detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: This was a replacement purchase to replace a 10 year old mid-range HP product which had slowed to a crawl and which couldn't be updated to Windows 11.
The Dell replacement starts up and shuts down fast - it has all the wireless connectivity features I need to media stream and connect to my home hifi system and I can connect my various bluetooth headphones and earphones without any issues.
I will say that it could use another USB port because my model doesn't include a CD/DVD re-writer and with the way I set up my system, with a cooling pad, a wireless keyboard and mouse - and an external HDD for media streaming - then I'm left a bit short when I want to use an external re-writer and another USB drive.
I know all manufacturers are cutting corners - and some think they've covered all the angles for the download generation - but they should keep in mind that us from the old-skool, we need our ports - especially if you aren't including re-writers as standard.
The Windows 11 Home is a disappointment as - and maybe I didn't pay enough attention during my order - but only machines with a Windows Pro license come with Bitlocker included - and to get Bitlocker after the fact it's another £120 for the Pro license from the Microsoft Store - I know there's other encryption software out there, but I'm used to bitlocker and would have expected it as standard - but that's not Dell's fault. So maybe if like me, you use encryption on your portable drives, then consider ordering a machine with a Pro version of Windows installed as I'm sure it works out cheaper that way.
As far as everyday use goes, it's standard fare when it comes to video editing, Windows Clipchamp is atually useful on this machine compared to my old machine but video processing time on other applications are the same but that's to be expected as the hardware is similar spec - I haven't tried any games yet and so I can't comment on that but it should handle basic games fine based on the processing of my video editing.
One issue I have noticed is that - regardless of internet browser (as the same issue arises with all three that I've tried) - is when you open various tabs with video content in the browsers - some of those tabs will display a blank screen after a couple of minutes - it's not the set-up on the browsers, because the three browsers I tried were all set-up different and so I think it's a graphics issue - which is why I haven't bothered trying any games which are intensive as I don't think the machine will cope.
Another thing I've noticed on the graphics front is that when I project to a different screen (which I do often) I'm constantly having to either adjust the scaling or restart the machine as the picture doesn't fit on start-up after being turned off the night before - it's more than annoying - this could be a windows issue or an AMD Rysen 7 issue - who knows.
But otherwise - this is a low to mid range machine - it is what it is - if you need to replace your laptop because you can't upgrade to Windows 11 when they turn off support for Windows 10 in September 2025 and you don't want to break the bank - then this machine will do a job for you, yes there's niggling issues - but you get what you pay for.
I've given it four stars even though the graphics bugs make me want to give it three - what can I say - it's Christmas...

detailedReviews 2: content: The laptop was perfectly functional. BUT,
Unfortunately, it took 2 weeks from order to delivery, so not a great start.
On ordering, I'd have preferred an aluminium case, but Dell informed me it would be £200 more, so I settled for the black case.
Somehow, I must have missed the option to request backlit keyboard. This was something that I would have thought would have been included as standard, as the keyboard was all black, letters more faint than bold - and could barely be distinguished in daylight, let alone in dim lighting.
So, when I discovered there was no option to add backlighting at the stage I was at, having the laptop set up and on my desk, but was offered to return the existing laptop and enter a new order for one with backlit keys, I had had enough - so returned it to Dell.
A shame since I have a 7 year old (aluminium case with black keys) which was fine apart from my touchpad rising up over the months.
Dissatisfied with Dell now, from very long delivery time, and ridiculous black keys on black casing with no backlighting as standard, so will look elsewhere for next laptop.
Found that the touchpad problem on my Inspiron 13 was due to a swollen battery! (Dell - do many of your laptop batteries do that?). I have replaced with a new battery and now I can use and keep the Inspiron 13 until I am ready to update to a new (probably non-Dell) laptop.
Generally disappointed with Dell in general now.

detailedReviews 3: content: Laptop was purchased for daily home use and to complete an academic course. The 15.6" screen is useful when looking at drawings/diagrams and the keyboard with a numeric pad is extremely useful.
The SSD results in a snappy feeling response and quiet operation. Boot up times are in seconds and the laptop performs admirably with it's 13th Generation Intel I5.
For the majority of the time, this laptop is running nothing more strenuous than MS Office, but it's interesting to note the 16gb of ddr4 ram does afford this machine the ability to run some pretty heavyweight pieces of software for content creators.
This laptop sits in a nice middle ground of capable without costing a fortune. It also looks really nice and whilst packing a large screen (by modern laptop standards), remains slim and portable enough for people on the move.
This is our second laptop from Dell, our previous being a 2 in 1 with a smaller OLED touch screen used for video editing and flight controller configuration. Both are great laptops.
No complaints so far with either machine. I would highly recommend Dell - great website, super clear pages, easy to order and very prompt delivery. 10/10 experience. You literally can't go wrong. Plenty of options along the way to ensure you land with the right machine for you. You can even spread the cost.
Thank you Dell.

detailedReviews 4: content: The laptop itself works quite well - very fast, long battery life, good documentation. Three hardware issues are annoying. The first one (I knew about when I ordered it) is the lack of an optical drive. I ordered one separately - only $40, but it seems very flimsy and reads only DVDs and not CDs. Also, the documentation on the drive is nonexistent. It came with an installation DVD which was outdated, and I wasted a lot of time trying to get it to work. I called Dell Support for help, and an agent pointed out that the drive had automatically installed itself! The second issue is the lack of an ethernet port, which would have made data rates a lot faster than relying on Wi-Fi. I did not notice this when I ordered the laptop. Third issue (which I didn't notice when I ordered the laptop) was that the touchpad also provides the mouse left and right click buttons, which are separate on my old computers. I've pretty much gotten used to this, but it always requires an adjustment when I move between my other computers that have separate mouse buttons. Finally, I'm still working on getting several older applications to work on Windows 11. They work fine on Windows 10. This will be a real problem if I can't get them working -- but this is not Dell's responsibility.

detailedReviews 5: content: I use this laptop for personal use and replaces a 2020 DELL Inspiron laptop. The specs and features are great. This review was requested by DELL only a couple weeks after receiving it. The review is a little premature, that is, ask me again in a year. So far, this Inspiron laptop is good. It has one operational concern, that it frequently loses Internet connection which is always resolved by resetting the Network Adapter. This happens nearly once a day. The other two negatives are the loss of one standard USB port for a USB-C port. I would rather have seen them keep 3 USB ports and add a USB-C port. Finally, the back lit keyboard is really nice but it times out by design. If your environment is low light your first key strike is in the dark which then turns on the back lighting. Your first key strike often is wrong and needs to be corrected. I think it would be nice if the keyboard back lighting remained on in a low standby mode or at least a low standby mode if there's any activity on the touch pad (mouse).

detailedReviews 6: content: This is my 4th Dell laptop in decades and the 3rd that I have purchased directly from Dell. As a senior over 70 years old, I found it very difficult to get this laptop to open. You turn the laptop on and an audio tells you what keys to press so quickly that before you get your mind in gear for a memory test it is gone. There is no replay button to press. No printed material to read. Then, try to connect with Tech Support to do a chat took hours to find how to do this.
I was guided through the process of opening up this laptop and given verbal instructions on activating the Microsoft Office Home & Business 2024 that I purchased with this computer. Then, I was on my own. The verbal instructions given to activate my Microsoft Office 2024 did not work.
Over the course of 2 weeks, I had to contact MicroSoft Support to activate Outlook. Then, I spent 7 hours with MicroSoft Support and 6 technicians to get Windows 11 to function like it was supposed. The Windows 11 had corrupted files and had to be upgraded. I have yet to fully personalize this laptop. Still trying to get my files on the computer versus OneDrive (cloud).
Very painful process. Never have had this much trouble getting to use a new laptop straight out of the box.
Granted most of my issues were is MicroSoft and not Dell. Am grateful for the tech support chats.
Would only recommend this product to someone who is tech savvy.

detailedReviews 7: content: I'm quite disappointed about my purchase. The laptop has several small and bigger issues, but I can't put my finger on what is wrong. It is what I ordered, so I can't send it back... otherwise I would have. The video card apparently can't handle certain simple videos, that my old 5 year old laptop (also a Dell and basically a simpler model) can easily process. Sometimes, the laptop freezes up for no apparent reason. Also, when downloading or watching a movie/series, the fan is often making a sound as if a plane is taking off. This is really annoying. The keyboard is not what I expected, Windows 11 is a disaster, and I can't change colour setting to my liking (it'll allow me and then just goes back to the original one later). Several things I could do on my old laptop (which should be of an inferior quality), I just can't do on this one. I wanted to replace the old laptop with a better one, but in several ways this is a step back. Sure, the graphics look better, the screen is great, and it's nice and light. But I regret buying this, and won't buy a Dell again in the future.

detailedReviews 8: content: I was looking for a Windows 11 laptop that was well specified, with a fast processor (Intel or AMD 7), plenty of memory and at least 512GB of hard drive, full HD 15" screen. All for a reasonable price. And I prefer silver to black, another consideration.
For less than I'd expected to pay, I was able to get 1TB of hard drive.
Arrived when I expected, in perfect condition.
In use, it's everything I wanted! WiFi and Bluetooth work seamlessly. Everything is very fast - downloads, updates, opening and closing files, start-up and shutdown.
It has an SD card slot, and I've found that transfer on and off SD card is faster than I have previously experienced.
Although it feels solid and well made, it's very light and easy to carry. I use it mainly at home, plugged in, but so far battery life when not connected is very finy, even when set for best performance.
Runs very quietly, doesn't get very hot even after a couple of hours. I didn't need a backlit keyboard, but I've got used to it and find that I like having it.

detailedReviews 9: content: This Dell Inspiron15 had all the features that I needed. Full HD screen, backlight KB, NvMe SSD. Tried finding this computer on Amazon and BestBuy but they would have one with all my needed features but would be touch screen. Don't want a touchscreen. Or they would have one without the touchscreen but also didn't have a backlight KB. Or would have a backlight KB but not Full HD. So I decided enough of that crap. Went straight to Dell and found everything I wanted and was on sale for a $100 off too. Hit the jackpot, and with the iCore5 processor, this thing is fast. I have 2 other Dell Laptops that are 7 and 8 years old and still work great even with unsupported Win11 installed. I have a 10 year old desktop which is our main home computer running Win11 unsupported too. Dell computers just work. Won't buy any other brand and I have tried several other brands over the years. Thanks Dell for another great experience .

detailedReviews 10: content: I bought the Inspiron 15 as a work laptop and while it does work it's a bit wierd. the mouse randomly just stops responding (especialy right after startup) and every now and then a keyboard key stops working for a while. Also, certain programs treat my inputs completly differently than on other devices, with tapping and pressing the left click on the touchpad having different responses. Even if that was all just bad luck there are a few design choices i don't understand. The device has the physical strength and cooling system of a work/home use laptop, however it comes with 10 cores which drain power extremely quickly and 16GB RAM which seems overkill. One last thing that may or may not be the producers fault is that despite the iRISxe graphics being advertised for more power efficient neural network processors the battery life is slightly on the lower end and most AI don't respond any faster. Not worth the price unless you really need the 10 CPU cores.

detailedReviews 11: content: I’ve purchase Dells for years - and my last one lasted almost 10 years (with a couple of repairs along the way). But when it started slowing down again, I knew it was time to get a new one. I bought this computer on sale and got an excellent deal from BestBuy (and immediate delivery, there was a 2 week delay if purchasing direct from Dell). Very happy with it with two caveats: color viewed on screen has a yellow hue and the fan is noisy. The fan sound seems to have improved since I got it though (about 3 weeks ago). It also ran a little slow at first but once Microsoft updates were installed, that hasn’t been an issue. It’s responsive and works perfectly. I do wish the cover and area around the keyboard had a texture because it shows smudges easily but that’s not a big deal. I uninstalled “S” Microsoft mode so I wasn’t restricted on apps I could download which was very easy.

detailedReviews 12: content: The one star is not towards Best Buy at all, but towards Dell. The laptop stopped turning on two weeks after owning it. UBreakiFix was the repair facility for the issue as they are a Dell authorized repair center for warranty concerns like this. Ultimately, it took Dell two weeks to advise the failed components were on back order with no promise time and could not assist with an exchange in any way shape or form, despite this being solely for a remote work position and costing two weeks and counting of no income. Dell had no alternative solutions to resolve the defected unit and thankfully, after getting absolutely nowhere with Dell’s Resolution Team, Best Buy worked with me to exchange it for what I should have purchased initially, an HP laptop. Things happen, and things break, but you cannot leave a consumer with no option whatsoever shortly after a brand new purchased product has completely stopped working when there are replacement units everywhere. I will never purchase another Dell product after this experience.

detailedReviews 13: content: For those who often have multiple screens open at the same time, as I frequently do, this device is truly impressive! It allows for seamless switching between programs and websites, even across different browsers.
When I use it in my lap, it remains cool throughout the day. The cooling fan operates quietly and is barely noticeable, and the placement of the charging port is convenient for use in your favorite easy chair.
However, there are two features I wish this laptop had—features I hadn't considered useful before making the purchase. First, a backlit keyboard would be a valuable addition, especially when getting accustomed to a new keyboard layout. Second, the ability to fold it into a tablet configuration would enhance the usability of the touchscreen.

detailedReviews 14: content: I recently purchased the Dell laptop and so far I really do like it for most part. Got it on sale for $649.00. it's a touch screen, 16 GB and 1 TB hard drive. It has plenty of room for files and whatnot and you can even back up your old hard drive onto this hard drive. Startup could be a little bit better in reference of speed and setup. Microsoft edge is automatically installed and the predominant search engine. If you prefer Chrome you'll have to tweak it. Personally I think both operating systems should be on the laptops automatically. Schools typically use Chrome and I had to have it for my little man to do his homework this upcoming school season. I would give it a 4.4 to 4.5 overall. I've always been a big fan of Dell. Do wish it had better Video ram or VRAM.

detailedReviews 15: content: WARNING: If ordering a laptop, take a screenshot of the specs from the web page, check the specs with the sales team and keep all chat transcripts for your reference. Then, don't trust that you will get what you order! My experience: Starting a new job, Black Friday, needed to replace my 5 year old laptop that allowed me to use USB-C to plug into multiple displays at work and at home while charging the laptop. A long time Dell user, I found this Inspiron 15 3530, reviewed all configurations, all offered "USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C full function" and an "Aluminium exterior shell" (note: there was no plastic chassis option). I checked the manual, it said "For computers shipped with an aluminium chassis or a discrete graphics card installed" ... "USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-C) port with Power Delivery/DisplayPort. Connect devices such as external storage devices, printers, and external displays. Supports Power Delivery that enables two-way power supply between devices. Provides up to 15 W power output that enables faster charging". I used the chat function to check with Dell sales. They confirmed the laptop will have a "full Aluminium Chassis" and can charge the laptop and output to a 2nd display. I asked if it would work with the Dell 27" display with USB-C hub that I was to order with it, they confirmed that it would. Based on that I ordered the laptop. The laptop arrived, a plastic chassis. I set it up, connected the laptop to the screen got message on the screen "no USB-C signal from your device". I raised this with Dell Tech support. They informed me that I cannot output to a display using the USB-C connection, only the HDMI one. At this point, I have been in contact with >6 different people from Dell, needed to explain the issue several times and I am glad I kept records of all previous transcripts. They will not send me the laptop that I ordered to replace the incorrect laptop, I can only return the one that I got. Weeks have passed since I ordered the laptop and that this has been a huge waste of my time. I feel like a customer that was mislead and tricked by a Black Friday deal into buying from Dell. I will not order a Dell Laptop again.

detailedReviews 16: content: No complaints whatsoever. The product that arrives matches exactly the photos and specifications provided, at the agreed-upon price. This, I believe, is crucial in shopping. In today's world of increasingly complex services, what appears to be a good deal at first glance may not always be so. While honest business practices might not be the most profitable, as consumers, we must demonstrate the value of such integrity. Otherwise, it will eventually impact our own work. DELL sells standard products at fair prices, resulting in a good purchase overall. Though it may just be luck, I've never had a DELL product fail before its expected lifespan. I can confidently recommend DELL even to those buying their first PC, having only used smartphones before.

detailedReviews 17: content: Bought the inspiron a week ago. Was overheating to the point where the keys were too hot to touch. Customer service recommended to reduce this with cooling pads, but your laptop shouldn't be overheating in the first place? The fan was ridiculously loud just doing basic tasks, felt like I was by the beach. The speed was very good and I cant fault that. i have now bought a different brand with the same spec, same price with quieter fan noise and icecool thermal technology. The second day of having the laptop, it crashed 3 times with a black screen appearing. It felt like I had bought a refurbished laptop. detailedReviews 18: content: 1. This LAPtop cannot be used on your laps because it has ventilation holes in the bottom cover! 2. I bought this model especially because I used to work with the numeric keypad. Unfortunately there is no LED indicator that the keypad is in numeric or arrow mode. Extremely uncomfortable! 3. The cooler noise is very noticeable and cooler works almost always (I have the model with i7). Watching video at 720p on youtube (no other apps on) makes the cooler running. Scanning with McAfee antivirus (no other apps on) makes the cooler running at full power and the bottom cover so hot that it cannot be touched! 4. The sound quality through internal speakers is absolutely awful! Audio tuning using MyDell Console does not help. The sound is like a heavily overcompressed mp3. The sound quality through connected headphones is almost the same. 5. The USB 2.0 port at the right side is so tight that I thought first that it is blocked or damaged, then I checked the manual that it is the USB2.0, then I used a hammer to insert the mouse adapter there and it will be there forever as I will need a pliers to take it out. 6. There is a row of buttons on top of the numeric keypad to simulate a calculator. And a special key to switch the calculator on (to start a standard windows calculator app). Good idea! Surprisingly, the app starts not always, for example, when the standard windows notepad is open, - the calculator does not start by this key! Furthermore, the numeric keypad does not switch to in numeric mode automatically when you press the calculator key. Why?! 7. You always need two hands to open the laptop! The top cover has a unique shape and lifts the laptop up when you open it! Just imagine, you lift the laptop up by one hand (through the top lid and hinges) and press it down by other hand. I hope, Dell made a test how many open-close cycles the hinges will survive. 8. There is no arrows marking on the numerical keypad! 9. Finally, to deliver the laptop, Dell used a currier company which does not provide a timeslot when the parcel is expected to be delivered. I had to take one full day off work to wait for the delivery.

Our current laptop is a 4 year old Inspiron 15 (which still runs great) but is shared with my recently retired wife so we decided to get a new laptop (keeping the old one). The new laptop arrived quicker than I expected and was easy to setup, works great so far. It's perfect for my needs which includes some light gaming, web browsing and some office applications like Excel and Access. It's pretty light so good for on my lap and I like the keyboard (black with back light). Battery could be better but good enough. detailedReviews 20: content: When making my decision to buy this laptop, I knew the spec I wanted and what I wanted it to look like. This laptop is absolutely beautiful to look at and has what feels like a metal casing but I doubt it is so not really sure about that. It works like a dream. It has the backlit keyboard and fingerprint sensor which was two of the features that I really wanted. The keyboard is lovely to touch and feels generally nice. I also like the spill resistant keyboard, although I don't actually know what would happen if I did spill something on it, I just hope I don't have to experience it. It performs all tasks without any delay, even some computer games are great on here, although that is not the main function of purchasing this. The battery life is not brilliant but it suits my needs. I noticed some reviews were not happy with the but as I am a home user and mainly surf the internet, it's not an issue for me. The only problem that I have is the noise of the fan. I knew this would be an issue as other reviewers had mentioned this but I was hoping it would not be as bad. I have had other different brands of laptops and not one of them has had a fan as noisy as this. If the fan had been a bit more quiet, I would have given 5 stars. All in all, I am happy with this laptop, however, I do think it was a little pricey compared to other laptop brands.

detailedReviews 22: content: Hello.
I purchased an Inspiron 15 3530 from Dell's website, and once it was set up and updated it was diagnosed with fan issues because it never turned off and its speed was very high. They sent me another replacement laptop and it does exactly the same thing. I am currently waiting for the technical department to evaluate what the problem is with this particular model. In the meantime, the laptop is stored in its box.
I have had a Dell Inspiron 15 5510 for three years, and it does not have this problem, plus the plastics on the case are of better quality than the 3530.
I hope that the technical and design team evaluate what is happening with this equipment because it is disappointing to buy new equipment and find that it is defective.
Thank you.

detailedReviews 23: content: This has been one of the most frustrating laptop purchases I’ve made. The fan noise is excessively loud, even during light tasks like browsing or typing, and once it starts, it runs for hours without stopping. It seriously affects the ability to work in quiet environments.
To make things worse, the earphone port stopped working just two months after purchase. Despite multiple support interactions and even hardware replacements, these issues have not been resolved.
I expected much better quality and reliability from Dell. Unfortunately, this product has not lived up to those expectations.

detailedReviews 24: content: I am only a light user, have purchased this laptop about a month ago and have had little time in looking at some of the features compared with my previous 7 year old Dell Gaming Windows 10 Laptop.
Firstly I noticed how clear the graphics were in comparison to my previous Laptop.
It appears at the moment to do all of the things I hoped it would do albeit I have only had very limited time using it with a wireless connection and Internet as I do not currently have an Internet broadband connection where the laptop is situated.
Therefore, at the moment, this is the only review I can make albeit , like many others, I decided to change to the Windows 11 operating system, (previous old laptop Windows 10) and everything seems to be working seamlessly at the moment.
I have not yet had to contact Dell support but it is reassuring to know, for a free limited period, if I experience a problem, I am confident as I can be that they will be able to sort them out.

detailedReviews 25: content: I'm a retiree who volunteers with different groups to manage their websites. I also have a ton of family photos. My last laptop was the Inspiron 13-7378 and its memory is full-to-the-max. A nice machine but slow. Time to treat myself to this model. Gee whiz it's lightning fast!!! I would wish for a more focused utility to copy files and folders from my old PC to this one, but I got it accomplished the clunky way. I have a couple of concerns: 1) my mouse seems to skip around unpredictably, and this is happening no matter whether I use the pad or a cable or USB mouse. I've slowed down the action a bit, and that seems to help, but it's still occurring. 2) Edge menus make it harder to collapse the "ribbon" to view more of a webpage or document, and I don't see device settings that help with this; and 3) The screen width-to-height ratio is even wider than previously. On my former PC, parts of web pages were not accessible because of this, and this problem continues to be true (but worse) with this new PC. I want to note that many websites locate their "next" or "submit" buttons at the bottom of their pages - stupid, but whatever. I am using MS Edge most of the time and find it concerning that either websites don't size correctly, or my device settings don't compensate correctly. I frequently use Edge's zoom to access the bottom of webpages. Sometimes I have to zoom out so far that words on the pages are illegible. Yet I can't find a device setting to fix this problem. Other than that - WOW I love this machine! Didn't think I would like the 10-key to the right of the QWERTY keyboard, but I'm loving it.

detailedReviews 26: content: We use this to keep track of what is going on with our extended families. Doing family genealogical projects and church volunteer work. We have an older Inspiron 15 that couldn't be updated to Windows 11 necessitating a new purchase. There were a few items that I found lacking in the new unit. First, the old unit had a camera that was capable of doing facial recognition to sign in, new does not. Second the older unit 4 USB ports as the new one 2. The old unit had a built in DVD unit, had to pay extra for the new unit. I like that the new one has a larger viewing area and is lighter, probably due to fewer items being included. We are still getting used to all the new operations.

detailedReviews 27: content: I'll start with the positives - Very good CPU performance for a low power CPU. Respectable GPU performance, many older games can be played at medium settings. Keys have a nice feel to them, not to spongy. Slightly firm with nice little 'bump' to let you know you've pressed them. The touch screen works well, very responsive and accurace. Battery performance is good considering it's only a 3 cell battery, just don't run it at its highest performance all the time. The speakers are pretty decent and have enough volume for my uses. Not too heavy which is always nice. Good upgradability. The laptop has 2 RAM slots, one filled by the 8GB stick so upgrading to 16GB is easy enough. The SSD is in an M.2 NVMe slot so can be upgraded if you want. Many laptops come with soldered RAM and/or SSD's so this is a nice change. Now for the negatives - Heat! This is a HUGE issue with this laptop and a few other people have said the same. Just booting up will see your CPU hit 90c+, that's really not acceptable. Surfing the web the CPU with a few tabs open will frequently jump to 80-90c. A few times the laptop has actually restarted because it was overhearting. On one occasion it wouldn't even restart for 2 minutes until it had cooled down. Chaging any of the performance settings does nothing to prevent this issue. Just in case it was Dells bundled software I decided to re-install Windows from scratch on a new SSD which I installed. It did nothing to prevent the thermal issues. Until I try replacing the thermal paste, just in case that is the issue, I have had to use 3rd party software to limit the maximum temperature the CPU will reach. Sadly that means performance is reduced. I tried installing AMD Ryzen Master to see if undervolting/curve optimiser would help, the laptop blue screens as soon as that is installed. The only way to fix the problem without any 3rd party software is changing your power plan so that the maximum power state is at 99%. That prevents the CPU from boosting over the base clock speed so impacts performance massively. I don't even think replacing the thermal paste will fix it, I think it's just a poor cooler in this laptop. The screen is anough issue. 250 nits max brightness and 45% NTSC (around 63% sRGB) means colour accuracy isn't great and the image looks a little washed out. The SSD it comes with is bottom of the barrely. No DRAM cache (which isn't a big surprised) and is low endurance QLC NAND. It's a no-name brand so reliability is an unknown. I replaced the drive anyway so not an issue for me. Many new laptops have USB-C charging, even cheaper ones. This one doesn't which is a bit of a letdown but not a huge problem. All in all, this laptop could have been great. The only major issue that would make me advise people not to buy it is the thermal problems. If Dell could fix that, at the right price this laptop could be great. If you're OK with changing the power plan and running the CPU at reduced performance it may not be an issue for you.

detailedReviews 28: content: I have had 2 Dell Inspiron 15 laptops.
I have been very pleased with both.
Easy to navigate, well made, competitive pricing & dependable.
When my sister needed a new laptop I suggested she research computers before deciding to see which was most recommended & best fit her needs.
She did and said Dell Inspiron was actually one that was suggested. (Not sure what website she used, but it was an independent computer website , not Dell.) They offered 5 suggestions & Dell was 2 nd on the list. (The #1 suggestion cost over $2000.00 and
didn't see that it offered much more than the Dell did). My brother bought it for her as a gift. She's thrilled. Had the expected learning curve and needed a little help transferring her information onto the new one. But we are old and not computer savvy.

detailedReviews 29: content: Nice size screen (15") and easy to set up - it imported all my old laptop bookmarks, etc. on its own! I'm still trying to get used to the keyboard since it has an additional '"number pad" to the right which causes them to reduce the size of the other keys slightly (including the backspace key) and makes you type "off center" from the screen, which is not what I'm used to. It would be handy for people using lots of numbers thought. The mouse/touch pad is also slightly to the left so I'm always hitting the wrong part of that. Since I still use my old laptop, it will be difficult to adjust to this so I may just connect another keyboard and then things will be fine. The laptop has a decent amount of speed and memory, so it's fine otherwise!

detailedReviews 30: content: I finally replaced my 12 year old Inspiron 14 with an Inspiron 15. Needless to say, the updates over the years were amazing and I expected the 15 to far out-perform my old 14. However, I did not anticipate how much more advanced it was. It has lightening speed, even with my slow as crap cable internet. I easily transitioned from Windows 10 to 11, not a whole lot of changes but took a little getting accustomed to. The 14 has a CD ROM, which the 15 does not have, making it much thinner and lighter. I absolutely love that as carrying the 14 around with all of my accessories was getting a bit tiring. The screen is beyond amazing, not a touch, but crystal clear with vivid colors. I thought I was just "updating" my computer, but found that I have a whole new beast in the Inspiron 15!

Time will tell how it stands up but for the price this is a good deal. This is my first deal into an AMD processor the computer runs cool . I haven't found any issues with what I do As opposed to use an Intel processor.
The processor seems very fast. Any electronic device if you can keep the temperature down it's always a plus As with this unit. And finally a a reasonable battery life.

detailedReviews 32: content: The description was misleading and this does not work with multiple monitors via usb-c. It says it does not support this function with integrated graphics and only with discrete graphics. However, there were only two graphics options available with one saying it was shared and the other didn't note anything. After researching why it wouldn't work, apparently Dell considers both of these options discrete graphics. So, why make the above statement in the description when there is actually no option to even select discrete graphics for a full function usb-c? It is deceptive and misleading to make it appear otherwise. When I requested to return the machines due to this, I couldn't even get a response from Dell.

detailedReviews 34: content: This is my fourth Dell Inspiron laptop. They last about 2 1/2 - 3 years. I only use it for emails, shopping online, etc. The main reason I gave it 3 stars is the socket for a computer mouse is on the left-hand side which is so inconvenient for right-handed people, so you have to wrap the cord around the back of the computer. Also, the plastic casing of the computer has gotten much cheaper and thinner. I am not optimistic that this new laptop will last more than 2 years. This almost seems like a toy computer. My main reason for staying with Dell is I am so familiar with its operational components and the ease of transferring photos, files, etc. I am sure it's not the worst computer on the market, but it sure isn't the best one either.

The one complaint I have is that it runs very hot even when doing nothing (like reading a word document), and the fans are always blaring on full blast. It sounds like an airplane trying to take off and it really hurts my ability to focus sometimes. This is despite me installing the latest drivers and BIOS from Dell.
Overall though, the heating/fan noise is a problem with nearly all Dell machines and I've made peace with it. Other than that, I am happy with my purchase. It's probably the best new laptop in this budget, especially with Dell's student discount.

detailedReviews 36: content: Very good laptop for the price. it is fast (I have the one with the AMD Ryzen 7 and 16 GB of RAM) and deals with tasks easily (MS Office apps, light photo editing and coding). The battery last for a vry long time. Also, I love the feeling of the track pad. And finally, it is not too noisy in normal use. The fan can make noise when the computer is heavily solicited or when the battery is charging but it is expected and perfectly acceptable. I didn't put the maximum number of stars just because I don't like the way the computer rest on the bottom of the screen when you open it. Moving the screen changes the angle of the laptop. I'm not sure about the long term effect of the extraction vents being towards the screen on the screen itself. Finally, I understand that for the price we can't expect the keyboard to be backlit or the power button to have a nice halo to show it is On but It would be nice to have at least an LED we can check to know if the computer is On or on stand by or off. I found myself pressing the On button a couple of times because nothing was showing that the computer was turning on and there was no noise from it or nothing on the screen (the DELL logo appears only later)

But a few days later when I tried to save several files, I found that he didn't replicate the file/directory structure from the old PC. I have to go to my old PC and write down its file/directory structure and try to replicate the old file/directory structure. My only complaint is the 10-key pad. It defaults to num-lock off yet it does not have the secondary key functions (home, end, page up, page down, etc.) on the keys as does the Latitude. Also, there is not an indicator light on the num-lock key, again as the Latitude does.

I really like the size and weight of the new laptop. Touchscreen and keypad are very responsive. Speed is fine for me, I don't do gaming. I purchased the Dell Migrate. Had some issues with that and ended up calling Dell Support, but finally got things transferred. Two things are very negative for me. 1) the laptop fan runs constantly and, at least for me, is too loud. I have it sitting on a wire rack so I know it is getting enough air under the laptop, but still runs all the time. 2) Also, when on video conference (Zoom) meetings, the lighting is horrible. Even when I add my own lighting, the laptop picture will automatically change darker. Never had this problem with the old laptop. I'm sure there is a work around, I just haven't found it yet. The angle of view of the screen is very obtuse and, as has always been my experience with Dell monitors, the display is crisp and flawless. I was already feeling that I was getting good value for money. Everything works as it should do given the product specifications and in particular, the boot time is very rapid. In addition, I expect the performance will improve even further as Dell have incorporated a spare RAM port and I believe the SSD drive is upgradable also. This was a significant selling point for me. Having only used the laptop for a a couple of weeks so far I am still familiarising myself with the new operating system but as yet I have not experienced a single issue with any of the hardware or software. Also really miss the 3rd USB port as one was used for wireless mouse one for an external hard drive and spare for accessories. It also had a CD drive which I used for my work. Nice looking and quieter but does not really appear much quicker or easier to use. Thought it would have improved more in past 8 years though I am not a techie. Set up support offered from Dell did not appear great having paid extra for transferring data and very little 'general help info' from Dell upon delivery. Impressed by next day delivery. Main criticism would be the very sharp edges to the top cover hinge corners which are alarming and whole hinge design 'lifts up' main keyboard off desk when open which seems odd. I called Dell within the thirty days and they walked me through trying to reinstall the OS and everything they could to fix it on my end, but no dice. I inquired about a replacement and they agreed, but then told me the laptop I had ordered was no longer available and the only replacement they could give me was inferior to the one I had... for the same price. Less of a computer for the same price, and they were unwilling to give me any kind of deal. No one was willing (or able) to replace with something a little better rather than inferior. So we sent it back and got this one, which was a little less money and a little smaller and slower. I've never had a company offer less of a replacement for the same price.

detailedReviews 52: content: This is a great laptop for those wanting something that will make studying a breeze - this laptop will do that.
It can connect to a standard HD 60hz monitor - via the HDMI port, but trying to extend beyond that with more monitors- you may as well forget that idea, as its a nightmare trying to achieve that. The USB-C port is only for data, it will not do video. There is workarounds to achieve multiple displays, but they are costly, and you may as well look at another model that has a seperate GPU.
Other then the aforementioned, if all you need is a basic machine to study on or surf the internet, then this machine is ideal.

detailedReviews 53: content: This was bought for my wife. It's got a nice GPU for the money, plenty of storage and an i5 for basic office/surfing/watching whatever is a very capable set up. It's 15.6" so larger than some like for transporting but not a problem here. Being that size and with its spec means overheating is hardly an issue. The screen is a nice aspect ratio with the above in mind (she finds). She has also not mentioned about connecting an external monitor, for watching whatever, so even that side is proving a good experience. I've had a couple of Dell computers and my expectations have always been met by Dell.

detailedReviews 54: content: This laptop works great. I didn't take hours to set up. It did take a few minutes to start up the first time but no big deal. The screen looks great and the touch sensitive feature works well. The keyboard and mouse are both wireless but are ordinary looking. For the price of this laptop I expect a bit nicer keyboard and mouse. Other than what comes out of the built-in speakers the computer is SILENT; I hear a fan running loudly only sometimes or even a peep out of the hard drive. Because it's all-in-one there's no bulky tower to sit under the desk. The screen size is really nice. Games played great without any problems - graphics looked smooth and fast. This machine may not suit the serious games player or someone looking for huge processing power but so far it has not had any problems running the run-of-the-mill stuff my family needs. All in all, a great computer for the price!

detailedReviews 55: content: I’ve been using this laptop for over a week now, and so far it’s been working very well. It is fast as is, but I’ll probably upgrade the ram later onâ€"upgradability was something I wanted in a laptop. The touchscreen is nice to have and works well. I’ve played sims 4 on it with medium graphics and it works well but has a bit of lag when changing from live to build mode. It also runs down the battery in about 2 hours, and the laptop gets pretty warm so the fans stay on the entire time. The battery is decent otherwise, but it still isn’t long lasting just doing regular work. The build quality is decent and the display isn’t the best but for the price(and so far I’ve only seen it on sale), you have to sacrifice some things. I haven’t tried the camera or speakers, but I don’t need to use either of them really, just my Bluetooth earbuds for sound work for me. Anyway, I enjoy my new laptop, and just hope it lasts for a few years.

detailedReviews 56: content: The machine is an improvement in some areas compared to my 7th generation Dell Inspiron. It has Windows 11, which is good. There are some properties/attributes I miss from my older Dell. The most frustrating issue with the new Inspiron is there is no facial recognition for sign in. I just assumed the PC would have the same sign in options as my older PC. I have to either enter a PIN or fingerprint. Disappointing. I have to get used to Windows 11 processing, so finding files is a little different. I do not like the numbers on the right on the key board. I was used to only using numbers at the top of the keyboard. Now I have to relearn typing on my keyboard. All the keys are out of order the the numerical pad taking up real estate that was once dedicated to other keys.

I bought for home/leisure use as I have an Dell laptop at work which is excellent but is as I have now learned, is heavily supported by my employers ICT department. I found there was lots of software on it I did not want or asked for which my son calls 'bloat ware'!. I have given to my student son to use who is actually studying computer engineering and he is happy with it but I suppose he knows how to streamline it. detailedReviews 58: content: I'm mostly happy with my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop, but I do have a couple of things that I'm not happy with. The most annoying is that the touchpad is far too sensitive to incidental contact from my thumbs/palms during typing. Even though I've gone into the touchpad settings and chosen the lowest sensitivity setting, the touchpad still causes far too frequent erratic mouse/pointer behavior. Sometimes moving the cursor location during editing of documents; sometimes causing the focus to jump between open windows; and other erratic behavior. My other disappointment is that the laptop power-on/off button does not have any icon or indicator on it. To an unfamiliar user, it is not clear where the power button is located, or how to power-up the laptop.

detailedReviews 63: content: This is a nice, basic workhorse type PC for school and office work. Good speeds, reasonable thermals, expandable RAM at a nice price point. Touch screen is also quite decent, works well at a price point you wouldn't expect. I would say the hinge/opening mechanism needs a redesign, though. Too difficult to open with one hand, and plastic hinges tend to be fragile. Screen is solid but doesn't get too bright Our biggest issue was the keyboard. It's black keys on black chassis with dim letters and no backlighting. Unless you are in a brightly lit room or outdoors on a sunny day they can be very difficult to read. Just because it'll always be asked: do not get this for games beyond simple parlor titles, it is an ultrabook and has a very low TDP to share between CPU and iGPU.

When I was first setting it up, I would type yet see no letters. I had to call this in and some missing drivers had to be downloaded to fix the problem. Since then, I have been impressed with the performance but, 3 times now I have been unable to start it up again. I would have to do a hard start and finally was able to get it working. detailedReviews 67: content: Runs hotter than expected, and that's even after uninstalling all the bloatware. McAfee, really, in this day and age you're still pushing that company? I wish Dell wouldn't burden their install images with optional software, not even office promo offers, but rather start clean and let customers decide what additional promotional installs to add (maybe an order option to ship a "lean" image, or preinstalled bells and whistles image). Having to remove junk shouldn't be the first thing I have to do on a new system. Part of the temp issue seems to be poor venting for actually using the system as a "lap" top since bottom vents can easily be obstructed if not careful. I might expect this if I was doing extended high CPU work like compiling large projects or rendering video, etc, but I was surprised at how warm it gets when just browsing the internet and using email. Otherwise it performs as expected and I'm satisfied so far with the purchase.

However I had that one for about 8 years and it needed replacing! Even after adjusting the Dell Optimizer to "Quiet" mode. It reduced the fan noise, but it's still fantastically loud. 4. These lift hinges look like they were designed to break. I am NOT a millennial who grew up with computers and I'm used to calling my company Help Desk for everything - but this was very easy to set up. I found answers to all my questions online and had no issues connecting it to a monitor, keyboard, etc and gaining access to Microsoft office applications. Anyone who wants a solid device for home use should consider this laptop which is great value for the price. The only thing I'm a bit cautious about is the hinge; the design is unusual, and it seems like it might not take rough handling. A student review mentioned carrying it class-to-class in a backpack with books which seems like a bad idea. But for desktop or laptop use and occasional transport on vacation it's just fine. detailedReviews 76: content: This is a solid midrange laptop. It's lightweight, runs Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 apps with ease, and starts quickly. Screen is clear and bright, and the webcam is moderate quality. The USB-C connection allows charging and supports a displayport, so can work as a single umbilical cord with a docking station. Small downsides: The webcam doesn't support Windows Hello, and the fingerprint reader is placed on the power key. This has two impacts: Firstly the power key is blank and missing a power label, and secondly if you tell in inexperienced user to press the fingerprint scanner, they will press the button down (rather than gently touch it) and put the laptop to sleep rather than login. But if you don't use any of the Windows Hello functionality (or touch gently) you won't notice this.

detailedReviews 81: content: Unfortunately, we find ourselves extremely dissatisfied with the product we have bought (an Inspiron 15 3530), and the service we are now receiving in trying to remedy this. Our biggest problem is that the laptop runs incredibly hot, making it extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable to type. Besides this, the Wifi reception is patchy compared to other systems we have, and we have also had issues with basic operations such as browsing. Flagging this within 14 days of purchase, we have tried to return the laptop for a full refund. However as we are a very small company (1 part time employee) and therefore bought as a business customer, we are meeting a brick wall of resistance against any refund. I'm painfully adapting to Windows 11 and not liking the new features that prioritize OneDrive as the default location for documents. I purchased Dell's additional support for 2 years which I don't normally do. The upgrade price was reasonable. A lot of bang for the buck!

detailedReviews 84: content: I needed a basic laptop for web browsing. I thought any Dell laptop should be fine. I was wrong. I knew it's a cheaper configuration but I didn't expect it to be so noticeably slow. Sometimes I don't see what I type. Sometimes no mouse cursor. Connection to WiFi is slow too. It came with a defected power adapter. Dell send me a new power supply. I bought two laptops from black Friday. Both had good deals. I regret I returned the other one which worked better.

detailedReviews 85: content: It's a MEH laptop. So when I purchased this I was drawn by the specs of 16 GB RAM i5 processor and 512 GB SSD.
But within 2 weeks of usage I feel it's a very OK laptop. I have already noticed the battery life isn't great. It says about 4.5 hours of battery left and I think it about 3 hours.
It doesn't have Backlit keyboard which us huge let down.
It requires me to press the power button 2 to 3 times to actually see if the PC has powered on. This is not a great laptop

detailedReviews 86: content: This model was purchased to replace a 2016 Inspiron. Due to declining vision issues, ease of use and visually user friendly screen were important. I was not able to see this model locally. This new version is about a pound lighter in weight and thinner. The touch screen and screen clarity are good. The processor is good--similar to the i7 I had. The thin edge screen seems to limit access to some detail on right side of screen. The keyboard is tactile friendly. It is backlit but needs to be brighter even at it's brightest setting. The contrast on the keys also needs improvement--the letters and symbols should be bolder and whiter--not an improvement over 2016.

detailedReviews 87: content: This is the biggest piece of junk and I can't believe I paid almost $700 for it! It's super slow and I consistently get "page unresponsive" messages while my old laptop next to it loads the same pages with no issues. Whenever it updates, it always gets stuck and I have to force a shutdown. The trackpad is extremely sensitive and if you don't press exactly in the lower left corner the right-click menu pops up! It overheats and the fan is super loud! Definitely have buyer's remorse!

detailedReviews 88: content: I am a Dell user for a long time, for both personal and business. But I am disappointed at both service and quality.
poor delivery beyond expected delivery, poor support and replies
Regarding the product. Big downgrade in quality
Poor construction. Vent at bottom. Non stop loud fan. Gets very hot. USB on right side too tight. Same complaints made by others, but still sold defective product?!?! Can't even test it further due to delayed delivery.

detailedReviews 89: content: The laptop was fine, until Windows update. The system failed to boot. Currently in system reinstall procedure. Dell support was great, and made several efforts before boot failure diagnosis. We don't know if there is some hidden issue with the SSD. Last Dell laptop is still working after 6 years, but replaced for security reasons. Will do some additional hardware testing having had this crash. But, if testing fails to produce another crash, I'll be happy.

detailedReviews 90: content: I bought this for my son for college. He needed a reliable, practical computer to do school work. After a few weeks the keyboard stopped working. We had to buy a wireless keyboard to hook up so he could do his work. We sent it back to DELL for repair. It took about a week to send back, repair and then receive it back again. Took repaired computer to class and after a day the keyboard stopped working again! Inexcusable! Now had to send back again to repair. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED

detailedReviews 91: content: Overall I would say this is a decent machine. It looks good, has nice sleek form. It doesn't have the sturdier build quality of my previous work Dell Latitude laptop, but for home and moderate business use I would say it's fine. It gets quite hot and the cooling fan is on a lot and can be noisy. The MacAfee pop ups are annoying and seem unnecessary given that windows has its own security suite. Overall I would say this a good mid budget level laptop.

detailedReviews 92: content: I had a Dell Inspiron 5500 for many years. I loved it. Within the last year or so, it started having some problems with screen glitching. I got it repaired but recently it started doing the same thing again. So instead of spending more money on repairs that are not cheap, I finally decided it was time for a new one. So of course after so many years of being satisfied with the old one, I had to get another Dell Inspiron. I've only had it for less than a week but so far I am loving it. It is very sleek and lightweight. It is fast and does everything I need it to do. The only con so far (and this is not Dell's fault) is I had to switch from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Not really loving that yet. I guess I will get used to it in time. Thank you Dell for putting out such great products.

detailedReviews 93: content: Decent enough computer, comfortable layout, good speed, easy enough to set up if you already had one before. Touch screen works well, the # pad on the side is great. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the sound for calls is absolutely horrible. You must use a headset and not the speakers. The same goes for watching movies on it. That said though, catch it on a sale like I did and its a good investment.

Excellent Laptop & Great Service from Best Buy!
I recently purchased a Dell - Inspiron 15” Touch Screen,Intel Core I5,Memory (RAM): 8GB,512GB SSD from Best Buy and I couldn’t be happier with both the product and the shopping experience. The laptop is fast, sleek, and performs exactly as advertised. Whether it’s multitasking, video conferencing, or light gaming, it handles everything smoothly with no lag.

detailedReviews 95: content: I love the computer, I have always used Dell. I purchased a new one because lines were appearing on my screen. I have one complaint, please advise your sales team to be very clear with regards to Windows 11. Yes ONLY Windows 11 is installed and Not the Windows Office so one cannot open any word documents once you have transferred your data from your old computer to the new DELL computer. Not very nice for old pensioners like me as most of us are not computer smart and believe that everything comes together. Computer is fantastic, sales pitch no so much.

detailedReviews 96: content: Practical, usable, recommended by my computer friend. Good for domestic use, probably more.
Don't need the numerical keyboard which makes the laptop wider.
Dislike intensely the inbuilt MacAfee programme which I haven't signed up to so reminds me every day - can't disable it.
Also a (default?) browser which I don't use.
Battery lasts about 12 or so hours so I have to plug in daily.
However generally quite content.

detailedReviews 97: content: I have been using dell laptops and desktops since late 80's, when there were DOS and windows 3.1. 95, 98 etc. operation systems. I have experienced more than 9 different Dell models, and this is probably the fastest in terms of downloading, sending data in terms of speed. I have always preferred pro version of Windows. The laptop, Inspiron, is light in weight and boots up very quickly. I have not noticed any delay for all the work I do on it. My only criticism would be the lack of USB ports.

Purchased a Dell in 2014 and it was an everyday computer and work, it lasted for six years, finally bought another computer and was lead to buy some other than Dell and it was junk from the start. I nursed it along for four years but did not perform anywhere near the previous Dell. This new Dell and accessories are awesome, will never buy anything but Dell going forward.

detailedReviews 99: content: Stop buying from Dell. The markup for implied service isn't worth the absolute waste of time customer support is. The agents have zero executive power. Dell overcharges for implied support, yet doesn't give it. The "rewards program" is an absolute hoax and you must "opt in" to get the measely 2% in the first place. They will not retroactively impliment thousands of dollars in purchases toward the rewards program because you didn't click a button.

detailedReviews 100: content: This is an amazing laptop! Is fast and I love the keyboard layout and how the keys click. I hadn’t upgraded my laptop in around 10 years. I had an Acer before this that I hated. Dell is a good and trusted brand I can always count on. I sometimes have to use it for work and I’m remote and I work a busy job with lots of programs opened. It works wonderfully, no lagging. I’ve had it 2 weeks now. I’m very happy with my purchase.
