the Kindle Paperwhite. This is a HUGE improvement over my iPad pro’s overly-slick glass screen with Paperlike screen film. I’m able to write normally with far less hand strain. The AI text conversion and summarization is what set it apart from Remarkable’s entry. I would like to see the ability to link notes come to this device as a future upgrade soon.

detailedReviews 8: content: I am very impressed with the Kindle Scribe! Right out of the box, the battery had a significant amount of charge so I could set it up immediately. During setup, I was given the option to connect to WiFi and my Amazon account. And then it offers a free subscription of kindle unlimited and audible premium so I can fully experience all of the features. I love that! I downloaded my first book and got into several pages into it last night. The kindle is very pleasant on the eyes, even in the dark. (And of course, in dark mode!)
The scribe aspect of this kindle is so fun (and functional). You can open up the Notebook section on the bottom and it’s just blank sheets of paper. You can write/ draw whatever you like with the stylus and then swipe left if you want to add a new page. You can also create your own custom calendar, which I think it fun and therapeutic. And finally, you can add sticky notes to pages of the books you’re reading- and make hand-written notes there, too. This thing is fantastic.
The only downside I can see is that it doesn’t have any built in speakers to play the Audible books, so you have to be able to connect to a Bluetooth speaker to play/ hear those. But so far, my whole family has been enjoying this device.

I purchased the green, 64g with premium pen and leather case. The case works as a stand and is magnetic. The kindle allows for annotations l, notes on the pages, highlights and underlining. It can create flashcards and definitions for words to increase your vocab. I have become more articulate and knowledgeable since this purchase. I also enjoy the dark mode where you can read in complete darkness! The screen is nice and big which is easy on the eyes. I can't live without it now. O love emailing the annotations and printing out my notes which also shows the page number where the annotations were made..no more rummaging through pagesntrying to locaten your highlights. title: Love scribble feature, unbelievable battery life
detailedReviews 12: content: I have been looking for a digital tablet to replace paper and pen. I tried the Remarkable but found it cumbersome and awkward. Extending the functionality of the Kindle to provide a dedicated note taking feature.
I look forward to enhancements to this feature. Key features that would enhance this product include:
1. Organization and filing structure
2. Editing notes
3. Color
4. Conversion to type.
5. Export to other applications
The book and pdf notation features are excellent. It is a huge enhancement and for students it draws into question why anyone would buy a paper textbook.
If the future this will be an invaluable tool for literature reviews.
As long as Amazon is committed to this product it has a super bright future.
The pencil comes with the Kindle Scribe. It is pretty natural. After two weeks my handwriting is pretty similar to with regular paper and pen.
The bar on the side provides a place to hold the tablet comfortably in any position. The only complaint is accessing Home screen is a bit cumbersome.
The setup is super intuitive even auto connection to wifi if you have other Amazon products or application on the same wifi. My entire library automatically loaded.

One of the main reasons for getting the scribe was that it offers distracting free reading, as an iPad would certainly distract me! Being able to doodle or take notes is such a fantastic addition to my reading experience and I'm sure will come in handy for the students in my household. One of the most outstanding features was the ability to immediately download a book for the "nonreader" in my household before she lost interest in reading it. title: Natural writing and reading experience, beautiful screen
detailedReviews 47: content: I hesitated buying this for a long time, and I am glad I waited for the second generation. There are multiple upgrades to the newer version. Strictly as a writing tablet, there may be better choices, but for a long-time Kindle user (I have owned the Paperwhite, Voyage, and Oasis), the Scribe was the best upgrade I could have asked for. I should note that the 64 GB version is quite expensive. I got it because it looks beautiful (honestly) and I got an excellent price on Prime Day, and big discounts for trading in two old devices. Still, I can't imagine any situation where I would need anything close to this much storage - I mean most of my stuff is in the cloud and how many thousands of books do you need on the device itself? As for the device, it is very solid-looking, and just feels nice. The screen resolution in the best of any Kindle I have seen, and I love reading on it. It has all the features we have come to expect (fonts, lighting, etc.) plus some new ones. Book annotating is a bit limited, but again for a regular user, it is just fine. I enjoy highlighting passages and attaching notes to them for later reference. You can also view all of your annotations on Amazon's website. So if you are working on a laptop or somewhere without your Kindle, your are still good. If you are someone who likes to review books, like on Goodreads for example, this should work out well. For journaling and other writing purposes, the notebooks are good also. The writing is very smooth and realistic, with a lot of options in terms of pens, pencils, erasers and such. I love the AI feature that refines my handwriting, which is pretty sloppy normally. A bit slow at times, but as long as your writing is reasonably legible, you can expect an excellent result from the refining process. So my notebooks are neatly written and organized. The only thing I don't like is that the AI tools are still a little clunky when it comes to refining multi-page handwritten notes. Right now, there does not seem to be a built-in way to automatically combine content from two or more handwritten pages into one unified, refined note that fits in a single space. So I have to fiddle around a fair amount to make my journal entries look the way I like, and there was a bit of a learning curve in doing so. So what - I still love the Scribe and the easy decision buying it turned out to be.

detailedReviews 49: content: OH. MY. GOD. 🤩🥳
I have found the holy grail of e-reading. I upgraded by trading in my 10th gen paperwhite. When I received this bad boy (named $crim the Scribe lol), setup was a breeze bc I linked my amazon account to the purchase. I've had it for a week now and it's life changing in the best way 😍 **yes I'm aware you can see my folders & titles of my notebooks, idc lol**
I have wanted to journal my whole life but never could stick with the hobby. I have been a journaling FIEND with this piece of technology. I've already made 13 notebooks, with all different kinds of layouts. The planner layout, checklist layout, & a regular notebook paper layout. I have 3 different journals and checklists out the WAZOO. I love writing on it, and I think my handwriting is so much prettier on it vs on actual paper 💀 I don't have any issues with the premium pen, but this is the first time I've used a pen like this lol. The eraser on the end is a little loose, but not to the point that it bothers me.
The Kindle itself is super high quality **remember this review is coming from a previous 2018 paperwhite owner lol** It's not as durable as my paperwhite was that's for sure. I love that the button to wake it up is on the side because I put my thumb under the bottom sometimes to hold it while I'm reading. The screen is HUGE and my blind self loves that 🤣 I didn't realize the pen is magnetic and sticks to the side, I was like a cavewoman discovering fire when I found that feature lmaooo.
Response time is lightyears faster than my paperwhite, and having 64GB of memory is a dream compared to the 8GB I had. The battery life is impressive, I have mine set to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity. I don't let my devices get too low on charge so I don't know how many days it lasts with a LOT of writing in notebooks & reading. You're able to send documents to your kindle as well, and then write on them! It's super easy too. One of my notes from my iPhone took a while to transfer, but it still did it so no complaints here! You can customize a little more with this than on the paperwhite.
The jade color is BEAUTIFUL, plus my constellation case is so CUTE & perfect for an astrology girlie like me 😍 It works like a dream with smooth & swift transitioning. It's condensed my planner, journal, & e-reader to ONE physical item. I won't have to spend money on yearly journals or continuously buy new journals saying "I'll start journaling now, this is the one." Of course manufacturing the item creates waste, but I like to think I'm helping the environment a little bit by not buying those physical items anymore 🌏
✨I know the price is pricey (at least to me it is lmfao), but if you love reading, love to journal or want to get into the habit of journaling, BUY A KINDLE SCRIBE!!!!!! This was a purchase I know was worth it as soon as I got to play around with it ✨

detailedReviews 50: content: They've really improved the Etch A Sketch. I was looking for a new Etch A Sketch and ran across this thing, and I'm glad I spent a little extra and bought this. This one it comes with a stylist and you don't use 2 knobs. And to erase you can flip over the stylist and the back acts as an eraser. You don't flip the screen over and shake it.
Seriously they've captured the visual and tactile aspects of writing with a pen well. I actually have a reason to know cursive again. I actually forgot cursive when I first started using it and had to refresh myself for 30 minutes or so. I feel less retarded now after using for a while. I don't know if I am less retarded but I feel less retarded writing with a stylus. There is no spell check when you write on the tablet. So as long as I don't look in a dictionary, I feel less retarded. You feel more human writing using it rather than punching letters on a keyboard. Really good product for active reading, studying, and taking notes in comparison to only being able to read things on a computer.

title: Captures writing aspects well, feels human
detailedReviews 51: content: I've been using the Scribe for almost a week now and though I'm still getting used to it, I'm definitely enjoying it as a notebook. The feel of writing on it is definitely closest to that of writing on physical paper. The writing precision is great, capturing my handwriting very closely. I bought this Scribe merely due to it's price point compared to the reMarkable Pro, but I am eagerly awaiting for Amazon's next Scribe version.
So why didn't it get a 5 - the following are areas that can be improved
- Color: I am hopeful that Amazon will come out with a color version, competing with the reMarkable Pro. Being able to write/mark in color is purely a preference, I just could not justify the price of the reMarkable Pro and I didn't mind a larger sized e-reader.
- More meeting/business templates - the Scribe is a great digital notebook with a good amount of available templates. If there I could add a few more (even just one more), I would love a template to capture meeting notes, some even call it an Agenda template where you have a dedicated place to write a date, maybe even capture to dos from the meeting and then the section to capture notes. I would also like to see a template that can capture a full year's view.
- Size - I can see why the current size is great, especially as an e-reader, but I would love a smaller sized option so the Scribe can easily fit into any small bag. This is also a preference things as I prefer my notebooks to be on the smaller side, like the size of an iPad mini.
- Notebook functionality - I love the ability to move pages within a notebook or move notebooks between folders. There is no option to move a page from one notebook to another. I think this is a miss.
- Speed - Maybe this is an e-ink think, I would need to get my hands on a reMarkable to compare, but sometimes the speed of creating new pages or pulling up pages is half a second too long for me. But I can get over this, as I have before.
Overall, since I am familiar with e-ink devices, readers and tablets, I knew what I was getting in to when I purchased the Amazon Scribe and I am not disappointed. Had I paid full price, I might (I got this during the Mother's Day promotion).
The list of improvements might seem like a lot, given a 4-star rating, but there's more usefulness for me than there is room for improvements. I like being able to have one thing that can hold all my "notebooks". I like being able to organize the different notebooks. I particularly like the feature that scans my notes and turns it into a separate page that is typed out (my handwriting is horrible). If Amazon makes a color version of the Scribe, I'd likely buy it.

title: Great digital notebook, awaiting color version
detailedReviews 52: content: This device is probably one of the most game-changing things available for people who read books and love writing notes in the margins.
With the Scribe, you can take notes anywhere on a page using your own handwriting, and it will paste it into that position of the text like it's a Sticky-Note.
The technology works well, but it takes a while to figure out how to position your writing so you can place the note in the exact location you want. Otherwise you're stuck writing a note and having it appear slightly away from where you wanted to place it.
As for the stylus/pen, it's great. The premium pen and Scribe provide a wonderful almost paper-like feel to one's writing. And the eraser is even better than a real eraser.
Before this model and software update appeared, I was stuck making notes in my Kindle books by typing them out on the keyboard, and then the moment I finished, the note would disappear and be replaced by a tiny superscript icon. It kind of defeats the purpose of leaving a note. But that problem has been remedied with this new handwritten notes technology.
Also, the ability to underline is fantastic because I have a difficult time making straight lines, but the Scribe automatically takes my squiggly underlines and straightens them out.
There are a couple of improvements that would make this a 5-star device:
1) color screen (the monochrome screen doesn't allow you to take advantage of the 4 different highlighter colors that the Kindle app offers).
2) converting handwritten notes within a Kindle book into a cleaner font. The fact that this exists in the Notebooks section of the Kindle but not within the actual Kindle books is probably an oversight.

title: Great for active reading, studying, note-taking
detailedReviews 53: content: I added a few disadvantages just in case they are a deal breaker for someone, but in general I'm loving this device. Reading technical and fiction books on it is a true delight, anywhere, either in the bed or in the train or in the sofa. Using it in a stand is also quite comfortable. I own also an iPad pro and an Apple Pencil 2 and for me the Kindle Scribe is both better for handwriting and for reading. Less strain in the eyes and lighter.
The only thing I found a bit annoying was the lack of proper rotation detection (sometimes you need to rotate it a bit so it gets the correct orientation, hopefully this will be improved via firmware upgrades in the future.).
Please note that if you want to use it on the go, with this size, you will definitely need a cover, so get one just when buying it so can enjoy it from moment 0. Another thing to take into consideration if you are buying it with the idea of doing a lot of scribbling and underlining over the text with the pen is... this is not possible with the current firmware. Only marker-like highlighting, or adding notes in a pop-up where then you can hand-write. It also includes a goodnotes-like app where you can have several independent hand written notebooks (I guess somehow it's also possible to connect a bluetooth or usb-c keyboard, but I would use my iPad for that instead).
I also wanted to add that the standard pen , imho, is good enough. Not sure if paying for the premium version is really worth.

1. Light weight and beautiful design. Pennwrites fluid and better than some ink pens.
2. Feels like paper and easy to navigate and use.
3. Hold all your reading books on the kindle and make notes on them. You can enlarge the print - which makes a big difference if the book is published in very small print.
4. Notebooks are easily transcribed and sent to your email to edit onto a word document. This device is far superior to some of the devices I have tried already as there is no messing about with apps - a very easy process indeed. You can even draw on the blank pages.

I still have no complaints, it's perfectly fine for reading, but I wanted to try a device with a bigger screen. This Kindle blew me out of the water with the 10 inch screen. It's so amazing to see my books in a new way with so much more text and pictures fitting on one page, it makes it feel more book-like. There's a downside to this as it makes it harder to handle compared to my old small Kindle Paperwhite, but I'd take the bigger screen any day of the week. The writing is a very nice feature, I'm trying it out and it's great for making daily to-do lists and physically crossing the things that I've done. detailedReviews 67: content: I've been looking at the scribe for a while, trying to justify the high price, but when I saw the price QVC were asking I took the plunge. I love it. The screen size is great, the fact I can make notes with the included pen and of course now I don't have to carry around loads of books. I use it at home and will definitely take it on holiday too. The only thing that I'd have liked included is a case - it certainly needs one to protect it. Other than that, I'm really happy.

I love anything Kindle-related. It is like the iPhone of all e-readers. It is so easy to sync once you get it, and it’s as if you’ve had it for a long time. The Kindle Scribe improves on the experience I had on my PaperWhite. Now I can write sticky notes for my fantasy characters in my books and make annotations for pdf files. In my opinion, the Scribe works so much better than an iPad because it focuses on two things only - reading and scribing. No distractions. Love it so much!
The seller was also very helpful and got me the Kindle in no time at all. Thank you very much! Definitely recommended!

detailedReviews 72: content: I have had a kindle for several years. But nothing like this one. I must say I am so impressed. Not only can I read but this screen is massive to me. It's a 10.2 and I can adjust the color as I see fit. I can also set the kindle to automatically go to a warm light for reading at nite before bed.Which is great because it's not to harsh on your eyes before trying to go to sleep.
I was abke to download all my books from my old kindle to this new one. It's very easy .
I have access to many many books from the kindle store.
This is so special because I am able to make hand written notes.
Also to import and mark up pdf files.
There is still a lot that I have to learn about what all I can and will be able to do. But I am so excited to learn.
Comes with a long battery life as well.
The pen is a cool feature that allows writing and erasing and attaches and stays on the side of the kindle by a magnet. I can charge my kindle when I need to with the USB C charging cable that comes in the box.
I almost forgot also has five new pen tips for when it's time to replace them.
All and all I am thrilled with this product.

The writing feels natural snd the 64GB storage would last forever. So glad I purchased the last 64GB model of which only a few exist on NZ soil. So looking forward to Amazon’s certain future three-monthly updates (of which the first commenced in February 2023) with even more functionalities, which is sure to compete with other E-ink devices in the very near future. Thanks for shipping this out so quick, Mightyape. I am sure to enjoy meeting note-taking and lesson planning as a Primary educator in the near future with my new tech.

I have downloaded a few books already and spent some time reading. I created a notebook. There are several simple layouts you can choose from. I created a calendar which will be quite helpful. The included basic pen allows you to write as simply and easily as you would on paper. You can create sticky notes inside books you are reading. It is a 10.2" 300 ppi glare- free Paperwhite display. There are millions of titles in the Kindle Store. The Scribe uses A USB-C charging cord. In the settings, you can select your display brightness and warmness that makes reading comfortable for you. The pen magnetically connects to the different of the scribe.

detailedReviews 106: content: Beware: I probably have dyslexic traits, which makes reading in large fonts, with screen in landscape mode and OpenDyslexic an amazing upgrade of the SCRIBE to previous Kindles I owned with a smaller screen.
Happens that I also use a reMarkable for handwriting at work and in daily life. PLEASE, absolutely NO comparison possible between writing with SCRIBE and reMarkable. reMarkable designed for writing experience, no backlight to further improve this writing experience. Feels completely different on the Kindle. Writing notes with Kindle SCRIBE feels messy, vague, almost anecdotical to me compared with reMarkable. I might change my mind. For now, I continue to highlight passages and type in notes as I did with other Kindle without a Pen when reading with my Kindle.
For PDF: I read a large PDF with many images of a book which was only available in PDF. Experience strange if not frustrating. You sometimes have to wait up to a minute until page with image loads. Understandable, Kindle not designed for PDF, but not what I expected for a device in this price range.

I really hoped it would be able to at least let you write in color, but it doesn't even let you do that, other than it missing a lot of writing features and not having any color it is pretty good, although I would have much rather spent 200 dollars on one of the other e-readers then spending 500 on this one that doesn't even have color.
