I have read on some sony forums thats this is a common issue with certain batches of this camera. I was wondering if this issue is covered under the warranty? I was trying to get in touch with the sony customer service but noone seems to address this issue. The camera is sparingly used. I would be really glad if someone form Sony would get in touch. Other than this issue, this camera just blows the competition out of the water!

snippets: in 4k mode the A7 S3 can record 4K video at 24 30 60 all the way to 120 frames per second and usually most cameras when recording 4K in super slow motion they have to crop into their sensor or somehow degrade the video quality but with the A7 S3 you get gorgeous 4K video in every single frame rate, on top of that the A7 S3 has no record limit and you can record either to SD cards which are much cheaper or CF Express card for the super high and slow motion, now future River here and let's talk about the new A7 S3 update it now supports 4K DCI at true 24p 4K DCI is slightly wider on the sides compared to regular 4K and it gives you a slightly more cinematic feel of view and looks more like a cinema camera, now I have to address the elephant in the room and that is the 12 megapixel sensor A lot of people will tell you the 12 megapixel sensor is not good for photos and while I partially agree I mainly disagree here's why 12 megapixels may not be enough for someone that's a high-end fashion photographer or a wildlife or Sports photographer that often needs to zoom in and crop into their image if you're going to be cropping in a lot I get it probably not the camera for you but where I do disagree is that the A7 S3 still has a really good look sensor High dynamic range you get 14bit raw and you can still edit the heck out of these photos and get really good results and just because it's 12 megapixels doesn't mean you're not going to get super sharp and crisp photos

snippets: it does have a pretty nice feel to it so i think it's magnetic or i know there's a little clip here that it clips in and the hinge does feel a little weak though doesn't give me a lot of confidence in the hinge there but hopefully that's done well this is sony's first flip out screen and i don't know hopefully they got that part right, so yeah it looks like it powers on it works so that's good and even with the battery just by itself like this it's not very heavy and that's quite impressive for how feature packed this thing is so i'm actually quite happy with the size because i was thinking that it was going to be much heavier and larger than this, now one thing that is not so great believe it or not is the flippy screen now that it you know can't flip or whatever it obviously flips just fine and closes but the part that i don't like about it i didn't realize this right away is that let's see if i can show you guys if you flip it out it doesn't flip out completely if you can maybe see this it kind of doesn't come out all the way so it's almost kind of a little bit close like this and so whenever you're filming you're always on an angle and so you can't never really get that flat look so i don't know if you guys can see that but you can see how much it tilts down here so yeah that part i do not like and it's actually quite annoying and i do have to close it if i want to line up my shot you know really straight it's not as helpful as i thought it would be or at least for lining up the shot but you know if you're filming like this it's just fine looking down at it but yeah just having it out like this seems to give me issues but maybe just my case but yeah that's one of the things that i found not so great about the screen here but the hinge has been fine and it feels pretty good and feels solid

snippets: so at the end of the day you're looking at a thousand dollar difference between these two cameras that one thousand dollars is going to buy you more frame rates raw over hdmi no crop at 4k 60 better rolling shutter performance better evf and display and a wider iso range but it's not going to have the image detail that the a74 has with its ridiculous 7k over sampling, if those things are worth a thousand dollars to you pick up the a7s 3, if those aren't worth it to you or you don't have that thousand dollars the a74 is an incredible camera
