items 2: content: I bought this 13" Macbook Air M4 with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage for my daily commute and to use on trips. It is so light, so fast, so thin, and so beautiful. The battery lasts easily a full day of web development work and watching videos.
It runs games alright (I tested Dress to Impress on Roblox with some friends and it ran on very high with no stutter) but the real draw is that I can focus purely on productivity. No shifting a hot laptop around to keep it from burning me, no worries about charging it, no considering if it will be able to run something or handle a workload. It just keeps handling everything flawlessly. One of my favorite recent purchases. You'd never know it was renewed or that it's the most barebones 2025 laptop offered by Apple. Incredible value!

items 3: content: I purchased the MacBook Air M4 a few weeks ago and in short this is quite a powerful machine for its price. As a student and a programmer I needed something light, strong and a machine with great battery life to handle my day to day tasks. The MacBook Air M4 checked all the boxes for me and had a great price tag for such a new Apple product. Below I will give the Good and the "Meh" of this machine.
The Good
Battery Life: The new MacBook Air M4 offers outstanding battery life, making it perfect for students and programmers who need all-day performance without being tethered to a charger. Whether you're coding for hours, attending virtual classes, or juggling assignments, its efficient M4 chip keeps everything running smoothly with incredible endurance.
Base Model with 16gb of RAM: This ample RAM is particularly beneficial for students and programmers, allowing for seamless operation of multiple applications, such as code editors, compilers, and virtual machines, without slowdowns. The combination of the M4 chip and increased memory ensures a smooth and efficient workflow, making it an ideal choice for handling complex programming tasks and academic projects.
M4 chip & Bench Marks: The base model MacBook Air with the M4 chip delivers a major performance boost, perfect for students and programmers. Built on a 3nm process, it features a fast 10-core CPU and scores around 3,760 (single-core) and 14,700 (multi-core) in Geekbench 6—up to 20–30% faster than the M3. It also includes a powerful Neural Engine for AI tasks and runs cool and silent thanks to its fanless design, making it ideal for everyday coding, multitasking, and schoolwork.
The "Meh"
60hz Display: The M4 MacBook Air's display is solid but unremarkable. It features a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina panel with a 2560×1664 resolution, 500 nits brightness, and P3 wide color gamut. While these specs are adequate for everyday tasks, the 60Hz refresh rate feels dated in 2025, especially when many competitors offer smoother 120Hz displays. Additionally, the screen's glossy finish can lead to noticeable reflections in bright environments, and its contrast ratio is lower compared to OLED or Mini LED panels, making blacks appear more grayish in dim settings. For students and programmers, the display is functional, but those seeking a more vibrant and fluid visual experience might find it lacking.
Base Storage for price: The base MacBook Air M4 comes with just 256GB of storage, which feels tight for its price—especially for students and programmers. macOS and system files take up around 30–40GB right out of the box, leaving roughly 210GB usable. With large development tools and media files, that space can disappear fast, making an upgrade or external drive almost essential.
In Summary: All in all, the MacBook Air M4 is a powerful, efficient, and student-friendly machine that hits the sweet spot for everyday use and programming. While the display and base storage leave a bit to be desired, the exceptional battery life, 16GB of RAM, and impressive M4 performance more than make up for it. If you're looking for a lightweight, reliable laptop that can handle demanding tasks without draining your energy—or your wallet—it’s a solid choice worth considering.

items 4: content: A great laptop with exceptional battery life, perfect for school, work and productivity. When paired with Apple ecosystem it seamlessly enters your daily life.
Lightweight and really easy to carry around all day at work or campus, at a desk or on the bed. The MacBook Air does everything with ease, no fan noise and a long lasting battery.
The base Air model with 16GB of RAM is enough for everything you'd need, upgrade to a 24GB of RAM will get you slightly more cores for performances, but for most people 16GB is enough. Screen is 60Hz and less bright compared to the Pro, so more glares outdoors, but in moderate sunlight it's not a big issue.
I debated getting the Air vs the Pro, and for me having 0.7 extra pounds to be carrying around everywhere doesn't bring freedom of choosing your workspace, which is important for me. I suggest picking up a Air vs Pro at a store, to see if you can imagine yourself using it everywhere, everyday.
My daily usage includes research on chromes(20+ tabs), google meetings and working on coding IDEs, remote desktop and watching videos/movies. No complaints for multitasking purposes. Although if you are doing heavier workloads like 4k editing or software engineering, consider the MacBook Pro because thermal throttling WILL slow down your work.
I also do some light gaming on the MacBook Air as well. For cloud gaming the wifi on these laptop will give you stable enough connection to play cloud. Natively the Air will almost heats up for every newer games out there like Cyberpunk 2077, but you won't be getting a MacBook for gaming purposes.
TL;DR: If you need a productivity laptop with the best battery life(and trackpad) with no fan noise, for school, work and daily use, get the Air. 24GB for those who knows what they need it for, 16GB for the average user.

Sleek Yet Sturdy Design
The first thing that struck me is its lightweight, ultra-thin build—I can carry it everywhere without feeling weighed down. The aluminum body feels premium and robust, making it both stylish and durable.
Powerful Performance
Powered by Apple’s cutting-edge silicon, the MacBook Air delivers zippy performance for everything—from multitasking and video calls to editing high-res photos and streaming 4K content. Apps open almost instantly, and the battery lasts all day (easily 15+ hours on a single charge!). so I don’t have to hunt for an outlet.
Gorgeous Display and Quiet Operation
The Retina display is stunning, with vibrant colors and crisp details that make movies, web browsing, and work a pleasure. Thanks to its fanless design, the MacBook Air stays whisper-quiet, even during resource-heavy tasks.
Intuitive macOS Experience

items 7: content: I was considering getting either the Surface or the ProArt, but ultimately, choosing the MacBook Air turned out to be a great decision for me. If the MacBook Air had come with 8GB of RAM minimum and needed to be upgraded, there’s a good chance I would’ve gone with ProArt instead which has more RAM and Storage.
I’ve been using the MacBook Air for about a month now and have had no issues. The battery life is excellent, and it’s incredibly lightweight—perfect for me since I travel frequently for work. It really helps reduce the weight and clutter in my bag.
The only downside I’ve encountered is that some Windows-specific applications I previously used aren’t compatible with macOS. However, I’m working on finding suitable alternatives, so it's not a major problem.
As for storage, I initially considered the 512GB model, but since I store most of my files in the cloud, the base storage has been more than sufficient.
Overall, this laptop has been a perfect match for both my work and everyday use.

items 8: content: I’m seriously impressed with the new 13-inch MacBook Air with the M4 chip! It’s lightning-fast, super lightweight, and runs everything I need without a hitch — from everyday tasks to creative work like video editing and multitasking with multiple apps. The 16GB of memory makes a noticeable difference in speed and smooth transitions, and the 512GB SSD offers plenty of storage for all my files, apps, and media.
The Sky Blue color is gorgeous in person — subtle but unique, and it makes the laptop feel modern and personal. Battery life is just as amazing as Apple promises, lasting me all day on a single charge.
The new M4 chip is a big step forward — it’s incredibly efficient and fast, and I can already tell it’s built for the future, especially with upcoming Apple Intelligence features.
If you’re debating upgrading, this is 100% worth it. Lightweight, stunning display, long battery, and future-proof performance. Love it!

Apple’s M4 chip is a game-changer—apps launch instantly, multitasking is buttery smooth, and even demanding tasks like video editing or coding feel effortless. The display is vibrant and razor-sharp, with colors that pop whether I’m editing photos or streaming movies. Battery life is phenomenal—I can go a full day (and then some) without reaching for the charger. The build quality is top-notch: slim, ultra-light, and easy to carry anywhere.
If you want a laptop that combines speed, silence, portability, and stunning visuals, the MacBook M4 Air is worth every penny. It’s an absolute powerhouse in a sleek, travel-friendly form factor.

items 10: content: I love this thing to be honest. Small, lite, and powerful enough to do what I need it to do.
Having other Apple products it makes overall connectivity really easy. Iam able to wireless connect my iPad Pro making a second screen, both of which are 13”, so that is super useful, and because everything has a small overall footprint it is easy to put away and store without having to have a huge set up.
The Apple intelligence is super helpful as well in streamlining smaller tasks leaving more time to focused on bigger projects.
The looks of this MacBook Air is closer to the looks of the MacBook pro’s which I like a lot. Wasn't a fan of the thin tapered body of previous MacBook Air models.
So far this has been a great buy for my returning to college and Dailey use. Looking forward to using it for some time to come.

items 11: content: Really great product as my first Mac I umed and ared for and against this or its Microsoft equivalent but it all came down to the software the Mac os is flawless fast and easy to navigate even for a first time user aswell the unmatched battery life is so helpful for working in a work or school environment, the weight is perfect for a commute as weighs no more than a kilo.
The internals on the newest Mac Air are brilliant having had a mid range dell previous to this doesn't even come close the m4s 10 core 10 core setup is perfect for work and gaming although not all games are supported by the Mac os on steam. 16gb as standard is great as well for CAD especially runs a smoother and more stable level whilst rendering high texture models.
Overall should you buy this,
Short answer yes it's a great addition to your existing apple ecosystem but if you are not already in the ecosystem I would consider your wider options aswell consider the games you want to play if any on the computer look at support.
Also highly recommend John Lewis great customer support and shipping time and easy to use website.

items 12: content: Apple has done it again! I finally upgraded my old MacBook Air and I could not be more satisfied with my decision. The screen is small enough that it can fit easily in my back pack, yet large enough that I don’t feel I’m straining my eyes to see. The features is the new Macs are amazing. For example the new M4 chip allows you to have two external monitors displayed while also having the laptop itself displayed. Previous models could not do that. Also, it handles multiple tasks at once well. I often have Lightroom which is a pretty taxing task running and Spotify and other tabs open at once and it runs smooth. If you’re into more advanced activities such as video editing I would maybe look into the Pro model. But for a photo hobbyist/student this works just fine. And the color looks clean!

items 13: content: The box was a little scuffed and marked. But the laptop itself is perfect for school. Camera is great, audio is clear, and the display is wonderful. Not to mention the great battery life. Runs everything I need it to. The price can bite, but for me it’s justified by the compatibility with my other devices, the Intelligence program, and the care that Apple gives its customers. The midnight color, as awesome as it looks, does love fingerprints, so bear that in mind. The keyboard is basic, nothing wrong with it, but just not as comfortable for me as other laptops. Overall it’s a pretty nice upgrade from the M3, with better base specs and a cheaper cost. So if you’ve been looking at that one, just get the M4!

items 14: content: I ordered a new MacBook Air (M4, Midnight) for use with my work for Someone To Tell It To. I am their Executive Assistant and Compassionate Listener. My old MacBook Air (Early 2020) was requiring a daily reboot to get through the workday.
Everything about my experience with B&H, from placing the order to unpacking and setting up my MacBook Air, was delightful. The MacBook arrived when promised. The packaging was protective and recyclable. The contents were pristine. I couldn't wait to get started on this new computer. I crossed over! First Mac for me and I’m very pleased. Although I’m certain there’s features I haven’t yet discovered, so far the learning curve has not been steep. Setup was very intuitive and basic navigation was easy to figure out.
Huge bonus was how my thousands of iPhone photos appeared like magic! At last I will be able to clean up and organize photo files and feel secure in knowing my photos are conveniently accessible in one more place.
The devise is lightweight, sleek, the backlit keys are a feature I didn’t expect to appreciate so much!

items 16: content: The keyboard and screen are a joy to use, and the speed is just amazing. Now with MacOS 26 it's lovely! While I didn't realise Midnight would be quite as blue as it is, but I have adjusted to that already. :)
I've owned more than a few MacBooks over the years, the last one being the Intel-based 13" Pro with Touch Bar (yeah, I know, right—seemed like a good idea at the time). Using it on a recent trip around Europe to write content and work in visuals for a bunch off magazine articles, it kept getting really hot and battery ran really low, affecting my productivity and throughput in a huge way. I bought this new MacBook while traveling and organised pick-up for the day we landed back in NZ. Setting up was a breeze (of course), just replicating what I have on my Mac Studio; and I was productive immediately.

items 17: content: When deciding between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, I was concerned the Air would lack the responsiveness that I would want in my daily usage. I'm happy to report that this machine more than holds its own. Daily usage is quick and snappy. It's also proven very capable of running Lightroom Classic while connected to a NAS for photo master storage. I have found performance far better than a similarly spec'd ASUS laptop. In addition to being a capable workstation, the laptop is one of the lightest I've ever used. I look forward to using it while traveling. My only minor complaint is with the quality of the on-board speakers — they are not as rich or full as the MacBook Pro that I use for work, but I plan to use headphones when I need higher fidelity audio.

items 18: content: This is by far the best laptop I have ever owned. The battery life on this machine is insane, getting over 10+ hours easily, while also being very fast and quiet (this laptop has no fans, so it is completely silent 24/7).
The build quality of this machine is also superb, it's very light and well built, and Apple recently fixed their Butterfly Keyboard problem so I don't see why this machine can't last you at least 5 years.
The only con about this laptop is the ports, which is fine for me because you can buy dongles for <$20 and have access to a ton of ports. Thermal throttling is another issue, but unless your doing some serious editing, or Software Engineering tasks, you likely won't ever throttle.
Overall this is the perfect laptop for 99% of people, for those who want to do more intensive things like Machine Learning or intense Software Engineering, I would suggest you get the MacBook Pro.

items 19: content: I made the switch from Windows to Apple. It is a lot of new things to learn but I am happy. I bought the base model MacBook Air M4 while on sale from Best Buy at $850. I also bought an external 2T SSD for $150. I have had the laptop for 3 weeks and use it for all the normal things like email, browsing the web plus making content for my YouTube channel. It seams to be faster than my PC for video editing. I do try to delete unused programs and files on the 250 GB internal hard drive to keep at least 100MB free. By doing this I hope I can edit multiple large 4K videos. So far so good. I wonder if I should have spent another $500 to $700 and bought the Pro. I love the small size and quietness of the M4 Air. I have got use to the no touch screen on the air after 2 weeks. At under $1000 it is a lot better deal than an iPad. So far so good.

items 20: content: I bought the MacBook Air M4 as a replacement for my M2 version. I liked that the price had decreased, plus Best Buy had it on sale, and that 16GB RAM was now standard. I also liked that Best Buy allowed me to trade in my old MacBook Air and use it towards the purchase. Also liked that Best Buy offered a payment plan so I could spread out the cost over a year with my Best Buy credit card. Plus I could pick it up within hours.
I now own a MacBook Air that is more future proof and a bit faster. The M4 chip is fast and probably more powerful than I need for my simple tasks, but I like the fact that it does have more power if I do some photo editing. I mainly upgraded from M2 to M4 to get the 16GB RAM and since my M2 MacBook Air had a good trade in value, it made it a good deal. The M4 MacBook Air will last me for many many years

I want some features not available on the iPad. I moved from a HP spectre which I loved accept some of the key road functions, such as typing along and suddenly I’ve lost the Custer, or I’m typing in the middle of the text I’ve been writing. Aside from the lost cursor I loved the HP and its touch screen was great, battery life on the 5 year has lost its zeal. Why Apple doesn’t have the touchscreen is beyond me. items 24: content: As a long-time Mac user, this M4 is the best Apple laptop to-date. It balances speed, GPU, processor power and screen clarity with exceptional build-quality and aesthetic appeal at a price less than last year's M3 model. A very worthwhile upgrade for the vast majority of users (particularly those still on Intel-based Macs, who will notice a huge difference in speed). The only limitations for some might be the number of ports (MagSafe and two USB C only) and the 60hz screen refresh rate, coupled with the inability to upgrade storage and RAM after purchase. However, John Lewis often have the price-matched, so it is possible to get very good price on 24GB RAM or 512GB SSD configurations. Highly recommend and a machine that will most people last years.

items 25: content: I'm not sure what to review with the latest MacBook Air. It is an amazing machine. You don't think about the speed, (it's just fast to the point of not noticing it, never lags on anything), you don't think about the build quality (it just feels like a solid piece of aluminum), and you don't think about the OS integration (everything just works out of the box if you are even remotely in the Apple universe of products).
I'm not pushing this machine to do anything in particular (no video editing, normal photo editing, media consumption, etc.) and it just doesn't get in the way. It boots instantly, the screen is gorgeous, trackpad is phenomenal, keyboard is great. With the recent price drops, this is a fantastic machine that I know will be supported and FAST for many years.
