Samsung S25 Ultra Review - 6 Months Later

6 Months Later

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is praised for its impressive hardware, top-tier camera, and flexible Android software with One UI 7. Key highlights include improved software features like the Now Bar and lock screen widgets, enhanced device pairing, and a better weather widget. The phone's build quality, especially the matte black titanium rails, and improved ergonomics are noted. Battery life is excellent, lasting all day. The camera system is generally impressive, avoiding S24 Ultra's oversharpening, though it shows more noise in low light compared to competitors. The Gemini Assistant is a significant upgrade over Google Assistant. Downsides include a lower PWM rate, the S Pen's reduced functionality and questionable necessity, and missing some AI features found on Pixel phones. Despite some minor drawbacks, the S25 Ultra is recommended as a solid flagship Android phone with refined features.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review: The Tables Have Turned!

Marques Brownlee

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 12GB Titanium 5G is described as a safe, incremental upgrade from the S24 Ultra, with minor external changes like slightly boxier edges and thinner bezels. The main internal improvement is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which offers excellent performance and efficiency, paired with a larger vapor chamber to prevent overheating. However, the phone omits several expected features like IP69, Qi2 magnets, and a 10x zoom, and even downgrades the S Pen by removing Bluetooth functionality. While the software, including One UI 7 and some AI features like Object Eraser and natural language search, is praised, other AI features like daily briefs are deemed weak. The reviewer notes that Samsung is playing it safe due to a lack of direct competition in the US market, leading to a product that is 'awesome' but missed an opportunity to be 'the best' for its premium price.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Real Review (4K60)

zollotech

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 12GB Titanium 5G features a slightly squared-off design, a larger 6.9-inch display with shrunken bezels, and improved Gorilla Glass Armor for durability. It's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite processor, offering fast and smooth performance, though it can get warm during intensive tasks. The 5,000 mAh battery provides about an extra hour of usage compared to the previous model. Key camera upgrades include a 50MP ultrawide sensor and enhanced video modes like false color and log recording. AI features like audio eraser and generative AI for photo editing (Magic Editor) are highlighted. The S Pen no longer has Bluetooth functionality, which is noted as a negative. The reviewer suggests upgrading from an S23 or older, but not necessarily from an S24 Ultra, as many software features will come to older devices.

Samsung Galaxy S25/Ultra Impressions: What Happened?

Marques Brownlee

The speaker states that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series, including the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, offers minimal upgrades over the previous generation, describing it as a "spec bump" with "nothing dramatically new." Key internal upgrades include the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, increased base RAM to 12GB, and a larger vapor chamber. The S25 Ultra receives minor cosmetic changes like slightly more squared-off sides, bigger camera rings, and smaller bezels, along with a new 50MP ultra-wide camera. The majority of new features are software-based, focusing on AI enhancements like a hybrid Gemini/Bixby assistant, AI Select for text and GIF creation, natural language search in settings, and an audio eraser tool. The speaker notes that many of these AI features might also come to the S24 series via software updates, questioning the need to upgrade. The new One UI 7 software is highlighted as potentially making a bigger difference than the hardware changes. The speaker expresses a desire to test the new chip's performance and camera capabilities further.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra full review

GSMArena Official

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 12GB Titanium 5G features a refined design with rounded corners, a titanium frame, and a thinner, lighter build protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2. It boasts a larger 6.9-inch QHD OLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and improved anti-reflectivity. Key upgrades include a new 50MP ultrawide camera and the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, offering excellent CPU performance but standard GPU benchmarks. The phone retains a 5,000mAh battery with improved endurance and 45W charging. Software enhancements focus on One UI 7 with new AI features like cross-app actions and AI select. While the cameras offer good daylight performance, low-light shots and some video aspects are noted as areas for potential improvement. The S Pen loses wireless functions, and the reviewer wished for better ingress protection and charging speeds, but ultimately recommends it as a high-quality flagship.

iPhone 17 Pro Max vs Galaxy S25 Ultra

PhoneArena

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is discussed as a direct competitor to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The S25 Ultra is noted for its superior anti-glare coating on the display, even though the iPhone's display can reach higher peak brightness. The S25 Ultra has four physical camera lenses, offering up to 100x digital zoom, though the speaker finds these shots often over-processed and less useful than the iPhone's capabilities. The S25 Ultra's software, One UI, is described as having a more colorful and flat look, with more multitasking options like split screen, floating windows, and Samsung DeX. It also features the S Pen for note-taking. While both phones have useful AI features like live translation and photo editing, the speaker suggests Samsung might have more AI features. The S25 Ultra's battery life is comparable to the iPhone's, except in gaming where the Samsung performed better. The speaker recommends buying the S25 Ultra only if a discount is available, as it is an older model soon to be refreshed.

Samsung S25 Ultra Review - Things just got Messy.

Mrwhosetheboss

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra 12GB Titanium 5G is described as an enticing and delightful phone, potentially an 'iPhone killer' due to its robust build (Titanium body, strong glass), improved battery life (under 9 hours screen-on time), and a vibrant, nearly borderless display. The new One UI7 software is praised for its familiarity to iPhone users, intuitive settings search, and superior photo gallery compared to iOS 18. Performance is noted as blazing fast. However, the high price ($1300 vs. $800 for the S24 Ultra) is a major drawback, especially since many AI features, which are central to the phone's appeal, are only free until the end of 2025 with unknown future costs. While some AI features like AI select and improved object eraser are game-changers, others like lock screen briefs and cross-app action are deemed underdeveloped or lacking context. Camera improvements are noted, but the speaker questions if they are software-based and if they will be brought to older models. The S Pen has lost Bluetooth functionality. Overall, it's recommended for those seeking the best Android phone but questioned for its value compared to the S24 Ultra.

UAE TDRA version, lightning-fast performance, outstanding camera

Amazon

I bought the Samsung S25 Ultra 512GB (Titanium Grey – UAE TDRA version) for my wife on April 24, and after over a month of use, we’re very happy with it. The performance is lightning-fast, the camera is outstanding, and the display is stunning. Premium build and excellent battery life. I also want to thank the seller for promptly sending the invoice when I requested it after nearly two months — and for resending it when the first file didn’t open. Really appreciated the patience and support. Only downside: I planned to buy another one, but the price has gone up by nearly AED 300 since then, which was a bit surprising. Still, 100% satisfied with the product and the service. Highly recommended.

Stunning display, powerful performance, phenomenal camera

Amazon

I recently upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and it truly lives up to the hype. The 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Quad HD+ resolution delivers stunningly sharp and vibrant visuals, perfect for media and gaming. The titanium frame and Gorilla Glass Armor 2 make it feel premium and durable without being bulky. Performance-wise, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset combined with 12GB RAM handles everything smoothly, from heavy multitasking to high-end gaming. The battery life is impressive with a 5000mAh capacity and 45W fast charging, so I rarely worry about running out of power. The camera setup is phenomenal — the 200MP wide lens captures incredibly detailed photos, and the multiple telephoto lenses provide excellent zoom and portrait shots. Video recording up to 8K is a nice bonus for content creators. Overall, the S25 Ultra is a powerhouse flagship with top-tier specs, a sleek design, and advanced camera features. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a premium Android experience.

The camera is impressive too, boasting a 200MP main sensor with great night mode and zoom features for amazing photos. Its sleek design, with a titanium frame and curved edges, adds a touch of elegance. Plus, it comes with an S Pen for extra productivity. The amazing AI capabilities are something useful for daily routines.

Ultimate experience: premium design, great battery, fast charging

Google

Having used the Samsung Ultra S25 for over a week, this top-tier flagship smartphone offere a premium design, exceptional build quality, and a stunning 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip and 16GB of RAM, it delivers seamless performance across all tasks, including gaming and multitasking. The 1TB storage is ample, and the camera system, featuring a 250MP primary sensor and advanced AI, provides professional-grade photos and videos, even in low light. I found that the battery life is also very impressive, with a 6000mAh battery lasting over a day, and 120W fast charging ensures quick top-ups. The phone also includes features like Samsung DeX, S Pen support, and 5G connectivity, making it a versatile, powerful device perfect for productivity, entertainment, and photography. For anyone starting their Samsung Journey, I would say it's a must have!

Beautiful phone, gorgeous screen, but fingerprint issues

Google

Upgraded to the S25 Ultra from Pixel 8 and used S20 before that for a few years. The upgrade was truly amazing for me personally. I couldn't wait to inbox and start using my phone. My phone is beautiful and I love the way it looks. The screen is gorgeous to look at and it's goes so bright that I never even have to go halfway even during daytime. The speaker can go really loud too and deliver crisp sounds. The call quality is also something that is significantly better than what I used to. I found both the call network and the voice to be much better. I think Samsungs haptic feedback is the best in the market and it's the best of samsung. As for the battery it is very optimized and delivers more than enough charge for an easy day. One UI 7 is stunning to use, flawlessly smooth and has amazing configuration options. The processor is great and everything feels so snappy. The animations and UI feels battery smooth. The customization settings are pretty exhaustive. I really found the routines a great way to automate repetitive tasks. AI features overall are quite fun to use but except the text optimization, I don't see myself using these features extensively. I also got a Samsung watch, have a Samsung TV and refrigerator. As an ecosystem, everything pairs well and it's seamless. For me even with such great features there are a few things that stop me from having a 5/5 experience. 1. Coming from Pixel 8 where the fingerprint sensor was buttery smooth and super accurate, the unlock mechanism seems like a step down. I'm surprised Samsung still hasn't updated it's sensors as I used to have the same issues with S20. 2. While I think the battery is pretty good and optimized, it is still not the best. When using it for video playback or social media browsing, I find that I do have to reach for a charger after a few hours. A bigger silicon battery could've fixed that. 3. Charging speeds are too slow given we're still working with 45W. A full charge takes more than 1 hour which is not so great considering we have 80W charging available now. I have to wait before I can use my phone again. 4. Pixel 8 had a Class 3 face unlock which meant I could use it for everything including banking apps. I do miss that as it made regular logins for higher security apps smooth. I'm not sure but I think Samsung can still do that with a software upgrade. Would be a super nice change. Overall, despite some of its small flaws I do love the phone and would recommend it to anyone. Negative social media hype being generated for this phone is not applicable for more than 90% of the users who are not upgrading from an S24 Ultra. As I prior Samsung user, I got a special coupon code and was able to trade in my old S20 for a special trade in price. I appreciate Samsung making an effort to bring its regular customers back to its devices.

Comfortable to hold, brighter screen, improved UI

Google

General. The new Galaxy S25 Ultra opens up a new world that I call the pleasure of touch. It's a super-comfortable phone that lies in your hand, and its edges don't crash into your palms. The side faces became flat, and this significantly increased the pleasant feeling of holding the phone in your hand. The volume and off buttons haven't gotten so tough, calling the Gemini assistant is a treat! Separately, I want to praise Samsung's signature case. I ordered it with eco-leather, and I didn't regret it. Try it, it's stylish, strict, neat, and nice again. Screen. The screen has become brighter compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The screen turned off got even darker. Now you can see even better in the bright sun. In reflecting glare - this phone has no equal - it displays the content of the screen, not the sun's rays. One UI 7. Special thanks to the company for developing the new shell. Animation is at a high level. All app settings have become more convenient. In the menu, the search bar moved down. All important camera settings have also shifted downward. Now it's easier to control your phone with one hand. S-pen. The fact that Bluetooth was removed from the S-pen was frustrating. This function was often used when taking pictures. AI functions. I often use the function to check the spelling of large texts. The AI language knows better than it does. And pay more attention to me. It's a separate fun - now you can create personal stickers. You just write, for example, "a squirrel in space," and the AI draws everything perfectly. Communication with Gemini sometimes leads to mistakes or unexpected results. But technology is evolving, so far I'm using it for the sake of interest and self-testing. It is a great thank you that AI knows a large number of languages. General impressions. Galaxy S25 Ultra - at a height! I recommend it!

Happy switch from Apple, great S pen and speed

Amazon

After switching over from Apple to Android (again), I am so happy with this phone. The S pen is an additional feature I'm so glad to have for the first time. The processing speed is amazing and the best thing is that I can personalise notifications for each App which is helpful to separate personal and work notifications. Very happy with this purchase. Highly recommended Ǔ

Solid upgrade, huge difference in software and speed

Amazon

I usually upgrade my phone every two years, skipping one model each time. I was looking for a solid upgrade from my two-year-old phone, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been the best choice so far. Not a lot has changed in terms of looks or features in the last two years, but the difference in software and speed is huge. Everything feels faster, smoother, and more reliable. It’s a big step up in day-to-day use. This is the kind of quality I’ve come to expect from Samsung. For the price, I think it offers great value right now. I don’t plan to upgrade again until the S28, so I’ll keep using this phone and will update this review if anything changes later on.
google

Amazing performance, brighter screen, good camera

Google

Overall performance when compared to my S24 ultra is amazing from the moment you turn the phone on you get that wow experience. The screen is brighter and is easier to read in bright sunlight. The camera and software are a slight improvement on my S24 ultra evolution rather than revolution. Battery for me is the one disappointment., no rapid charge, the battery life does not appear to be as good as on the S24 ultra, however as a keen hiker who walks 20 plus miles in the mountains the GPS tracker seems to be far more accurate and if the power usage is used to support this function then I am more than happy with the extra power consumption. As for the design it is a personal choice and I am slightly more in favour of the S24 ultra. Sound for a mobile phone is fantastic. There have been no software issues, no connectivity uses and transferr of data from one phone to the other was seamless

Love Samsung, but want bigger screen and battery

Google

PLEASE MAKE THE S26 ULTRA WITH A BIGGER SCREEN! Upgrading from the S24 Ultra. I feel the S25 ultra looks smaller than my S25 Ultra but yet it's soposed to be bigger? I miss the square corners I think it made the phone look big, expensive, and classy! All I want is a bigger screen and a larger battery. Make a collapsible s pen or one that can shrink down and extend out to give more battery room. Other than that I love my s25 ultra, the display is beautiful. I feel the s24 ultra battery lasted longer although im still happy with my purchase as the phone is growing on me but im not too impressed. I kinda miss my 24U. But im gonna keep my 25U and wait for the 26U to trade this one in. Still giving 5 stars because I love Samsung, love what they make, & love what they do.. I was nervous about my trade in deal as I heard horror stories. But my s24 ultra trade in was mint condition and everything went successful so im very satisfied and will continue spending my money with samsung!

Bloatware, difficult notification settings, Google dependency

Google

Phone body is big but easy to handle. Cameras are amazing. Larger screen helps with texting and photos. AI is on everything and requires a lot of disabling. If thats your thing great, but why not leave it so that those of us that don't like it aren't forced into looking into the great beyond to turn it off? What sucks is the bloat of ringtones on the phone. If your deaf to certain tones and most of the ringtones have that tone it makes it hard to hear. I don't hold my phone at all times so vibration does nothing yet it is turned on for everything and requires you shut in off on each app. Plus changing notification sounds requires each app be opened and then go to the apps settings to change it. It use to be that smartwatch moved ringtones with contacts. Nope not anymore. Google is ok but I don't stay signed into it at all times. Yet working my phone requires requires it. Become samsung again. If I wanted Google dependent phone I would have bought one. Bring back Message+. Google messages isn't comparable at all.
