snippets: can we talk about this it's the new camera control button Apple's just adding buttons left right and Center we've got five now we've got the action button two volumes the power and the camera control and this actually is also on the regular phones in fact the sixs have both the action and the camera control and essentially it's another short cut for the camera so I can either press once or double press as I've changed it to because I kept accidentally turning it on and switching to the camera so with a double press it opens the camera I can press again take a picture or I can hold it down to start shooting a video, the best bit though is you don't have to think about it because it will just automatically capture in this new spatial audio although you can turn that off if you want but only if you actually want to go in the edit afterwards Tinker with audio mix switch between standard inframe Studio or cinematic and then apply it and then save your video again and the overall quality is also improved because we have these new studio mics on the pro series of phones although audio mix will be coming to the regular 16s and the pros but for the best quality Pros but putting everything else to the side the quality of the video the stabilization the Cinematic video as well also being able to shoot 4K 120 Pro res log although you're going to require an extel hard drive at that point I still maintain this is the best phone for video and also just the quality of uploading to social media from your phone so for a Creator device I still think this is the one to go for but in terms of pure photographic image quality I think there are better options out there and if you haven't already checked out my big iPhone versus Samsung versus pixel camera comparison definitely going to have a watch of that after this for me the biggest upgrades are the battery life and the photography mode modes for the camera but I still very much maintain this as a 15s Pro Max rather than a 16 Pro Max in terms of overall upgrades will that change with apple intelligence maybe we're going to have to revisit this when uh iOS 18.1 or two perhaps come out

snippets: other times it's just got in the way I've accidentally pressed it and maybe like changed the depth or the exposure of an image and it's just been distracting or I'm trying to figure out what I actually want to use it for I think I've settled on the cameras options so I can switch between the different Zoom levels but if I'm honest it just feels like Apple's running out of ideas a bit and they thought oh what can we do to make the 16 series stand out or let's add another button that does what you could already do on the screen or indeed what you could already do with the action button which would start the camera or even the volume down which also acts as a shutter there's so many different ways of opening the camera I appreciate this goes a step further and you can swipe around change the Styles and the depth and some of you may absolutely love it and think it's the best thing since slice bread for me I could take it or leave it to be honest I suppose one thing it does do is free up the action button because I think Apple said that three quarters of people had the action button set to the camera now I can free it up and put it back to silent so basically back to the toggle switch it's always been but to free up the action button for maybe accessibility features or a shortcut for an app that is useful to have back and it doesn't get in the way you can just turn it off if you want uh you don't have to use a camera control but it's there and it's worth having a play around with but it's not a reason to rush out and buy an iPhone 16 although when Apple intelligence does finally launch it will also have this visualization feature kind of like a Google Lens so you can just press the camera control and it will scan what's in the scene and then tell you more about it

snippets: so the final question that we need to answer is Apple intelligence is it good does it save the iPhone 16s from becoming what would otherwise be a very minor update well here's where I have a couple of Bones to pick firstly if you buy an iPhone 16 now you will not get apple intelligence straight out the box it's coming in a software update later although I've set up a beta so that I can show you now and secondly it's not exclusive to these FMS which isn't in itself a problem it's good when more people can experience these features but it just makes the launch event feel a little misleading cuz Apple spent half of the iPhone 16 section talking about Apple intelligence but then the fact that almost everything also works on the iPhone 15 Pro means that those features have very little to do with iPhone 16 Hardware anyways
