items 3: content: My Nokia 1020 is wonderful, so I am even trying to get CEX to find me another one as good. With the 808PV Nokia it is still better than all current smartphones for its camera due to the much larger sensor it uses on its fixed 26mm (35mm equivalent) f2.2 Zeiss image-stabilized lens. It works really very smoothly in Windows 8.1, and is in fact faster in use than many reviews claim. You get a 4x lossless, 5MP zoom for video, 5 Megapixel small jpegs in Lumia Camera, and the option to have either 34MP widescreen or 38MP 4:3 RAW and jpeg image files. The 5Megapixel jpegs are easily the best 5 megapixel jpegs I have ever seen from any machine, downsized as they are from the 1020s huge 41MP RAW image sensor. They are extremely detailed but are noise-free and not oversharpened at all. The RAW files being dng files open in almost all current raw softwares: In good light its like having a Nikon DSLR in your pocket. It is also capable of very good close-ups. It cannot go as close as say a G4 LG can, but the results on the big sensor are very much larger as it produces images almost three times the area of a 16 MP sensor, with very good fine detail when the original is well-exposed. Of course you gain total control over white balance, shutter speed, exposure compensation and film speed (ISO). The video is of uTubeable HD quality- very good, and the radio is excellent as well meaning you have it there for you at all times, anywhere on Earth that you travel, like the Satnav and the Maps, or had you forgoptten?
For a lot of people the main thing is the Windows OS too, because it is secure, requires no anti-virus, and attaches immediately in-house to any Windows PC : you dont even need any software to transfer files between them, as the drivers install automatically the first time you plug it in. You have installed a complete updateable Office Suite on the phone, and there is no lack of apps and games in fact- you could certainly never fit their software onto the phones storage drive. It is fast and responsive in use and nice to hold with its curved edges on the sides, but the pretty headphones are dreadful, and you need the handstrap or one of your own as that way your camera's lens will be safely attached to your wrist and you wont drop it.
At least one can be fitted- more than can be said for the current crop of similar flagship quality smartphones. So, I am looking to get CEX to sell me another perfect one when they can, because they just do not make machines as good as this anymore.

items 4: content: Without a doubt, there are lots of choices for smartphones out there, form factor, OS/ecosystem, screen size, processor, price, etc. And all of your personal choices will dictate what you would end up picking. Before the Nokia Lumia 1020, if your main phone deciding factor is the ultimate camera performance (with Xenon flash!), you would have had to compromise by getting something like the Nokia 808 or N8 on Symbian. And having used the Symbian OS, that is one big compromise. Another option would be the Samsung Galaxy K/Zoom, which would of course mean when you're on a call, you have a camera to your face. With the 1020, you have a modern day OS with enough app selection (and bound to grow, especially with the announcement of Windows 10), a slim form factor, and all around capable hardware as well. As for the camera, it's really as good as you read about. It's actually better than you read about if you shoot RAW. I'm always amazed at the quality of the RAW files and I'm used to looking at RAWs from cameras like the Canon 5D2 and 1Ds2. The down side is that the camera isn't fast (3-4 second shot to shot time for some settings) and it's about time for a new replacement to come out (hopefully soon). But at the moment, this is a clear choice if you want more than excellent photo shooting capability and still be able to use it like a smartphone. P.s. lots of camera phones coming out and starting to pick up the slack though so keep a lookout for the Sony Z1/Z2, Panasonic CM1, Nokia 1520/930/Icon

I bought the Lumia 1020 because of it's 41MP Camera. The 1020 camera has twice as many pixels as its nearest competitors. Three times as many if you want optical image stabilization. And the sensor is four times as big as most smartphone sensors and more than twice as big as the second-biggest sensor.
The Lumia Camera App also offers controls over the camera which no other smartphone does, essentially making it a DSLR which can fit in your pocket.
This will be the best camera on a smart-phone for the foreseeable future, and I've been offered to upgrade three times, however the lumia 1020, has always proven superior.

En in deze winterperiode hoef je je handschoenen niet meer uit te doen om je smartphone te gebruiken. Het scherm van de Nokia Lumia is zo gevoelig dat je handschoenen kunt gebruiken! Ten tweede heeft het 41 megapixels !! Ja 41! Ongehoord voor een telefoon! Dit is een record dat Nokia daar aan het doen is! Ten derde, Windows Phone is heel gemakkelijk te gebruiken en is vooral erg snel! Ten vierde hebben we met deze smartphone een complete en GRATIS GPS. Wie zei dat je een echte GPS moet kopen?) Dit is een groot hoogtepunt voor deze telefoon! Maar helaas heeft deze telefoon ondanks al zijn sterke punten twee kleine zwakke punten. Met Windows Phone weten we niet of ines toepassingen. Bovendien is het interne geheugen, in vergelijking met eerdere Lumia, niet enorm! Slechts 2 GB. Jammer .. Tot slot zou ik zeggen dat deze telefoon nog steeds erg goed is, vooral dankzij de camera, het scherm, de GPS .. Maar helaas is niets perfect. Intern geheugen is onvoldoende.

Premièrement, son écran de 4.5" est assez grand et il est donc facile d'utiliser l'écran tactile qui est notamment très sensible. Pour certains, cela serait un inconvénient mais pour d'autre, un avantage. En effet, plus besoin d'appuyer 36000 fois sur son écran pour arriver à avoir ce que l'on désire. Et en cette période d'hiver, plus besoin de retirer nos gants pour utiliser notre smartphone. L'écran du Nokia Lumia est tellement sensible que l'on peut utiliser des gants !
Deuxièmement, il est doté de 41 mégapixels !! Oui 41 ! Du jamais vu pour un téléphone ! C'est un record que Nokia fait là !
Troisièmement, Windows phone est très facile à utiliser, et est surtout très rapide !
Quatrièmement, nous disposons avec ce smartphone, d'un GPS complet et GRATUIT. Qui a dit qu'il fallait acheter un vrai GPS ? ) C'est un gros point fort pour ce téléphone !
Mais malheureusement, malgré tous ses attouts, ce téléphone a deux petits points faibles. Avec Windows Phone, nous ne savons pas avoir certaines applications. De plus, comparé aux Lumia précédents, la mémoire interne n'est pas énorme ! Seulement 2GB. Dommage..
Pour conclure, je dirais que ce téléphone est quand même très bien notamment grâce à l'appareil photo caméra, à son écran, à son GPS.. Mais rien n'est parfait malheureusement. La mémoire interne est insuffisante.

It all goes back to 2012 when the pureview 808 was launched...the fact that it ran on the so called outdated symbian platform that piece didnt take up well...but the 1020 is an amazing combo of the 41 mps. of the 808 and the benchmark low light photography and the OIS of the predecessor 920...seems like nokia's endeavour is showing fruit now;)...anyways...the device is an excellent masterpiece of hardware and optics.
#has six carl zeiss lenses for the perfect photography unlike the five of 80...

The 41 mega-pixel camera is really amazing, especially with the Nokia Pro Cam app that is built-in to the phone. Takes really clear & crisp pictures. You may also adjust settings before taking pictures, settings like the ISO, zoom focus, shutter speed & contrast of lighting. I don't really know how to use these settings, but learning how to use them is fun. If you're into taking some cool or artsy pictures than this phone is something you should really consider. There are some websites that just show photos people have taken with this phone. Battery life....is I guess like any other smart phone, it gets used up quick when using apps or going on the Internet.
