detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: I upgraded my previous M4 and M5 mesh network with this X20 for a higher bandwidth and strong connection to my garden office.
They look great, perform excellently and just work, without problems, ever.
The best thing about the X20 is that I don't seem to get a loss of bandwidth as they filter through each other like older versions. I have a setup with the main Deco at the front ground floor of the house, the second connected to the main in the back bedroom on the 1st floor. The third is connected to the second and in the garden office about 15 meters from the house. The bandwidth is consistent regardless of which deco I'm connected to and if you've not had a mesh before there is no reconnecting through the house and garden like with WiFi extenders.
Go mesh and you will never buy WiFi extenders again, Deco mech is vastly superior with its tri-connection.
The app is good and easy to use from parental controls (not used them) to firmware and software upgrades. It tells you what the devices are and which Deco they are connected to, plus loads of other features like optimisation.

detailedReviews 2: content: I'm an IT geek / software developer for a living. I know all about how this stuff works and I wanted fast, but I didn't need crazy expensive for my home and some of these mesh systems are way overpriced IMHO. Reality is you can have all the latest crazy standards but once you get 20ft from the access point all bets are off and you'll never see the speeds you see quoted so you need to mix practical with price. There seem to be sooo many mesh system options these days, that I was overwhelmed, but after some consideration I thought I would just go for this one which seemed reasonably priced, but still offered most of the latest standards (and thus speed limits) and also had free returns! In this case this config with 2 slave units was great for my ~4500 sq ft house, my previous single access point left some dead spots (like my Ring outside the house) just outside the range. But with this setup I can blanket the house and get pretty good speeds (>100-200Mb throughput) just about everywhere, and faster (400+ when you are reasonably close / line of sight to the access point)It's important to remember when thinking about laying these out in your house what and where you need the speed. If you need speed inside your house (say you are always streaming movies from a pc to another device) or if you need speed from a device to the internet. The slave access points can only provide as much throughput back to the main access point (which is probably directly plugged into your router/internet) as good as their own wireless connection is to EACH OTHER. eg: if you put the slave access points 50ft away they might "only" be able to get like 20Mb back to the internet, as your devices is going from device -> slave access point ->* main access point (next to your router/internet) and the * connection is the weak link. What was the killer feature for me on these is you can actually use ethernet as a backbone for the slave access points. My house is pre-wired with ethernet so I was able to put the slave access points pretty far but every slave is hardwired back to the main access point and thus has 100% of the throughput back to the internet so no matter which access point you connect to in the house each access point is as fast as the main one so the access point to access point speed drop is a non-issue if you can set it up like this. DO THIS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! It's like having 3 "full speed" access points strategically dropped through your house. It wasn't obvious I could do this from the (very basic) docs for setup that came with it, but a quick search through the online docs showed you could this and it's brain dead, just plug your home network into the port on the back. Extra bonus feature, you can use the 2nd port on the back as a local hardwired port so if you have a single PC or "device" (like an xbox or something) next to the access point you can still plug it in directly and get full hard-wired speed without needing to buy an extra switch in the middle. Note: If you don't use the 1st port for the backbone, then you get 2 ports for local devices that will get at least Access Point -> Access Point speeds without one more wifi hop needed.I was pretty impressed with the iPhone app that you use to manage the setup, gone are the days of a webbrowser hitting a super slow admin page, the app is snappy and you can tweak all kinds of stuff. (favorite feature: One of the access points ended up in a kids room and they complained about the LED at night, guess what, turns out there's a "night mode" where it turns off the LED's during a timewindow in the settings pages!)The "mesh" part works really good too, from the app you can see your device move from access point to access point and what devices are on which and stuff. Super handy for initial setup troubleshooting and geeking out over how it's all working.I will admit, I was a little nervous since TP-Link is sort of a more bargain brand in my head, but I've had it going for about 8 weeks now in my house and it's been basically flawless. I'm sold, I'd TOTALLY buy this again or recommend it to a friend (or anyone reading this)!

detailedReviews 3: content: Purchased as I am a sky customer and the router is rubbish for WiFi around the house, I also have Blink outdoor cameras and the one at the bottom of the garden picks up nothing due to no WiFi coverage.
After purchasing this 3 pack of Deco X20 I now have full WiFi around the house and 5 bar strength at the bottom of the garden where one of the blink cameras is located.
Unlike other companies routers, you need to keep the Sky router, go into the routers settings and turn off 2.4gh and 5gh WiFi, connect your first deco to the Sky router hub via the supplied cable and your good to go.
Full strength WiFi everywhere.
You will get a call from Sky after a day or 2 asking if you are having problems with your WiFi, I just told them I had disabled it in order to use my Deco X20 and all was fine.
Best purchase I have made all year.

detailedReviews 4: content: The TP Link mesh router system is something that I was look for to improve the WiFi throughout my home. I live in a two story 3000 square for hoot and my wifi signal was having issues reaching the further parts of the home. I ran a few speed tests and I noticed that the wifi signal was weaker and was about half of the speed when I was in the room with our wifi router. When looking for ways to improve it I found that setting up a mesh system would be the best option. This TP Link mesh system comes with 3 AX1800 routers that all link together to strengthen your wifi system throughout the home. It has an option of 2.4 or 5.0 gigahertz. It also supports speeds up to 1.8 gigabytes per second. Setting up the mesh system is easy, the instructions are clear and there is an app to help you out. Setting it up took about 10 minutes and when I tested the speeds in the rooms again I found that I was getting consistent speeds in every room of the house. Overall this is a great system that will improve your overall wifi strength and give you seamless connectivity if you have a larger home.

title: Improved WiFi strength, seamless connectivity for large homes
detailedReviews 5: content: This is an excellent Mesh network device. I am very happy with its coverage and performance. Here's my detail analysis on the Deco Mesh router system
Design: the Deco design is modern. I really liked its design and look. It is made of good quality and not a cheap plastic. The back side of Deco has power input and network cable inputs. It is light weight and gives a modern look. It can be kept anywhere and gives an artistic look. I liked that it is not a traditional router looking tower with sparking lights. I have kept it in living room and it makes a good living room decor item.
Setup: setup was extremely easy and took couple of minutes. During the setup, it will also update the router firmware. The firmware update is automatic, it just needed permission on the app. Once approved, the software is automatically downloaded, pushed to the hardware and installed.
App: the app is user friendly and designed so well that any first time user can use it without any guidance on app usage. The app provides several features including the usage reports. I now get weekly and monthly usage of my network. The app also shows the devices that are connected to the network. It offers internet speed test. Some of the security features that are offered via the app are paid or requires subscription. But parental control is free and out of the box feature. Creating parental control profile via app is super easy and it can be assigned to specific device. The app also allow to create guest network.
Performance: The main and most import aspect of a mesh network. I have kept each Deco on each floor and followed a zig-zag pattern when placing it. I am very happy with the coverage that I am getting. I have a 3000 sq ft house and the mesh network provides me full network coverage. I have been using it for a month and so far I have not seen network drop even once. In terms of performance, it is excellent. I have compared it to the performance of the router that the ISP has provided me and the Deco beats the ISP router any day. The router also supports WIFi6 band for faster data transfer.

detailedReviews 6: content: Having three kids in virtual pandemic learning, the demand for a strong WiFi signal was critical. I researched several different solutions and learned that a mesh system with future WiFi 6 support was the best route to go.I needed to solve two issues: 1) strong WiFi in our two level house and 2) ability to connect wired devices. The DECO X20 solved both of these issues and provided an easy interface to manage all the devices. With the older single Linksys router, we were only able to pull down about 20 - 30 Mbps on the second level of the house or in rooms really far from the router. With this new 3 mesh radio system, we can get over 200 Mbps when we are close to a unit (10 to 15 feet away and we get 250 Mpbs service from our ISP) and over 125 Mbps upstairs (15 - 35 feet way and through a ceiling). The price point between the X20 and X60 was an important factor. While the X60 has a tri-band radio and could pull down a faster signal, it only had 2 units and was more expensive. It was more important to get the strongest signal most disbursed through the house at a reasonable cost. Also, I knew I could have at least two units connected via ethernet, so the wireless performance would not be degraded (that much) for the throughput wireless signal back from the unit without an ethernet cable. The router administration is easy to use and relatively straightforward. The system requires a download of a proprietary app that must have an internet connection to set up the username and password. The app has a few non-subscription firewall benefits like whole network antivirus, intrusion prevention, and infected device quarantine (like we don't have enough of that in 2020). There are parental controls, Quality of Service settings and for those with advanced router skills, a typical advanced settings area. There is also a monthly report that gives you device connections and security recommendations. On the whole, since I upgraded the system about three weeks ago, no one has complained about getting online or connection issues for school or work. The system seems to perform well and has consistently provided strong download and upload testing scores. I would recommend this mesh router system to anyone who needs something at a decent price.

title: Solved virtual learning WiFi demand, easy interface
detailedReviews 7: content: I have a fiber connection to my network service provider which has been rock-solid and trouble-free. I also have wired ethernet throughout my home. The wired ethernet is great, but my network has grown to be rather complex. I live in a congested urban enviroment where there seems to be an arms race for airspace and I have a lot of IOT/'smart'/HomeKit devices in my house. There are dead spots in my home and the reliability of my HomeKit devices has suffered.
I could have simply used the Deco as my wireless access point, but I decided to go all in and replace my Archer A9 completely. I realized I was in for a major hassle reprogramming all my smart devices, but I would take the opportunity to upgrade the security of my network. I chose the X20 because I can use my ethernet network to handle the backhaul traffic.
HomeKit devices use 2.4Ghz exclusively due to its range. There are copious videos that encourage you to set up a separate 2.4Ghz network for these devices (which causes its own problems) or jump through other hoops, or even those that say that HomeKit devices don't work well on a mesh network. I can report that the default setup of the Decos which use a joint 2.4/5Ghz setting works just fine.
Even without the mesh, I noticed the signal strength of the Deco X20 outperformed my A9 by a large margin. I'm really happy. All my devices work flawlessly and there are no more dead spots.
As expected, I did have to manually reprogram/add all my HomeKit devices. Some I didn't have to do anything (those that supported Thread like the Wemo Stage Controller and HomePods), most I had to reprogram (which is fine), but some were really, really belligerent, most specifically the Wemo light switch (v2). I had been led to believe this was because of the mixed 2.4/5Ghz network or other voodoo, but in the end, this wasn't the case at all. All the light switches had to be factory reset before they could be reprogrammed and finding out how to do this was not described in the app, or the documentation. This can only be done by connecting directly to the lightswitch itself as a wifi router, like, you go to network settings, connect to the light switch and relaunch the app which puts it in a totally different (non HomeKit) mode so you can program the light switch. The reason I'm mentioning this is hopefully someone else can learn from my struggles and not blame the router.
Anyway, really happy. Hopefully this will serve my family for a few years.

detailedReviews 8: content: I was using a different mesh system with 4 satellite extenders throughout the house. I set up this TP-Link system with the 2 extenders to have a unit on each floor of the house to provide the best coverage in our 3800 sq ft home. Up/download speeds were the same which I expected. The signal off each extender was "very good" which was the same as my 4 unit set up . I tested the wi-fi coverage from the edge of my backyard and I was getting full bars on my phone roughly 75' from the system. Very impressive!! Setting up the app and Mesh Router System was super easy and took me less than 20 minutes to get everything working. The app is very easy to navigate and the system looks nice. Very good Wi-Fi mesh system!

detailedReviews 9: content: The setup of the Deco X20 Whole Home Wi-Fi system (2pack) was super simple. Once the Deco X20 was connected to our modem, it was just a matter of minutes to complete the setup following the instructions on the DECO app from iTunes stores. If you already have a Wi-Fi network at home, you will need to update your devices to connect to the new Wi-Fi network. This is simple step but depending on the number of devices, it can take a matter of minutes or a little bit longer. Once all my devices were connected to the new Wi-F- network, there was no lag with the Wi-Fi signal. The signal was strong and uninterrupted even in areas where I previously had weak signals within the house. The KP303 Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip (3 Outlet) is slimline with surge protection, individual control for each outlet and 2 USB ports. To connect the power strip to the network, you need to have the KASA app installed and follow the instructions on the app. Once installed, the devices connected to the outlet can be controlled via your smartphone. For example, set away timers. The KL130 Smart Wi-Fi Bub (Multicolour) is a great smart device that allows you to change the colour and brightness levels of the bulb. This lightbulb is good for mood lighting and task lighting. Great to control via Google Home! The KL60 Smart Wi-Fi Bulb (Warm Amber) is good for ambient lighting but not suitable for task lighting. The KP115 Smart Wi-Fi Plug w/energy monitoring is a slimline plug, an upgrade from the old model. This plug can monitor energy and be used to set up a schedule for the devices connected to it. All this smart devices can be controlled easily via your smartphone or via Google Home.

title: Super simple setup, strong uninterrupted signal everywhere
detailedReviews 10: content: It's was very simple to configure and setup. It is all using the app and it took 5 minutes to setup de main router.
About 2 minutes each to setup the satellite routers.
The main router speed is great.
I was a little disappointed with the Wi-Fi speed of the satellites when linked over Wi-Fi only.
The Internet speed dropped significantly. About 40% the speed of main router. I was expecting something closer to 70%~80% since I understand WiFi 6 is a full duplex bandwidth meaning it is capable of receiving and transmitting over wifi at the same time.
Granted, my main speed is Fiber 500Mb.
Thw satellites could handle 120-175. Possibly because it was using 2.4Ghz bandwidth rather than 5Ghz.
When I forced the signal to use the Ghz only, the speed went up to about 250Mb download.
The main router was doing 500 to 600.
So, I don't expect full speed when the satellites are linked via Wi-Fi. I was simply hoping for much more.
Keep in mind that 120-175Mb download is plenty for streaming and general computer work for at least 5 devices streaming at the same time.
The solution, if you can, connect the satellites using the ethernet backhaul connection. They'll work great.
If you still need wifi linking because you can't run ethernet over... I suggest you buy the tri-band version because those models use the 3rd band for focused linking connectivity between routers.
Overall, it was a great purchase for $150 but I can't give 5 stars knowing it's limitations and significant drop in speed if I connect the satellite routers using wifi only.

detailedReviews 11: content: Did a ton of research on a mesh wifi system. Just bought a 2,500 sqft house and leaving a 1,200 sqft condo. My Netgear Nighthawk more or less did the job in my small condo, but barely. I knew I was going to need to make some significant upgrades for my bigger house.Spent a few nights researching these mesh wifi systems and watching YouTube videos. TP Link in the past has always been very good quality and very reliable for me. Used many different TP Link products throughout the years. I was seconds away from buying the Amazon Eero but decided last minute to pass as the TP Link offered more for the price. Simply put, there isn't a better wifi mesh system for $250 that offers wifi 6 with this type of coverage.Setup is a breeze like most TP Link devices. The app is pretty good, though I have some suggestions to make it slightly more user friendly. That said, there are tons of features available that I likely wont ever even use. Bottom line, this system took my gigabit fiber internet and truly maximized it's potential. I have great wifi signal throughout my entire house and even a good distance outside my house. My Ring doorbell for instance has a 100% wifi connection with no issue. You can't beat the functionality for this price. If you're considering a mesh wifi system and don't want to spend $600+, buy this system and you'll be plenty satisfied. This will be enough for 95% of users.

detailedReviews 20: content: I installed the eero 6 but was disappointed with a) the speeds I was getting around the house, b) fluctuations in the speeds for no apparent reasons even when the speed coming out of the modem was stable. I liked the eero software. I decided to try the TP-Link Deco WIFI 6 which is about the equivalent in functionality and price. The Deco has one major advantage in that each of the units can have a direct Ethernet connection to devices. Not possible with the eero 6. Only the unit designated as the router had an ethernet port. But the big difference was the speeds. I am paying for 300 Mbps service from Xfinity. Both the eero and the Deco show speeds out of the modem well above the 300 level. Varying between 320 and 350. But that is where the similarity ends. With the eero I was getting Siri speeds between 60 and 150 Mbps. With the Deco I am getting a consistent 180 to 210. And my Mac Mini M1 is connected by Ethernet to one of the Decos (not possible with the eero) and I am consistently getting over 300 Mbps! That's about twice the speed I was getting from the eero.I liked the eero software a little bit more than the Deco. The Deco allows for a lot more advanced configuration, but right now I don't see a need. The eero interface seems a bit more intuitive. When it comes to the basics they both seem to cover the same turf.Deco comes with Home Shield free for life. Home Shield Pro is an $55 per year. I think the basic plan will be sufficient for my needs. The eero Secure plan is $30 per year. They have no free plan. They have a $99 subscription which adds an additional three tools. I already subscribe to 1Password and use the free version of Malwarebytes, but if I didn't, this bundle would be a good deal. But, the Deco system is so much faster, has the Ethernet ports, and comes with an adequate security systems build in for life. So for me, it was an easy decision. The eero 6 went back today.

I bought the deco X20 because I have a lot of IOT and home automation devices which I need to always be connected to Internet and this device works perfectly with such high device count as well. I have a 1Gbps internet connection and using ethernet backhaul my furthermost devices also gives about 650mbps dl/ul speeds on my oneplus 8 pro and about 920mbps dl/ul speeds on my wired Home Theater PC. Would surely recommend this.

It includes many features to make your network secure and also keep the family safe online. The wi-fi plug and powerboard are also both easy to set up using the Kasa app. Both provide settings for you to schedule your devices to turn on and off at a given time. You can also monitor electricity usage from both devices. The lightbulbs are also easy to set up using the Kasa app. Both types can be dimmed and turned on and off using the app or your Google or Amazon smart speaker. The Filament bulb only has one colour (warm) but different intensities give off different lighting effects. The regular smart bulb has a wide range of colour and dimming options. All these devices work really well together and will turn your regular home into a super smart home.

detailedReviews 24: content: Over the past few years I've tried various WIFI extenders to help provide full coverage in my home with very little success. In the end, I decided to start looking into mesh networks and the TP Link Deco X20 (3-pack) seemed to fit what I was looking for and at a good price.
Package arrived on time with the actual packaging from the manufacturers actually very impressive. Setup was easy and not having to worry about which deco to make the main one connected to the router was a nice added bonus. Think I had the first one set up within about 5 mins and then the subsequent deco's within minutes of each other. App is intuitive and easily lets you name your deco's, monitor what is connected to them and update the firmware as required.
Coverage is seamless with devices automatically connecting to the Deco with the strongest signal with no action required on your part. Each Deco also come with 2 ethernet ports enabling you to connect devices (I connected my TV) directly so as to not rely on WIFI.
All in all, a great product which has finally provided me with excellent WIFI coverage over the entire house. If you a struggling to get complete coverage I would highly recommend you give these a try and if, for some reason 3 Deco's are not enough, adding more could not be any simpler.

detailedReviews 26: content: As I descended into COVID-19 "lockdown" and working from home, video conferencing with Microsoft TEAMS became the new daily norm. My home wifi system was not ready for this change. I was paying for 100mps wifi and after several service calls, a technician demonstrated that the signal from my router was poor in many areas of my home. He also suggested that I consider a Wifi mesh system. After much research and consideration of features, I chose the TP-Link Deco X20 because of highly rated reviews, cost, and the fact that it is built on the new WiFi 6 standard. I know that most devices are not WiFi 6 compatible but with the rate of change in electronics, it made sense to purchase the latest and greatest. The Tp-Link X20 fixed the problem and more. It comes with built in internet security and I'm seeing maximum speed at all nodes. Microsoft TEAMS meetings are flawless and we are currently connected with no less than 9 devices full time. I highly recommend this product.

detailedReviews 27: content: I bought this system a couple of weeks ago to replace an old sysco router + extender that was giving me nothing but trouble. Not only did I have trouble getting good coverage with the old router + extender, it gave me bad speed. This system is very easy to set up and provides high speed (more than double the old router) and excellent coverage for my two-story 2500 sq foot house without switching wifi. I also note that my house is hard to get good wifi everywhere, as my wifi comes into the very back corner of my brick house. This 3-unit system gets solid wifi EVERYWHERE, even the yard and the far corners of the house. I also like the phone app that alerts me to what's connected and makes it easy to use. The only downside I've seen at all may not be the fault of the router. The system has disconnected from the internet a couple of times, but that could be a problem with the modem or service provider. Even so, all I had to do was reset the system (modem and main router) by turning the power strip off and on again and everything reconnected immediately. I did not have to reset each router, just the main one. The red/yellow/green lights on the units are very helpful. Overall I'm very satisfied.

Adding this Mesh system was so easy. My internet speed has increased overall with the use of this, and after just placing one unit at the other end of the house I had full speed Wifi everywhere in a two storey 5 bedroom home. I was able to then take advantage of an ethernet port with the third unit. The app is pretty handy and easy to use too. I'm still waiting for the redemption offer, but I am so happy with the Deco X20 that I had pretty much forgotten about that bonus.

I think it's a great product for the price, very affordable considering the performance and speeds you get. Wired backhaul (connection via Ethernet) very strong and wireless backhaul efficient, appearance is nice also. However, the delivery courier threw the box containing the units over my fence, and did not horn or even used the doorbell, the parcel was almost caught in rain, visible slight damage to the box inside the box. Nonetheless, the seller did a great job by package sufficient protective material such as polystyrene foam.

The reason for me was due to I already had the TP Link Deco mesh network and did not want it to have to create a new network. This one does work with OneNZ, it did take customer care a while to figure it out how to change the settings. It is just a setting on the TP link APP that you just need to change to NZ something. It works amazingly and does extend your current mesh network. Just need to change the setting to make the modem the main device.

detailedReviews 31: content: I have Gig service thru Spectrum. I wanted to get a mesh system since I want better speeds throughout the entire home. Our setup for internet is not the best since here in Florida the modem along with router had to be in the "Florida Room" since that's where the work from home office is. And with that being said there is cement block between that room and the inside of the home. This doesn't make it ideal for the wifi connections for the TVs and phones that all do streaming on. So I like this system because I no longer have to deal with the lower wifi signal and slower speeds throughout the home. I also like that the living room TV's streaming device (Nvidia Shield TV Pro) can now be ethernet connected to a mesh router for a more stable connection. I posted some of the speed results and I think it's doing a pretty decent job so far. It was very easy to set up from out of the box as well and the app is easy to use. I will be continuing to test this system out and will hopefully be able to return the router to spectrum.

detailedReviews 33: content: My 3 google puck setup died on me. One puck simply died, and resetting the other two was giving me 60 down and 10 up, previously would give me 300/300. So it was time for a new setup and I wanted a 3 pack, as I have an L shaped house so one area can be troublesome, and I really wanted ethernet ports out of each satellite. This fit that bill. I've had it installed for a few weeks now and we have had zero reboots/issues.The setup is piece of cake, just follow the instructions. The app is fine, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of options (which I don't mind).Speeds are just ok (I have gig fios). I'm getting about 280 max download and around 180 max upload. The worst I get is 150-180 down and 75-100 upload. But it's never below that, and since we're all very dependent on wifi right now due to the pandemic stability is more important to me than blazing speeds. All in all I'm happy. Speeds could obviously be better but what good is high speeds when you can't get signal in certain places in your home? I get signal everywhere now, and it's reliable. If you want a decently priced, solid option this may be worth a try. I will update in 6-12 months on stability and range outside when it warms up.

The installation guide included is of not much help. Download the App and it will guide you on the installation. It will be good to watch the YouTube installation video to get an idea first. Whichever, installation is not difficult as I am a novice myself. Somehow, I find it easier to install and pair all the 3 units in the same location first. Then you to put the 2 slave units to your location of your choice. My main unit is in the store room, 2nd unit on level 2, 3rd unit on level 3. I am surprised that I could enjoyed at least doubled the speed of my existing Wi-Fi system which i installed additional router and extender.Overall, this mesh system is much faster than my existing WiFi connection with. Sometimes, the speed may also dropped without any reason too. If you have switched off the main unit power, the slave units will be down too.

detailedReviews 39: content: TP-Link AX1800 VDSL model is currently the only WiFi 6 modem that available in Australia, it works with FTTB, FTTN, FTTH, FTTP.
All i can say it has improved connection issues and performance that i was previously having. It was easy to setup, once you downloaded the app on your android or apple phone, you simply followed the instructions the app showed you and you are connected in no time.
It took me about 5-10 minutes to setup my modem using Aussie Broadband. Another great thing is you can monitor the modem and turn on settings through the app.
If you're a gamer or streamer the only downside is that TP-Link hasn't allowed users to adjust more advanced settings to further improve gaming online.
My internet connection Ping speeds almost always sits at 6ms while the jitter has been between 1-3ms with my FTTB NBN connection. So i'm very happy with the modem so far and have had no issues either.

Renaming the devices in the app was easy too.MyQ garage program,Honeywell thermostat and ring devices easily installed. Smart TVs no problem either.Only issue was my wife's work computer could not see the network. It appears because of the Wi-Fi 6 of drivers are not up to date that if probably the issue based on my research. Since she has to wait for her tech support to update the driver on the company computer, my work around was just plug in my old router off the x20 in the room she was in and her computer saw the old network.1 device out 25 without issues is good.Speed wise I am getting 151 Mbps upload and download no matter the room I am in. Didn’t look into it until they were complaining the next morning and I figured itOut after they were in school. Now finally got around to creating a profile for my wife. Profile based on Mom. detailedReviews 45: content: Was a little dubious about getting this, but some of the other reviews convinced me to give it a go, and I'm glad I did. Had tried range extenders in different rooms but it never made much difference.
Easy to set up - download the app on your phone, it walks you through it step by step. Note - there is an option that comes up during the setup - enable IPTV/VLAN - if you have fibre then you must enable this, and then there is a drop down menu from which you can select 'New Zealand - UFB' - select this and you will be good to go. Then just place the other two units where you need them in your house, and the system will automatically find them, connect them and get them up and running.
We've been able to move the Playstation back to a bedroom instead of having it in the living room on ethernet cable, and have had multiple users on games, streaming services etc at the same time with no lag or buffering. If this is what you want for your house and you need something that is a breeze to set up (no network skills at all needed) then I fully recommend this product.

It provides a Solid Connection Signal for when you are engaged in Gaming, 4k Streaming or Surfing the Worldwide Web and has built-in Anti-Virus along with Intuition prevention to protect all your connected devices. As for managing the settings in the router, it has an app that can be downloaded & installed from the GooglePlay Store that's very intuitive to use and, you can also run a network optimization if needed. Overall, one of the best purchases I've made this year and worth the Price. 'Considering how slow my internet speed was before when using a Powerline or Virgins rubbish wireless router either, of those connections provided just around 60 megabytes download speed. detailedReviews 54: content: This three piece whole home mesh Wi-Fi 6 system works great. We tend to have a few spots around the house where we get dead spots and becomes super frustrating. Once we installed this set which took about 10 minutes to set up. We noticed a difference immediately and the app is very user friendly . This system covers up to 5800 square feet and works with out Alexa. I am definitely a fan of this system and no more dead spots in the house.

(no not really) Speed is way up without changing internet package, huge improvement in range and connectivity.Arguments with 9 yo about daily internet time/access? GONE. Set the time limits for ratings/days/devices/times available-takes me out of the interaction...Yes, i know i'm the parent...I can limit...(and have-successfully and unsuccessfully)...but something about this external limit really helped him to understand. "Mom can you turn the timer off?" "no"...still tries it for a minute...gives up and goes off to do something else WITHOUT THE FIGHT. No more "almost done" if he wants to save his progress...its his decision and within his control to use his time wisely and save before it gets shut off. Wish I had bought this the day it came out. I'd have paid 3x the price of this just to have my sanity back. It's worth it.We parents can actually work because I can set our devices to priority access for work and video calls...no lagging or dropping. Very happy.

detailedReviews 56: content: I installed 2 Deco X20 units in my house, each in a separate floor. Units are operating as Access Points, directly conncted to a TP Link Archer A9 router (Wifi is disabled) as well as using wired backhaul, so overall connection speed is no issue. Alas, although having relativly strong 5Ghz WiFi signal in most rooms, devices tend to stick with the slower 2.4Ghz WiFi band. The Deco App have no option to set signal treshold to decide when to move a device from one band to another, resulting with a way lower WiFi speed. Occasionally i am able to switch from 2.4Ghz if i restart devices WiFi (android phone) several times when very near one of the units. This is somewhat disapointing as it is a degragation compared to previously using a non-mesh Wifi solution.

detailedReviews 58: content: The house is only 1,650 square feet and split level. So while not large, coverage was always a challenge due to a myriad of walls and multiple levels. The router also sits at a far end of the house on the upper level. Even with a range extender coverage at the opposing end was always spotty. The primary Deco sits next to the router. One satellite is placed at the center of the house. The other is placed on the lower level. My wifi service maxes out at 120mhz.Since installing the X20 I get 120mhz throughout the house and in the front and rear yard. The system was relatively easy to install. detailedReviews 60: content: Really easy to set up wifi solution.
The app is good and lists all of my devices by brand and model.
You can assign them to users and easily rename them to suit.
I can turn on a guest network by asking Alexa.
The parental control features would be good for families.
Uses Wi-Fi 6, which is the latest standard and therefore should last for years. Especially since we are getting firmware upgrades.
Each unit has 2 fast rj45 cable connections useful for desktop computers, TVs etc.
I have had TP-Link devices in the past that have been good.
I bought this as my EE router was mentioned in recent news articles recently as being vulnerable. Having this set feels gives assurance of security and at the same time by being a mesh means wifi is perfect through the whole house.

I've had no issues, I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've had a Deco drop connection. Still getting more than my advertised speed on my ethernet connected main Deco. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to anyone.Original: So far I have to rate 5 stars, setup was easy, app is good. Came from another company and that system could barely go 24 hours without dropping internet and most days it dropped multiple times. TP Link Deco X20 has only dropped once in two weeks and that was during a thunderstorm and our power flickered. detailedReviews 64: content: The WiFi signal is strong with this tri-band setup, but could be faster (speed test gets about 160 Mbps on mesh nodes; full bandwidth [I have 400 mbps service] on main node); however I haven't noticed any issues with throttling watching 4K video or Zoom. It works so much better than my dual-band wifi MIMO router in all aspects including speed, and I always have full Wifi strength, even outside the house. UI offers very limited options, but I was still able to change the DNS server to get pihole running. Works 99% reliably after two months of use - had to reboot once, about on par with other routers. Setup was seamless magic - just plug your modem in to any wired port on one of the routers, plug in the other beacons, and you're done!

detailedReviews 65: content: I would give this product 5 stars because once I put it in AP Mode the WiFi coverage was excellent in my 3500 sq ft home with 1000MB internet. I can even get good signal in the backyard area. However I had a lot of issues with this product in Router mode. Even with the Main and Satellite Deco devices plugged into an Ethernet cable, the 3rd Deco device kept falling Offline and I must have reset it about 5 times before I finally gave up and put it in AP Mode. To be fair, I didn't get around to calling Tech Support but at that point I was frustrated with that and the weird network DNS issues because I had some static IP devices I had to work around. But yeah.. even though I lost some functionality and control, AP is fine for me right now. Maybe I'll take a look at Router mode later when I have more time.

detailedReviews 66: content: A couple weeks ago the tech at my isp told me I was using only 2% of my allowed bandwidth, so the problems I was having was due to my Wi-Fi network being overloaded. I head for B&H and decided on the Deco.
The setup was confusing as there isn't much in the way of words in the instructions. I'm too impatient to call support for a walk through, I toughed it out.
The tricky part is knowing what each thing is that's connected to the Wi-Fi. So, shut all your devices off. Then plug them in 1 at a time and name them in the Deco app.
My Wi-Fi is now roomy for my devices and all my lag problems have disappeared. And now I have a good reach out in yard, so I can take my my iPad with me out in the yard to show Zoom meetings how spectacular my view is.
The price is great and I'm already recommending it to neighbors!

detailedReviews 67: content: I bought the Deco X20 in anticipation of upgrading my home internet speed. Setup was quite easy using the Deco iPhone app. [Pro Tip #1: If you keep your network name(s) and password(s) the same as the one you are replacing, you won't have to set up all your devices again.] That being said, when I ran a speed test I was only getting about 165Mbps through the network from my 400Mbps account. Internet provider tech guy came out and checked the system, then asked to see my app, at which point he suggested I turn off custom QoS. When I did, my network roared to an astonishing ~465Mbps (and I have not had buffering issues). So Pro Tip #2, check QoS settings if you are not getting the network speed you're paying for. That being said, I recommend the Deco X20 as an excellent, affordable, and (for the time being) future-proof wifi mesh system.

This system does the trick. Blazing fast speeds all over the house and outside too.I found the app helpful in the install until I hit a snag...and then it was useless. The website was far more helpful. The main unit set up quickly after an initial hiccup. Warning: the cable included with the unit to go from modem to unit is a bit short. The secondary units were very easy to install. So easy that I plugged and unplugged them in several spots to determine the prime locations. I ran a speed test on my phone to judge.A nice feature is that the app alerts you anytime someone joins your network. The design is clean and simple. I'm pleased with my selection.

detailedReviews 70: content: Easy to setup; simple app; nice build quality and they look nice. It would be good if they had a different main unit - instead of all three the same (cost saving, I suppose) - with more Ethernet connections. Each unit only has two, which is fine for those used as satellites; but I had to buy a switch/hub to connect the various kit (AV amp, music server, etc) That is hardwired to the network. Otherwise very pleased with the network speeds and signal strength. Like the ability to create Guest WiFi (which goes straight out into the internet without being able to see the other devices on your home network) but note you cannot choose which WiFi channels are used - automatic only.

detailedReviews 71: content: Just a heads up to those who are thinking of using these devices. They allocate a different subnet of IP addresses to connected WiFi devices (using their own DCHP service). The units work well but if you need to use your WiFi device to converse with a internal fixed IP address on your network it will not work. Example: I was not able to establish an Airplay stream to my fixed wired Amplifier from my mobile while using these mesh heads. There are a lot of requests for TP-Link to update the units software to turn off their DCHP, but two years later this feature has not been deployed. For simple non complex home networks these devices work well - but for anything less vanilla I'd go with something else.

I also replaced a TP-Link modem/router with a TP-Link 7610. The only problem I had was getting ethernet connections to work at the center or main x20. I contacted TP-Link via chat and got Carlos who has profound knowledge. I simply misunderstood DHCP and Carlos directed me to correctly make the connections to have all my physical units to connect to the internet. The switch I use for ethernet is also a TP-Link. We just can't go wrong with great products and professional support. Many thanks to Carlos and others on that staff for the help.

title: Easy to get Wi-Fi up and running
detailedReviews 90: content: So, what I like about this unit is this:-easy as **** to setup.-user interface gives you a lot of data to see what’s going on with your wifi-overall coverage is very good, no stress about coverage-Sleep look overallSpeeds are a def upgradeCons:I did think that they would have a little better better speed overall, but it is double what I had. It’s just that we have T1 gig speed fiber and I was just more wanting that speed everywhere but it’s unrealistic with a house full of Mobil devices and Sonos and smart home things.-LED is very helpful for status but it’s so bright. There should be a dimming or switch to turn off on the app like Sonos does for their status lights. It’s super bright in my dark maser bed, I usually cover these types of lights with black electric tape.Buy this it’s great. No jokes, I’m just wining overall.

detailedReviews 91: content: Initially the mesh network was easily setup and performed great. There was a complication with our new Arris modem. It is recommended by Xfinity as a modem & gateway for their phones. There was a problem with the phones not working. After a few days Xfinity resolved the issue. When that occurred, we lost WI-fi. I contacted TP-Link Deco about 4 times till we figured it out. Several techs assisted, but Sarah Enojas finally got my Wi-fi working great. I might recommend that before flashing firmware on your Deco X20s, that you be ready for a possible loss of WI-fi connection.

I have had problems with this connection before in the upper corners of the bedroom floors and the basement. After researching the principles and reputable distributors I chose this product and am very satisfied with it.

detailedReviews 93: content: Well. I have tp link router x18000. Honestly I never had any issue with wifi coverage around the house. Well I have 1500sqf house. Lately I bought 2 ring doorbells. Still I had fairly good wifi connection. I'm a tech savvy. I like trying things. With prime day sale. I said oh well I try this model. Well not impressed. First I had to change the location of the other 2 decos few time to get good signal with the main. We talking about 1500sqf house. What the range for this should be?Then I noticed no difference in coverage between my $90 router and how much are those?I'm not impressed considering how much you pay. I can't say I would recommend or not recommend. Hey it might work for you. For me I won't buy. In fact I went and bought tp link re305 extender for $40 and it's working great lol. Again I like give things a try.

title: Not impressed, no difference in coverage
detailedReviews 94: content: When the box arrived I was very surprised at how small the box was - these extenders are super small! And I love the minimal design. After reading the product overview, I was a bit overwhelmed, but I decided to download the TP-Link Deco app and let it guide me through the installation. It did a pretty good job, but I did run into a few issues... For the mostpart I was very impressed. This system comes equipped to provide dual-band speeds up to 1800 Mbps (but I think your internet provider must support this!) and coverage up to 5,800 sq. ft., which is fantastic for me because I'll get internet in my backyard and on my deck. It also promises less buffering - but I think this also depends on many factors like the provider and/or streaming servers. It has the standard parental controls and security features. It also works with Alexa, which I don't have so I wasn't able to try. It offers the option to go wired or wireless with 2 gigabit wan/lan ports (do people still use ethernet?). I am using the wireless option. It includes a 3-year warranty. I did not use any support options so I can't review the competency level of TP-Link's support. Overall, I have to say I am very impressed with the product. It's nice to soup-up and extend the coverage of my existing router. My only question is - does this support Wifi 6E, the newest evolution of WiFi?

detailedReviews 95: content: I am honestly surprised by the performance of these. I work for a very large TV company, and when people have trouble connecting to the Internet, we often recommend a signal booster, but I myself have never personally tried one. And our large ranch style home The modem is at the opposite end of my house, and in the master bedroom I always have a terrible connection on my computer. I was looking forward to trying these to see if it helped. I honestly wasn’t expecting too much but I was very pleasantly surprised. They said it was rather easy you just set up an app and get them connected name them, etc. As soon as I connected the laptop to it the difference was night and day. The laptop wasn’t just spinning and loading for 90 seconds at a time, it actually loaded right away. Now, is it lightning fast? Absolutely not, but it truly is night and day to have pages load when you click them instead of it buffering for 1 to 2 minutes every time. I definitely recommend these.

detailedReviews 96: content: The DECO X20 2-PACK was great, I have connected one at each end of my house, and the days of weak WiFi at the rear of the house are gone, I don't notice any drops out with the meshed setup and it works great. The interface is a bit restrictive as I can only see what is connected, not which AP they are currently on, nor can I see the APs individually. Better documentation and instructions would make the product simpler to use. The KP115 smart plug and 4619544 power strip work really well, I have long been concerned how much power my printer uses in standby, so the smart plug allows me to monitor this, as well as remotely switch it off when not in use. The power strip also allows me to remotely turn off and on devices connected to it, without having to access the powerboard directly, this is great for appliances that may need an occasional power cycle and are plugged in, in hard to reach places, such as at the back of a TV cabinet or under a desk. The only downside is it doesn't have inbuilt power monitoring like the smart plug does. The KL60, KL130 smart bulbs work really well, personally I am not a fan of filament bulbs, but the fact you can dim them and turn them off and on remotely, I am happy to keep them in places they would suit, as the bulbs are good quality and work without issue. The coloured bulbs work really well too, the kids have a great time asking Alexa to change the colours, and the brightness of them is excellent, being able to set them at different levels depending on what you need is great, and the profile settings in the app are great for autosetting mood lighting across multiple globes and rooms. The only thing I wish they would improve is the user interface, as it is somewhat limiting in some situations and us more geared for single room lights rather than mutli room lights. The bulbs changing one at a time is noticeable when having 4 in the one room, I would of expected some sort of group setup with a braodcast/mutlicast option. Overall good!

title: Good product, smart plug and bulbs work well
detailedReviews 97: content: As soon as you download the app before you can do anything you have to create a tp-link account. Why?!
I connected the first deco (main deco) with ethernet cable - I connected my laptop (over 5GHz) and ran a speed test - result is 430 Mb on Deco network and it is 500 Mb on my regular network - the product specs say that on 5GHz it can support until 1201 Mb - where did the 70 Mb go?!
I continued and connected the second Deco 7m away from the main one with no blockage in between. I went really close to the second one and I waited for my laptop to connect to it - It connected, speed test 260 Mbit?!!!
This is the same efficiency as a cheap repeater, what is the appeal of a mesh network created with Deco?! Why should someone use this product where it cannot provide the basic functionalities it is created for.
I still continued and connected the 3rd Deco. This one was another 7 meters away from the 2nd one. So the setup was like Deco1 --7m-- Deco2 --7m-- Deco3. What happened? Deco3 connected to Deco1 (which is 14m away) and there is nothing in the App that you can do force it to connect to Deco2?! Wow. I understand maybe the distances are not far enough but why don't you let me control the connections?
At the end I forced Deco3 to connect to Deco2 by deleting the whole network and adding them again - somehow the strange Deco dark magic worked.
In short, Deco (at least this model: X20) slows down your internet and you cannot control the structure/topology of your own network.

detailedReviews 98: content: Easy to setup
Resolved connectivity issues
Needs to be in Access point mode for most setups
Can't have different SSIDs for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands
We have a very long house with the ISP's router at one end, which means that signal is weak mid way and non-existent at the farther end. The Deco system was easy to set up and the three units more than covered our house, resolving the main issue of connectivity far from the ISP's router. Speed is OK but varies around the house and is not as good as direct connection to ISPs router. Most importantly, unless you have made arrangements with your ISP to allow the Deco to act as a DNS server you must set it up in 'Access Point' mode or it will fight with the ISP's router causing all sorts of problems. This can be done easily during setup but the instructions do not make clear that 'Access Point' is needed in almost all cases. A significant limitation is that both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi bands MUST have the same name (SSID), other brands will allow different names for each band. Whilst this is unlikely to be an issue in most set ups, for us it stopped our SONOS system working. I have since discovered that although SONOS creates its own mesh network it also relies on WiFi to connect controllers and portable speakers (Roam, Move). If the SONOS mesh is connected to one Wifi band and your phone decides to connect to the other, you will not be able to control the SONOS system and the portable speakers will disappear from the controllers. For the Deco the only way to resolve this is to turn off one of the bands losing that facility and thus reducing the value of the Deco system.

detailedReviews 102: content: I hope this is not my final review of this product and that the next one is more positive, but this is my actual experience to date.
The TP-Link Deco X20-4G AX1800 is not a cheap product and it took me a good deal of time to convince myself it was worth the $$$. Unfortunately, it wasn't!
The TP-Link Deco app could not detect the unit or could not complete the set up process, despite numerous attempts and re-attempts by me to do so. So much for "easy to set up" mesh networks!
Anyway, I resisted throwing it out the window (just) and went back to my old TP-Link AC750 router and wi-fi extender. I will have another go in a week or so, after I recover from the disappointment, but am not hopeful of a different result, because there is no obvious reason for the problem occurring.
I guess it is then a support request to TP-Link and fingers crossed that their support is OK. If not, I have just done several hundred dollars.
I couldn't recommend this product or the TP-Link Deco app. It is the single most disastrous and disappointing tech experience I have had in many years! Don't buy this expecting it to be easy!

title: Disastrous and disappointing tech experience
detailedReviews 103: content: The only pro I can give for this is that it is cheaper than alternatives. But this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for." because the Cons of this Home Mesh System are numerous. First, control is through App only. That is immediately a red flag and a non-starter from me. There is NO reason for you to invade my privacy with all your requirements of location services. For a QUARTER CENTURY, it was just fine setting up and configuring all your WiFi settings on your browser. Other than wanting to invade customer's privacy now, there is NO reason to require Apps. But it doesn't end there. I decided to install the app on an old phone that will never be turned on for anything else so it can't track me. Just to test it. But this mesh system just isn't good. First off, there are no USB ports on any of the devices. That is fine for a sub-$30 router...but not for one over $100. I used the USB, so therefore this immediately is useless to me. But maybe you are thinking you don't care about your privacy and are OK with using an app, and you don't care about a USB port. You still shouldn't get this. It is sloooooow. My current set up of a router with an extender of a different brand gets me faster speeds everywhere. This mesh system, in a small house, gets me less than 200 MB down in the same room as the satellite. For many people, that is fine. But it sure isn't future proof as internet speeds are constantly rising. And if you have a larger house, you will likely be even more disappointed even at today's lower tier internet speed packages. Especially if you have multiple devices. The only positive I can say is that it looks OK. Nothing great, but OK, and it did cover my whole house. But again, a mis-matched router/extender with just one extender already did that. And cost a lot less overall. TP-Link needs to step up their game with this, and also give us our freedom back with the usual router IP to login on a browser to configure. And let that be a lesson for all companies. Do NOT force us to download your app. I don't know any single person who wants a different app for everything on their phone. People feel they have too any apps already as it is. Allow people who want it to use it, but do not force it on us.
