detailedReviews: detailedReviews 1: content: Product Quality:The Sony A6400 has a sturdy build that comes at the cost of added weight. The exterior design is simple but sharp. The silver units were no longer available, by the way, and I've already wrapped mine with a dark gold film as seen in the picture.
Performance:This camera is feature packed and it's Auto-Focus Continuous (tracking) is its best selling feature. The only downside to this camera is the lack of In-Body Image Stabilization so consider that when getting another lens (or go for fast shutter speeds if you can).
Best Feature:The wireless transfer to phone is very convenient. Video and audio quality is excellent as well.
This camera is competitively priced compared to the local market tag. Note, however, that this has no local warranty. Seller has offered 1 year warranty but the unit will have to be shipped back to Hong Kong. Clarify with seller before buying. The product was sealed when delivered and no defects were found up to now (nearly 1 month since delivered). Accessories were complete and the manual is written in English. It would, however, be more appreciated if the parcel was wrapped with a waterproof material as mine came with the brown box shown in the picture. Fortunately, the parcel arrived earlier than expected with no signs of damage (no dent nor liquid splashes). Thank you seller! Will consider your shop again in the future.

detailedReviews 2: content: It's been a long time between Sony cameras because my last one did everything I needed, but tech moves on. Although this isn't the current this is great value. I've had it a month and for most of that time I've been travelling. This is the worthy successor to my A55slt. Light, smart, vid and still, amazing low light no flash (Museums and art galleries) charges well (buy the travel charger for a smaller block and longer cable) handled Arctic cold.
Sure a longer battery life would be great, and the small body won't please people with big hands, but it's agile.
The power zoom kit lens is a good all rounder.
Negs. Auto has had some moments struggling with white balance resulting in some snow pis being very blue. The menu is complex, spend some time pulling out your most accessed functions into the favourites.
I do miss 2 things my A55 had. The reversible back screen and the strap The new strap is plastic scratchy vs my old one with a woven edge.

detailedReviews 3: content: Bought this camera for two reasons - backpacking and portrait photography.
Backpacking: 5/5
-Weather resistant. I bought this camera over the older 6000 models because the material felt more durable.
-Very lightweight! I added a Peak Capture Clip to my backpack for easy access and it worked out amazingly.
-Focal range on the 16-50mm included lens is great for landscapes
-Love the flip-out screen for selfies
-Fantastic auto-focus! This was a huge step-up from my Canon Rebel T6 DSLR.
Portraits: 4/5
-Color science is not as strong as Canon cameras. There is a slight green tint to all my photos.
-Eye tracking is FANTASTIC. I can count the lashes on my clients for most photos.
-Included lens is good (but not great) for indoor light scenarios. Lower apertures (f/1.8 - f/3.5) have worked better for me in eliminating noise indoors.
-You'll probably want to get a better lens for portraits
For the pricepoint, it's a great deal. The downsides for this camera are really just that you don't get a full-frame and there is no IBIS. You'll need to keep crop-factor in mind when purchasing lenses.

detailedReviews 4: content: Camera is OK. Use it for travel, small size with small lenses, compared to full frame.
Video record button size and placement is terrible.
Auto focus at an airshow was terrible - had to revert to manual. (too much hunting for focus.)
Phone/computer connection software is terrible.
Menu system on camera is frustrating.
Extended viewing screen cannot move left or right (just up ans down - not bad for selfy.)
Camera take good pictures, relatively small, good for travel, unobtrusive, accessories & additional lenses reasonably priced.
Got the Camera on sale so OK with shortcomings but next version - a6700 is a premium jump in price.
If your really serious about photography go full frame.

detailedReviews 5: content: So I bought this camera at 2020 back in China. This year I came to England to study. It was all good until I came here, I even use it to took some pictures when I make my connection in Dubai. When I arrived in England, suddenly the panel buttons are all messed up. Buttons supposed to adjust the exposure now direct to replay page, and it happened to several buttons. Now since it’s hard to get this machine fixed in my city, I have mailed it to the Sony technology center in Bridgend, still don’t know how much they’re gonna charge me for this repair. I’m confused because I didn’t do anything to damage the camera, this problem just occurred, and if I find out about it earlier, it would be cheaper to repair this back in China. Now I’m just waiting for email after they make a fully assessment about my camera, dying to take some beautiful photos of the astonishing view of England.

detailedReviews 7: content: The camera itself was great, and is still very good. However, it's been almost 5 years since it's had a firmware update, so it's already been abandoned by Sony. There are always ways to improve a product after release, but they've chosen not to do so. In fact, it's gotten worse. The companion (phone) app has been replaced by one that doesn't work at all. It's not that it's clunky or unintuitive, it straight-up doesn't work (1.8 rating on the store). The menu system in the camera still refers to the old app (again, because the firmware is 5 years old), which is probably why the new app doesn't work.
This camera was released February 2019. The last firmware update was June 2019. Meaning that Sony supported this camera for a total of 4 months, which is disgusting. Overall, I've spent about $5000 on this ecosystem, but I'm very likely to switch to Fujifilm or Canon. Either way, I'm obviously not spending any more on products that aren't supported. They seem to support the full-frame cameras better, but having that size/weight of camera defeats the entire point of mirrorless. I'd advise against anyone buying any Sony photography gear.

detailedReviews 9: content: I'm sure this camera is great as all the reviews indicate, but this is more about Best Buy and their service. First, I ordered the a6400 and it showed up two days later. Problem was, the box was open, there was no packing to protect the camera, and the camera packaging itself was damaged. Sure enough, when inspecting the camera, the viewfinder was shattered. Now comes the fun part. Returning the camera. I elected to do it via the BB Chat, because I was wasting time going through all the prompts on the phone. Trying to actually get to a human seemed futile. So after a lengthy chat, I was told that a replacement camera was on its way and would arrive today. No dice. So I checked my BB account, and found that the replacement order was cancelled. So now, I'm going through the prompts again to speak to a human. When I finally do, I was told that the backend team, whoever that is, cancelled the order and that I will have to wait for the returned camera to arrive to BB, get the refund, and re-order. I'm trying to give BB a grand and boy do they make it hard. First off, how do you sell a thousand dollar camera and put it in a box twice the camera's size and not provide and packing material? The box also had no tape to seal it. It's some sort of box that has it's own adhesive that obviously didn't do well in colder temps. Anyway, like I said at the beginning, I'm sure the camera is great, but like all the big box stores, the service is garbage. Serves me right, I suppose.

detailedReviews 10: content: There is a lot to learn, but the default settings are fine. I have explored and I now think I know how to use the various settings. It takes phenomenal pictures. My main grizzle is that, despite 30 year career in IT, I can't get either "Links to SmartPhone" and "Send to computer" facilities to work. PlayMemories Mobile does not exist on the Apple AppStore, though are some suspicious similar apps. The Wifi Connect feature asked me to "press WPS button to access". I happened to know this button is on my router. It tried to connect but just hung. Instead I just remove the SD memory card as always, but you can also plug in a cable to your computer. A camera case option should have been offered at the same time. Note that it is heavier and bigger than a compact camera. Irritatingly, the camera comes with 12 pieces of paper and booklets, each of which you have to check before you throw them away.

But it is wonderful for still photography, especially when you get to know the features and how to use them. The photos are crisp and beautiful. detailedReviews 13: content: Decided a few months ago to treat myself to a new camera. After a lot of research, opted for this one as it ticked a lot of my requirements. Paid £900 expecting it to be a big improvement on my 10yr old Nikon which I paid £300. So far I’m hugely disappointed. They’re a few things I’m not happy with, the main one being, I still haven’t fathomed out how to transfer my pictures onto my iPad via Bluetooth. I’ve tried to get the required app but end up getting directed to apps which require payment.
Another issue was trying to get the extended warranty, after an initial complicated set up I was given a code to activate it which didn’t work. Got in touch via Email, they wanted more proof/information off me than what was initially required. I gave them exactly what they wanted but then they decided they wanted the code that didn’t work. Unfortunately my knowledge of digging deep into cyberspace is beyond my capabilities…..several Emails on, I’m still no further forward. All for 1yrs extra warranty…..

When focusing in, it actually zooms in really close to help you adjust the focus, but then it won't let you take the picture like that for some reason. The digital zoom is next to nothing. detailedReviews 15: content: It's a great camera overall. Lots of options, sharp images, fast autofocus while filming. Great quality image, even in fairly dark settings. Very fast at taking pictures when set for continuous snapshot while holding the button down. The biggest down side, however, is that it doesn't have the best audio recording when filming. Not only is the sound not great, it's also unbalanced. By that, I mean it makes the kind of video in which you'd have to turn the volume up and down because some parts are louder and lower than others. Or you can edit the video, split the audio tracks into sections, and raise the volume on some parts and lower it on others. I also don't like the way I look in this camera as much as I did in one of it's older models, a5000. That's why I still have both. Otherwise, it's great!

detailedReviews 21: content: Upgraded to Sony a6400 from a Sony a5000 in July 2023 - so far I've found the a6400 to be a very capable new camera and a great upgrade from my old camera even several years beyond its first release date (and with the new a6700 just coming out around this time).
Autofocus is great and fast, I've really liked having the viewfinder and tend to use it more for photos now. I've found it a little confusing to find the right settings to adjust ISO and the shutter speed in different shooting modes, but that's more on me getting used to it. The body feels like it's set at a good weight and it is distributed well across the camera with different sized lenses (I've used Sigma 16mm and 56mm f1.4 lenses on it so far), and like the grip/how it sits in the hand for shooting.
I did purchase this camera as a Body Only with the accessories bundle from B&H. The included SD card was a 64gb Sandisk Extreme Pro, which complements my other SD cards well (I already had the same Extreme Pro card in 32gb, 128gb, and 256gb storage capacities). [Note the camera has only 1 sd card slot though]. I liked the camera bag it came with as well - I think it was a Think Tank Photo Retrospective 7M. Comfortably holds my camera with two lenses, a digital camera I also use, and my extra batteries and a tablet.
Overall, very satisfied with my experience with the camera and buying from B&H!

detailedReviews 23: content: I got this body as I was looking for a crop MILC with E-mount (as another member of my family already has E-mount lenses I can borrow). That doesn't leave a lot of options, but I thought the a6400 would still be a good option. I was wrong.
Let's start with the good. Sony is still one of the best options when it comes to dynamic range. And, being a MILC, you have a nice and short flange to focal distance--only 18mm for E-mount bodies. However, that's where the pros end and the cons begin.
The two most frustrating of these are the star eater, which affects astrophotographers like myself, and the lack of lossless raw, which affects anyone who would like the option. The former is well documented, and although things are not as bad as they were when it was first introduced, it's still an issue to this day. For this reason, I'm still using my old Canon DSLRs for astro, despite the fact that their decade or older sensors are not nearly as good as modern ones. I knew about this before buying as was willing to forgo astrophotography on this body, as frustrating as that is.
The other issue, the lack of lossless raw, is much more annoying and likely affects a lot more people. The lossy compression of Sony's raw files cannot be turned off in the a6400, unlike in their FF bodies that I've also shot (the a7R II and a7R IV). For some reason, Sony appears to reserve this 'feature' only for their FF bodies, which is annoying to those of us that prefer to shoot on crops.
Other annoyances from much earlier Sony bodies have continued for generations, and are still present in the a6400. For example, the ergonomics are terribly, as the camera is really too small to grip comfortably, and the grip itself is poorly shaped. My Canon 450D and 600D, both larger bodies, are much more comfortable to operate and hold. Another issue with the small body is that it necessitates a small battery, exacerbated by the fact that MILC use up power faster than their DSLR ancestors. Carrying two batteries with me at all time is a requirement, not an option, as it was with the Canon DSLRs.
Software wise, Sony's menus are still atrocious, and they have been for some time. Numerous reviews of earlier bodies have made similar remarks, and yet years later this is still a problem? With a company of Sony's size, this should have been fixed in the second generation of bodies, or even before the first was released. Plan to spend several hours customizing the cameras settings before you can use it easily when you actually go out to shoot.
Although I plan to mostly use the body for stills, I definitely wanted the option of shooting UHD video with it as well. While the a6400 does feature some nice things when shooting video (e.g. BT.2020 and HLG), it has some major flaws as well. The first of these is the awful rolling shutter. This is painfully apparent on any sort of rapid motion, where things turn to jello when moving horizontally across the screen. The UHD video modes offer both 24p and 30p, the latter of which is a crop (which does reduce the rolling shutter). While that's likely out of necessity, it begs the question: why is there no 24p crop mode? This would let you shoot 24p with less rolling shutter, but isn't offered.
The second issue with video is you are stuck with 8-bit limited range (only 220 levels of gray). Wide gamut, HDR video sorely needs 10-bit to avoid banding issues, ideally with the option to record in full range (1024 levels of gray). This simply isn't available on the a6400. For this reason, as well as the rolling shutter, I suggest you look elsewhere if you're serious about shooting video.
I considered returning the body, but as I really want something that's both E-mount and crop, there simply aren't any other options in that space that are better. It's not a feeling you want when you buy a new body.

detailedReviews 25: content: I am comparing this camera with my old DSLR Nikon D5500 that has the same sensor size, same number of pixels and overall comparable set of features. I also used very comparable zoom lenses. Considering that Nikon is 6 years old and cost less, I expected to get at least as good image quality from the new Sony a6400.
Here is what I have in fact after doing extensive side by side
comparison:
* SONY tends to use higher ISO at the same conditions, and even at the same ISO its images are noisier (I used fine and extra-fine settings). Essentially, it cannot be used for indoor photography without a flash even in a very light room.
* Bokah effect is more pleasing in case of Nikon than in SONY in most cases. For those unfamiliar, this is the aesthetic quality of washed up background in the pictures with selective focus. And when you have a zoom lens 18-135, you definitely will use selective focus for portraits etc.
* The use of touch screen is very limited in the SONY. There is no easy way of scrolling the pictures and zooming by using usual touch-screen gestures.
A couple of observations unrelated to the Nikon/SONY comparison.
* There are wifi and blue tooth connection features, but they are buggy and pretty much don't work. The app needed for transferring photos is not even available anymore.
* As a positive point, I can mention very detailed menu with a lot customization.
Altogether, I do not recommend this camera, at least as an upgrade.

The 18-135 lens option is fantastic. You should either go for this one or body only and pick up your own lens. The 18-50 option is kinda meh. I picked up that lens secondhand due to its tiny size and totally regret it. The 18-135 is better in every way and gives you an extremely versatile focal length. I have had 2 issues. Occasionally when I tap the screen for focus tracking, it gets stuck and won’t cancel so I have to switch focus settings to get out or turn it off and back on. It only takes a moment and since I’m not a professional this doesn’t severely impact me in any way but if this camera was my income I’d maybe send it back. The other thing is the janky Sony imaging edge mobile app. Wish Sony would invest in making that experience better. Everything else about the camera is fantastic. Incredible autofocus, insanely fast burst, lens options, surprisingly comfortable body, compact for travel. There’s a lot to like and I plan on keeping it for a while.

After comparing the price with few other stores, this store offers a lesser price point.
The camera is surely original, there’s a sticker on the box detailing on its distribution from Sony. I received 2 years warranty from Sony, so definitely a good reassurance.
The experience from placing order to receiving the item were all seamless. Although stated as preorder, the camera arrived less than a week, which is great.

title: Finally got my hands on the Sony a6400!...
detailedReviews 31: content: This is one of few APS-C that does eye AF for humans and animals, which is exactly what I need and why I bought it.I wanted a camera that's small and lightweight for taking pictures of my dog on the walk/hike. Yeah, this is my 'dog cam'. Without IBIS can be an issue for some but most of my lenses either have the build-it image stabilizer or prime lenses with f1.4/1.8 wide open aperture, so getting reasonable shutter speed is relatively easy. The high ISO performance of this camera is only mediocre.Surprisingly, I think Sony's menu system is great. I use the customized menu most of the time but I also never had issues finding a setting from the menu system, at least it's not better/worse than Nikon and Canon, and it is a lot less confusing compared to Fuji's menu, which is the worst IMO.Here are some tips for getting the most out of the A6400:1. Turn off the Picture Profile when shooting still.2. Only shoot with manual exposure, manual WB. AUTO WB is all over the place when shooting outdoors.3. Can't trust EVF or the screen, learn to read the histogram.4. Shooting with MF lenses should pair with external monitor.5. Get good lenses and fast lenses to avoid boosting ISO beyond 1600.* Spare batteriesFor video:1. Only shoot with manual exposure, manual focus and manual WB.2. Use HLG if you are not good with colour grading, or SLOG-2 if you are. Adobe PP has the colour banding issue with SLOG-2 when pushing too far, Davinci Resolve 17 does it better.3. Make sure to turn on Project Color Management in Davinci Resolve and use Wide Colour Gamma.4. Get a good gimbal and forget about IBIS.5. Rig it out to shoot handheld and forget about IBIS.6. Use an external monitor.7. Spare batteries/dummy battery with an external battery pack.Get out and take some pictures and stop worrying about the features you don't have.Enjoy your A6400!

detailedReviews 32: content: I moved up from the Sony A6000 camera to this A6400 with kit lens, transferring my 70-350 zoom lens.
There's a manual you can download from the Sony website, and articles and videos on the web and books to buy.
The Hardware:
The LCD monitor is now more versatile, it pulls out further from the body of the camera so you can angle it downwards for high shots, vertical for selfies, or upwards for low shots.
The screen is now touch-enabled, for shutter or focus or tracking. The tracking is useful, just tap on the subject and the camera will follow that subject and focus on it when you press the shutter button.
There is the same Multi Interface shoe for flash attachments etc; a socket for a wired remote, and a HDMI socket for attaching to a TV. New is a socket for an external microphone.
All the buttons are the same, with an additional one by way of a switch, giving a total of 9 customisable buttons.
For the software, Sony have added about 50 new menu items and reorganised the menus to be more logical and easier to use. There are 5 main menu sets, each has its own colour-coded tab.
There's also a very useful new set of “My Menu” menus which you can customise to your own requirements and which you can call up quickly if you need to switch your settings. So far, I have mine set up for 1. Zoom settings; 2. switch the touch screen on or off and adjust its other settings; 3. Enable/disable silent shutter - a very useful new function.
As well as the wired external control, you can connect the camera to a phone - via NFC or Wifi (via the Sony app), or use an infrared remote or a Bluetooth remote.
You can also use the phone app and Bluetooth to record GPS Location Info to your images. This works OK, though I haven't yet tried it out and about.
The 70-350 zoom lens comes into its own with this camera - settings which were disabled before are now active. The Focus lock button, the Optical Stabilisation and Manual/Auto focus switches all work.
Image stabilisation (Sony's “Steadyshot”) is carried out on the camera if you have an auto zoom lens - such as the kit lens - installed, and by the lens itself when a manual zoom lens is attached.
Sony has improved the Memory saving capacity from a total of 3 memory slots to 7 - you can save the extra 4 to the memory card, and even more if you insert another card. Mind-boggling!
Another new function is “My Dial Settings”, where you can assign a subset of all the commands to a button and call them up temporarily when required. You can find examples described in the resources I mentioned at the start, along with suggestions for all the other settings.
If you are interested in Interval Shooting, the camera now has this built-in, along with a much-improved Movie setup. It now has a Slow and Quick mode for speeding up/slowing down movies.
The number of settings may seem daunting, but a lot of them can be 'set and forget', such as how the display looks and card management. You may decide to just leave everything at their default settings, which is fine, the A6400 does brilliant photos on it's own.

detailedReviews 33: content: I wanted to upgrade from my Sony A6000 to something a bit newer and better. I looked at all the options, reviews and budgets to see which suited me best and out of the A6xxx range and the SonyA6400 seemed like the best value for money for what you are getting.
Even though the sensor is the same as the A6000 overall the performance is much better in the A6400. The image quality its better, the autofocus eye detection is a game changer and battery life has greatly improved. The continuous auto focus if blistering fast and keeps track of the object.
Is the menu system in the in the A6400 easy to use and understand, no. Does the camera have it little quirks, yes. Did it take me ages to setup the camera, yes. Having watched many YouTube videos and downloaded some eBooks I finally have the setting I think I am happy for this camera. Do I fully understand all the setting and what they do, no but it works for me.
The E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS kit lens that came with the camera does not get the best review but as seen in the architectural photos it does a very good job with a little care when taking the photo.
Overall I'm really happy with this little camera and will be sticking with it for hopefully many years to come.

detailedReviews 35: content: Awesome quality, extremely powerful and impressive features and abilities. Lots of room to grow with if you are a beginner or intermediate photographer, but has all the complicated and specific features used exclusively by professional shooters. Heavier and larger DSLRs, while definitely having their purpose in specific types of photography, are no longer necessary to capture amazingly high quality photo and video. This isnt exactly a beginner camera, but if you left it in auto mode you could now get much better photos than ever before possible with a simple point and shoot style. The 16-50mm kit lens does have a little bit of play in the focus ring but it turns smoothly and takes excellent photos for the price. Great for general photography and video, the kit lens is more than adequate for general purposes. For wildlife or sports photography where your subjects are further than 45-60ft away, I would recommend also buying a longer lens such as the 55-210 lens. Its a decent lens for the money. For a more serious photographer there are higher-end, more telescopic lenses available and I feel that eventually I will be wanting one. I feel like this $1000 camera competes with the $3000 DSLRs of just a few years ago. This camera is not the most intuitive to use, unless youre already familiar with the Sony cameras, which I am not. Ive had the camera for an afternoon and have taken photos of wild life, fireworks, and clouds/landscape so far and have been extremely impressed with the images and colors. The good news is that Im not even through my first battery yet and Ive learned to navigate the menus and quickly access the frequently adjusted settings such as ISO and focus settings. The auto focus and semi-automatic modes are extremely intelligent and high speed. The autofocus tracking feature seems like something from secret government spy technology. The buttons, fit, and finish all feel very high quality. The flip-up screen is great and and selfie mode is extremely useful, but Im even more impressed with the image you get from the digital view finder. The colors are vibrant and the image is crisp. I feel like Im seeing what the finished photo will look like when using the viewfinder. There are so many features packed into this camera, Im sure whatever style of photo/video you want to shoot, this camera has you covered. It does everything I want it to: cinematic type video, professional quality photos, low light and time lapse features, slow motion , a great viewfinder and flip up screen for Vlogging... all these incredible features yet simple enough to take quick snap shots at Disneyland with the kids. Now I just need to talk myself into getting the new DJI Ronin SC gimbal to capture buttery smooth video... Overall, I couldnt be more pleased with a camera at this price. In a world of over-hyped and over-priced products, Ive finally purchased a piece of technology that has value actually exceeding its retail price!

detailedReviews 37: content: Brought myself up to date after parting with my 13 year old camera. That was a very good 10mp Panasonic. I have to say there is a learning curve to cope with because the A6400 is very sophisticated indeed. The lack of legible operating procedures and instructions is a minus point for Sony. The major plus point is the extremely fast focusing system and image quality. Had to “buy” a book to learn how to use it. Not happy about that.

detailedReviews 41: content: The Camera is doing a great job, offering really good and helpful features. Picture and Video Quality is very good as well. (i use the camera with the SEL1670Z and the SEL1018) The grip / handle of the Camera could be more ergonomic/bigger and battery performance is poor. (i know it is improved on the 6600). All in all Camera Performance would be worth 4.5 stars. BUT a really poor performance and a disappointment is the software package. Being split in 3 single programs is okay, as 3 different key features feed to be addressed: Remote control features, Image Viewer and Image Editing. But unfortunately the Realisation of those single programms is slow and tend's to crash. The workflow is not lean and handy, other Tools do much better. Also the Features involved is quite poor: You can neither create Panorama pictures, nor save your files to CYMK Format. This is a 1 star-rating disappointment.
Well, why is this in my opion so important: To use the Benefits of raw file photographs, i definitely need those programms in combination with lens correction, using wide angle lenses. So i spend quite much time in front of my computer after Shooting photos. In digital times I think, this became reality for most of us users. And what is happening then, if i don't want to use the sony Software suite, which makes me even slower on the computer side: i am forced to invest quite a lot of Money in a third Party software. Adobe takes roughly 150 Bucks per year, capture-one pro is about 150-300,- Euros. For me as a not-earning-Money-with-photos-Amateur this is far too much. I do wanted to invest that Money in my Hardware -equipment to enjoy and discover even more new prespectives in photography, not in Software. So please Sony, a better, faster, easier Software Suite is really a big benefit, contributing to the experience of me and maybe many others.
To conclude, i really don't want to blame the camera, the 6400 is a great tool with great performance, but software use definitely is part of my overall experience, so I think it is important to Point out.

This is probably the best deal i can find for a new A6400. And things came in good condition.
To be honest I'm scared for a while when I saw the packaging, but luckily was handled by good hand. But I hope seller could enhance the packaging method (Ex: came with box and wrap with bubble). I don't mind to give more money a bit to ensure my things came safe.
Delivery aspect is a little bit disappointed, because I thought will ship out the next day but end up more than two days. Maybe because of shopee policy or seller responsible, i wasn't sure. But could improve in shorter lead time for this high value product and i can't wait long for it 😀.

detailedReviews 43: content: The version I bought comes with a simple 16-50mm lens to get started, and having owned it for a year, it's served as primarily a video camera with photography on the side, and has even been used as a webcam.
Compared to what I was using before, this is a marked improvement as the quality of the video is substantially better. Photos are also very good, although you may want to invest in some better lenses, as the one that came with mine - although perfectly sufficient for the camera to work - results in pretty soft images with a few problems around the edges (though if you have photo editing software, that won't be too big a problem).
The menu is a bit finnicky, however; it can be a bit awkward to find certain settings, but it's still reasonably navigable. The only real downside to this camera is the audio; if you want good audio, you simply need an external microphone, because the camera's mic is very tinny and not very pleasant to listen to. It's also accepts USB Micro-B instead of USB C, so that's something to take into consideration.
In all, it's a very good camera for the price I paid at the time, and if you happen to upgrade to a different camera in the future, it'd be wise to keep this as a B-camera.

detailedReviews 45: content: I have owned the a6400 for 10 days now since the day it started shipping. I have tested AF, Tracking, low light high ISO performance of this camera. The AF accuracy seems to be fantastic and very accurate in AF-C mode without tracking. If you can nail the focus then the pictures render a 3D pop in them. In tracking mode it is accurate but is not blazing fast (You can still get a high keeper rate more than 80%). I also own an A9 and native lenses as well as adapted lenses. I compare the two cameras and I can honestly say the a6400 even though 1/4th the price of an A9 is 50% close performance wise to an A9. The 2 pictures on the street(bus and car) were me testing the AF tracking and it seems pretty good for the first try within hours I received the camera without much fiddling into the settings. The third one is indoor with ISO 3200 and all of them are Straight out of the camera untouched. There is no IBIS in this camera but my lenses have OS or IS image stabilization and works very well. There is an Auto ISO feature which takes 3 pictures in rapid succession and combines them like an HDR image for you. I love this feature and it is awesome in low-light without a flash. The clear digital zoom is another feature that extends your lens range to double and is handy at times if you want that shot but lack the reach. for ex. if you have a lens that can zoom upto 200mm the clear zoom will make it 400 mm if you choose that option in menu settings. The learning curve on the Menu can be a little overwhelming but there are excellent tutorials to help you out. I personally like Mark Galers youtube channel. Just FYI.The ability to customize the menu is awesome for your taste. The menu and controls are on par and similar to an A9.The camera is growing on me definitely and 10 days later I love the camera even more. I will push it to the limits this spring and see how it performs. I am almost confident that I will not be disappointed.I come from canon after being 15 years loyal to them and I still use canon lenses. I believe Sony gives more value for your money at-least in their camera lineup.Edit: Added one more image and the battery life is also pretty good.

detailedReviews 46: content: Mostly based on prior experience with Sony a7:
To cut it short: a6400 is MUCH BETTER!
When I bought my first camera (Sony a7), I had limited money and was too caught up in the idea of getting a full frame camera to be a “real” photographer.
Although the a7 with the kit lens did take good photos, it is unbeatable to a6400 that has so much more features. (not to mention cheaper lens options!)
If you’re trying to decide between this or older versions of full frame (since they’re similar budgets), I would definitely recommend this one (unless you want to take a lot of night pictures—a7 does slightly better in low light, but even so, you should save up to buy the a7s or something better given that you’re already going to spend 1k on these…for amateurs like me though a6400 is perfectly fine even for night photos)
Some features that I love on the a6400:
-SHARP images (the sharpness of a6400 kit lens is no where near the a7 ones)
-and thus GREAT AUTOFOCUS (tracking focus even in video)
-versatility of 18-135mm kit lens (honestly if you were to just use a single lens this would do mostly everything for you)
-silent shutter!! (Underrated feature, since I didn’t realize at first how inconvenient it was to NOT have it on the a7)
-in-built flash
-flippable screen! (for that selfie)
-touch screen (only in shooting mode-you can touch what you want to focus on)
And if you have some extra cash to spend on, buy the Sigma 16mm F/1.4 (takes ultra crisp images + perfect bokeh)
I couldn’t be any more happier with my current lineup of Sony a6400 + 18-135mm kit lens + Sigma 16mm lens.
My only complaint for the a6400 is the horizontal banding/rolling shutter in some photos (esp under artificial light/ silent shutter mode).
If buying, I suggest you look it up to see how you can prevent it.
Even if you’re starting out or already a professional, I would definitely recommend this camera.

detailedReviews 56: content: I bought this camera, a bit more than a year ago. I am very happy to have it as it has all the necessary features for still and video. It has a lot of advantages, for example the crop factor of 1.5x makes my 70-200m G lens be an effective 105 - 300mm G lens. This is great because I can have basically the 10-18 F4, the 18-105 F4 and the 70-200 (effective 105-300mm) F4. You can also have the 200-600mm which would be an effective 300-900 mm and most of them would be at a constant F4, internal zoom and image stabilization across the board. I have most of these lenses too and I couldn't be happier about them! The crop sensor is brilliant, it takes amazing stills and the density of pixels means sharper images. The only addition I would make to this camera, would be the ibis. That would be an amazing feature. I guess that's why they made the A6600. As a first proper camera, it has a big learning curve but I enjoy it every time. One of the moat enjoyable objects I have ever bought in my entire life!

detailedReviews 57: content: I am not a professional. I’ve always loved taking pictures, but decided to invest into my first camera. I was told by many photographer friends that they always end up falling in love with Sony, so I decided to give it a try and I’ve LOVED it. I’m still learning. But it’s so easy and user friendly! Shooting in automatic is pretty simple and straight forward, but I’ve loved learning manual mode. If you’re a beginner, I would recommend this camera-as long as you are good with technology. Don’t get me wrong, as great and fun as this experience has been, it takes trial and error and time to understand features and work around them. So don’t expect to just suddenly be a great photographer.
My final review, 9/10, even 10/10! It’s a 10/10 when you purchase lenses for it (besides the kit it comes with).

detailedReviews 58: content: We took our little gem on a recent trip out of the country to use as our walk-around camera and to explore its video capabilities; we put it through its paces in bright light, low light, interiors, exteriors, even a concert hall for a few snaps just to see how it would respond. The only flaw we found was the microphone, which really seem to be underpowered (we used an add-on, camera-powered mic at one point and had slightly better results): it was adequate when you were close up, not quite so much when recording sound that was at some distance. I assume, but have not explored, self-powered mics which might be the answer if we were serious about Vlogging.
Biggest concern was in picture processing. Capture One, which is apparently the one software tool Sony recognizes, has not updated its drivers to recognize the 6400 so process through the authorized tool simply is not available for yet for purchasers of this camera. I contacted the company and they could not even give me an estimated time of when the software tool would be update. Since Im not an Adobe user, Im not sure if that software is yet updated. Anyone have a suggestion on how to proceed with the RAW files? In camera they look good and the jpg that we can download seem fine--the ones taken in the dark need tweaking and a few others would benefit from a bit of lightening or darkening--but the real test has not yet been undertaken.
I would have given the camera a three just because I cant process the photos yet but it does seem to be a star in its own right, with a portability I appreciate and a capability that makes it a standout. Just need software....
Suggestions?

detailedReviews 59: content: I already had a Sony a6500 that I use for general photography and family portraits. I wanted a second body as a backup. For weeks I fretted over the a6400 or not based on the lack of image stabilization. I need not have been concerned.I have six lenses. Three of them are stabilized but two of them are not my best lenses. The other three are obviously not stabilized, and the Sigma 56mm F1.4 is by far my sharpest lens for portrait work. That was where my concerns were. But it turns out I can shoot hand-held at least down to 1/60 and it is quite rare for me to require that slow a shutter for this lens because the lens is so "fast". I've now been using only the a6400 daily for a few weeks and I simply have not run into any issues that would have been better if the camera had IBIS. As for positives of the a6400...The main attraction of the Sony a6400 is the superior focus system, including subject tracking. And it does indeed work very well. I took quite a few shots of my 9 year old son playing Laser-Tag last week where he was on the move. The tracking kept him in focus as long as I had the camera locked on his face before he started to move. Most of those shots were 50 to 80 feet away from me which is extraordinary.Aside from the superior focus system the A6400 has all of the features and benefits of the entire a6xxx series, except for IBIS. These cameras are small and light but mighty. They are rich with features and the available range of lenses is extensive. Image quality is superb. Many people find the Sony menu system challenging, especially those who've moved from other camera systems. But the a6400 has provided a powerful new feature that allows one to configure their own screen full of feature controls in their own custom layout. This nearly eliminates the need to use the rest of the Sony menu system and have your own setup. This is simply one of the best cameras on the market including the likes of the whole Canon or Nikon lines. For my family portrait work I see no reason to change to a full frame sensor system. This camera has it all. It is now my primary camera for portraits and my older Sony a6500 has become my backup.

detailedReviews 62: content: All I can say is-amazing!-this little camera is absolutely incredible. I also own a Canon EOS 80D but wanted 4k video and something a little smaller. I was afraid my pics would disappoint though, but I was so surprised. I bought the body only and found a $99 dollar 16-50 zoom lens thinking I would return the camera if it was not up to snuff. Well, even with the inexpensive lens the pics and video are just amazing-Crystal clear and vibrant colors The auto focus is much better than my Canon in my opinion. I have not had one out of focus shot, where as with Canon it has been hit or miss occasionally. The very BEST part though, is the size! I can carry this little jewel around everywhere and not look so conspicuous! Also, the pet eye focus is way better than I thought it would be. The technology packed into this camera is just unreal. I have always loved Sony products and have felt the quality is a cut above. From the Walkman cassette player I have (and still works perfectly)-to the portable cd player (that works after 25 years)-to the Sony tv I owned, I have had zero problems. If that holds true with this camera I will be a happy camper.

detailedReviews 65: content: Wonderful improvements by Sony over my a6000. First of all, it operates much tighter much like driving a Ferrari 488 - tight in the steering, around curves, and straight ahead focus and performance. The center wheel which turned sloppy after a year in the a6000 was nice and tight and smooth operating. Same with the exposure mode and shutter or f-stop adjustment dials. The new Bionz chip affords a welcomed faster auto-focus response with a higher degree of accuracy. Shooting in the Auto Mode produced photographs that stood on equal footing with those using more precise shutter and aperture adjustment settings. Auto face recognition, eye recognition and tracking are all much more accurate and responsive. Last for me the flexible and 180 degree positioning of the LCD screen makes shooting straight down photographs on a tripod a welcome addition, not to mention the ability to do selfies with incredible sharpness even with my old 16 to 50mm pancake kit lens. All in all great performance and value packed into a tight performing package.

detailedReviews 67: content: I’ve been practicing photography since the 80s. “I’m a firm believer that it is not the camera that makes the shot but the eyes behind it.”
“The camera, for me, only improves the quality of the shot but never the composition. “(Yup, you can quote me on both.)
I only owned a few cameras (I’m not one of those geeks who jump at buying the latest gadget every time one is released) since then.
This is my latest acquisition after a decade of using a dslr which I was (and still am) quite happy with.
However, I needed something less bulky and could take (better then smartphones) sharper pictures - enter Sony @6400.
This was recommended by a friend who also likes to take pictures.
After a couple of month of delaying and researching, I finally got mine at a great sale price!
Tried it out, and I was blown away by the quality of the pictures this unit took!
It’s gonna take me a couple more sessions to get really used to it but by what I’ve seen so far, this is a great camera! Very little post editing required!
Only draw back, the raw format isn’t compatible with an editing software out there. However, there are other software one can use that are more efficient once you get the hang of it.
Totally loving this new cam! Worth every penny! Looking forward to another decade with this one!

detailedReviews 69: content: This is one of my favourite cameras. I bought it to replace my ageing NEX 7 and there seems to be nothing that this camera can’t do in practice. I’ve found it a very responsive camera under demanding conditions. It would have been nice if it had a higher maximum shutter speed and built in image stabilisation but for the price it’s hard to complain. For filming the 4K videos are fantastic. They are so detailed. I just hope Sony in future moves away from the 8 bit video files to 10 bit files for greater flexibility in video post production. For many applications this could be considered a pro camera. I’ve found the AF responsive enough for my wildlife photography as the AF tracking works a treat. I find the video button to be in an awkward position but fortunately the customisation feature allows another button to be used. I find that overall the a6400 is a great all round camera for stills and video.

detailedReviews 73: content: Bought this camera with the 18-135mm lens. Was a bit uncertain, being a long time user of a competitor brand for my old DSLR. Read loads of reviews, but certainly think I made the right decision. Its relatively easy to use (still learning the many auto focus modes!), the photo quality is fantastic - the amount of post processing I've needed to do is greatly reduced. Colours look realistic, and even at ISO6400 I get images with little noise. I was concerned about having the view finder off to one side (initially what put me off this camera), but that was unfounded. It works perfectly well, although I haven't yet made use of my other eye whilst shooting. Its very light as well compared to my old DSLR - definitely a convert to mirrorless. All in all, I love my new camera and am pleased I bought it.
Should add that the 18-135mm lens is also great, I would recommend that lens. Good bokeh, good lens of zoom for walk about, great quality pictures.
Overall, would recommend this camera and am definitely a Sony convert.

detailedReviews 75: content: I bought this after significant research into a format that was smaller than my current DSLR. Being able to use any manual focus and manual aperture lens (with the correct mount adapter) is a real bonus. Exceptional video performance, especially when coupled with a decent off-camera microphone (try a Moukey). After market lithium batteries may not all be compatible - Sony can be very picky with lithium compatibility. After market lenses are often much better / sharper / faster / cheaper than their Sony equivalents, so don't be afraid to buy Artisan, Sigma, Soligor or Samyang lenses. In summary, the rabbit hole of functionality increases the deeper you dive into the complex menu system.

detailedReviews 76: content: I purchased this camera as an upgrade from the A6000 and I really enjoy it as both an upgrade and on its own merits. For those upgrading from an older Sony camera, the biggest new features are a touchscreen, effortless Eye AF, and Real-Time Tracking. The touchscreen is great for repositioning your Eye-AF point quickly, allowing you to tap or drag a finger across the back LCD. This functionality is available viewing the LCD or EVF and is a huge step up from the old four-way directional pad. The upgraded Sony Eye-AF is incredible and allows you to focus on composition without worrying about where your camera is focused. Lastly, Real-Time Tracking allows you to pick a moving subject and hold onto them like glue.On its own, I feel like this is a great travel camera. I can fit the 18-135mm zoom, 35mm prime, and 10-18mm zoom in a very small bag and carry them all day with ease on a hike or through a crowded city. The image quality is quite good without the bulk and weight of a larger camera. There are only a few downsides to this device. I wish that Sony had included a joystick and another exposure dial in the design to allow for even better control. Sony only included a slow UHS-I card slot, and the camera takes FOREVER to clear its buffer. Lastly, Sony did not fit IBIS into this model, instead reserving the feature for their future top-of-the-line A6600.Overall, I love this camera for travel!

detailedReviews 77: content: The A6400 replaced an A6000, which I was very pleased with. I upgraded to the A6400 because of the advances in AF, mainly the addition of tracking and both human and animal eye focus. The animal eye focus feature does, at this point, require a simple online firmware update.
The pros with this camera are it’s compact size and light weight, its excellent Sony APS-C sensor, very usable EVF, very good low light performance, and overall fine image quality. That, plus the advanced AF features, make for a formidable little camera.
The downside is that it may be too small for larger hands, and definitely does not balance well with larger, heavier lenses. Although improved, Sony menus are not what I would call intuitive. The manual that comes with the camera is very basic, and really leaves much to the new owner to figure things out. Also, as with most mirrorless designs, battery life is relatively poor.
So, if you're looking for a carry camera that doesn’t require a padded shoulder strap because of its weight, and want the image quality of an APS-C sensor, the A6400 may be a perfect fit. Just expect to spend some time with the menus, and a lot of time online figuring out how to set it up so you can take advantage of its many features.

Even if you aren’t a beginner this camera really has everything you need and for SUCH A GOOD PRICE its sooo worth it! Yes its smaller but still feels nice and heavy and it looks cool. I paired it with the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 which I found to be the best fit for portrait photography and at a really good price of around $400. The image quality is outstanding! I was looking for something to shoot video with (specifically YouTube and interview videos) so I liked that this didnt have the 30 minute limit. I had no clue how many advances had been made since the a6000 was released. I try to avoid new camera info because it always leads to me getting excited and buying one.
The flip up screen is great and I love being able to monitor myself while recording. I know you can always add a monitor to other cameras (I even own one) but when I have a video idea I want to get it going as quickly. That means I usually forgo looking for the monitor and hoping Im in the shot correctly.
The videos have come out INCREDIBLE so far and Im beyond happy with the purchase. The only thing Im not excited for is re-configuring all of my custom buttons and menus but thats the case with any new camera and if thats my biggest issue then life is pretty good :)
If you own an a6000 or are looking for a camera that does both video and photography really well then definitely give this a good, hard look.
If youre sitting there with an a6300 or a6500 then the decision to upgrade (or is it sidegrade?) is a little trickier. Go to a camera store and test it out... if you love the a6300 then youll absolutely love this camera but if you have the a6300 then you most likely dont *need* this camera. If that makes any sense.

detailedReviews 83: content: I'm a long time A6000 user and decided to step up to the A6400. It did not disappoint. The form factor is identical, but better build quality (magnesium instead of plastic). 4K footage is surprisingly clean. And image quality is signature Sony. The Sony lens game has certainly improved over the past 4 years. This is a great camera for vlogging, Youtube videos, and photography. You could easily use this as second camera for b-roll. I wish it had 4:2:2 10 bit video capture, but that might be asking too much. The 18-135mm lens with this kit is surprisingly good, even with the variable aperture. The image is mostly sharp unless you are all the way wide. I have also used this with the Elgato Camlink 4K. This might be overkill for that purpose, but you will never look better on a Zoom call. The only con is the stupid Sony menu system. This fixed this on the A6500, but that is a far more expensive camera and a bit bigger. The good thing is you can still use your A6000 batteries with this camera.

detailedReviews 84: content: This camera is a life saver for budget camera builds. It has a high shutter speed and INSANE photo quality, It fits perfectly in your hand and has quick and easy settings for beginners. The one downside is the battery life, it could last you up to 5-6 hours if you are using it often enough, but you rarely have to charge it. AMAZING CAMEREA EVEN IN 2025 Would recommend

detailedReviews 85: content: I wanted a camera that was more compact than the DSLR camera that I have had for a number of years., but had more capability than the 'point-n-shoot' camera I bought 2 years ago.
After look at the various cameras that were available, I decided to go for a Sony A6300 - however I then heard that Sony announced a A6400 - an updated a6300 and it also had touch screen.
I have now had the A6400 for a couple of weeks and think its a great camera. With the kit lens, it only slightly more bulky than my point-and-shoot camera, but has just all the function of my DSLR + the ability to film at 1080p and 4K.
I was a bit concerned that the a6400 did not have in body image stabilisation (the stabilisation is in the lens) but so far I have not found this a big issue for stills or movies I have taken so far.
It took a while to learn to use all the functions of the camera - but I found a few tutorial on Youtube which really helped - but I would say that it does take time to get to know the full capability of this camera.
The autofocus is excellent - very fast (a LOT faster than my other cameras) - and the eye focus really works well. The pictures are very good - I found that the the additional lens I purchased is better that the kit lens I got with the camera (however the kit lens is VERY compact)
I am now considering selling my DSLR - I cant see myself going to the bother of lugging all the weight of the body and lens when I can can the functions I need and the image quality I need in a far more compact camera.

detailedReviews 86: content: I bought this camera for wildlife photography, one reason being the animal eye autofocus since I have poor eyesight and struggle to focus.
Camera ships with v1 software that was replaced in 2019. Upgrade does not work, only supported on old versions of windows, Sony refuse to replace and just keep sending the same information about upgrades. I have rarely experienced such poor support.

detailedReviews 87: content: While the bag is a bit on the small side, it is definitely good enough for the camera and a small lens attached to it. Still, the camera looks to be of very high quality and has plenty of features, I intend to use it attached to my belt with this camera on short hikes. The memory card is very nice with very fast write speeds (200MB/s), I was not expecting such a nice card, thanks B&H. Everything including camera, see my other review, came when promised and nicely packaged. Very happy with my purchase from B&H.

detailedReviews 88: content: Such an underrated and under estimated camera. Build quality is very good and it snaps away with ease. Wether you wish to use the preset functions and picture settings or go it alone and manual shoot. The camera is in my onion a perfect gateway to bigger and more powerful full frame cameras. But as a stand alone devise cupelled with the lens of your desired choice or affordability it just amazing.
Highly recommend for anyone and everyone that enjoys the art of capturing the moment through and eyepiece.

detailedReviews 89: content: The camera was used but came in absolutely perfect condition, with a screen protector installed in great position. Shiping was very fast as well, packaging was fine. Came with three batteries and a charger, kit lense, and strap. Unfortunately either one of the batteries or sides of the charging dock are non functioning. It will show the battery as charged but will the battery shows a certain percentage then dies after short use. Camera has amazing capabilities and is all around amazing I just wish Sony had a little less "disorganized" menu system. It is easy to remember and use whith more use of the camera though. The picture quality is absolutely spectacular. I'm going to try to get the most out of the kit lense before i go ahead. Everything met my expectations and more, this camera is awesome.

Luckily, I checked shutter counte and it turns out to be new. So I chose to ignore.

detailedReviews 91: content: My first camera and photography has me I’m hooked! Idk why I took so long to buy a camera! After a lot of research I went with this APAC camera due to budget mostly and the amount of good reviews this camera has! I’m still learning so I’m not too technical but I’ll just say I don’t regret buying this camera it’s a great “starter” camera for someone who can’t spend $2k+ for a first camera & you won’t outgrow it for a good while so you’ll get your moneys worth outta it. The only downside noticed is the lack of in-body stabilization which isn’t a dealbreaker for me. But just a noteworthy for anyone who need this feature. My favorite part of this camera is the small size & it doesn’t attract a ton of attention when shooting like some full sized cameras. I was able to purchase this camera as Body only for $750 new.

detailedReviews 93: content: I upgraded from the A6000 (an excallent camera) to the A6400. I have also had in the past two FujiFilm cameras. What I really like about the A6400 is its straight-out-the-camera JPGs. They are a significant improvement over the A6000, and they rival JPGs from Fuji. A lot has been said regarding focusing speed on the A6400. Its all true. The A6400 locks on and tracks moving subjects exceptionally well. To me, a camera is more than just the body. I know there are a lot of exceptional prime lenses for the Sony, and some camera makers, especially Fuji, have premium lenses. I had the A6000, and wanted the A6400, mostly as a walk-around travel camera. I hate changing lenses when I am being a tourist. This A6400, with the Sony 18-135mm lens, is just about perfect for vacation use. I spent 10 days in San Francisco with the A6000 and the 18-135mm Sony lens and felt I had a near-perfect vacation kit. So now I have the 18-135mm Sony mounted on the A6400. Theres no other combo I would want to walk around a city with than this kit. My wife has the Conon 70D with Canons 18-135mm lens, and it is significantly larger and heavier than my Sony A6400 and 18-135mm lens. Even though her Canon kit gives great results, no way would I want to lug her kit around all day. In summary, my A6400 with the 18-135mm lens packs a huge amount of power into a smallish/lightish package.

detailedReviews 94: content: I bought this camera as an upgrade from my Sony a6000.
Why purchase the a6400???
This is the only camera in the apsc lineup that shoots unlimited 4K video and does not overheat. If you're into podcasts or long video conferences this camera is a beast.
Most digital cameras have a 30 minute video recording limit otherwise they would be taxed as a camcorder and would be more expensive. Somehow this camera got around that.
I purchased a full frame Sony A7C recently so this camera is now my B roll camera and backup.
On a side note, if you decide to go full frame, the Sony A7C also records unlimited 4K video and that is why I chose that camera.
Regardless of what Sony Mirrorless camera you purchase, it will be a solid investment. I've been shooting Sony since 2016 and will never buy a Canon or Nikon.

detailedReviews 95: content: After buying and trying to make this camera work for my needs as a freelance filmmaker I am sad to say Sony dropped the ball with this release. There are some really outstanding qualities, the three I would like to highlight are the Autofocus (best I have ever used), the HLG color profile which is just gorgeous, sharp and with beautiful colors (best I have seen out of Sony), and finally the long awaited flip screen. But, despite these positives I am filling out a return request right now for this camera.
The reason behind the return is the rolling shutter makes the camera unusable due to a lack of IBIS. You can see the rolling shutter in static shots while your subject moves, and even when using it on a gimbal, you cannot escape it. If you try to post stabilize the footage, nothing but jello stabilized shots. It is absurd and essentially a waste of a camera release as I would have preferred them putting the IBIS in the camera and just call this the A6600 so we can all move on and get to filmmaking. Compared to the A6500 (which isnt exactly outstanding with rolling shutter!) the A6400 is a joke. So unfortunate. I dont see why they went below the A6500 with this release to create a A6300 successor.

detailedReviews 97: content: I bought a Sony A6000 when it first came out a number of years ago and have been very pleased indeed with it. I've been keeping an eye out for upgrades and when the A6400 came out I decided to purchase it - the rapid autofocus, folding screen, interval shooting, touch screen focus and dynamic tracking being some of the key points. I have not been disappointed - it's a totally terrific camera. The extra facilities on it over the A6000 make it amazingly more useful and the super-vast focusing is something to be seen to be believed - it really is that good. It takes a while to get to grips with all the things that you can do, but persist as it is worth it and there are many helpful videos out there to assist. I'd really recommend buying a SmallRig U-frame with wooden grip and expandable side arm for it. With that you can hold the A6400 super steady, it adds little weight and is very well-engineered. Brilliant Camera - very happy indeed - made a great 70th Birthday present.

detailedReviews 98: content: I think Sony has the market on mirrorless cameras at the moment, but Sony isn't making the entry into good cameras very affordable. We opted to go with this unit because it is probably the best value at that entry level spot. The lens is good enough to get some nice shots without doubling the price of the kit. One of the amazing things about this camera is how fast everything about it is. Except navigating the menus.
I think this camera fits the niche of best value when tip toeing into mirrorless cameras while waiting for the tech to get better. A good mirrorless package is around $4k while the Sony a1 is 6500 just for the body and another 2k for a matching G lens. If you're open to spend 1300 bucks as a temp fix, this is a great camera. If 1300 is the top of your budget this also the best option.

detailedReviews 100: content: Some of the features that should be simpler simply aren’t. There is a learning curve coming from a DSLR but the image quality is exceptional comparing them side by side. I compared the images from a Nikon 1dx with the exact same lenses and the image quality is exceptional and very compatible with different lenses with the many adapters out there for it. It lacks controls and versatility and it feels a little cheap at times. The electronic view finder is absolute trash compared to a mirror on a DSLR but the live view that actually displays exactly what the outcome will be is very very good. So it’s sort of a trade off. I love the images that come out of this and honestly while the 6600 does have some sort of in body stabilization and the a7riii has the higher resolution and more professional feel, unless you’re doing video I think the a6400 is sufficient even for shooting 4k.
